TeamVanir presents
VANIR
Yeah, it's got a HEMI.
Based off of AOSP Jelly Bean 4.2.2, with original modifications, as well as kangs from Linaro, CodeAurora, CyanogenMod, AOKP, EOS, Slim, and our belly buttons.
Our webkit, chromium, and skia are aosp/master merged with codeaurora, with linaro fixes on top.
BY LINARO, I MEAN GLOBAL "-O3 -fstrict-aliasing".... we didn't just switch toolchains. Here at Team Vanir, WE GO HARD.
Please see Github/gerrit for realtime updates,
Support can be best found here or in our Google Community
Sometimes live support can be found here #vanir on freenode, please be patient.... we have day jobs too.

There's really no reason too. Lol, its AOSP. So, basically stock look.

I'm going to download and flash this tonight, maybe tomorrow morning latest. Anyways I went to the gapps link you provided and don't know which ones to download. Some say "don't brick your phone alpha" or something of that nature... I'm kinda hesitant to flash that, am I completely missing something or maybe just being paranoid??

Oh, I apologize for that. It seems that DHO's links are linking to something weird. O_O, lol. Download the one above that. (Nuke's nightlies). And as for the Gapps, its linked to the correct one? But, i'll definitely be taking down DHO's links for now to stop from confusion.

There was a couple of things I ran into in the short time I had it going. In settings -> about phone, the very bottom line (I forget what it says, something like TELinux or SELinux) I tapped on that a few times and it instantly threw my phone in a bootloop. I honestly don't know why I even tried that to begin with. Then after I pulled the battery I tried to go into recovery by holding the volumes and power button and it would just reboot normally. I might have brought these on myself though because I doubt I let it sit long enough, I was excited to flash something different and jumped the gun. I had to nand back to a previous for the night but I will definitely try to give it another go tomorrow if I have time. It does seem promising!!

Was that the first thing that you went after when you installed the rom? If not, how was the performance on it? I haven't tried the rom yet cause my internet has been acting up today. Do you think there was anything else wrong with it?
Hella smooth rom!
The only problem i'm having is Titanium Backup won't install any of my apps. It just freezes on the install.
(Even after changing the preferences to Legacy and etc.)
That's really the only deal breaker for me = /

Disregard my last reply yo this thread. Everything is working perfect!
I some how tapped SELinux in About phone and it changed the setting to "Enforcing" when it is supposed to be "Permissive".
Apps installed just fine. Thanks for putting in the word. :good:

Love the look and feel, the seamless integration of a great number of key features/mods/add-ons. Running beautifully with no complaints thus far. Still working through trying & testing everything but I havent had a single force close. About to test GPS & MMS functionality, confirmed SMS is fine. Only question I really have is this: I see an option for custom app icons for the extra slots on the lockscreen, but I dont see how to set the icons. Is there just a finite number of icons premade for the common gapps that would be added in those slots?
EDIT: Confirm MMS receive is working, GPS responds smooth & snappy, custom carrier text works fine for me.
Everything is working very well and GPS locked almost immediately... the goodies that came with this phone are literally the ****

Ah, ok. I mistook the "Enable Custom App Icons" Option under Lockscreen Settings to mean the icons presented on the lockscreen. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
i also want the on screen nav buttons, also if you run this rom at over 1300mhz it will send you into bootloops.. ill switch to this as soon as i can get some nav buttons! until then ill stick to elitemod.. good work tho! im a gummyfan!

30 minutes with the rom and this is what I have to report so far:
1. Very snappy.
2. Original Rom settings, very polished!
3. Better clock widget.
Bugs:
1. Play Video seems to crash every time.
seems different from other ROMs, gonna flash it now
I'd love the option to be able to reorder the navbar buttons - is this possible?
This is gonna sound Mega noob... but I really want to download this, only thing I need to know is what is the difference between the toro and maguro download links? Both are 1.01?

Apologies. About ten second before you wrote this I figured it out as I swore I had seen it somewhere.
Looking forward to trying this
Great ROM. Has the necessary customization (for me) available, smooth, well laid out, obviously a lot of work went into this. One thing I do typically miss when I try out other ROMs however are Quiet Hours +/- Profiles.
Quality ROM, and a more than worthy alternative for fine ROM connoisseurs.
Voltage Control dont work for me!

Description
Vanilla RootBox is built straight from RootBox sources and always carries a very light installation with no extra/useless apps. This means, you can enjoy a pure Android experience combined with AOKP/CM features and some CM cherry-picks. Keep in mind Jelly Bean is only at the beginning stage of development and there will be minor bugs. Every RootBox releases are stable and always up to the challenge for a daily usage. If you're wondering how this ROM differs from any other AOKP roms out there, I only have one thing to say: Try it yourself and choose the one that meets your requirements.

Hey bajee. Is PUB baked into your version? Seems PUB doesn't allow Google Voice to play the voicemails straight from the Phone app. Instead, it FCs each time I hit play. So, I'm stuck at using Nightlies 3/22.

Thank you Bajee and the crew for the great work. Do you or anyone else have any good Kernel recommendations (that support OC and custom boot animations) that work nice with the latest builds? I have tried a couple that worked in the past but nothing stable.

Just place your bootanimation in data/loca/ and it will override any system/media bootanimation even after a dirty flash.
Unstoppable ROM at the moment,no issues so far.

Excuse me if this seems out of place or should be in a different section.
Does this ROM address correcting the wifi mobile data hand-off issue in 4.3. Or does that issue no longer exists? I have been on a 4.2 ROM for a few weeks b/c I like having not having to manually switch between wifi and data.
Vanir for the S3?! Woooooooah!
Looks like there's some bugs to be worked out but I can't wait to run this. Been using it on my Nexus 7 as my daily driver for a while.

This is what happened to me when I flashed. Signal would come and go and the error would keep popping up every time I clicked ok.
Hope this gets sorted because I love Vanir on my Nexus 7.

GApps
I use BaNKS Dynamic GApps: http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/?rom=banks&device=gapps
If you use another kind, and it works, please let me know and I will add it.
Kernels
@Khaon's kernel works perfectly with this ROM and will hopefully soon be included by default. For now, you must flash separately. Double tap 2 wake will not work without his kernel.
Bugs
None yet that I know of. Let me know of any that you find and please include a logcat or I cannot guarantee it will be fixed!
Change Log
General Changelog
Disclaimer: I'm going to be completely honest with all of you; I started learning how to build ROMs about 3 months ago and have spent countless hours of learning/reading. This is only my second ROM that I have built. That being said, I am far away from being one of the many great developers here. I just build from their source and make it compatible for our device. There may be bugs here and there as I am still new at this so please bear with me, post a logcat with any bugs you find, and I will do my best to fix it!
Glad to see this.
Awesome... Thank you
@hawkstwelve
Hi,
Since you have recently also become the de facto maintainer of Chroma ROM for manta, let me ask you, how does this compare to that in terms of stability/battery life/usability? Are there any major feature differences? Is there any reason for a Chroma user to switch to this?
Thanks.
I haven't gotten to spend a good enough amount of time with either ROM to judge battery. They both seem smooth and stable to me. Best way to tell is run one for a week, another the next week. You'll get a good judge on which one you like better and a good idea on battery/stability.

(Edited) I man going to have to pass on this one. It is just not my kind rom. I will PM you as to not clutter up this thread with posts about another rom. I tried to PM and it wouldn't let me, it said "no such user" but I will try again with an explanation.

Well I'm hoping the quiet-ness in here is due to there being no issues... ? I'm trying to integrate Khaon's kernel into the build but it'll take me another day or two to figure some more stuff out. Then I'll try and sync up and get another build out for you guys.

That is enabled per the kernel. Flash Khaon's kernel and dt2w will be enabled by default. That was one of the reasons I've been trying to implement his kernel by default, but that's proving to be a little more difficult than originally thought.
Update: Just want you guys to know that I have not left development on this ROM. I am working as much as I can on integrating Khaon's kernel into the build, which in order to do so, I had to switch toolchains. I first tried to compile using UBERTC but that was a no-go. Now I am trying to compile with SaberMod and with a little bit of help from tobitege (over on BlissPop), I am hoping all will go well now. I am learning all of this as it comes/as I go so it takes me a little longer than other, more experienced devs. Worst comes to worst, I will just compile a build using the updated sources and get it out to you guys soon. But hopefully this build will go good and we can all reap the benefits of Khaon's kernel right off a fresh flash.
Give me a little bit more time, an update is coming in the near future one way or another.
