who said stock always runs ur game at higher freq...Download onscreen performance monitor app and yu can see the difference...for NFSMW at max it takes 3 cores to run but most of the times ly 2 cores are active....also there is a file called thermald-8064.conf in /system/etc which can be used to underclock the core to 1026 mhz which applies to all cores....If yu knw how to mod the stock rom for use everything is possible..also remember stock kernels are more safe than any custom kernels...may be it applies to ly LG devices fa sure...

Dear hasan
I thing there is miss understand I didn't mean that the stock kernel work at the max power but what I want to say that we must know that some developers can do good work even more better then some company's . CM is good example and even some company push customer to use non stock ROM with there weak support and update...
.... Using CM on your Optimus G let you make sure that the stock ROM is sooo bad behind it,,, I was thing different before ..
Hhhh
You let me lose my question friends any idea about kernel ???

@ramiab8,if you think an unofficial rom is better than the firmware lg provided, thrn why do you have these issues? Your post should be ignored from start, because no one will support you for a custom rom. There are so many things that could go wrong on cm/pa/aosp/aokp roms... and you have no idea what are you talking about. Could you tell me how does cm "let behind stock so bad?" For bigger results in benchmarks?who gives a crap about tests?I tried all custom roms out there, didn't missed one,but in the end i got back to stock. Why?well, for all lg features, for a stable firmware that don't crash on me when i least expect. True,it's a modded stock, but it's way better than any aosp. I play alot of games,i never encountered the slightest issues so far.

Indeed LG did a very good job in terms of gaming performance on android 4.1. Nevertheless it can be even better. I have never had those problems on CM10.2 nor on CM11. All mentioned games are running lagless, without reducing my display-brightness
maybe you can try again with another kernel?

Dear kimitza i thing that you don't know what you are talking about at all !!!! first everyone can have issues in original ROM and non stock ROM (you never heard about that !!!!) nothing can be complete be I SAID more better that is totally different !!! i thing you have no idea about what i am saying !!! and even you are talking about benchmarks !!! i didn't say any word about benchmark!!! even i didn't trust them i only trust the real use (did you ever heard about real using or not !!!) i am very hard user i find many disappointing in using the stock and these things i didn't find them in CM !!! (before i was thing like you but after test i found that is wrong) maybe as normal user you can find stock more better for you !!! if you are happy in LG features i find them like baby features!!! at the end i asked question but you are not able to answer me !!! if you thing that what i say not right for you don't answer me at all and don't try to give me lesson in something i know more better then many others !!!
Boing! Dude try latest version of Vanir 4.3.1. Thinks its the best performing aosp rom for our phone. And they're still updating, not like cm. MC4 awesome, A8 on highest settings also really good.
why did you bought a branded phone?to flash aosp based rom on it?why didn't you bought a nexus?it has vanilla on it,no "baby features". Then you wouldn't complain of laggy games on custom roms.I see what kind of power user you are ...I just don't understand how could someone complain about anything on a custom rom, without realising it's not the phone,it's the software with issues.Again, a power user would know the differences,but....what do i know?i'm a total newbie.

I have TELUS HTC desire 2.1 no root or mods when I go to text everything i type is delayed and then will just pop up all at once and then when I go to actually send my text it takes up to two minutes sometimes to appear in the messages as being sent. Quite frequently it will also force close almost daily. Anyone else having a same issue?
I have this exact same problem. My Telus Desire seems to be so sluggish. Would installing a custom ROM fix these problems?
HTC desire is one of the snappiest devices I ve ever used. but I have unlocked phone so not sure If it is carrier specific . I would suggest getting a replacements or flashing. A cUstom Rom or factory reset
And TELUS promise 2.2 mid October and still nothin idk how to fix this phone its very sluggish I have unlocked the phone and using it with Rogers
Unlocking the phone will not make it faster, your carrier has filled it with bloatware or screwed the rom.
Install one of the many great roms from here and you will see the difference.
Can u please tell me how ? And do I have to be rooted ? Is there any one click rooting . Which Rom is good that must have app2sd . Sorry I came from xperia x10 , HTC desire is totally different
I have the same phone and is unlocked to Fido.
I don't have much delays anywhere yet.
I only gripe about the battery life !

yes you have to be rooted, use the unrevoked 3 method for mine worked piece of cake follow the tutorial on here, then install a custom rom after you do a backup, you will definetly see the difference try cynogenmod, my desire is definetly the fastest ph ive ever had and have certainly not had the problems you guys are talking about! let me me know how u go
desire with 2.1 is sluggish, 2.2 is a massive speed boost and if you unroot it add ad2sd+ and some custom kernel with CFQ scheduler the speed will amaze you

after youve rooted the easiest way to install roms is to download rom manager from market. MAKE SURE YOU DO A BACKUP BEFORE INSTALLING A NEW ROM
then you can download a rom straight to your ph from this website in :desire android development forum and then install it via rom manager,
happy ROOTING!!!!!
Thank you soo much bro ill try that ASAP. Does the Rom u have does that have sense UI and app2sd ?

I think u should update your phone to android 2.2 froyo.
Super fast!
Not running Froyo yet, no root, stock ROM (waiting for Telus Froyo release).
Super fast, super smooth,
I find it slows down after about 2 weeks of always on, but a re-start fix's that.
I read 'droids have slow-down because of how the OS operates, so restart your device at least once a week.
I won't even bother to flash a ROM until there is a stable Gingerbread ROM available........maybe Root after 2.2 update.
Still very impressed with the device + GPS connects in 3 secs ( much to dismay of my samsung friends )

The stock rom is probably what you want to stay on for stability. if you want really cool customization and tweaks go with a custom rom, but remember if you are on a custom rom you cant take OTA updates from google.
I know that, but I think also about, is it really possible, that maybe 10 people can make a better Rom? Google has many employees which working on this for long time. Sorry my english isnt perfect, I hope you understand what I mean.

You have to remember that the majority of people probably dont want a phone which they can customise in any which way that they want. Google need to cater for the masses and create an OS that is at least relatively simple.
Individuals on forums such as these however, feel differently and love the chance for customization. The developers working on after market ROMS create those options and customizations for people that really want them. And their ROMS are based on the source code provided by Google and their many employees - so nothing is lost in that sense.
This is what I think any way!

Are they all "better"? No. Do they offer more features/customization? Yes. Do these features/customization often break something that already works? Yes.

Sometimes it's only one "dev" kanging code.
Regardless, we have some VERY talented devs here. And it's not like they are creating android from scratch, they are using the code that Google has open sourced, so all of the custom roms are essentially STOCK + unique features not part of AOSP. This also makes them not as stable as stock android, pick your poison

I think custom roms can often be more stable because bugs are constantly found and fixed on a daily basis. A stock rom may have a bug but will take months for the next update from google.
Also custom roms are just stock roms with additions, so its the same code base anyway.
its mostly about the tweaks that Google didn't put in .. all roms are the same to me since they all base off 4.0.x unless someone builds a sense or Touchwiz rom.
The only thing that makes roms different is the feature list and kernel

It's all very easy once you do it a few times. Customization is awesome. Like the full screen mod getting rid of the softkeys so anything that your doing (game, videos, etc) that keeps the softkeys there, will now be full screen without the softkeys. Just little things like that plus much more than make custom roms better than stock.

Bugs are constantly found for custom ROMs because they've not been tested so much compared to stock before they are being released. (Not saying that stock is bug free but each official version has gone through aggressive testing)
If stability and security are your top concerns then stay stock - this is a no-brainer. Custom ROMs are for people who are more adventurous and want to have more fun with their phones.
So there are more people on Stock or on Custom Roms ? I heard that many people say its a "developer phone", but on the other Hand people say they bought it because they dont want to flash anymore C-Roms.

Of course there are way more people on stock than rom flashers. People like my mom got the phone to use it, not to flash ROMs.
When people said 'it's a developer phone', it doesn't mean the phone is not suitable for daily use or only developers know how to use it. On the contrary, it's a phone that showcases how the latest OS SHOULD look and feel like. It serves as a reference point to how developers should design their apps.

The thing with all product discussion forums is, people will only post/seeking help if they ran into problems. (Will you go to a Samsung forum and start a thread with 'my TV/camera is working as intended?' ) So these forums are always filled with error reports/complaints. Sometimes it's hard to see if it's really error by design or just the unlucky few with defective devices.
XDA makes it even more complicated because this is a modding community. Half of the complaints are probably just human errors - bad flash, wrong radio, incompatible apps the list goes on...
Long answer short, you DON'T have to mod your phone to reap all its benefits. You are not missing out things if you don't want to customize it.
I completly agree, thats why I also started this thread. I was talking with some people about it. Its nice to customize, but do i need these small things with the possibility to get issues

I was actually talking about bugs in stock. Its much quicker to fix them in custom roms since the fix will be rolled out in a few days, but we'd be waiting months to get the same fix from google in an update.
Sure new bugs from custom roms may appear too from the new additions. But its still all the stock code base anyway...
ROMs are usually the result of tweaking, prodding, removal to enhance the phone's ability to function. Some things aren't necessary, and some things can be made to cater to a specific user. Obviously, google cannot cater to individual needs, but that's why so many ROMs exist, you can found out what you like and stick to it!
That's why I switched to android from my iPhone 4s. I love messing with my phone, and android is the platform that encourages this

3. Easy to use.

1-Omega rom v6.0

No offense but you'll never "see the point" until you try one out for yourself. Custom Roms offer more than you can possibly imagine if you know what you're doing. All it takes to know what you're doing, is to read as much as you possibly can, because everything you'll need to know is located in these forums! There's definitely a reason why people go "crazy" over these custom roms!

I found HyperNote 0.4 with RedPill v.1.0 a very good solution. No matter what other ROM I try, I will be back on that combo pretty fast. IMHO it cuts out all the unnecessary stuff, while keeping the goodies alive (I love quick glance for example). Only downside is that the devs will only support official releases, means we are still waiting for an update to 4.1.2. Also I think their most efforts go now into HyperDroid (which is based on CM10). But then again, why fix something that works pretty perfect already.
The problem with hypernote is that they will reduce dpis further and it'd eventually get too low.
Hi there,
I don't know, if it's my imagination, but I think the tegra3 is not powerful enough to play games like "Need for Speed" or "Shadowgun THD". While playing I'm experiencing fps-drops and laggy tracking shots in cutscenes. I've also tested the gaming boost app, which changed nothing in my opinion.
When I look at a friend's Nexus4, everything is buttery smooth. But: 1080p playback with BS-Player also works smooth as hell on my HOX (with MHL to my TV too). So I think, it's a little bit strange, that I can't play properly.
Someone also encountering this gaming-issue or is it just me?
Well the problem is sense is very heavy requires more ram and htc stock kernel doesn't make the most of the phone so if you want to take most out of your phone flash an aosp rom with ncx kernel repacked for it

Thanks for your answer. But I would miss sense a lot. So is there any chance of a + in performance with a sense rom?
If you are on stock there is not much I can suggest for you to do. With certain games like need for speed, modern combat etc. it is up to the game developer to optimise it for the device. Unfortunately with some of them like Gameloft there games are not properly optimised for the one x.
If you are rooted and on a custom rom though, there are other possibilities. You can go for a non sense rom like Cyanogenmod, stripped down versions of sense like Renovate, or there are even mods which speed up the device like Renovate gaming boost.

Yes, it could definitely improve it if it has this issue.

Try it, and let me know if there's any difference. Sounds like this might be an issue. The zip only cleans the free space and makes it writable again. Over time it becomes unusable, fstrim repairs it. Doesn't do any harm.
It may be another problem, but this is likely.

I tried all steps mentioned in the first paragraph, changed nothing (instead of much more battery-heat).

Yes, it could definitely improve it if it has this issue.

changed also nothing.
btw: I'm currently on "TrickDroid v2.0.0" - don't know, if this is important to you.

That is JB 4.1.1
We obviously know Gingerbread is Rock stable then ICS. I am currently planning on going back to Gingerbread WITHOUT leaving behind any ICS feature like the Multitasking feature or the Apollo Music app. Is there any possible ways to do it?
First of all , you should go to recovery mode (clockworkmod) and go to mounts and format ( /cache /data /system) and reboot the phone ,
when it shuts down press power+vol down to get to the download mode
and then you do a regular software via Odin .. here is the link of how to software your Galaxy Wonder!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467128
for the firmware go to sammobile.com and choose the galaxy w (you should sign there ... )
Cheers..

I think you misinterpreted his question wrongly. I think he was asking if he could bring over the multitasking features over to GB. Not removed it clean

Sorry to tell but I didn´t Honestly Gingerbread was really unstable for me. Rebootet almost everytime I took a look at my SGW.
No, not really that bad but sponatnious reboots occured sometimes whereas CM9 ran rock solid even in Alpha stage. This for months without turning the device off and it´s performance didn´t decrase like GB when it was already running for 2 or 3 days.
Another disadvantage in using GB is not being able to Greenify your Apps and and the worse memory management and thus all your apps like facebook running all the time in the background till you kill them manually.
But to answer your question, no you can´t exept you are a really skilled Dev who will rewrite all the code. But in this case you also could develop a completely new ROM or simply port Ubuntu Touch, Apples IOS or the Firefox OS within 5 minutes on this device.

stock gb is rock solid.
99% bug free (it means all its functions on the phone r working),
1% human bug (screw up the phone n blame it).
new jb/ics kernel/software r not 100% backwards compatible due to old hw becoz lag of newly design functions.
most universe scripts in xda r generally for other hp.
lucky scripts did no harm, becoz most scripts written on non existence parameters on sgw.
if they do hits on some parameters, it likely will brick ur hp or do nothing becoz already at its optimal.
so far, i've scan many scripts n found tat they r completely no use except for two (zip_init and adrenoboost v0.3) r useful.
stock gb rom r optimized, fine tune vm if u know wat to do. :good:

Ok, if the stock GB is so fantastic can you explain why Samsung released several updated to fix some "issues"?
Doesn´t make really sense if it´s 99% bugfree.

Sorry but that´s another nonsense. Never kernels, software or firmware not compatible with older hardware just because the older hardware might be to slow and therefore lagging?
Sorry to tell but this is bull$hit and contradictory. It´s the other way around. In newer software, be it kernel, rom or whatever, the developers take care to support older hardware, but can´t do this in older software which is outdated and not developed further and often also missing drivers for the newer hardware.
They can also fix bugs which were made in older software (kernels, firmware and apps) and the timeline is going forward due to it´s physical rules, not backwards. There were also no Aliens or machines who developed GB in the past but humans working for Google, who lerned further by knowing the issues they have made in the past to make it better in the future.
ICS and JB is the further developement of GB and the developers behind this newer ROMs are still the same humans. Just more clever now then they where while developing GB
Between a newer ROM just lagging and an older ROM randomly rebooting there is a huge difference.
So stop spreading such nonsense where you contradict yourself, else I will suggest you to use the oldest and "most bugfree way" (as a corollary of your statements) to comunicate by using carrier pigeons.
u r confused.
there r no update after gb kernel 2.3.6, gb kernel 2.3.7 is for nexus wallet update only.
wat update r u talking about??
if it is software, old software need to update so tat it can work with new or the latest.
i still using stock gb with my own tweaks, works perfect fine n bugfree, there no need to tell me.
u dun have to be so work up, u only screw urself up more often than not. :cyclops:

I´m not confused. It´s more you are confused because you obviously have no clue what you are talking about, nor why there is no kernel update for GB and even what´s the difference between 2.3.6 and 2.3.7.
And just by the way. The latest GB kernel for the SGW is 2.6.35 but not 2.3.6.
And since you even don´t know what update I´m talking about, I suggest you to flash the very first GB ROM the SGW was released with. I bet it will be better than the current one you are using
ok, u r rite about kernel version, android version stop at 2.3.6. n 2.3.7 is for nexus.
is stock gb rom is unstable? :silly:
my stock runs better than b4 (wo samsung widget apps).

Dude, what are you talking about.??? This is really pure nonsense. I can send you a 2.3.6 ROM for a Huawei Smartphone. You can flash it on your SGW and see if it works and I assure you it will brick your phone. Or I can send you JeallyBean for the same phone which is older than our SGW but got updated to JB.
