I asked this question a while back and still haven't figured it out. When opening up the messenger app, there is the paper clip to attach files to send out file attachments. There used to be an option to attach audio and when you would choose it, it would bring up all of your mp3's clips you have in storage so you could choose and attach whichever you want to send. That option has been missing for a while now and I was wondering how to get it back. Does anyone know a way? Do you have to move something in root browser to get it to appear again?

No matter what I try I cannot send any audio or video files.
The MMS application shuts down without notice or warning when I try to add either of those types of files (jpgs attach ok as far as I can tell).
If I use File Explorer and right-click a file and choose to send by MMS, the MMS app will open briefly and then shut down.
If I use the Photo/Video viewer to try to attach a file, I don't even get the MMS app at all.
I also tried Resco Explorer just in case but that does the same thing as the native Windows file explorer.
Any ideas?
It's an 8525 with WM 6.
Can I replace the built-in MMS app with something else? Or is there a away to get an updated version of the built-in one?
Thanks.
Hello,
I'm new to this forum but have done a google search for my problem. It seems like it's still an ongoing problem that doesn't have a solution as of yet.
My problem/issue is with MMS messages that contain more than one picture. I've got handcent and the original messaging app that came with my droid incredible.
The best way I know to describe the problem in detail is to give an example. Let's say I received an MMS message that contained 10 pictures. With handcent, I would download the message and it would/could come in in different ways. Sometimes it'll only show me the first picture(view thru some sort of picture manager), sometimes it would show me the first and last as some sort of a movie, and then sometimes it would show the entire set of pictures in a movie type format that would last for 1-2 minutes give or take with no way of scrolling from picture to picture. However, unless it shows all the pictures in a movie type format there is no way to view every picture unless I go into the messaging app that came on the phone.
When using the messaging app on the phone the MMS message comes in in 1 of 2 ways. The first is a slideshow that shows every picture with an option to scroll from picture to picture. I'm pleased with this and would like all of these types of messages to come in this way. The second is the pictures come in as attachments. With this I'm only able to view the picture one by one. I have to click on what picture I want to view then choose between "View or save to SD card" then choose how to complete the action by choosing between "View picture or ASTRO Image Viewer".
My question is why doesn't all MMS messages like this not automatically come in as a slideshow where I can manually flip between pictures, either with the messaging app that came with the phone or with handcent? Is this a droid issue, specific phone issue, etc.? Is there a system setting that needs to be changed or a phone update I need to do? I had an LG Dare before this phone and all messages like this came in in slideshow form and I could flip between each picture.
This is the only problem I'm having with this phone. It's rooted and I'm running RR rom. I just want to be able to view each and every picture by scrolling or thumbing through the message. It's just amazing to me that a phone with this capability would have an issue like this
Thanks for any help!

No i have not, im unrooted so i cannot search thru files in order to delete the root directory of these,
i should make a note on this as i think the cause was a app called ANDROID DEFRAG, <--- i recommend staying away from that app.
i tried loading a few of the pics via sharing / open with messaging app and a few showed.
all the details for the pics are there except for ORIENTATION which shows ZERO .
none of these pics show in connection to pc either cannot locate the files, like to edit them to try and make them appear but at this point a way to delete the files would suffice!
So, I have the GS3. Rooted, and am running the Leak (latest with LIH updates -radio, firmware, etc)
I've notice that with the JB update, there is now a change in the contacts app, related to images. It used to show an option to set a picture that's used on one of the joined accounts as the default image when referencing that contact.
Like if I wanted to see a Facebook pic on one person, but a manually set image on another, I'd go to the contact, edit the contact, tap the pic, and choose an option to use as default (or however it was phrased). But that option is now gone altogether, and I have images from my people's own networks being shown when I wanna see something other than their dog.
Any idea on how to get this functionality back? I'm really hoping the official update brings this back.
Thanks guys.
[Solved]
Figured it out.
While viewing the contact (not while editing it) hit menu, then there's an option that says "Set as Default."
This will take ya to a screen listing all the mixtures for caller ID, phone number, email, etc... and give you radio buttons to choose which ones you want as the default for each.
The one for the caller I'd sets the default pic for the contact.
While I am used to my Thunderbolt, which I just put to rest for my new SGN2, I find myself doing a bit of comparing between the two phones.
I am rooted with JellyBomb 9.0 now, but I was always able to hook my Tbolt up to my PC and view pictures from my phone files (DCIM, etc...) as PICTURES. With this new SGN2, I only get to see icons (the icon says JPG with a mini icon for Microsoft office pictures attached to the JPG icon. I actually have to click on each icon to open the picture which is awful since I take so many pictures.
I also noticed that I can't send multiple pictures as attachments anymore like I used to with my Tbolt. It says I can only send one at a time and then I must reopen the phone file and scroll through everything all over again.
I also have issues getting my pc's to recognize my phone. I keep getting hardware id missing popping up next to my pc's clock. If I go back and forth between MTP and the PTP or unplug and replug enough times, occasionally the PC will find the phone.
Am I doing something wrong??????
I'm open to any and every suggestion
Thanks

As for your first question, I can view all my pictures on internal or external storage on my PC through "My Computer" as thumb nails everytime. Maybe it's how your viewing it or the program your using to view it.
As for your second question, simply go to your gallery open the album you want to send pics from. If you want to send multiple pics in one mage from food albums then make an album with the pics you want to send in it. Or just view all pics at once, hit 'Menu' then 'select multiple' small boxes appear at the top right of each pic. Click each pic you want one by one full your done. Then while the ones you want to send are selected hit the symbol to the top right next to delete which is the Share button. Then pick your method of sharing either email or messages etc. It will automatically loaf all the pics on one message, then compile any text with it if you wish. Fill out intended recipient and send.
In short to answer the thread. .. It's you

Twisted, Perhaps it's not me. You told me about your success on question #1 but didn't bother to explain what the issue might be.
The fact that you can see your pics internally or externally is wonderful, but how is that helping my problem??
Thanx for the twisted advice
I have the same issue and find it quite annoying. I've mostly had all HTC devices before and the sd card contents show up fine along with all hidden folders etc. I don't have the same view on my GN2. All the hidden files don't show and only jpeg icons. Stock Rooted Deodexed rom.

I have had the problem viewing picture as thumbnails also. In what I have researched, it may be Windows 7 and probably Vista and how it iteracts with both my GS3 and GN2. If you google " pictures not showing up as thumbnails in Windows...." you will get a ton of results. I have tried a couple, but havent gotten too deep into it yet. Something about the way Windows caches the thumbnails and eventually the cache is full and has to be cleaned out to keep seeing thumbnails instead of file icons. That might give you something to go on... Good luck.
I don't have any advise on the picture issue. I just don't take many pictures. I just use picture preview in file explorer and scroll to confirm which I want to upload to Flickr.
As for the Missing Hardware ID, I don't have a solution, but it is a known issue by Microsoft and Samsung; they blame each other from what I read. Basically, there is a wrong driver downloaded from Microsoft for the Samsung mobile drivers. Some people have had success using the earlier drivers; you have download and disconnect your computer form the internet completely before connecting your phone to your PC after installing the earlier drivers. I've done this, but still have the issue, but I can get it to work with fewer plugging and unplugging the usb cable.
