Well I updated mine successfully in the UK. my first impressions are as follows. First installed without wiping data and the screen awake bug was there. phone would not sleep. always kept awake with screen turned off. reinstalled software with wiping data and although the issue is still there, its not as bad. Battery life has definitely improved. Handset and user experience is a lot smoother. Quite impressed actually. There is a wifi bug. Connection is fine but signal strength is not there so wifi will disconnect every few minutes. was fine before update. Quick launch button is okay. its a hit and miss affair. works 2 out of 3 times. Widgets load a lot faster. No new apps apart from Wisepilot is now called Wisepilot for Xperia. No other noticeable improvements. Will give it a few days to see if there are any more bugs or if anything else has improved. Really annoyed as I don't understand what is keeping the phone awake. I've done everything to sort this out but clearly its a bug that Sony has not been successful in resolving. This eats up irrelevant battery. Although its not as bad as it was on the previous fw I was on. Any help would be greatly appreciated in rectifying this problem. One more thing, camera focus has improved vastly as has face recognition and auto scene recognition. Focusing is a lot quicker and better

Flashed the .45 cz rom yesterday with complete wipe & factory reset. Everything works smoother/faster on this new firmware wrt previous ICS versions. But my biggest concern i.e quicklaunch bug is still there (although it seems improved than before). Bravia engine still doesn't work for me on any ICS rom. Still checking the battery backup on this one. I wonder why many still face these two issues on ICS (and not on any GB roms) .

you mean Home launcher supports landscape mode?
Anybody got root access to the latest firmware yet?
home launcher was also able to be used in landscape mode since GB. Usually this is only possible when connected to HDMI. But I also recognized that it also works without HDMI connected sometimes. Might be a bug that sometimes it is also possible to use it in landscape without hdmi connected.
At the moment i recognize a shorter battery life yesterday. Today it already seems to get better.

yes.. there is a thread in the general section about preserving root. And I think there is a zip Rom in the development section for those with unlocked boot loaders

Even though there is not much difference than the bumped up processor between Xperia S and SL, I felt the lack of my brand new Xperia SL thread in XDA. So I just started this for my and other proud Xperia SL user's satisfaction.
Processor 1.7 GHz Qualcomm MSM8260 Dual Core
GPU Adreno 220
Size 128 x 64 x 10.6 mm
Weight 144 grams
Available colours Black / White / Silver / Pink
Main screen
Colours 16,777,216 colour TFT
Resolution 1280x720 pixels
Size (diagonal) 4.3 inches
Scratch-resistant Shatter proof sheet on scratch-resistant glass
Memory
Internal phone storage 1 to 1.5 GB
RAM 1 GB
Flash memory 32 GB eMMC
Camera
Camera resolution 12 MP
Digital zoom 16x
Photo flash No
Video recording Yes – HD 1080p
Video chat camera Yes
Front Camera Yes – HD 720p for video chat and 1.3 MP for camera capture
General questions:
Unlockable Bootloader?
Apparently yes!
Is the clear band at the bottom going to be used for notifications?
Yes it is. But unlike Xperia U Sony used white LEDs this time to make it classy but not funky!
Hardware Mods are there to change colours though.
What's this about the battery?
Well for one it is indeed not removable
Removing the battery is pretty trivial as demonstrated in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lHsf...layer_embedded
On the good side though it is supposed to have a new 'fast charge' technology that charges the phone rapidly to 80% and then basically tricle charges it from that point, so if you need a quick boost you're in luck
Micro SIM?
I'm afraid so
Here's how to cut down a standard size sim to a micro sim though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lb1Wv...eature=related
You can also pick up some pretty cheap devices (which look a bit like a hole-punch / stapler) from ebay that will cut it for you, if scissors scare you for some reason.
Micro SD card?
Nope
NFC?
Yes - and uses smart-tags so you can automatically setup a profile for home, work etc just by tapping your phone against a tag.
Does it have FM radio?
Yes! It has FM radio with RDS
Here are few tricks at a glance:
System info (phone, battery, used and WiFi information)
*#*#4636#*#* (INFO) - Works on all Android devices
Service menu - The classic one that we are used to see from ages on ericsson and sony ericsson phones. (service info, device tests, etc...)
*#*#7378423#*#* (SERVICE)
Demo - Used in stores for demonstration, a video demonstrates the product when we push the power button and acts as a normal phone when we touch it.
*#*#73556673#*#* (sellmore) - choose activate. To deactivate just enter the same code again.
To reboot your phone (because you can't remove the battery) press and hold at same time the power and volume up keys till it reboot.
SCREENSHOT: Holding down the power button now brings you a different menu compared to Android 2.3.7. Most users will probably notice that the ‘Take screenshot’ option has disappeared. Android ICS now allows you to take screenshots by holding down the power button and volume down button at the same time.
SAFE MODE: - even if I have no clue how to use it, any help?
1- Power off the phone
2- Turn it back on then right after hold the menu, and release when you feel the 2nd vibration
3- If you see SAFE MODE on down left of the screen, you did it
4- To leave SAFE MODE just reboot the phone.

To the op I have changed the title of your thread.
Nothing personal but given the diversity of the people on xda I think this will be more appropriate.

Nope. Sony Update Service says the .45 is the latest for the SL
Hello, I have bought an Xperia SL, and i have lots of questions to ask. Im pretty confused to some thread/post i read somewhere, but still it remains question, and also i have posted this in Q&A Thread, but no one answered yet so il just post this again.
So here are my questions about this handset.
- Does it support Fast Charging capability using the quick charger? I read that newer versions of XS without the yellowtinting, the feature was removed, so how about SL?
- Does the Anti Stain Shell still a Feature of Xperia SL?
- Does Xperia SL have Bluetooth 3.0 or 2.1? My MW600 does have a sec delay when playing games, but what could be the cause of these delay?
- Is WIFI DIRECT is still a feature of Xperia S or SL? I read that feature is questionable or not existing but sony have advertised this feature for XS
- Yellow Tint and CPU Throttling underclocked cpu when over heating?
- Change logs for Update .50 or .55, is it really released? Im still using .45, and update is not yet available here.

- So far so good here no yellow tint on my SL and yes,CPU onderclocks itself when heating up to prevent overheating
(It decreases to 800 MHz,but you can always use apps like SetCPU to set it back to normal)
- Yep,the .45 firmware is the latest for our SL it seems, but you can always use the Xperia S' firmwares with no problem
(I've tried it myself, but make sure to do a backup first )

Yes the fast charging is only up to 80% (or 90%?) so it's safer for the battery. But,according to this post, you may need to think twice for fast charging

Hello
I noticed a strange case, and so far I can not find its causes, so ask. Model 12W14 ABAC, soft XTX7, Lock. bootloader, touch firmware 7. When i turn on some heavy 3D games, and playing a while the screen itself slightly reduces its brightness, and when i return to the os menu for a while it returns to the level previously set by me (in my case 100%)
What could be causing this? I do not think that it was a light sensor (ambient light sensor) I've noticed it recently, and I'm not sure is that previously occurred. After a series of tests, I noticed that the screen after reaching temperature (above 42C) changes in brightness (more cool colors, less saturated). I do not have any yellow spots, but its surprise me. And now my question - whether mounted screens in this series have been so, and it is only due to the fact that they are in LCD technology, and thats how they react to heat, or any other reason? Or is this a bug in ICS firmware
Maybe u can try app 'disable auto brightness for xperia' in play store. Hope can help u and pls reply the result...

Temperature
I have exactly the same problem and I'm pretty sure that it's related to temperature.
By looking at other threads, I understand that I need a de-odexed rom and change something in init.d.
But what are these things?!
Isn't there any noob guide around?
This issue is totally on my nerve.

Hello again to all the xda members .
I have bought Samsung Galaxy Grand duos i9082 few days ago & have some problems & some queries .
1. When I switch my device off I can't hear the turn off sound anymore , but in sound settings all the system sound are set in a high volume. So I would like to know from where or how can I turn on the switch off sound just like before ?
2. Well the 2nd question might sound like strange , when I went to the shop to buy the device , they show me the live demo set (Samsung Galaxy Grand duos i9082) they have in the store , I noticed that I don't need to touch the lock screen to unlock it , just a swap of my hand over the screen without any touch , then a friend of mine also tried that & happened the same . I'm 200 percent sure the device was Samsung Galaxy Grand duos i9082 & we didn't touch the screen to unlock it . Even that device can show videos on the screen , well the shop keeper was also a noob like me , so he said that its a software installed by Samsung . But Unfortunately my Samsung Galaxy Grand duos i9082 doesn't have this feature .
So I would like to know is there any possibility to have that feature also on my device or am I missing something ? . :cyclops:

yup i agree with rejoice001... IR sensor is used by samsung for air gesture... but i have a little doubt about the difference between the two i mean air gesture and air view... air gesture uses IR sensor while probably air view uses proximity sensor probably.. want 2 know difference between two.. well if air view is related with proximity sensor (& front camera) then i think grand would b able to support the same...

Air view feature is used by front camera.. Do u notice about smart stay features in grand.. Screen stays as long as you are looking into it.. if you are watching any movies, it will pause automatically when you turn your face from front camera.. And when u concentrate on the screen will resume the watching video.. This feature is implemented in gs4. This is called air view feature.. And u can scroll Web pages using your eyes up and down... This features works only on stock browser and video player... Proximity sensor- when you are in call it emits a weak infrared rays for a small distance say 1cm,, which hits on your head and gives signal back to phone...from this,, phone recognises some object is there... its time to turn off the screen.. Thus saves battery... If you keep the phone away,,say,, you have to search some contacts in between the call , sensor recognise there is no obstruction,, thus screen turns on automatically..Now a days most battery savers using this technology.. If you forgot to turn off the screen and it's kept on your pocket screen turns off immediately.. There is one more application called smart cover.. If you using a flip cover.. When u close screen turns off.. When u open flip cover the screen turns on automatically.. Like this u can saves more battery... Hope u got my point..last and least.. There is no relation between air view and proximity sensor...

First of thanks to both of you for giving some valuable infos , for clearing some of my doubts I went to that shop again this evening & asked them to show that device again . The device acted like just before & checked the model no. in device status , it was Samsung Galaxy Grand duos i9082 .
Anyway I have noticed two circles in the front , beside the front camera , one is proximity sensor but what is the other one ? is it working any good ?
& also kindly pay attention to the first question also which is about turning on the switch off sound . Your help is really needed .

So I would like to know is there any possibility to have that feature also on my device or am I missing something ? . :cyclops:

put ur phone in mute or vibration profile..now turn off your phone and turn it on...now you wont have bootanimation sound till you change your phone profile to sound...

Facing another issue while using two SIM cards in my Grand .
I have noticed that my SIM 1 is giving good internet speed when I'm using one SIM in my device ,
when I use two SIM cards , the sim 1 (3G connection) is giving poor net speed .
Is there anyone facing the same or am I the only one ?

If you installed two sims... U can check this by opening a YouTube application.. If you using sim 1 the you tube video is low quality... If you changed to sim 2.you tube videos plays as a hd videos. This depends upon speed of the Internet.. From this you can understand that 3g sim slot is bit slower than 2g slot..

Hi,
Seems like an updated firmware is available with a fix for facebook. ( seems like this is released to moulnisky today only.
support.moulnisky.com/index.php?dir=Micromax/00_A%20Serie/A210/SW%20Versions/V3_28.08.14
I haven't checked or installed the new f/w. but in the Software history.xls file which is attached along with the link says so...
3 28-Aug-14 S9111_MB_V0.40 S9111B_MP_F2F3F5F8_B1_IN_MMX_14_FLASHER_USER "1.Front camera and Flash ic is changed, software is backward compatible with old hardwares.
2.Facebook Video issue fixed"
Its a known bug even on the stock rom of canvas 4

There is probably some display resolution error which micromax is not concerned to solve or they dont have quality engineers
because of which many games like cut the rope, vector MC4 are not running.
Perhaps you can install the following roms in which games as well as fb app videos work:
#1. Speed Rebirth v2:
1)This rom has no bugs and games work fb video works.
2) camera is lenovo supercam 13MP is quiet buggy but can be updated to get solved.
3) has soft navigation keys (eats up the screen space by 1cm). cuz the hard nav keys are lit off but are fuctioning which is annoying.
4)music app is walkman with sony equalizer. (If u need you can install Viper4android via playstore)
5)one more annoying thing I feel personally is that the status bar is almost filled due to the big network bars and slanted battery bar
#2. PureXperia Z2:
1)Even this rom is good except one bug which is due to the storage swap(internal is shown as external and external shown as internal) Even if you use the unswapper by default apps like whatsapp and facebook are installed on the external SD card as the system considers it as internal SD card.
2)camera is default SONY camera 13MP bugless.
3)Music app is Walkman updated with viper4android equalizer.
4)Initially this ROM didnt have the soft nav keys but the update brought the soft nav keys which are always annoying as we have got the hard nav keys functioning which cannot be disabled even if the backlight is off.
#3. Kitkat cynogenmod rom
1) Even this rom is good except the storage bug and the camera is down at 8MP.
4. Safari v3:
1) this is also a good rom to get a close to stock experiance and no storage bug but is quiet unstable sometimes wifi hotspot doesnt work GPS pull down button gets stucked (rarely).
2) camera is default camera of canvas 4 and is down at 8MP.
3)Music player is default SAMSUNG music player and has the viper4android equalizer.
4)Does not have the soft nav keys
Note: Due to battery tweaks there is a caliberation error but its safe because battery is shown 10% more than what it is in actual
Still I am working on ways to solve the problem on the default stock rom
