Works both on SS and DS
Its really frustrating to remove bloatware everytime you update your device, or flash a ftf to your device. So I created a flashable zip file which removes bloat apps from /system/app.
Removing essential apps from /system/app should be done with caution. If you delete any apps that are essential for functioning of Android, then, you may get stuck in bootloop. So I have carefully picked all the bloatware apps and removed them.
This is the list of bloatware apps that come with factory image

xxx app is included in the list. I dont want it to be removed. What do i do?
1)Open the zip file using a tool like 7zip. Navigate to META-INF > com > google > android .
2)Extract updater-script to your pc
3)Open the updater-script with Notepad++
4) the code will be something like
.
delete("/system/app/talkback.apk");
delete("/system/app/storefront.apk");
.
.

So if you dont want talkback to be removed, just delete the whole line, save the file and drag-drop it back to the same location in the zip file.

you are my hero
could you please confirm that 1) this is a procedure focused on xperia M 2) you tested it ?
My doubt comes from the fact that the list mentions many apps that I don't have and also apps that I would be surprised to find in a sony device (i.e. galaxy4.apk). The summary is that perhaps apps that can be safely removed in a samsung device can NOT be removed in a sony device.
Please say the truth if you really want to be helpful

galaxy4.apk is one of the Android standard live wallpaper, so it's actually pretty normal to be found on basically any Android devices.
This doesn't mean that I've tested the OP's work, just FYI.

1) Yes, this is a procedure focussed on Xperia M
2) Yes, i have personally tested this on Xperia M(c1905) as mentioned above
All the apps mentioned in the list can be found in /system/app partition.(Latest fw). Galaxy4.apk is the ""Galaxy" Live Wallpaper! also found in /system/app
Thanks to alvinhochun for the info and to the OP for confirming !
I'm looking forward to get rid of my bloatware but I'm also scared of boot loops if I delete the wrong application !
Edit : Solved the problem.
By the way this zip needs some update too.. I removed many apps manually after flashing this zip. It leaves the odex files in the system. For ex: galaxy.apk the galaxy.odex should not deleted in system.

the script seems to remove ALL the stock keyboard (textinput-chn.apk AND textinput-tng.apk); if you don't have a third party keyboard installed you end up with the only google voice as input method !!!

Flashed through flash gordon (locked bl) but all the apks are still in system/apps. I then tried to manually remove them with root explorer but it says cannot be removed. I am rooted as I'v been granting su permissions and using titanium backup successfully.

Mate when you flash, only some of them are removed for you automatically rest of them have to be removed by yourself like for me Google Movies wasn't removed and I had to uninstall it manually. Manually uninstalling it doesn't mean using Titanium Backup just uninstall like you would do to a normal app even then it will say do you want to uninstall all updates select OK and done it's removed go to system/app and check.

I understand but it literally didn't remove anything for me. I must have done something wrong.
By manually uninstalling i meant navigating to system/app and individually deleting apks, that's not working for me either.

Hi, Im looking through my Evo and I see stock.apk but im uncertain if that is stocks application (stock market stuff) or if its some stock (default) component of sprint...
Could someone confirm if Stock.apk and Stock.odex are safe to delete?
Thank you!!
Yes it's safe if you don't use stocks.

Not its not safe to just delete the odex, apk and odex use one another so if you remove the odex then you also have to remove the apk.

Hey, i deleted some system apps, which i will never need again.
First you need Titanium Backup. You find it in the Market.
So you´re able to save your apps and then unistall it. But dont uninstall everything...some apps are very important!
I only uninstalled apps, which are not to use on the flipout but uses disk space.
Files you can delete:
ESMusica
HipHopOfficial
Kodak Perfect Touch
QuickOffice (i have QuickOffice Pro installed)
RevolverTV
SIM Toolkit 2.1 update 1
TrueCountry 2.0.0012
Youtube (i replaced it with the android2.3 youtube)
There are a lot more apps to delete but some apps need a similar app to replace e.g. blur launcher...the phone won´t start if there is no similar launcher added before..
have fun
Thanks, can anyone post some more disposable applications here?
Sent from my MotoMB511 using XDA App
Here are the names I found on mine:
hiphopofficial.apk
esmusica.apk
revolver.apk
YouTube.apk
KPT.apk (kodak stuff)
Quickoffice_BasicViewer_2_0_26_NSTL_Signed_2010-05-04_19-41-13.apk truecountry.apk
Stk.apk (sim toolkit, i think)
Added to your list:
ArcVideoEditorLite.apk
@Schallstoerer
can you post your upgraded youtube apk ?
no problem!
you have to rename it in youtube.apk!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817528
1. download the apk
2. delete old youtube.apk from /system/app/youtube.apk with root explorer
3. restart the phone
4. uninstall com.google.android.youtube (it appears after the restart in your settings - manage apps...
5. move the new youtube.apk to the system/app folder
6. install it!
maybe you have to restart..dont know!
Having problems with your youtube app.
To make the vid start i have to click on HQ as soon as the vid opens otherwise it returns 'sorry can't play...'.
Sent from my MotoMB511 using XDA App
Some more apps I'd remove:
newswidget
socialshare
statuswidget
universalinbox
weatherwidget
blur-services [very uncertain about this, is this system necessary ?]
blurcontactssync [very uncertain about this too]
do you think it's safe removing them ?
One more question: I made a backup of previously removed apps but apks only, not the odex files. If I try putting the apk back to /system/app the app works again although I read that odexed apps usually need both apk and odex to start again.
sooo lets try!
i dont have the problems with the youtube.apk like you! do you have uninstalled the com.google.android.youtube after restart?
maybe you have to set the permissions in root explorer to
"rw-r--r--"
i hope it will help!
there are a lot of lists which system apps can be deleted and whats their function!

Hello guys this post contains the apps that comes with the stock ROM (gingerbread 2.3.4) on the Samsung galxy ace.
I wrote this post because I can´t find these apk´s anywhere on the cloud, so I was forced to return back to the stock ROM to search for these apk´s that I want to use or edit.
Now for your easy way to get these apps I put them right here!!

Hi ,
On my previous samsung / htc devices i could easily remove all the bloatware while being rooted with apps like system app uninstaller from the play store but on this device (z1 compact) all bloatware removal apps fail.
I'm looking for a solution to remove this crap. Any tips are welcome !
Thanks!
I use titanium backup to freeze bloatware.

But can you delete system apps with it ?
I don't delete apps, I freeze them so I can restore in case of a problem. You could also just use root explorer and delete/rename the bloatware in /system/app.

Yes, nothings changed. Check you've rooted properly.
Coming from an HTC Device myself I am quite shocked you mention HTC having an easy way of deleting system apps with just being rooted Cause as far as I know there's this feature on HTC phones where /system is dumped to RAM hence when you delete any system apps and restart it comes back unless disabled by using a custom kernel

ES Explorer should be able to uninstall any system apps as well...
----------
this was tapatalked with Android
For me ES Explorer says that the uninstallation was not successful but still that apps that I did not want disappear. So I would say it worked quite fine. For example I uninstalled Sony Select and Chineese Keyboard. I do not experience any problems and I was also able to install a few updates from Sony without any issues.
Try using titanium backup & uninstall system apps which you don't want.. But make sure you take a backup before doing anything for your own safety..
If it doesn't uninstall directly, try converting your system app into user apps & then uninstall it..
Hit Thanks if I helped you..

Does anyone have a list of apps i can freeze/delete safely with titanum please?
Delete them manually from system...the lazy way just won't work anymore
or flash this script which removes about 140MB or pure crapware. Rest assured that the phone can function normally even w/o them
Flash it via CWM or any other recovery you like
Hi! You can remove bloatware with RootAppDelate (need root). You find it in GooglePlay Store.
