The method posted for unlocking S3 on 4.1.1 doesn't work on 4.3 OTA update. Downgrading to 4.1.1 is not possible as it will brick your phone.
Is there anyway to unlock AT&T 4.3 Galaxy S3?

Thanks. Despite my better judgment I tried Cell Unlocker and they provided a code that didn't work (on original 4.3 ROM and SlimBean ROM, provided them with the video, and screenshots, etc). I'm trying to get my $30 buck back. (stupid I know but I was desparate). Wish I had known about sammobile.
Anyway I tried the code they provided I'm worried I'd spend more money and the code won't work again and it will freeze my phone (how many tries do I have?).
Could you please tell me what is the Qualcomm NV Tools doing and how will that help unlock the phone? Also these are for GT-I9305. The *#7284# code didn't work so I'm worried the rest of the instructions won't work for now.
For anyone reading this, the cellunlcoker.net service failed to unlock my 4.3 OTA and has so far not refunded my purchase so beware.

Just something I read from one of the links here. ★ ☆ ✰Sticky Roll-Up A Guide To All Guides and Q&A's ✰ ☆ ★
There's Imei and what not that you need to backup before doing anything if you have not already.. Once you lose that its a rough go.. Sorry I'm not sure why you would have to unlock your phone. I think the root process and everything handles that. All your questions should be answered within that thread.

Thanks. I will have a look at those. My phone is already rooted. That, however, doesn't unlock the phone. The reason I want to unlock my phone is that I want to travel internationally and I want to be able to use my phone with sim cards from carriers abroad. I called AT&T and they refused to unlock it even though I have few months left on my contract.

Really? I did call them today and the support told me yeah we get this question a lot but we can't do it as long as you have a contract. I did tell her I want this for international travel. Native I should try a different number.
Is there a specific number I should call? Should I tell them anything specific? I'd appreciate it.

I don't have the number handy but call the international division 800 number that is basically all they do I was out of the country when I called and it was quick and easy took 5 minutes the number is +1-916-843-4685

Thanks I will try this. I guess I shouldn't try calling while I'm still in US.
I didn't find the reference for them being legally obligated to unlock the phones for travel. do you have a reference? I think they are obligated if you have finished your contract but not just for travel.

I just called them again (the international number). They refused to unlcok the phone until the contact is up.
I tried the code cellunlocker.net provided me again but this time after going back to the official 4.3 ROM and it worked.
So for anyone looking for a solution right now the only way is to use an unlock code from a 3rd party (I paid $30) on the OFFICIAL ROM. I used SlimBeans rom first and it did not work. After the unlock you can go to a custom rom (I went back to SlimRom and it works great).
Hope there will be a free solution soon.
They gave me the unlock code for both of my galaxy s3's upon request one on contract one off contract and the aurthorized apple to unlock my IPhone4 under contract all in the same day 3 different customer service representatives, on 3 seperate calls, as they said it was policy to only provide one code per call. This was last year in december.
you should be aware that you can "buy out" your contract it will be prorated (IRRC $10) for each month you have had your phone and paid your bill in the last 24 months. you have to speak to the customer retention/ cancelations department and voice to them your distaste with their business practices and you would like to buy out your contract to have your phone unlocked for use with other networks while traveling abrod.

Thanks. Yeah I was hoping this would work for me but the customer rep refused to do it. As I mentioned the customer rep I had talked to before in support and and also once in chat refused it. So I don't know if they've changed their practices or maybe I'm just unlucky. The account is always paid on time and I think has only 7-8 months left on contract so I don't think there is a problem on our account.
I plan to move to nexus phones and T-mobile for my next upgrade. AT&T and Samsung both lost my business.

This thread is about unlocking the phone not flashing a custom rom.
That being said it looks like you either have an incorrect version of the rom or it's happening because your recovery is outdated. Install the latest TWRP or CWM and try again. Make sure that you have a nandroid backup first.
I have no experience with i747m. Choose the correct version of the rom for your phone and try again.
I like SlimRoms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539313
make sure the ROM you choose is correct for your phone.
Or try CM easy installer:

I am thinking of picking up a DInc 2 when I upgrade from my DInc to a Rezound. The DInc 2 would be used for a home phone and international travel (our family travel is primarily international).
My question is, can I just pick up a SIM in Europe or Southeast Asia and put it in and there I go? Or do I need to use Verizon's Worldphone service? As you all may know, international cell phone rates in Europe and Asia are cheaper than here, and in some cases there are no additional "international" calling rates.
Sorry if this is a repeat, but I searched the DInc 2 threads very briefly before asking.
Thanks in advance for all help!

Once you use the unlock code, do you ever need to re-enter the code after flashing another ROM or doing any type of reset? When I asked for my code, the tech told me I would need to reenter it after a factory reset. (I am sure they were assuming I would still be using the factory ROM.)
I'm thinkin about picking up the Dinc2 and using it until I buy the Rezound. It has GSM/CDMA bands, but Im curious to know if it could work on T-Mobile so I can let my little brother use it.
I had no problem unlocking my inc2 when I visited England a couple months ago. Just phone verizon up and if the rep won't unlock it just keep calling until you get one who will. Do not listen to what they say. 99% of the time the reps know next to nothing about unlocking and will try to sell you an international plan.

unlocking the phone Sim Card is permanent , you will not be asked for it again whatever you do
You can use any Sim Card and it will work
After factory reset : if you are using the original ( stock ) firmware , then you need Verizon activation ( Very big problem if there is no Verizon coverage) . if you are rooted you will not be asked for activation
the stock software has stock recovery which will erase All internal memory parts including Verizon Programing during Factory reset
after rooting , a Custom recovery like CMW is installed , Custom recovery does not erase the Part including Verizon Programming during Factory reset , therefore no activation will be required
if you Did a factory Reset By mistake while you are Abroad (there is No Verizon Service) using Stock Rom ( i.e Not Rooted ) there are 2 Solutions :
Solutions 1 is to Call Verizon and follow instructions ?? ( i don't know if it works ,but i guess it will )
Solutions 2 is to reprogram CDMA information manually until you get Back using Software for that ( I don't know if it is Permitted by Verizon ,Check first with them ) . this method is confirmed 100% to work by some Posts ( those software are powerful and a bit complicated and could harm your Phone if you don't know what you're Doing )
hope this helps

switching back and forth between radios is fast ( even you don't feel it ) . you don't have to turn the handheld off?
it will switch automatically when it detects a Sim Card to Global Mode . and Vice verse if you removed sim Card ( CDMA phone)
according to the setting you choose the phone will react , you can check my Post regarding that here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372052

i think there is a limitation that you should be contracted with them more than 6 month , not sure ( limited knowledge about that )

No limitations. You have to agree to some waiver that says they aren't responsible for extra fees that you incur using a different Sim.
Also you have to be a good standing customer and have been with them for 6 months. I was told you also CAN'T unlock more than one phone on the same plan within 8 months (or some time frame like that)

There is a way to get your unlock code for free.. calling at&t or rogers and telling them you want your unlock code and they by law must give it to you...

I heard that for Canada that they will give you the code after you contract is up because then you have fully paid for your phone and they are obligated since it is now yours. I have not tested this just heard it from a friend who will try this method in 6 months when his contract is over. Any one try this yet?
hazard1nc and dudejb: Going by my experience and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIM_lock
USA: T-Mobile has given codes as long as you fulfilled a few conditions. AT&T now gives them on request due to a binding class action lawsuit settlement/decision, not an actual law.
Canada: There was an attempt to mandate SIM unlocking by law, but the bill never passed. Carriers might provide a code according to their policies and whims, usually for a fee that's akin to highway robbery (50-75$). None will provide a code upon purchasing a phone outright either.
joewho21: I've searched for the errors you've had and couldn't come up with much.
MMI codes are like the codes you've used to get the phone's lock status and perhaps feed it an unlock code.
Is the error popping up on its own? With a SIM in the phone? Without?
My best-guess-based suggestion: without a SIM card in the phone, flash CWM, backup your /efs partition, making multiple copies. Then delete the nv_data.bin file on your phone, and reboot it. This should (and can be confirmed with nv.log afterwards) force the phone to restore the backup nv_data file. Depending on what NewEgg did to unlock at first, your phone should now be locked to Rogers, and still have its IMEI valid. Shut down the phone, insert your AT&T SIM and turn it back on. With any luck you should get a prompt and be on your way.
Update: After way too long looking up how to use odin and cwm. (they really need a super noob sticky for that) I flashed the att rom from this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1378082 . I got my unlock screen after entering *7465625*638*# and the phone can now make calls, text, and still double checking the web connection. (might have put in the wrong mnc code) Anyways just wanted to post a thank you for those that offered there assistance.
If you're having problems with internet (and mms) it's likely that you need to enter the correct APN settings. A quick search around these forums should mention how to do it.

I just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly: if I go to AT&T or Walmart and just buy a Captivate Glide outright, no contract or anything, I can then call AT&T and say hey I need the unlock code for the Captivate Glide? Or even get it at the AT&T store if I get it there instead of Walmart?
Better to wait 3 or 9 months depending on the contract - they can't toss out the SIM unlocking code when the phone's pretty fresh. Same for any carriers around here, from what I'm told.

That's kinda what I thought. I just want to buy the phone without ever having a contract. I pretty much thought the order would be buy the phone, buy the unlock code, insert the SIM card from Net10, have Net10 service. Though I've heard conflicting reports on whether AT&T stores will sell the phone outright without me signing up for a contract. Walmart, on the other hand, doesn't care, but somehow the Glide there is more expensive by about $100 than at an AT&T store.
Yeah... It does suck but some online store like www.newegg.com do sell the unlocked Android phones, even scary expensive ones cheap - sometimes they gets put up for sales - I remember SGH-I927 was to be sold for $250 there. I'll check.
EDIT: Yup, still $250.
And I bought mine used at a pawnshop for $150 as I had to ditch the Straight Talk phone, since I have been having issues with few peoples (long story), but now the problem's solved. AT&T gave me the SIM unlock code instantly as it's maybe a few months old and was sold off as a second-hand so I'm not binded to the contract. And if you bought a phone with the full price paid off, not subsidized, they can give you the SIM code, you gotta check with some AT&T CSR who have the patience.

Thats sad! I purchased AT&T 2 Glides and one iphone4 at walmart last year. got them with a 2yr contract for just under $100 each. they wanted to sell me insurance for an extra 4.99 a month. I asked, "If I have to use the insurance, what is my deductible?" I was told that for all smart phones, I would have to pay $200 for a replacement! If I can get a "unlocked" glide online new in the box for $250 - $300 why should I pay $4.99 every month plus when something happens, have to pay another $200! I laughed, declined and said I'll take my chances! The sales clerk had the nerve to ask... "Are you sure you don't want insurance" God forbid something happen to my Glide, I still have my old moto razr as backup!

A while ago I had the same problem and I got so frustrated as the unlock code did not work and there was no prompt when i entered the string of numbers. I ended up using this solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595756
After seeing your update I tried the string of numbers again and the prompt came up for my ics-flashed i927 and it worked. My phone is now restored to the original IMEI, works and I dont have to worry about voiding my warranty with a generic IMEI anymore. I just hope the phone won't relock itself out of the blue like some users have experienced.
Thanks a lot!

The problem though is that I plan on making repeat travels to Mexico. The first time I went I got Movistar.. I'd like to be able to take the sim out of that Movistar phone and put it in the Glide for when I go back to Mexico. I think it has to be unlocked to do that.

I just need to know if there is an unlock for the new model from Metro-pc??plz any help?
Metro PCS*
And you mean carrier unlock? You can't. Metro is a CDMA carrier. You can only unlock gsm phones like at&t and T-Mobile.

Metro's galaxy s4 is supposed to be their first gsm phone since T-mobile took over. The phone is supposed to be just like our version. Not sure about unlocking, why would you need to anyway?
any suggestions??

What are you returning for a refund? I don't think you can get a refund for the code. For the phone, why would you return it just because you can't unlock it?

MetroPCS's policy is that you can unlock the phone after using it with MetroPCS for three months -- they'll actually do it for you.
However, you can unlock it before that if you find the correct instructions. And, yes, it will work with any GSM network.
My question is this: Are there any differences between the M919 and M919N that would prevent the procedure for unlocking a T-Mobile M919 from working with the M919N?

I have tried the procedures and get to persosha256 area of the debugging menu and it just brings me back to the main menu so that does not work. the weird thing is is that when I put a t-mobile sim in the phone, or any SIM for that matter, it does not read that there is a SIM card at all. I think metro programs the phone with the SIM number and service mode when they activate service. It's not that it is locked, but rather that it won't even register a SIM card other than metropcs.

Unbelievable!
I've been on the phone with MetroPCS ever since I read your response. So far, I'm getting two conflicting stories. Salespeople at stores are saying that you get an unlocking code after three months of owning the S4. The official customer service line rep has said that the issue of not being able to use the phones with other carriers is pissing off customers and the issue will be resolved very soon. I have yet to speak with a few other CS people onsite and possibly a supervisor to get a less sketchy response.
At this point, it sounds as though either salespeople are lying or official customer service doesn't know what it's talking about.
I've spoken to three salespeople at different locations -- two in different stores in NYC, one in White Plains -- and all repeat the same unlocking in three months speech that got me to buy the phone in the first place.
It sounds as though the issue will likely be resolved, but what I'd like to know is why this particular phone is posing problems in the first place when no other GSM carrier has had this issue.
Thanks for making me aware of this, sgtmedeiros.
MetroPCS seems profoundly disorganized. Half the people in customer service look at the wrong (non-GSM) map when you ask about S4 coverage and deny you can get reception in places where I've already gotten it.
---------- Post added at 04:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:30 PM ----------
Finally got through to a supervisor in corporate and she said your SIM should be recognized; that she has been getting reports the phone's tested and works with other GSM carriers. She wants me to call her back early next week and claims she'll have a definitive answer to my questions and a response to your situation.
However, you're the one who's having the issue. Have you tried contacting them as well?

I have talked to a couple of representatives here and the issue seems to be with imei pairing. when activated, the device is programmed to only pick up a certain sim card. If the sim card inserted into the device is not that card, then the phone will not even recognize that there is a sim card at all. ridiculous!

I read the listing of the "fastgsm" guy very carefully. He specifically says that he does not unlock the m919n for USA!.. Be careful.
...
I was able to buy a the unlock from eBay: search for "M919N Unlock"
Some really helpful guy send me 2 codes in the email - 12 hours after payment.
I initially got 2 codes from him:
1ST CODE: SERVICE PROVIDER unlock PIN: XXXXXXXX (8 numeric digits); and
2ND CODE: SIM network unlock PIN: XXXXXXXX (8 numeric digits).
He said that the phone will first prompt for the 1st code and then prompt for the 2nd code.
Here's what happened:
Inserted a non Metro PCS micro SIM.
I plugged in the 1st code... and the same screen came back. tried the 1st code again on the same screen... the same screen came back again... tried the 2nd code on the same input box ... phone read "Wrong Code Entered 3 times, you must reboot"
F***ED... I thought... The phone was still working on Metro PCS.
Wrote back to the guy and asked him what's up -- sent him my other phone number. Received a call back, almost instantly.
He said (Korean accent) that he did not realize that the phone needed 3 codes (WTF?). He gave me another code that I wrote down on a piece of paper. Asked him to hang with me while I do this....
Inserted non Metro PCS micro SIM again.. and booted.
Phone prompted for Service Provider PIN: <<entered the new 8 digit PIN>> <enter>
Phone prompted for SIM network unlock PIN: <<entered the 2nd CODE from email>>
clicked <enter>
Voila... Phone unlocked!
.. was kinda scared there for a moment! ... all good now!

it was $44.95.. kinda pricey... but hey... if the phone's unlocked!

I was thinking...since the metropcs variant uses the tmobile network I wonder if an unlock code from an M919 will work to unlock it.
Has anyone tried this method. I have confirmed that the SIM card in the metropcs is infact a tmobile SIM.
I am just thinking out loud. I guess I could try it but I dont know of a reputable unlock site I could try it with who will refund me if it doesnt work.

My story is unique. For another reason I flashed my MetroPCS SGH-M919N with T-Mobile firmware as a result I got a SGH-M919 with UVUAMDL firmware, took a chance and went to fastgsm, paid unlock as T-Mobile SGH-M919, download app and unlocked my phone. A week later flash metro pcs firmware back to SGH-M919M UVUAMF2 and my phone still unlocked, I can put any SIM from anywhere on it working flawlessly
Will you be able to unlock the LG G3 in the near future?
Like through websites which gives you codes to unlock it for a fee?
My situation:
Currently in the USA but will go to Asia to continue studying. (Will get the LG G3 in less than a week from T-Mobile raffle)
how in the world would anyone be able to answer that question, since the phone hasn't even been released yet?????
I said in the near future.
I bet we have experienced unlockers here so I ask for their answers if it is possible or not.

why not sell the phone and buy a phone in the asian country you'll be going to, you'll be able to get LTE there since you might not have the correct LTE bands for that country
If you snoop around the site, for info on bringing non-Tmobile phones in. It has rules for unlocking our phone. But they include "fully paid off phone" and minimum service and account time before they will let us.
If you talk to a customer service rep and explain your situation they might let you unlock sooner.

I used the unlock code that i received from the link in your signature..
when I put in the code, it said network unlocked.. BUT somehow it didnt work. cant make calls or anything. As if it was still locked.
So i went back into the screen where you put the unlock code, and now there is NO prompt for it.. it simply says you cant personalize this phone.
I only attempted the code once..
any advice?

Although i am not from the USA, i would assume metroPCS dont use gsm sim card. And that ur phone probably doesnt have that frequency band that can work with metroPCS
So I have read alot about how to downgrade from 5.0.X to lower versions of android to4.4.2 and 4.4.4 just isnt possible. Well, I made it happen tonight. It took 3 days to figure it out and I will gladly share how i accomplished this, and upload all the files. I didnt mess with the boot loader because frankly, I dont know how. Everything was done through ODIN as well.
But I am in need of help/ questions answered first.
My phone is 100% paid off, and I am 100% paid in full with sprint so it was my understanding as of FEB of this year upon request they HAD to SIM unlock my phone per my request... So here are my questions
1 - If i flash AT&T roms, or any other carrier ROM over to my sprint note 4, will my phone still function properly? And if it will, does that give me a better shot at getting the phone away from INVALID SIM error and putting in my MSL code.
2- is it really NOT possible to domestic unlock a phone from sprint with android L? if not, why would sprint tell me they could domestic unlock my phone?
3- I have been given my MSL, been told by sprint my phone is unlocked, and cannot get a prompt to enter the MSL so I can keep my note4 when i move to a new carrier. All I keep seeing when i put the SIM card into my note 4 is "INVALID SIM" , I have seen the SSU unlock APK and tried to use it but the lowest version of android i can find is 4.4.4 for the note 4, and SSU states it only works on 4.4.2 and lower.
Can anyone help me get this stupid thing domestic unlocked?
OK here is the issue if I understand correctly.
You want to unlock your phone Sprint has provided you the unlock code.....
Since the Phone was shipped with 4.42 or 4.44 depending when you go it ........ that means you will need to be in that Android version for it to work not running lollipop(5.x)..... Then :
Switch off your Galaxy Note 4.
Take out its battery.
Pull the Sprint SIM card out of the slot.
Insert a new SIM from a different wireless carrier in the SIM slot.
Place the battery back in the mobile.
Power on the phone.
When prompted, type the unlock code that you received from Sprint.
It will complete and you are done

Sprint's policy for DSU (Domestic SIM unlock) is phones *launched* after Feb 2015 will be eligible. Unfortunately, as the Note 4 launched last year, it is not eligible for DSU. The MSL code allows you to edit the APNs to go to another CDMA carrier., but will not unlock the SIM slot for domestic use.
Sorry.
Sprint will unlock a device from Sprint's network under the following circumstances:
Any associated Service Agreement, Installment Billing Agreement, or Lease Agreement has been fulfilled including payment in full of any applicable early termination fees or end-of-lease purchase options
The associated account is in good standing
The device has not been reported as lost or stolen, associated with fraudulent activity, or otherwise flagged as ineligible to be unlocked
Generally, if you have a device that was launched prior to February 2015 and it is capable of being unlocked, Sprint will provide a bill notification and/or text message when you are eligible to have your device unlocked. The bill notification will direct you to Sprint Customer Care who can assist in efforts to unlock your device.
For domestic SIM unlockable ("DSU") devices launched after February 2015, Sprint will automatically unlock the device when it becomes eligible.
For inactive devices, customers must contact Sprint Customer Care to request that their DSU-capable device be unlocked and may have to take steps to perform an over-the-air update to ensure the unlock programming has been relayed to the device.
The note 4 is capable of being unlocked. Sprints policy is they AUTOMATICALLY unlock them if it was launched after FEB 2015.
Now, can you tell us how to Odin backwards from OE1?
thanks
Can't I'd back wait til oe3 is out I made the mistake and paid the price

Sorry to burst your bubble but you're wrong. Note 4 is clearly on their list of phones they will give you the MSL or the ISU (International SIM unlock), but not DSU. Read for yourself: http://www.sprint.com/legal/unlocking_policy.html
Moving on in 3 - 2 - 1.....
Just swap for tmobile or Verizon note 4 ..post an ad. Meet at the store. Verizon is unlocked out of box. It will work on all but sprint. Tmobile will work and I believe Att with Sim unlock but don't quote me. Just an idea.
