I've never ever thought this could or would happen ... and im very aware of efs baxkup procedure i just didnt do it to this phone I have flashed 100times nevr lost my imei info.
Least I think that's what happened I am on metro t999n s3
I tried to flash the tmo 4.3 leak version knox free by doc holiday77 and when it booted had no signal said insert sim. So I nandroid back to stock SIM STILL NOT DETECTED.
What happened what can I do.
Is there a fix
I think that 4.3 rom is the cause of this

Also sound dissapeard
Could this have to do with flashing the 4.3 mj4 modem when I flashed the leak it said to flash it in the rom install log.
Shouldn't a nandroid restore even restore nvdata efs all that ?
I've restored backup 3 times before from 4.3 to 4.1.2 and never had this issue until this last time I tried to flash 4.3 deodoxed and then restore to 4.1.2 sound gone
Data gone signal gone No Sim inserted Error

Being aware of EFS backup routines and not employing at least one of the options is negligent. terminal > su > reboot nvbackup. How hard is that?
Now that you are no longer on the leak, you should reflash the old modem (LJC/MD5/whatever you were using).

Look thanks man, was neglect on my part its fixed now. .. reason I thought was worse cause I thought restoring my backup also would restore the shipped modem.. I didn't realize you have to reflash the firmwarefirmware modem..
Thanks. . I accept the fault

Trying to figure out how to go from jb 4.1.1 jro03 to ics fi27. it's not the newest jb leak that just came out. the one from around a month or 2 ago. says my baseband version is ff18. if that means anything.
i'm having data connections in my home town and have to call sprint. when they tell me to dial ##*****# it wont do nothing. when i try to do system updates it calls sprint customer service and nothing happens. so i need to put it back to ics so i can get my data issue fixed. just wanna have the latest version of ics rooted. dont care of factory reset. i have everything backed up
they will wanna disconnect me from the network to fix the issue. they just did it to my wifes e4gt and it worked. i am in north dallas and they are upgrading the towers (data upgrades). i haven't had decent connection since friday when they started.
thanks for any help in advance.

let me get this right before i start.
choose the fi27 rooted option, rom no data, rooted? can i preserve my data going from jb to ics? sorry still a newbie at this.
No if you're downgrading from jb to ics you need to wipe user data. Oh and baseband is your modem btw so you're running ff18 modem it has no connection to what rom you run
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
It is best to wipe data when downgrading. You can however use titanium backup to make a backup of your user apps, then after wiping and installing FI27 you can then restore your apps and data. I've had no issues doing that. It just doesn't work if you try to restore a JB specific app.

I have a tmobile black s3 which is in 100% condition with excepetion to it gets hot for some reason upon to much use. I also have a white att s3 which has a cracked screen. I need at&t so im wondering, is it possible to swap the inside of the white and put in the black? Im hoping someone knows so I can find someone to do it.
My guess would be yes you could do that. For the heat problem though, if you are using stock build UVDMD5, either try Odin flashing the LJC firmware, or.Just flash the LJC modem.

WELL WHEN IT WAS STOCK IT GOT HOT. NOW IM ON WICKED V10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804260 AND IT STILL GETS HOT..I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT LJC OR UVDMD5 IS.
It's the build number. Refers to the firmware. Check what baseband it says you're on. If it's the UVDMD5 one, go to the modem thread and flash a different one and see if it helps

Ok, I'd suggest making a nandroid then factory reset and test. If it stops heating up.then there may be some old or corrupted data causing a process to hang. If it still happens you can restore the nandroid and try a different kernel. Otherwise see if there are any other reports of the same thing in the Rom thread.

You'll still be on your custom Rom, but it'll wipe everything so it'll be like you freshly installed it.

ok, ill try that...even tho i reflashed but maybe..u never know?
Flashing without wiping can help, but not usually. It's the data separate from the Rom that usually causes problems.

Please don't tear me apart if this is the wrong thread...
So I'm currently running CM 10.0 and I'm trying to upgrade (through CWM) to 10.1.2 stable, but I am running into a status 7 error. I have done the following (In no particular order)
-made backup and wiped phone (including cache and dalvik cache)
-flashed the latest bootloader
-double checked MD5 sum and it was a match
-upgraded to most recent CWM
-tried fixing the assertions (as highonandroid suggests)
So what am I doing wrong?

Do a search for status 7
Because you've updated your cwm than your bootloader is out of date.

What do you mean do a search for status 7? I've searched all I can, those were all the solutions I came up with. First I updated CWM, then I fixed the assertions, then I redownloaded it for a clean start and then flashed the latest bootloader, and none of that worked.

Well this is the issue. Status 7 is
Out of date recovery
Out of date bootloader
So you have no other options really...
So you can see my concern and attempt at grasping at straws to help.

Well my baseband changed when I flashed it (brace yourself for a potentially dumb question(s) ) so did I flash a bootloader or a modem? Also what's the difference?

You can have an old bootloader and have a newer modem.
Modem is your current baseband.
Here's an example. My bootloader is LK4 which is good for flashing and my modem (baseband) is MF1
Go in terminal emulator and type
su
getprop ro.bootloader
It'll tell you your bootloader if it's different than your baseband

And now is where I feel like an idiot...
The bootloader does not match my baseband, so since I am clearly incapable of flashing a new bootloader, can you provide me with a link that would help? Preferably one that could work with mobile Odin since access to a computer is limited for me right now

Ding ding ding we finally have a winner.
Chainfire doesn't recommend flashing a bootloader with mobile odin.
This thread has a recovery flashable bootloader you can use

sounds like a good idea.. i'll be rooting my phone tomorrow.. i'm thinking about using the radio modem from ICS version 4.0.4 released in October. how can i do that?
Once rooted, just flash any of the modems available for your model in cwm or twrp recovery.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I know this isn't directly related to solving the problem, but before installing a different modem make sure it is a compatible modem with your carrier and phone model. Also, be sure to back up your efs because I did this before and my efs files got corrupted and I lost signal from my phone.
Just came back to twiz after using CM11 for a couple weeks. Odin to 4.1.2 then flashed 4.3 with twrp recovery. Right now I have an IMEI number, but no internet access, no bluetooth mac address and obviously no ip address. Wifi works perfectly, tried removing sim and restarting and all that. Wondering what I can do to fix this? Odin again? Also when I try to access mobile networks under connections, it shows a error "insert sim card to access netowork services"
Btw I didn't restore imei, it was already got. Also didn't want to make new post but trying to edit in stop was causing fc

Your APNs could be faulty. Better Do Factory Reset in Recovery then wipe Dalvik + Cache then re-flash your CM again. First thing to do after that is check your Access Point Names in Settings >Advanced > Access Point Name
Did you flash the 4.3 modem?
