Received the rooCase origami slimshell case today and figured I'd share pictures
Overall the case is sturdy. Does have the autowake function. I like how it looks on the tablet.
The magnets keep the case closed and there are different viewing angles. It doesn't add bulk to the tablet
but the case is a lot heavier than I expected.

Couple of questions for ya because I'm considering getting this.
Do the magnets interfere with the digitizer function at all?
I saw a nexus 7 video for this case where folding the cover back triggered the auto off function through the magnet? Can you fold the cover back all the way safely without any issues?
What's the texture like - similar to the iPad smart covers?
I want to pull the trigger on this but its so effin expensive in Canada, nearly 20 bucks more with shipping.
Any concerns about the folding mechanism wearing down or feeling loose over time?

I've only had it on the unit for a few hours but I've noticed no differences in the ability to write. It seems like the digitilzer is holding up just fine. It also folds back all the way so the magnets do end up behind the case, but it's really thick on the backside so it doesn't turn off. I've never felt the ipad cases actually but its a smooth plasticy fake leather sort of feeling (I guess the PU shell). The back is sturdy. (Like I said - because of that it's a bit heavier than I expected) The inside is a soft material that won't scratch the screen.
I'd say go for it. I'm curious how this case would hold up if I dropped the tablet but I don't really want to try that to find out..

From just using it today there are some crease/wear marks where the folds are, but I think that will just make folding easier. The other parts of the case are pretty thick and solid feeling. I don't see those breaking down. I'm not sure about it feeling loose. I wish the case came up a bit and wrapped around the front of the unit, I'd then feel like it was more secure. It's not 'easy' to take the tablet out of the case but it does pop out easily when you want it to.
@anotherday,
thanks for sharing the pictures of the case! very helpful post
I have a question, does the back feel like hard plastic? or rubbery (grippy) feel?
I'm tempted, just waiting for it to get cheaper, it's only $10 for the ipad air

It feels like a smooth hard plastic to me. There isn't much grip to it since there is no added texture.
Great find! I've been looking for a case that can stand portrait and landscape. Does it seem stable in both orientations? Stable enough to tap while reading or browsing? If so this may be the next addition to the family.

Definitely stable in landscape mode. Portrait was a little trickier for me. It was a little confusing to find the correct way to get it to stand in portrait, but once I did I could tap it and type with no problems. However landscape I could move/drag the tablet around on the desk and it would hold its position. Portrait I had to re-balance it every time I moved it around.
I just got this case and I like it a lot
It is much heavier than the Samsung bookcase though
The ability to stand in portrait of why I bought it
Just wondering though, will the magnets interfere with or save the digitizer?

Was watching YouTube videos today when I noticed that this case interferes with the digitizer in some situation. Causes the screen to flicker in certain uses and configurations. I'll be going back to the Samsung bookcase, although I will certainly miss the very useful portrait stand.

Is that because the magnets touch the back?
Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk 4
I've noticed the same problem. The magnets touch the back sometimes and that messed with the screen. Its clearly because the magnets are too strong. The Samsung bookcase does not do this. I'll be returning my case and going back to the bookcase.

I second the body glove one from the tmo store. I got mine in Dec and I'm surprised the kickstand hasn't broken yet. I love the it folds flat. My only complaint is that the color rubs off after a while.

Same here. i keep going back to my black body glove, even though it provides hardly any protection for my phone.
I had one for my Vibrant a year ago, which i dropped on carpet, the case popped off and SOMEHOW scratched the screen of my phone.
But, i sure like how it feels on the phone though.

My apologies.
I did get the case today. It's a little thicker than I was expecting but it's probably the same thickness as most dual protection cases. The inner layer is rubber and the outer layer is plastic. Its a little whiter than my phone is. The buttons are really easy to press. It's white so I'm expecting it to get dirty lol. There are different color combinations from the same seller on ebay. So if you have black or white there are some options for you. I'm loving the quality of the case. The fitment is great compared to another case I had.
I am no way associated with the seller.
I have attached some pictures. I got some ink stains on it already. I guess my hands were dirty.
Got the Seidio from Amazon with the holster for the same pricce as just the case on Seidio.com.

I have this case and it is bulky but that's to be be expected. The kickstand already has signs of cracking. I bought this case cuz at work, I keep my phone in my work shirt pocket and every time i go to lean down (with my old slick case) the phone fell out. This case stopped that but now is a PITA to pull outta my pocket sometimes. And if i happen to have any additional items in my pocket, the case pulls that out too when removed. It's a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' kinda situation. It does get the job done and I at least feel comfortable if my phone took a leap outta my pocket or off the fridge...

Seidio Active case...
Hey just wanted to give my input...
I have the Seidio Active case and the kickstand does NOT work in portrait mode, only landscape. BUT it does offer 2 angles in landscape. Aside from that I gotta say this is the 2nd Seidio Active case I've had, the other was for my HTC Sensation 4G, and this is the best case I've ever used for any phone. I'll be buying another one for whatever my next phone after the SGS2 ends up being.

I'm leaning hard on the Seidio case. I'm surprised it's not Portrait supported though, cause it kind of looked like it could be in a pic I saw using the belt clip I believe?
What's the difference in the 2 angles you mentioned?
Thanks in advance.
Hmmm... I don't know anything about the belt clip you mentioned. But the 2 landscape angles i mentioned turned out to be 3 after i played with it some more, you just have to flip the phone 180 to get the third angle. The lowest is around 20 degrees, then there's slightly more than 45 degrees maybe 50, and finally it stands almost completely upright, I'd guess around 85 degrees.

UPDATE: PICTURE ADDED!
There are a total of 6 magnets on the case (as you can see in pic 1 and 2). most of you might have concerns of how the magnet will affect the tablet. i can tell you from my experience that IT DOES NOT AFFECT MY S PEN capabilities. They use the 6 magnets so that when folding the cover, it will stay together. And because of the magnet when its folded its VERY strong, not flimsy.
S Pen is also accessible shown in pic 7
Charger is accessible shown in pic 8.
Top isnt cover well, the volume and power button visible as you can see in pic 9
Overall the case is very thin, about 1.3 cm?? But it does feel like it added some weight onto the tablet.
ALSO: this case comes with a screen protector (the one that i have on, i did screw up a few times)
Lemme know if you have any questions

Well they can't hurt the memory unlike if you have a hard drive in there, but my concern is that I bought a poetic case which has two magnets on each corner of the case near the speakers. At least they aren't anywhere close to the pen.

I have one. I think it's great, especially at that price. There's a little give in it when typing with it propped up in landscape (at a small angle, with the tablet "upside down") but it's very stable otherwise. Only other problem is that it doesn't close if anything's plugged in to the headphone jack.
My first thought was why did they not cover fully the back of the note, it looks like they have little wings sticking out the back on the sides. If they made a cover with the back completely covered with the same material I would definitely buy one.

This is the case I have:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088I9AX4/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00
and I enjoy it. It covers the tablet nicely, easy access to the pen, in landscape on a table, the top is elevated about half and inch or so to give a nice little angle on the device. Also it can easily be set to sit up with 3 different angles in the landscape mode. Slim and sturdy construction as well with decent padding.

How do you feel about the case after having it for a few days? And how is the fit? Does the Note snap in tightly? I have a $7 poetic trifold, but don't like that the bezel is covered. I really like the looks of this case, but would like to hear a bit more about it.

I actually like it ALOT. when its in trifold mode, especially laying down for typing its very sturdy, it DOESNT wiggle or move at all.
and YES its a good fit for the tablet, as long as you dun hold it by the cover and wiggle it vigorously. As you know there are only 3 corners supporting the tablet, since we need the opening for s pen, but from my experience if you simply push the s pen corner (the corner that isnt cover) it can easily pop up.
lemme know if you have any other questions.
ALSO the magnets DOES NOT affect the screen for me.

Looks interesting.. I think my choice is down to this case or this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Ultra-S...es_Covers_Keyboard_Folios&hash=item3ccaa0c25f
This is a review of Yoobao Note 2 TPU Case Stand: http://www.kevikev.com/Yoobao-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-II-2-N7100-360-TPU-Case-Stand-YB360TPUNOTE2.htm
Along with Yoobao Thunder external battery, I also received this very unique Yoobao case. I think it will be hard to amuse anybody with yet another N2 case since we got every variation covered already. This one is different from everything I have seen. When looking into a slim case category, usually the choice is either TPU case or a slim plastic shell/case. This one combines both into one by offering a hard plastic back fused with a TPU border/sides. The hard plastic back is made out of thick transparent material with a unique frosted matte finish. It also feels scratch resistant, I tried to scratch it with my nail - no marks at all. The TPU sides have a very nice grip around the phone with hardly any pulling at all. It also gives you a good grip to hold on to with N2 in your hand. Power and volume buttons are covered and very responsive and easy to push. All the openings are perfectly aligned. The TPU bumper wraps around the phone with an acceptable lip so there is no problem putting the phone down on it's screen. I had clearance even with my tempered glass screen protector.
And speaking of screen protector, Yoobao also included one with this case. I didn't install it, but it felt premium quality, not a typical flimsy stuff you get from ebay. It also comes with a very generous micro-fiber piece of cloth. Pretty much this is a very nice looking slim TPU/PC hybrid case that will give you a good protection for everyday basic use and also will showcase your Note 2 very nicely since the back is semi-transparent. If that's not enough, Yoobao kicked it up another notch by including a very unique rotating kickstand. The kickstand itself is flush mounted with a back of the case, so placing the case down will not make it wobble. Also, the mechanism looks more durable than average plastic kickstands. What makes it especially unique is the way how it rotates 360 degrees by allowing to place your N2 in both portrait and landscape modes. Also, once extended you can hold on to this kickstand like a trigger for an easier grip of the phone, for example when you are in bed reading or watching the movie. I do have to mention that I had no issue opening kickstand on black case, while the aqua was a little hard to open which actually be fixed by filing the sides of the stand. I think its a minor thing.
I actually like this case very much because it offers something very unique to make your phone stand out from other slim TPU or plastic cases. With addition of an integrated kickstand and a bonus screen protector for under $14 I think its a great value. It comes in two colors, black and aqua. I didn't even expect that I will like aqua color thinking its girly, but it actually looks really cool with white Note 2. Don't forget, you can still use kk001 coupon to get 10% of with $50 purchase from www.kevikev.com, and I think if you order 2 items from that store you get a free shipping. Just contact them for more details, or I will find out and update it later. Just keep in mind www.kevikev.com is the only US licensed/authorized Yoobao dealer who also honors their warranty.

True, this is not a cradle to put the phone in a complete upright position. In the picture I took, you have a little more room for adjustment to bring the angle up, but not by too much. To be honest, I can't even of why would anybody need to use their phone in portrait mode. Most of the people need it in landscape to watch the movie anyway.

To be honest, I can't even of why would anybody need to use their phone in portrait mode. Most of the people need it in landscape to watch the movie anyway.

Portrait would work better for reading text, such as a recipe you are cooking from, or an ereader program with automated page turns. A stand is nice when you are doing something that makes your hands dirty.
I use portrait a lot for this forum and for my yahoo messenger app.
On the messenger app the stupid on screen keyboard covers the whole conversation if it's in landscape.
I'm usually using it like this if I'm in the bathroom getting ready to go somewhere or in the kitchen making dinner or something like that.

So can you take another pic with it in its full upright position and add it to the op? I would consider this case if it did both positions well.

One question, does the back of the kickstand come directly in contact with the battery cover?
I will take more pictures and double check if there is a contact with a battery door once I get home!
Looks good, but portrait is a joke. I only have one case that does portrait well in a mybat case. Problem with that is makes an already big phone even bigger. Almost as big as the Otterbox Defender. Works well though.
Looking for a slim line case that does both portrait and landscape well. This would do it, if portrait was better.
Appreciate your due diligence though in all these accessories and reviews. Well done yet again!

To confirm, the kickstand doesn't touch the battery cover. And unfortunately 45deg angle is the best I can do with portrait kickstand position. If the kickstand would have been longer and the spinning disc closer to the middle of the case, it would have been a different story. So if you need to have it more upright - that kickstand wouldn't work. The more I look at it, the more it feels like Samsung Cover+ case with landscape kickstand, and for half the price.
Do you know where we can get these in the UK? Amazon only has one without the kickstand.

So I needed a case for my tablet as I was going out on a trip. Amazon didnt have the case I wanted and I was left with no choice but to head to the nearest Best Buy and grab whatever they have. I saw the official Samsung case but at $79.99 its way over priced in my opinion.
I was actually looking for something cheap but this was the only one they had in stock. It costs $49.99 (still a bit expensive for me) but got a quality case that matches the looks of my white tablet.
Its a black leather case that doesnt feel cheap. I find that it gives a more professional look than other cases found in Amazon.

It doesnt have a magnetic cover, so it uses an elastic strap to hold the cover when closed. I thought that this will be annoying at first, but found that it actually works well.
Also take note of the exact cut hole for the camera and flash, and for the spen.
There is soft suede like material inside to protect the screen. It also has 2 slots for business cards or small notes. You can also see a cut out for the charger so you can charge the tablet when the cover is closed.
The tablet is held securely by soft suede grips on all 4 corners. They are an exact fit and does not let the tablet wiggle or move around.
The case also acts as a stand and you can vary the viewing angle to your preference. Notice that the speakers, headphone jack and microsd card slot are free from obstructions.
The power and volume buttons as well as the IR blaster are unobstructed.
There's even a pen holder located on the top if you have an extra stylus.
Lastly, the case can be used as an inverted stand to allow the use of the microUSB port for charging or usb otg.
In summary, it is a decent case that offers good protection without giving a cheap feel. I still find it a bit expensive but it gives of a professional look that I dont mind bringing it everywhere with me especially at work.

Does it obstruct the charging port? I'd like to be able to charge it while using it as a stand.

Yes it will get obstructed if being used as a stand in landscape mode. I find that this is a design flaw with Samsung as the charging port will be blocked no matter what case you are using. I wish they put the charging port to the side. This also makes it difficult for me to attach a USB otg cable for use with my ps3 controller when playing games as most games are in landscape mode.
Edit: op updated. The case can be used as an inverted stand

This looks similar to Belkin case for original 10.1, I had it for over a year, great case.
For charging turn tablet 180 degrees, upside down, in the case, and you can change whole standing.

You are correct. There is a way for the case to act as an inverted stand. Really wish the box came with drawings lol. Will add this to my op.

It absolutely adds substantial heft and thickness.
It is a nice case and it looks pretty good, but the tradeoff is not worth it. It makes the using the tablet a chore...at least it did for me.
I bit the bullet and got the Samsung book cover...IMO it looks better and it add very little heft. Not a perfect case, but I would definitely say it is worth $30 more than the Belkin.

It adds a a little bit of thickness but it doesnt get in the way of useability and portability. I actually now bring my tablet almost everywhere I go.

Yes the Samsung book cover is nice although its out of my budget range. And Best Buy didnt have the white one so I didnt feel like spending $80 on a case that doest match the colour of my tablet. If they had one in white then I might have walked away with that case.

Good point. After using the Samsung case for the past few days, I'm having my doubts about whether this is going to be a case I can stick with.
Just got this case last night and wanted to share some thoughts. Firstly this case feels premium as you would expect, good quality materials. It covers the front and back but not the edges so for those perfectionists it might not be suitable.
or those that don't know the case just sticks to the tab using magnets, there is no clipping it in, so far I have not had any problems with this but it offers one HUGE advantage in my opinion that I have never had before. When I am lying down and want to hold the tab to read or watch something, pulling the case off to hold the tab and reduce weight is very easy, this is a fantastic design feature (if intentional) as almost all cases add significant weight when holding in your hands vs. standing on a table. To pop the case back on is as easy as removing it.
The two viewing angles it provides are so far fine for me, no isuses. The only improvement I would hope for is the ability to stand the tab vertically but not many cases do this. In all, very pleased with this case.

A link to the site you bought this from or a title of the Book case would be appreciated. Thanks
Beware your pen won't write on some parts of screen with Samsung magnet book cover case.
Is there a case that has a pen holder that does not have magnets and not weigh a ton?

Ive read mixed comments on this phenomenon in relation to the samsung book cover...is the effect temporary or permanent? Is it only when you fold the front cover to the back of the tablet?
Im ordering a tab s3 within the next week or so, (Its essential for a creative project im working on, so no other tablet will suffice, and the galaxy book or tab pro s is prohibitively expensive for a simple experiment, but im specifically using it for art, so the interference is unacceptable)..would i be better off getting a protective case and a screen protector?

Wow, that is wretched.... for being such an innovative corporation, they sure borked this one huh?
Thanks for the quick response... yeah i think im gonna go with a supcase
SUPCASE Galaxy Tab S3 9.7" Case Unicorn Beetle Pro Series Full-Body Rugged with Built-In Screen Protector, Black (SUP-Galaxy-TabS3-9.7-UBPro-Black/Black)

Seems like a much better choice.
I just tested with Samsung keyboard case and the pen works with no problem on it, may be newer versions of Samsung book cover solved the issue.
I don't have any of these issues and I have a magnetic case that looks like an old composition notebook. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0725CL4QV/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is not related to the case. I have the keyboard case and got the same issue (see video) very soon after I purchased the tablet. Returned it to samsung and they just replaced the screen. No problems since then and I'm still using the keyboard case.

Exactly! It is not related to the case. It seems to me more related to problematic digitizers, as in my case the problem appeared about a month since I bought the tablet and after the repair it didn't happen again although I'm still using the cover.

Yes it started suddenly. Actually one day it just didn't work (I'm using s-pen and notes at least 3-4 times per week) and during the first month since I received it.
wow, yeah not auto-wake cover related.
Okay, so to be clear: the samsung book cover case for tHe tab s3 does not interfere with the s-pen digitizer?
Yeah I am also interested on that. I'm about to buy the S3 and want to be sure about it.
Anybody? Does the oem book cover magnets interfere with the s-pen digitizer in ANY way?
[Edit: im reading over this convo and it seems pretty clear, the supcase though is awfully bulky...im not sure how mich id use the keyboard case, id rather get oem especially with all the poor reviewx for 3rd party cases.../edit]
I was so paranoid about all the conflicting reports about magnets, that I was determined to use only a case with no magnets of any kind, anywhere. I found one. See the recent thread about "ZERO-magnet" cases.
