Here's a little something interesting for you guys. I'm looking for a very specific type of holster and I am in need of your mass searching skills to come up with one that meets my requirements. The first person to find one recieves $5. However, it must match EVERY requirement that I will list below. If even one thing is off it does not count but I would like to see it anyways. If nothing is found that meets every requirement, I will award the $5 to the best one I see fit here.
Here are the list of requirements:
All leather (preferably genuine but will accept cheap if it's the only option out there)
Must be a minimum of a horizontal-only holster *No Vertical-only*
(Even better if it has a swivel belt clip but it has to be able to fit horzontally on the belt)
Must have a cut out for BOTH the headphone jack AND the micro-USB port *No Exceptions*
Must fit extended battery with extended back cover
Preferably black leather but may consider other colors
Phone must not be attached to the holster
(Must be meant to easily slide in and out and not made to use in the holster)
Phone must be held in from all sides (no unprotected openings on one side)
If you can find this match I think you well deserve the $5. Best of luck to everyone. Find me something nice.
I can't say for sure about extended... but extended isn't that much bigger, and considering leather stretches more than plastic... it would probably fit

I actually saw this just before and there's a few things I can't tell about this case. Is the phone attached to the case to use it (or is it meant to slide out easily)? Does the headphone cable slide out with the phone or do I have to disconnect it everytime I slide the phone out and then reconnect it again while it's in my hand?
The one almost appears to be more of a case with a belt clip rather than a slideable holster. I will consider it but let's see what others can find. Oh and direct links to cases only, no search result lists.

Was that not a direct link? And then a link to the variety of colors offered?
Search result link can be google.com --> leather holster for galaxy nexus

4th pic shows the accessible earphone and ability to remove from pouch without disconnecting earphone... as for charging, cut out a small slot?
I've looked at more holsters than I ever thought I would.. it seems in all of them you would have to cut some sort of slot to get all your features.

First one was direct. Second one wasn't really (there's a bunch of cases on there not just that same case in other colors).
Something like this is almost perfect: Link
I just wish the front didn't flip out and it didn't have that clear screen protector built-in.

I actually also saw this one. This is also almost perfect I just wish it had the charging slot already there (I don't want to do any modifications, hence why this is not such an easy find).
Something like the mix of this one (no flip front) and the one in my previous post (cut outs for headphones and charger + rotating belt clip) would pretty much be exactly what I need.

As for this... you can (ghetto, I know) glue the flip out part to the leather border, then cut the straps on the right side (not the securing magnetic strap but the ones connecting the frame to the back) this way you have a pocket and can remove the phone from the side.
Not ideal - but yep, definitely can't find the ideal one
Edit for reply about no mods: Sorry buddy, did my best.. hopefully someone else can weigh in

No problem. Thanks for helping either way. I will consider these since this is actually the best I could find as well but let's see if anyone else can dig up something interesting. Thanks again for your effort.

i like noreve cases, been using them since i had a nokia 6630, and have one on order for the galaxy nexus as well
i wouldnt recommend going with the top 2 class of leathers, since they do take some effort to maintain them, although they do look nice

Hmm, very interesting case but boy what a price. I can't tell if this is a case or a holster though. It looks like it's just a case with a belt clip. Also although they mention access to the charging port but I don't happen to see that on those photos. Unfortanatly there are quite a number of things limiting this for me but thank you for showing this anyways. I appreciate your effort.

Have you tried easecase in ebay, have a few different styles to choose from, and can customize style, color, clip type etc
Good quality, I have used them on my last 3 phones

Think they are closed for chinese new year at the moment, but check them out, might be what your looking for
Hope that helps

I'm not after your reward, so you can keep it, i'm only here to help in all ways.
I will be going to shenzhen china in about a weeks time, they have plenty of these, i'll have a look for you, but as mention, finding one that has the openning for USB and headphone socket at it's right place isn't easy, but find a leather holster that hangs horizontal that fit's the gnex isn't hard, but no promises.
As for cost, sholdn't cost more than USD 10 not including shipping.

I've been all over the web, searching for an inexpensive dock that may fit with a case on.
So far I've found a few, has anyone tried these?

I can only speak for number 3 definitely and it will fit with a thin case (TPU) although the stand isn't the most stable. If number 2 is anything like what I had for my Evo it won't fit with a case.
Thanks for your reply. I decided to go a completely different route actually...
I'm gonna write up a DIY Nexus dock that should be dead easy to make with $10 in materials to complete.
Link for Pic #4 is the same as Pic #3 link.
Corrected link for KR-Net Dock. Doesn't look like it'll fit with a case on. For $13, I'll give it a shot with my caseless i515.
Cool thanks!
#1 doesn't charge with a case (sgp neo) hybrid).
Wow, that's the exact case I've got and # 1 was my very first choice for docks. So that answers that question. Thanks!

No worries. It's a shame 'cos it's a nice dock and there's only a couple of mm lacking I think. No way to mod it cleanly either (yes I levered it open and looked :banghead: lol)
i think the best bet for a dock that will fit a gnex with case is the seidio innodock. it has a micro usb that is raised and pivots. seidio says that it works with their active.
I have a phillips fidelio dock for android and I wish manufacutres would build a case that is able to fit into the USB slot. It BARELY fits, but the Micro usb is just a tad bit too short to actually connect and charge the phone!!!
So I bought the expensive official Google folio case without doing my research. It doesn't auto wake/sleep which is pretty annoying, I take it there is just a magnet somewhere that does this. Anyone heard of anyone modifying it or putting a magnet in? Anyone know where the magnet is located so I can experiment?
are you sure you have the Folio case? because the Folio case is the 1 that has the wake/sleep function, which on mine works fine...

I'm sorry, I don't have the folio case. I have the regular case that looks like a book. Its really not worth the hefty price tag.
Fixed the title.
Just get some magnets and experiment, the sensor is on the bottom near the usb port. You could glue a few magnets on the outside of the case. Most folio's have 3 to 4 magnets...Get some nice chrome magnets at harbor freight tools or micheals or joann etc. Just avoid the neodymium, I hear those are too strong. theres also the plastic strip type magnets, but I haven't tested those. But it should be as easy as walking over to your frig and trying it out...

When held in portrait orientation, the sensor is on the left bezel near the bottom. I added a magnet to one of my Verso cases and it works perfectly.
what brand case? or is this official nexus 7 case?
Agreed - not worth $49.99
I bought one at Best Buy. It is Google Branded and stamped and says Nexus 7 2013 on the box.
I'm returning mine because once you fold it to watch the screen, it no longer lays flat and there is no way to close it. Plus, you can get what appear to be much better ones on Amazon for under $20. :fingers-crossed:
Hi, my clumsy idiot of a brother has just walked right across the charger wire of my Nexus 7 2013 and it dropped to the floor - luckily the screen seems ok but there is a decent sized chip on one edge of the outer shell.
I cannot return it where I got it from and I hate having cosmetically damaged things especially when I did not damage it, so I will not be happy until the damage is corrected.
Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the outer shell and replace with another?
By outer shell I mean the rubberised material you can feel on the back of the tablet, the same material at the edge is chipped so if I can replace the back which ultimately seems like the side as well (the back and side is one piece I think and is seperate to the glass part), then I can just swap for a new back that is not damaged.
Appreciate some ideas thanks.
Thanks

You're kidding me, this just happen while trying to work on that xbox controller thing?
It's certainly possible but finding one might be difficult, ebay would likely be the first place they pop up, another alternative is to cover it up for now with a fosman slim case, they go for about 7 bucks shipped, just ordered one myself.

Kind of I just put the thing on regular charge as I had given up for now on the controller went away and came back to find it having a lovely chip in the side crying:
Have been looking on Ebay for those cases that kind of clip on but most are patterned and I bet they are hard plastic, dammit I like the feel of the standard backing on the Nexus case
EDIT: Just noticed you mentioned a fosman case, never seen or heard of one but the link to it looks pretty decent, and would hide the chip.

You should make him pay for that fosman.
I also ordered one of these for when I am out an about, to hopefully prevent what just happened to you, I know $45 bucks, but in my case, I got a $50 gift card from a client which covered both those orders sans ~$5.
Yeah he payed for it, still wish it had not happened though. You're right best get one now should it happen to yours!

Good on him for paying up. Lucky I stay far away from siblings, not even in the same state, so I'm safe from that.
I used to love my running case with a plastic clip. It was a rugged dual case with one part that stays on the phone and then an extra clip on part to add the clip that you can attach to your shorts (facing either direction) ... I know it's still a little early, but anyone find something like that yet for the 7 Pro?

You should ask in the thread that already exists for cases.
