ive been with sprint for years now and had numerous phones from them and the lady told me i have a full upgrade available which gives me a 150$ rebate. But i thought a full upgrade usually gets you like 300$ off. like the evo would be 200$ with a full upgrade but with 150$ off the evo comes out to $350 am i missing something i know theres a year upgrade and a two year upgrade and i thought the 2 year was a full upgrade?
I may be wrong but how I usually remember it is -
Full Upgrade is your gonna get the price of the phone with a new 2 Year agreement usually every phone is $200 - and less. of course if you go through sprint your gonna pay an extra $100 that has a mail in rebate. (Why I recommend Bestbuy since everything is an instant rebate)
Good luck & sorry it wasn't as throughout as you were expecting!

Yeah that's what I thought but she said something about $150 dollars off but I had a full upgrade so idk she confused me

150 off after 2 years, 75 off after one year.
Does that 150 off get metoo the pricing the evo would be with a New 2 year contract at 199$

Thats why I never buy my phones directly from sprint try radioshack(online website or tigerdirect.com) I got mine from radioshack for 179.00(without tax and shipping)

$150 off the full price of the device ($450), then another $100 off mail-in (instant now, though) to bring the final price to $200.
If you're only eligible for $75 partial upgrade, it takes $75 off the full price but not another $100. So the price would be $375 with partial upgrade.
ok so you always get the mail in-rebate with full upgrade so u really get 250 off?

thats right...to just restate what others have said, when you have a full upgrade with Sprint, its just like a new customer buying the phone with a new contract...so after the discount and rebate (which i would go to radioshack or bestbuy since you dont have to mail it in) you pay a grand total of $200...they just make things difficult for the customer thats all
Awesome and yeah I goto best buy to buy all my phones

when I got my phone from radioshack I didnt have to do a mail in rebate... but that was on april 4 it was a online price only... they may have discontinued the offer I think tigerdirect is still having a sell.. better yet try amazonwireless.

I only have $75 off from Sprint to upgrade, so what is the cheapest method into getting the ET4G? Many websites unfortunately only take account the upgrade price if you're 2 years in, but most don't give you an option if you're between 1 and 2 years between contracts.

Cheapest way is through Sprint. Their retail price is $499 for the phone at Sprint stores. That's quite a bit cheaper than through other resellers.
Depending on what your coming from, you may be able to sell your old phone on ebay or craigslist to recoup some of the cost.
The other option is to wait. I have no doubts that this phone, while impressive right now, will be outclassed in a few months. By the time you can cash in your full discounted upgrade, there will be something bigger and badder... or the E4GT will be much cheaper.
Keep in mind, you'll have to go another two years if you cash in that $75. Not worth it in my opinion... it's just a phone.
$75 is NOT worth re-upping your contract for 2 years. I went ahead and paid pull price for the phone and I will keep my full upgrade for next spring when the hopefully the LTE phones are out
Best Buy gave the phone for$399.99 and I also was only qualified for a $75 discount. That and the gave me $97 bucks for my old Epic thus I got this bad boy for about $300 and change.

What i did was early terminate for $80 and started a new contract and got the phone for $199 plus acctivation. If you already got the phone wih only a 75 discount have ur accout reversed and do the early termination thing
p.s. If u do the account reversal you will need an old sprint phone to temperarily put ur number back on or they will charge u a restocking fee of 35 dollars

I was thinking of early terminating too. I am 1 year into my contract so it would be $100 for the ETF. Start a new contract and get the phone for $100 at Wal-Mart plus tax and $36 activation fee. The only thing is I want to keep my number so I would have to port it over maybe a prepaid phone or Google voice and then port it back to Sprint?

I did this exactly and traded in an Evo which they gave me an 87 credit for. I know I could of got more but it was too easy this way, totally off set the ETA. Phone number change for me wasn't a problem as I give out my Google voice number. I asked the guy at the store if he would just give me the full upgrade price instead of doing this but he said no. It was easy enough.
I was in the same situation. Got one from sprint, did not use it and sent it back because I realize that I could get a brand new one from eBay for cheaper and not use my $75 upgrade and be eligible for the next s3.
Maybe I might wait until after October 11 and see if Samsung and Google will announce the new Galaxy Nexus for Sprint hopefully. If it does come to Sprint I may just ETF and port my number out to a cheap prepaid phone and open a new contract.
Whats your current phone now? I personally think its worth it if you can sell your current phone for a decent amount and use it towards the 4g touch on eBay.
The best way is the Best Buy method. I sold my Evo and a Zune HD straight to Best Buy for about $210...I ended up paying $14 for mine (I had a full upgrade though).
If you've got some other old electronics you never use, I suggest going that route, Best Buy pays out pretty well.
Also, they won't be announcing the Nexus S in October. It'll be the iPhone 5 and MAYBE switching to LTE. IF we get the Nexus S, it won't be til later on.
I sold my Epic on Facebook in 20 minutes for $150, then used the $75 discount. I put down another $75 and billed the rest to my account. Ill have a huge bill next month, but I'm OK with that. But that's really the cheapest route.

I had the same problem and I was willing to just buy the Epic Touch full price without renewing my contract BUT I decided it was worth a shot calling customer service to see what they could do for me.
I got:
$100 account credit
$75 renewal
$75+ phone buyback (I had a bunch of old phones)
Which left me at less than $249 out of pocket.
Then I transfered my OG Epic to my wife, and she ended up getting a brand new OG Epic because the Sprint store couldn't figure out how to swap things over to her correctly and I wasn't about to tell them how
I'm happy with it because we both have brand new phones and like I said before I was ready to just buy it full price... and I still have a full upgrade next spring...

I see, yeah the 11th is coming up pretty soon anyways. I've noticed that the epic 4g touch prices have dropped quit a bit since I bought mine on eBay. I believe the going rate now is close to $450-60 shipped, I paid $480 for mine. Hopefully I can see my Evo for a decent amount. If you opt out for the new Nexus the price might be a bit lower too for the epic 4g touch.
coming from evo 4g, im due for an upgrade and am wanting the e4gt, and am trying to find the best deal possible. where do you guys go for deals when upgrading your phones?
$150 seems to be the best price i can find online, from amazonwireless, but they're out of stock for the next 8-9 days.
I bought mine from Wirefly via Bank of America's "Add-it-Up" program. $150 from Wirefly, $50 cash back from BofA, and no sales tax shipped to California was $100 net cash money out the door. Worth the extra return hassle during the first 14 days and the handcuffs Wirefly puts on you for the first 6 months.
It was just .01 on Amazon wireless but it seems that ended because I checked today and its back up to 99.99 and 149 for upgrade. Man you just missed that 1 cent deal

I bought my Epic 4g Touch at my local corporate sprint store. I have found that corporate stores usually have the ability to give you deals and exploit little loopholes that are sort of floating around in the sprint corporate system that non-corporate stores/contractors do not have access to.
Since switching to sprint I have had an Evo 4g, Nexus S 4g and currently the epic 4g touch. Despite being with sprint for less than 2 years I have paid below the rebate price for each of these phones. Each time I have gone into my local corporate store, I find the nerdiest guy in the store (basically, I look for someone like me) and then I nerd out with him over smart phones and tech stuff for a little while. I create some kind of basic connection with him and sell him on me as a customer, making him want to give me a good deal. To summarize, go to a corporate store, find an employee who you think will actually want to help you, and make yourself extremely likeable. I have received way more money back on my old phones as trade ins, exploited system loopholes and received discounts that I wasn't supposed to be eligible for.

In an industry where customer churn can be likened to the fearsome troll under the bridge, Sprint has launched a program designed to keep its favored subscribers around for another two years. While not everyone is eligible -- those who've upgraded less than eight months ago, corporate outfits and those in collections need not inquire -- the program lets customers buy their way out of their current commitment and become eligible for a new, subsidized handset. The promotion begins February 12th and is set to run through the 14th of April, where the amount you pay correlates to the time since your last upgrade. So if you're currently pining for the Epic 4G Touch or the iPhone 4S, just give your local Sprint store a call this Sunday. They just may be able to hook you up.

IMO opinion this is more of a contract buyout to get new user pricing than it is an early upgrade promo like the Sprint Premier Gold program was.
It makes 0 sense to pay $55 to buy out for early upgrade if you're like 1-4 months out.

Keep in mind though, that we live in a world where people will happily spend well in excess of $55 to "upgrade" from something like a IPhone 4 to a 4s. Sometimes, "sense" takes a back seat to a desire to be instantaneously satisfied... lol

I have to agree, people at my store will pay a lot to get their upgrade now to get the phone they want now. I think a lot of it comes from people who buy cheap phones and just can't take having them anymore and will do anything to get out of that phone.

This actually isn't a promotion. It's just a last resort offering by Retention as of right now. We've been doing it for months for customers in my stores, but it's never really been publicly advertised.

My wife is only 2 months away from an upgrade; if she waits, she still pays 36 dollars "activation fee", or, if she does it tomorrow, its the same 36 dollars, so, if you are a month or 2 away, it doesn't cost you a dime more to do it now..
yes, i am sure its to clean out the existing inventory before the "new" network is in full swing..

I work at a preferred dealer as well, just tell your customers to call customer care and see if they can do an early upgrade. If that doesn't work have them be transferred to retentions and say someone they know was able to buy out their remaining contract and get an early upgrade. That easy. I have my upgrade still, saving it for the GSIII because I'm not stupid like some people.

Ok I called Sprint customer care today inquiring about the upgrade. My girl's line is due for upgrade in October and I am tired of her complaining about her Evo3d restarting all the time. So I called to see if I can get that upgrade for an Iphone for her. I was told that the new promo is only for people who's upgrade is in April or earlier and are also having phone issues. I think I'm going to call a corporate store tomorrow. Any advice or am I wasting my time? The Engadget article said if you upgraded within the last 8 months your or not eligible. I didn't upgrade this line within the last 8 months.
To upgrade or not to upgrade....
I saw this on Friday and wandered into a Sprint store on Sunday. The fella at the desk told me this was all legit and that I would need to call customer service because he could not do anything from the store (he said to ask for the "retentions" department).
I've been suffering with a Hero for the last 18 months. Loved the phone when I first got it, but it didn't take long to realize that it was not powerful enough to keep me happy. My wife is on her third Moment because everything about that phone just doesn't seem to work. I was hoping to hold out for an LTE phone but it appears those won't be dropping until late summer, and I'm not sure if we can hold out that long.
On the Sprint website, I get a message that I am eligible for $150 off a new phone on April 1 (remnants of the Premiere Program). From what I read, I'll have to pay $36 to upgrade in April or I can pay $55 now.
So my question(s) to all you Sprint people out there, am I reading all this correctly? Will I still qualify for the $150 off the new phone? Am I absolutely crazy for not waiting for LTE? Should I take the SGS2E4GT (Galaxy S 2) or hold out for the Nexus?
Thanks for the input.

I would buy a used phone off Craig's list or something now and hold onto you upgrade for an LTE device. You can get an E4GT for around $300 and EVO 3D for much less or an Nexus 4G for even less then that.
That is what I would do because once the GN drops you know you will want it or whatever cool LTE phone comes out soon after that...
The way I read this is that they are just pro-rating your ETF (the way they all should do anyway).
In theory, it works like this:
A high end handset costs ~$600 but in exchange for signing a 2-year contract, the cell phone carrier will subsidize $400 of the cost and roll the cost of that "loan" into the cost of your monthly service. You get a new phone without as large an initial outlay of cash and they gain a steady source of income for at least the next 2 years.
In theory you should be able to bring your own phone and get service at a lower cost off-contract because you aren't paying off a subsidy but since the top 3 providers don't offer this, there is not really any benefit to not taking the subsidy. You are already paying the same monthly rate so other than not being locked into a service contract, you gain nothing financially from not taking the $400 subsidy.
Along with this, in theory, your ETF should drop by 1/24th every month as you are basically paying off the subsidy one month at a time over two years. Once again, it doesn't quite work that way. At least this is an attempt to let people pay off the remaining subsidy before signing a new contract and taking a new one.
I would prefer to just pay $600 for my phone and then pay $17 less per month (approx 1/24 of $400) with no contract but since the US market seems accustomed to cheaper subsidized handsets on contract I don't know it would ever take off much. The contracts, handset exclusives, and lack of porting options have made it so the carriers have little incentive to compete on price or plan options..but that's another topic for another day.
Well I got mine it was 40 bucks but.my Gf needs a new phone had so, iPhone 4s and she can have my day 2week old epic touch 4g

I've been an AT&T customer since before the Cingular merger, but have been off contract for about 2 months. (Last contract renewal w/ phone upgrade was Sept 2010)
I called into 611, and the upgrade sales department. I told my CSR Justyn (female) that I was off contract, and interested in the GS3, but I was not sure I wanted to go back on contract for a $200 phone. I asked if AT&T would be willing to price match an offer from Sam's club for the GS3 w/ a 2 year contract. She asked how much, I replied with $0.96. (Note: I did not mention that this was a Black Friday special) After verifying that my account was in fact out of contract, she put me on hold to ask her manager if this price match could be confirmed.
She came back from hold, said that her manager would match that price to start a new 2 year contract. I also made sure to get an email documenting that I would keep my grandfathered unlimited data plan.
Final cost: 16GB GS3 - $0.96 + $10.36 S,H,&T = $11.32 total.
If you call in, are polite, but with hesitation to upgrade (and being available to do so) I don't see a problem for anyone else trying to get this for themselves.
(BTW - My GF just got a GS3 a few days ago, and is pissed that she paid $199. She is going to see about getting a refund from T-Mob tonight. )
Awesome, just got off the phone with ATT customer care (third time`s the charm), they credited $200 to my account as a price match from bestbuy (BB price matched me for Amazon`s $99) .
Another success story, just got off the phone. Got a very nice rep, was super polite, said i was a long time customer (even though it only showed i was since January) and got my phone fully refunded! Big thanks to the OP for this!
Well I had mixed success. I followed the approach of nae10135 and I ended up getting them for $50 each, which is what I had been hoping to pay before I saw these extreme deals for BF. I called, spoke to a guy who said $50 each, I said I needed to think about it and he said he'd put a note on my account. I called back an hour later and the lady I spoke to said that they were $300 each (!) and that she didn't have to honor the note on the account. I called back again right away and told the guy I was confused about whether they would honor the offer from the first guy and he was like "Of course we will, it's already noted on your account."
Took longer than I expected but they should be here early next week. When we were almost done I thought to ask if a local AT&T store would have honored the price from the first guy and he said that they might or might not, but I kind of wish I'd gone by to check so I didn't have to wait for shipping etc. Oh well.
The most important thing to me was getting it for a decent price and not having to lose my data plan, which I would have given up if I'd actually gone to Sams.
Nice. Yeah att has been very generous lately. For me for instance. I renewed my contract and got the S3 in July for 150. Went in in September and upgraded my same contract again and got the hox for 99.00 to sell. Then just last week they let me upgrade the same contract again and sold me another gs 3 for 199. So I got three phones at the subsidised price in like 4 months time
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Hey guys. OP here... My galaxy s3 ARRIVES TOMORROW!!!!! So excited
ALSO: YOU CAN GET ATT TO WAIVE ACTIVATION FEE AND SHIPPING FEE AS THEY DID FOR ME! I PAID A TOTAL OF $1.05 FOR EVERYTHING

I bought my s3 almost a month ago for the full subsidized price of $199. Felling inspired by this post I called att and got a $99 credit on my account. So not as great as $.99 but an improvement from where I'm sitting.
