Reparing Screen Dammage!

Greetings XDA,
Recently i have dropped my rhod100 and broke the digitizer which actually didn't affect the device except the accuracy of the screen abit and the annoying broken glass.
so today i got a replacement Digitizer, i opened the device and to my surprize, the LCD is glued to the digitizer and it's really difficult to separate them. so if you want to change one of them, make sure you order both bacuase 99% of the time you will break one of them.
notice that hair dryer did help in the spearation but the LCD didn't make it in my case
waiting for my new LCD to reach so i can continue the repair, for now i have no device :'(

[Q] LCD and Digitizer/Lens are they Glued together or can i just buy Digitizer

Hello, i had the misfortune to drop my Arc and having removed the factory fitted protector it shattered the glass and became unresponsive to touch commands. I am pretty certain the actual lcd is fine though. I have looked at a replacement digitizer but i am concerned that the LCD will be glued to it which will need a bit more expertise than i have. i have googled and found a video on an x10 dissasembly but even this is vague as to the build of the LCD/Digitizer..
anyone have any experience with this issue or any advice.
thanks in advance
They're glued together. Apparently you can use a hairdryer to melt the glue and separate the components, but needs patience, a steady hand, and a bit of luck...

That is so annoying, i have just bought a digitizer from formymobile . com and i really dont wanna attempt it if they are a whole unit. i got hold of a torx 6 and took it apart as by the service manual that was posted on here but to get the screen off they have a specialist clamp and suction pad contraption..
I could fudge it but i am heavy handed at the best of times..
looks like a 85 pound repair bill from my local repair shop.. Better than buying a new phone i suppose.
many thanks for your advice

Alcohol Under Glass - Does anyone know how to fix it?

Last night, I went a little to crazy with drinking and woke up this morning to find that there is something (probably alcohol) between the glass and the brush metal of my phone. I looked around for a disassembling video but couldn't find one that shows how to remove the glass. Is this possible? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this?

Will post pictures in a second.

lol... it may be more trouble than it's worth... i'm sure i can find you a disassembly guide but is the glass going to need to be seperated from the lcd? or do you need to just need to take the phone down some to get to where it is? the lcd is affixed to the glass with adhesive and separating the two and getting them back together without any problems will be pretty difficult without breaking the lcd... if its close to pure spirits it should evaporate fine... unless its beer or liqeuor...
anyways...
it will be he same as I9300:

to sum it up, it's all into one part, and when purchasing one, it's always kitted up, but i recommend against trying to get the two pieces apart...
The video doesn't show the removal of the screen. However, looking at how to remove the glass from the LCD, it doesn't seem to be worth the trouble. I'll throw it in a bowl of rice and see if its able to soak up whatever's under there.

yea that part is always sold together... for someone who breaks it, they have to buy the whole front of the phone... and from experience with similar models, the lcd is stuck to the glass with adhesive, and the backside of the lcd is stuck to the housing with even more adhesive... its very difficult to seperate the 3 without breaking something...

Well, let me try... If you changed the battery, you already know how to replace the backplate, so it shouldn't be a problem. If you want to replace the midframe/housing, that's quite a bit more work, but still doable, if you are comfortable working with heat gun or hair dryer. I would strongly recommend watching some YouTube videos on the subject (phone model doesn't matter; you just need to understand how to work with a heat gun and a suction cup). Also, finding a good disassembly guide for ZL would be useful, to make sure you follow the teardown steps properly.
Note that I personally haven't done a full ZL disassembly, but I know how it's put together, and I have done similar repairs on multiple other phones, including Xperia Z, Z1, LG G2, Galaxy S2 and others. Basically, you need to remove the backplate, then disconnect everything and remove all components accessible from the back, making sure not to damage ribbon cables in the process (some of them are very delicate). This is where a good disassembly guide comes in very handy. After that, you are left with the most difficult task: removing the display/digitizer assembly without damaging it. You need to carefully (that's the keyword here!) heat it up around the perimeter to loosen up the adhesive, and carefully pull it from the housing with a suction cup, working your way around the edge with a plastic spudger, or a guitar pick, or a similar tool. At this stage, you can quite easily break the glass, or split the LCD/digitizer "sandwich", so, again, be careful!
If you have no experience whatsoever doing this, your screen's chances of survival are quite slim. I am pretty handy with electronics and with stuff in general, and literally spent years with soldering iron in my hands. Still, my first two attempts were fudged up (the screen was already damaged in both cases, so no harm done, but lessons learned). First time, I fried the display with a heat gun. Second time, cracked the glass trying to separate it from the housing. That was enough for me to learn the tricks. So, be prepared to replace the screen, if you break it. But hey, you may very well get lucky, and do it right the first time around...
Assuming you are through the disassembly process, you will then need to put the phone back together in your new housing, using two adhesive gaskets: one for the display, and another for the backplate. I would recommend buying the proper pre-cut adhesive for your phone (check out Amazon or eBay), but you can also use a narrow high-quality double-sided tape (3M or similar), manually cut in place.
Good luck!
Tried googling up but it seemed that there are no guide for changing the housing for xperia zl.
But oh well, maybe I need to buy the lcd screen just in case I failed. But thanks! That'll boost my spirit up to do it

I need help removing Nexus 5X screen

Hello guys,
I had an accident where I spilled liquid on top of my phone's screen, it was alcohol based, so it got through the bottom speaker and went to the screen layers. After a couple of days of trying to dry it out, there are still terrible looking streaks that look like water damage. I tried using a hair dryer and a suction tool from my car mount for the phone, to remove the screen, but it won't budge. This method worked easy with my old Nexus 5. Some heat, I pull up and it comes right off. With this - I heated as much as I can, and then pulled with all my strength, but screen will not come loose from the frame.
Has anyone removed the screen on their phone, or does anyone have experience in doing such things, to help me pull this off?
I believe that if I manage to remove the screen, and clean the layers, screen should be back to 100%.
I asked a friend of mine to lend me his heat gun, but I am afraid of applying too much heat and killing the LCD, or doing bad things to the plastic body of the phone.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Have you checked out the dismantle video on youtube? I believe you have to go through the back.

NO! I know how ti disassemble the phone... What you are posting doesn't even include the screen separation from the frame.
I have been watching videos a lot, but I myself, after following them, am unable to separate screen from frame. And to be fair there is just 1-2 videos out there that actually show people doing that. In one a dude used heat, a suction tool and a precision knife to lift the screen from the frame. I don't think using a metal tool on a heated plastic, to lift a glass is a good idea, especially when the adhesive is so strong. I guess the screen from that video has already been removed, that is why it looked so doable. I bet if I try that, I will f*ck up my pristine frame (phone is 1,5 months old)
You have to go through the back. See link https://youtu.be/Y8XpqwLsrUo
Same problem here, I cannot manage to separate the screen from the frame. Did you manage to remove it?
I broke that damn glass into pieces from the back holes, allowing me to insert a guitar plectrum and finally remove it all. Fixed
