The z1, while it runs the same OS 4.2.2 it has a 5.0 email client. Is it possible to run on the ZL? It looks to have many improvements.
You may try and post a new thread on the Z1 forum and request for the email client 5.0 apk there so you can try it but your phone need to be rooted to put in system/app folder.
Here to upload Eamil client 5.0 from Z1

Thanks! I got the apk and dropped it in system/app. I renamed it so as not to overwrite the native but I don't suppose it will allow me to run that way? is it safe to overwrite the apk? Will I lose data?

Further, tried over-writing the native apk and re-setting permissions. Could not get it to run and got mail errors. Replaced the original apk and then things were ok so not stranded....what am I missing?
Tried it myself, does not work so unfortunately just have and wait and see if Sony have create one for other version such as our ZL in upcoming 4.3 update in December or 4.4 Kit Kat update or maybe not.

I can't help you porting it, but maybe it FC'ed because of different Android API. You can't simply shove an apk from any Android to another Android, especially if the version number differs. What is the Android version in your Chinese phone?

installing here(im root)lemme see
the one that fails is because of missing library...
http://prntscr.com/2wb2uu
its com.here.android
lemme do somethings to see if i can get it works
Attached are missing libs and framework.
framework/com.here.android.jar
lib/libMapsEngineResourcePkg.so
lib/libMAPSJNI.so
On 4.4 app gets stuck after loading the HERE logo. Maybe it'll work on Jelly Bean 4.1?? I didn't try the build.prop mod.
Logcat shows signature mismatch of com.androd.location.provider.jar, so I have attached that as well. If you replace this, make sure to do a backup beforehand.
It seems like we're getting close!

waiting to see it soon!
It's not complaining about an incorrect device anymore. That's something. Thanks to some variables in the smali files, I can see that it is looking for a file which can not be found now. There is either a folder on /sdcard by default on a Nokia X, or there is a library/framework we are missing. I will build a list of all required files later.

There are a lot of apks and zips which aren't working on Moto Z. This one IS working.
Just flash it with TWRP and set as default phone app.

Just tried... If you simply extract the two apk from the zip you can install them with no issues at all... (I prefer it from flashing...)
The Contact apk is the same as you can find on Play Store, while the Telephone apk is a (lot) newer version than that available on Play Store... Thanx a lot! :highfive:
EDIT: wrong! No problem with contacts, it can be downloaded and installed from Play Store too... BUT Telephone refused to install on Z while installed fine on another MM I use... I'll investigate more on this issue...

Ok, it's possible to install single apks BUT it's needed to install jar & permissions file (& reboot before...) so, for newbies is probably better to simple flash the zip (that is ok, I've cheched...)
Main difference is that flashing after the apps can't simply be uninstalled but become part of the system since they are put in priv-apps... (ok, they can be freezer or removed by a root file manager anyway...)
I'm using it anyway... small differencies for contacts, a lot more (and interesting...!) for dialer...

There's a modded apk here, somewhere, but the problem becomes the caller id functions don't work as it needs to be signed by Google to use the correct APIs. So unless Google messes up like they did with 2.05_rc4 we'll never have an "simple apk" version.

I saw. Already installed as I said... They need the .jar and .xml of permissions ...
Anyway, the dialer is a *major* upgrade, not only a "cosmetic" one... It is a newer version than the one released with Aosp Nougat 7.1 and beneath there are some newer versions too, it is the newer one working on MM too (the others need at least v. 7.0 to work...)

Nope, it doesn't work with stock android nougat on my moto z xt1650-03, retailmx. After the restart the phone wasn't able to open, not a single app was able to recover my phone app; so I applied my TWRP backup and tried again, same result. So I decided to make it work because I didn't want to delete everything again so, this is what I did:
Make sure to flash the zip, and if you can use your phone anymore, don't panic like me...
1. Erase the app via Titanium Backup pro
2. Restart the phone
3. Go to the file explorer, find the zip of the nougatdialer and extract the dialer apk
4. install it like a normal app and voila!
5. grant permissions if needed.
I think the normal apk should work on nougat.
If not here's the nougat zip:

OP FaceUnlock is really bad, I can unlock my coworker's 5T just because we have similar shapes (same age, glasses and short hairs) :silly:
Instructions:
1.Extract
2.Place the folder in system/priv-app
3.Set the permissions.
4.Reboot.
Let me know if its working or not.
I'd test it but sadly I'm already on the leaked build, and don't plan on updating to the beta until xXx releases a version based on the new beta.
Hopefully this works though, it'd be great. **fingers crossed**

For face unlock to work you need more than just face unlock and settings app. I tried the ones from closed beta 2, there is a section in settings, but adding face data fails.
I got face unlock working flawlessly just by installing the OnePlus face unlock apk from apkmirror on nougat Oxygen OS build
Has anyone been able to install the latest camera app from the XZ2?
I tried it on my unrooted XZP, but it can't install.
I wonder if the image quality would improve with it, since the camera hardware is supposed to be identical.
Here's a link to the app https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sony-.../sony-camera-2-1-a-0-31-android-apk-download/
Also, apart from rooting, is there a way to force the install this app on unrooted device?
Any chance to port it to XZ Premium ?

Is the full firmware available yet? Probably just a signature problem
What you need need to first is rename the app to standard com.sonyericsson.android.camera.apk you have to be rooted.
Disable the stock Sony camera app
SemcCameraUI-jniLibs64-xxhdpi-release/
Rename the apk .bak or something Android doesn't parse upon boot.
Create the folder com.sonyericsson.android.camera/
Place the app inside then reboot that should replace the camera with the new one.

Thanks for a guide, maybe someone with rooted phone will be able to try it out.
Is there a way to modify this new app without rooting the phone? Changing its "signature" to work with older devices? Some kind of .apk editor or something? Or do you need the full firmware dump with camera drivers and everything?
