hi there,
ı just bought a brand new t mobile note 3. There are some problem i am facing.
1. I know first party of these phones had some voice distortion problem when calling. They fixed it with second party. But, when I tried to send voice message on whatsapp, my voice is too low. On my previous phone, Note 2, i tried and it was better. I could not find the problem and any way to enhance the recording quality.
2. I can not send or receive SMS via stock sms application or Hangout. I know some people faced same problem before but nobody replied them with a possible solution (apn is correct)
3. T Mobile's own visual voicemail app can not connect to its server. I do not want to change my voicemail to third party ones. So any idea?

Here are instructions to handle your first issue. I've tried it myself and it works.:

As for your second issue... I don't have that problem. Why is an SMS sent when you don't answer the phone? What does it contain? When I don't answer my phone, my phone just shows a missed call, unless a voice message was left.
The second problem might be related to the providers voicemail set up, at least with t-mobile you can set up such behaviour to get an (or many) SMS for missed call. Nothing to be done on artemis, this can be changed at the provider.

i've mananged the problem with sms ... mobile secretary was (epic fail)
but with youtube still working ..
I am using Google Voice on my Epic 4G Touch. I am not using it to get free calls and am not using any program like "sip droid" in conjunction with it.
I am partial to it mainly for the online logs, the ability to send texts via web browser, and the transcribed voicemail.
Phone: Epic 4G touch
Rom: StarBurst v1.9.8r
Kernel: LoStKernelExp+ 1.0.0.8
Mods: None.
Problem/Question:
Google voice will receive my text fine and show them on both the phone and browser. BUT, Even though GV is set to also notify the native E4GT "Messaging" app, sometime the Messaging app receives them late or not at all. Is this normal with GV and I have to live with it? Or is there an alternative messaging app that "jives" with GV a little bit better?
Thank you in advance for all of your help.
- Dan
I know others use GV...
Do you not have any problems?
Do you use GV to generate and reply to text or, the native app?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you number is ported to Google Voice is that it essentially intercepts all of your text messages, and then sends you a duplicate SMS. One possibility is that there is a "hitch" in this process at Google which causes a delay or total SMS loss.
However, I'm guessing the lag most likely has to do with poor reception or LOS on your phone. If you have airplane mode on, and then turn on wifi, you will receive all of your text messages in Google Voice and none in the SMS app. Concurrently, if you were on wifi and had poor or no cell signal (LOS), you would receive a text in the Google Voice App, but it would not arrive in the native messaging app until you had signal again. Do you live or travel through poor reception areas?
A suggestion. If you go into Google Voice in your browser, you can deactivate "Receive text messages on this phone" on the settings page. Messages will not be forwarded to your native SMS app at all, and then you can just rely on the Google Voice app for text messaging--and not receive two notifications for each text. This is what I do because I do not mind the Google Voice app, and there is no cell signal at my work, yet wifi is available.
The downsides to this are:
a) you may not like to use the Google Voice app, and/or
b) you must have a data connection (3g/wifi) to receive text messages--this might not be ideal if you travel in poor data signal areas
Note that using a different SMS application would not provide any different result as the problem occurs before any message actually reaches your phone.
Thank you for the reply.
The odd thing is that if I am texting 4-5 people, I will not receive the texts from one of them... It is always a different person and does not happen very often.
I would like to strictly use the GV app (wish it had more setting options and skins) but, it does not appear to support MMS.
Overall I am happy with how it works. Didn't know if there was a third party texting app that actually logged into GV texting.

Hi,
I have an evo with DeckRom on it (gingerbread). I'm trying to get skype to be my default dialer, or even better to have it prompt me for what I'd like to use as a dialer (phone or skype).
I can't for the life of me figure this out. Phone doesn't show up under settings-applications-manage-all. I've cleared defaults from gocontacts.
I've tried uninstalling skype, then rebooting the phone and redownloading the app.
Still nothing.
Other thing I might like is the ability to choose google voice to make outgoing calls if that is available.
Thanks in advance.
Bump for this. I'm having the exact same issue on my thunderbolt running stock/rooted debloat. Any help would be great as I'm retiring the thunderbolt and basically turning it intoca glorified pda/voip phone.
Google voice can be set as a default dialer/SMS/voicemail app but Skype I don't believe will set as a default however on decks gb rom in settings under calls you can set up a SIP account for voip calling with no added apps it will use the default dialer to call over ip
When I first installed skype, android gave me the option to choose how to complete the call. I no longer receive that option.

My goal is to either:
1. have the option of using skype, google voice or T mobile when initiating a call from my contacts list
or
2. be able to access and successfully choose a contact from my list when I'm on skype
At some point (I don't know why) my phone stopped giving the choice of using Skype, google voice or TMobile for an outgoing call. I would love to get that back since Skype doesn't allow me to use my phone contact list to make calls. Any ideas on how to achieve my goal?
Please tell me how to have a notification on my email when someone responds to my question.
Thanks

Yes. I have done it with Skype, Fring and the google one I think is Gtalk.
I have done it with skype and gtalk as well. On my wifes galaxy sl it has an option for video call when she makes a normal phone call. Does this phone have that type of option?

What I do have is Contacts from Skype that I have merged with my Google Contacts allow me to make a skype video call. It has the option "Video call with Skype"
I went to Contacts ---> Groups --> and choose my Skype user name and can see all my Skype contacts and those contacts have the "Video call with Skype" option.
Worked just fine calling my friend's Xperia Play VZW over Talk. Front camera was better than his
is there any way to have video calls via dialer? i've got free video calls, not data so I don't want to use skype or talk
Ask you're survive provider what app they support in free video calls, dialer has no ability to make video calls.

Seconding dudejb here -- this is done through some app provided by that carrier, which may only be available on phones sold by that provider. Even if they won't willingly provide you with the app, hope is not completely lost -- you can dump the APK from a friend's Android phone, or get creative with an OtG cable on a demo unit at one of their stores. No guarantees that'll work though -- it may depend on some weird framework or hardware inside their phones.
any changes?
Hi, I've tried to search forum in this topic without success, so I need a clear answer for this question: is there any ROM supporting native video calls at the moment for i927?
And the second question (no need for very clear answer ) - anybody found any way to make native video call with i927? I thought this device is part of Galaxy S II series of phones which were declared to support such calls, but I'm quite confused now and afraid of being mislead...
I did a search on the forums and didn't find any relevant threads, so I'm creating this one.
I have my Google Voice app set to show a prompt asking which number I want to use before each call. However, I've noticed that on occasion the call will go through using my carrier line before I even make a selection on the prompt. I tested this further and set Google Voice to always use Google Voice line to make calls, then I made calls to another number I have access to. After several test calls, I found that about half the time, the call still goes through my carrier line. There wasn't any indication on my phone that it was using the carrier line or Google Voice line.
If I use the Google Voice app to make a call, it will always use my Google Voice line, even though it's going through the phone's stock dialer app.
I'm wondering if anyone else has similar issues and what solutions there might be to fix this. I wanted to replace the stock dialer with Google's dialer app and Google Contact app, but it seems that Google's dialer app is not compatible with the Mate SE/7x.
Can anyone think of a solution? I think that by somehow making the stock dialer delay for 2-3 seconds before each call, it would give enough time for Google Voice prompt to show up and freeze the dialer until I make a choice. I'm not sure how to do this, though.
Alternatively, are there any good dialers to replace the stock one?
I am having a similar issue on my Honor 7X and my wife's 6X. GV has been working great for months on both phones. Now (I think we noticed it in late April) when someone calls our Primary Phone # it doesn't get routed to GV Voice Mail, it goes to the Carrier's VM. For my wife, when someone calls her GV # it doesn't ring on her phone and is routed to her carrier VM. When she sets removes her "Linked Number" then calls to her GV # are routed to GVM but do not ring on her phone.
I have tried installing an older version of GV, no luck, and I have since been updated to EMUI 8 (Android 8.0) and I still have the same problem. I'm wondering if it's a carrier issue/change? We use Consumer Cellular (ATT network). When I go into Call Forwarding in Call Options it will not let me set a Call Forwarding number and tells me "Unexpected Network Response."
Hopefully someone will fix this soon. My wife uses her GV# for work.
Having the same issue, it's not consistent, some calls go to gv some to carrier vm...
