Need help to go back to stock - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Hello all, I've been a lurker in the shadows for many months using the amazing expertise on this board for my different devices. So here I am needing help and hence my first post.
I basically bought a Verizon HTC One and now have issues that I need to return the phone for warranty. I used the rumrunner process to unlock my bootloader and s-off. I have proceeded to delete most of the bloatware (probably not an issue but just trying to give as much of the backstory as possible) but I have kept the phone stock other than that (no custom ROMs). I did install Clockwork recovery 6.0.4.4 (not touch). When my phone reboots, I do have the red text at the bottom. I believe that is all really. I have attached a pic of my bootloader screen if that helps. I just need to know exactly what steps to follow to return it to stock out of the box. Sorry if this has been answered before but there are so many different threads with what seems like other issues. You guys don't know how much I appreciate the help in advance, Thanks!

I am in the exact same situation...so far from what I can tell the problem is getting stock recovery and being able to get s-on back

If you guys have an unlocked bootloader you can pull stock recovery.IMG out of the decrypted RUU zarboz posted and that will get you back to stock recovery. You need to have the fastboot and adb files from htcdev. Just copy that recovery.img to your fastboot directory and use (dont type cmd: ) cmd: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. Once you have stock recovery and are absolutely dead set on sending the phone in for warranty repairs you can flash that decrypted RUU via RUU mode. The instructions for flashing the RUU are in Zarboz's thread. Once you flash that there is a tool that gets rid of the red lettering and spoofs the system into saying s-on even if it isn't.
OR once you get back to stock recovery you can download the signed zip I tracked down. I'll post that link once I get home.

Guess I am just lost right now...
Where do I find these fastboot and adb and get them on the phone..
Tracked down Zarboz's thread but no working links...

Give this a try....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475216&highlight=s-on

Really? Odd. As far as the adb and fastboot files get on HTCDev and download the SDK. HTCDev actually gives you the instructions on the site.

S-ON Security Warning, Help

Ok so here is what I did
I unlocked the bootloader through HTCs site
I installed a custom recovery
I installed a custom ROM
S-ON is still there, so I wanted to downgrade to turn S-OFF unfortunately I did the dumbest thing possible and locked the bootloader again attempting to downgrade so I can use revolutionary. Now I have a security warning
I am not exactly sure what to do from this point. The phone is fully functional on a custom ROM but I have no recovery access and I want to install MIUI.
If anyone has an idea I would like to hear it. I went wrong by not downgrading and turning S-OFF before unlocking the bootloader. I just want to know how I can fix this.
Did you revert back to a locked bootloader? If so, just follow the instructions in Development for downgrading .98 bootloader.

Yeah it's not working :-\
It gives an error when it does the fastboot gets stuck on waiting for device, I manually reinstall the verizon rom and it goes to the black HTC screen. Finishes sending and restarts on the custom ROM I already have on there.
Phone is still locked with the security warning. Person using the phone has been using a sense rom, would really like to get rid of a the security warning :|
as long as you re-locked the bootloader you should be able to s-off. What bootloader do they have? If its .98 you will need to downgrade and s-off.
anytime I try to downgrade the phone goes into a bootloop when I run hack-vivow.cmd
if I manually boot it into the bootloader after that, the script says it's sending the files, once it's done and the phone reboots it goes back to the last ROM it was running as if I never did anything :-\
Try a different computer or account. For some reason it wouldn't allow me to run hack_vivow.cmd or whatever on mine, re installed sdk and adb on my laptop and did the drivers, made sure fastboot was off, and it ran perfectly. Now that was me being on 2.3.4 shipped with the .98 bootloader. Now on my pc I went and s-offed because for some reason on my laptop, it wouldn't recognize my device, and then I pushed the recovery and use adb all the time

Here are the details of what I am dealing with as of now:
S-ON
Custom Recovery is installed
Phone is Rooted
Bootloader is unlocked
Currently on 0.98
ROM is TSM Bullet
I cannot downgrade even if I relock the bootloader, it will install and run the last ROM that was on there. Only ROMs that are signed appear to work and I'm guessing this is because of S-ON. I need to know how I can get S-OFF or even downgrade at this point. I tried every method I could find here and nothing seems to work
you need to relock install ruu 2.3.4 with hboot .98-do this from bootloader(PG32IMG)
THEN RUN DOWNGRADE TOOL
THEN RUN REVOLUTIONARY FOR ROOT AND S-OFF
---------- Post added at 09:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:41 PM ----------
If your on a custom rom you need too go back to stock or downgrade tool won't work.
Seems to be getting stuck at the command reboot fastboot oemRUU
???? download the ruu rename it PG32IMG put on the root of sdcard. make sure the file on the sdcard reads PG32IMG.zip.(exactly)then boot into bootloader, it will pick up the file and run it then ask to proceed, select volume up to continue, it should install up date. if you phone won't let you put it on your sdcard at this point either put it on another card or pull your card put it in an adapter and move to card with your computer.
---------- Post added at 10:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:25 PM ----------
you don't need to use adb to do the ruu
Sorry it's locking up there on the downgrade. I am going to start on another computer and follow the instructions on downgrading. I am back to stock!
ok step one complete
---------- Post added at 10:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:31 PM ----------
make sure you put the vivow hack files on the root of C: then type cd cthe file name)
Phone rooted, S-OFF
THANK YOU!!!

As my first post here, I wanted to make it something helpful. Anyway, you will need to find the stock recovery and use fastboot to put it on. Sorry, don't know where you would look to find one, maybe someone has one here?

well as i understand you need to revert to device's stock condition
as far as i know only way to do it is by RUU or individually flashing every image. RUU is easily done but as you mentioned you get error messages try finding out what those error messages mean
common messages are
cant connect to device----ensure you are in fastboot usb mode
version problems----check weather you are using the right RUU (RUU is different for diferent regions) one RUU can have more than one versions so be sure which one you need
and you also need to lock you bootloader before running RUU
let me know if anything works
take a complete backup and make a goldcard just in case..you never know what may happen

Actually, this 's-on' and 's-off' is very much important. You can flash any stock rom with s-off but not that easily with s-on. I'm a noob so I can't really explain further. Search for it!

i got same problem some days ago.cant port ruu and remove cwm.
so first of all you find your ruu from football's marvel collection or search on internet.if its in .zip file its very good extract it,you ll find recovery.img,boot.img and system.img
or if its in .exe file.first try installation wizard if its fail.again start installation wizard and then keep it on dont update bootloader just go to temp folder.(C:\Users\[LoginName]\AppData\Local\Temp\{82B23FCD-D5D0-45CA-A3A2-5350D3926551}) in this you will have see rom.zip file extract it.you ll find
recovery.img,boot.img and system.img then,
remove battery (power +volume down) to going in hboot then click on fastboot then plug your phone usb with computer open cmd and type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you can see fastboot file in your extracted zip.by this way you manually port stock rom.i tried it and it successfully possible.but i use my original stock rom, ages when i used europe rom it failed.
and please be careful in type commands it ll brick your phone if you doing anything wrong..maybe it ll help you
and yes one thing read this thread carefully i recommand third method which i mentioned here.

and s-on or s-off.there are many difference between twos.i dont know much i m also noob here.but with s-off you can change your hboot, radio and many customization but with s-on its difficult i think.so i recommand you to flash your orginial stock rom if you are s-on.i have s-on phone so my phone wont remove cwm with any other stock roms and its got failed.so mind this thing.and know more about s-on and s-off read this.

I solved my problem using flashy program. it's very useful. I get the recovery.img from a stock rom's .zip, then flashed.

Only benefit is that you can unlock it, and are then able to fastbot flash recoveries and boot images.

I'm so thankful that cmlusco had these simple words listed here. I was trying without success to flash a recovery via hboot.92 to no avail. I am s-off and rooted running tinys cm10.1. The problem started when i wanted to use twrp as a recovery. I tried installing that in android itself with goomanager. It said it was successful so tried to reboot into recovery. no dice. it now doesn't even have cwm recovery which was what i was trying to replace. it just goes back into hboot. so i thought, "ok, i'll just adb it" again either with shell in android or via fastboot in hboot it says remote failed. this one line he just wrote tells me that despite everything i have, i cannot install via hboot. The only thing that works is having a pb31img file to install it. the problem is, most recoveries come in .img. so I thought i could just repackage it as a zip and use the txt from another twrp i had previously gotten to work by way of a pb31img and create my own new pb31img with the newest version (the old one i had was already made by someone else and installs flawlessly). basically now i'm curious if i should just ask how to make the newest twrp into a proper pb31img file to flash (since i know this works) or is there an easy way to upgrade hboot.092 to 1.07? Any help on either of these or both subjects would be greatly appreciated. Just for the record cmlusco, am i right in thinking the reason i can't fastboot flash my recovery is because my loader is locked somehow despite being rooted and s-off? will upgrading to hboot 1.07 enable all of what i want to do? Also, what's the best way to go about doing this? I have everything i need backed up so no worries there. Thanks in advance to any and all help!

You don't even need to go through all that trouble. Just use the PB31IMG.zip here:
PB31IMG.zip - 3.61 MB
It's also in the TWRP thread on one of the last few pages, TWRP 2.4.1.0.

Correct you can not fastboot flash unless your bootloader is unlocked. Since your s-off you can update the bootloader by flashing this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Hboots/Hboot_1.07/PB31IMG.zip, thru hboot. Once updated, you can unlock it and then flash img files with fastboot.
However, here is the TWRP 2.4.1.0 PB31IMG.zip http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/TWRP_2.4.1.0/PB31IMG.zip, if you dont want to update the bootloader. You may need to flash it two or three times to get it to take.

Thanks to you and tiny for such a quick and simple response. pb31img used and updated perfectly! Just curious, cmlusco, in your signature i noticed you on hboot 1.07 but it's locked. Any particular reason for having it locked? I have yet to update mine but i did download and organize the pb31 hboot img you gave me for possible future use ( if i feel the need). Other than the aformentioned advantage of flashing hboot via fasboot and adb, is there any other advantage of hboot 1.07? Thanks again guys, you make my life easier.

Not really, S-OFF should get you what you need. You only miss the ability to flash via fastboot without an unlocked HBOOT. PB31IMG.zip works fine with S-OFF.

I'm not an expert . But I think you can't flash stock Rom from custom recovery. You must do it with Adb commands or what they like to call flash in fastboot mode. And for getting official firmware updates from HTC you need to setup stock recovery. I dunno but you may have to lock boot loader and S-ON too. But not sure. As I said, I'm not an expert

You need a stock recovery to do OTA updates, won't work with custom recovery.
COLLECTION of Stock Backups See if you can find your stock recovery in that thread. Flash it and then you should be good to go.

No, if he's S-OFF there is no need to lock bootloader or to go S-ON.
He can just download the recovery stock .img file and flash it through command prompt. When he's done and the phone restarted he should get the OTA update.
Only issue he might run into, if he's rooted he'll lose root access and will have to reroot, it happened to me, but it's not a major issue though.

Instructions for? To flash back stock recovery?
1. Download the recovery from the link provided (Make sure it's the correct recovery, correct base number etc)
2. Place the downloaded recovery .img file in the adb folder where fastboot.exe is (by default it'll be in the platform-tools folder) - Though if you did a custom recovery you're probably already familiar with this.
3. Hold shift and right click anywhere in the white area of the folder > go to "open command prompt/window here"
4. Plug usb cable into device and connect up to computer (All familiar surely if you did custom recovery)
5. Commands:
a) adb devices ... to check if device is connected, should see serial number of device.
b) adb reboot bootloader
c) fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
d) fastboot reboot
Done.
Once the device restarted you should get the prompt for the OTA update(Depending on settings of course), you can then do OTA update.
To get mainversion number for the recovery you need. Just go to software information(in settings menu > about > software information) and check for OS version number or connect device to computer, reboot into bootloader adb reboot bootloader then type fastboot getvar version-main to see main version for device.

You need to unlock the bootloader. Flash a custom recovery with fastboot. Then root.
There's links to threads on all this here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711073
If you don't understand the instructions in the threads for each, you need to read more. Not much else anyone can do.
S-off is not necessary, nice to have, but not necessary. ?
thnx
ok thanks so me thinking for some reason that because it is on android 4.4.4 that it cant be done yet isnt right?
You should be able to unlock bootloader, and once done, you're set.

Rule #1 of the forums: Search Before Posting
"You get this message" isn't the message you got.
Download TWRP from here.
Rename it to recovery.img
Place it into your fastboot folder.
Hook up to adb/fastboot.
Issue the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Reboot.
Done.
