First of all, let me congratulate everyone for this forum. It's almost thanks to you.
It's my first post here, so hello to everyone.
It's my first android device, but I have experience with flashing symbian
I've been trying to flash my phone since couple of weeks reading some threads all over the Internet, but some errors occured each time
First of all, my phone was supposed to be root. After I get it is not rooted I search for some rooting options and then a read-only error occures, but I have superSU so I guess minideal (from where I bought my phone) flash it half the way so my phone is rooted and unrooted at the same time, is that possible?
Then I explore the phone and found a folder on it called "ClockworkMod". Doesn't it supposed to be with stock Android? What is ClockworkMod?
Later my final desire is to flash my phone with stock Android, I would like my phone to be 100% clean and then root it etc.
Can someone walk me through this as a complete noobie : (
What is the best for my phone?
Thanks to all.

Firstly, let tell you, what about Clockworkmod.
Clockworkmod is a comunity of programmers who has brought and created first and for me, the best android custom recovery. Their recovery names CWM recovery, they have also created, superuser a root permisions manager and more things.
Now, talking about your phone, is great phone, I don't know which one you have but love Iocean x7 Elite (Hope buy it soon), the phone have many ways of rooting but like people (not all), don't like support it cause like much more others it comes from china , this video is in spanish but you just must watch it and reading the description below, I'm not responsible of what happens , I just try to help you

Thank you for answering me.
Let me ask you my first question:
Do my phone (any phone) have to be rooted to install custom rom?
As I already read most of the custom roms are with built in root permissions....
Must Be Rooted!

Well, in occasions some devices must not be rooted because people just need to install a custom recovery and that's it. For flashing a custom recovery you mustn't be rooted, just look for a custom recovery for your device and so of easy you could flashing a custom rom. But with root privileges you could get your phone nicer and faster you jus must use the best way and under your own risk. I hope having helped you, if you need anything else, just write me
does anybody know if there is a cwm or twm for iocean x7 hd? any suggestion for root or custom rom?thanx

Hey guys, I am a new Android user, and I need help to root my phone. I have read many threads about rooting DHD, but I am not really sure if I am certain to do it by myself. I also updated my software, it is 1.83.415.4
I am seeking help from anyone that can go through Rooting steps with me. So if you happen to have free time to help me hook up my phone, I would really be glad.
I really wanna root my device, please guys help me.
I would like to add to this question,
I sort of gathered on how to root I first download and install visionary, then temp root and then perm root and then flash a new ROM is this correct?
Another thing I plan to use Cyanogen 7 rc1,would I use all my contacts if I flash a new rom?
I've temp rooted mine but that's as far as I've got. I want to use a different ROM but don't fancy having the wolds most expensive paperweight.

Use MyBackup to backup / restore your contacts, although provided google backup is enabled it should take care of them

As long as you carefully follow the instructions, you are very unlikely to end up with a bricked device, flashing radios is the most likely stage to go wrong.
Can i recommend the CyanogenMod Wiki's root and flashing instructions

ignore if u did it.
its easy to get ur answer if u just google it,cos many sites are offering that rooting info/stuff.
Check here on how to root your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20033919&postcount=1
And don't be nervous … rooting feels like a big step the first time you have an android phone. But it's not. The longer you own the phone, the more you will learn and the more you will want to try out with it. There will be days when you will flash and completely set up about 10 different ROMs. There will be days when you will brick your phone. Those days are still rather far away for you.
No need to do anything before and after rooting. It's so small of a change that you will hardly even notice it.
Welcome to the forums, have fun and good luck with rooting!
Thanks very much to all for ur responses...
Yeah i referd XDA and rooting is easy but my request is what to do before we do root like backup or something and after rooting what the thing we shud to first like custom rom creations..something like that...

you dont have to create custom roms...............you just download and install the created roms by different devs....from the development.....and before rooting backup your current stock rom through CWM Recovery...........

is it possible to use CWM backup even phone is not rooted?

ofc it is, in recovery mode it doesn't matter if you are root or not.
And you don't have to so anything before and after rooting, it can easily be reverted and everything will stay the same.

The insecure boot flash has nothing to do with apps2sd afaik. You must flash an insecure boot.image to obtain the enviroment to get root an be able to boot the phone.
Thanks for the reply, so will doing this alter the stock ROM? ,I want to keep that for the time being.

No it will not
The easiest way to root is method 1 here. Takes less than a few mins but will not be able to receive OTA so no point in keeping stock. Android Revolution is the closest Ive tried to a Custom Rom but currently Im using Omega V3 which you might like too.
Thanks for all the help & advice, much appreciated

hello there, how' re you today?
first i want to say i'm glad to become a member of this community, im always read threads on this site
well, well, i'm here today because i have many, may questions
i'm now actually with the Nitro HD (P930) with stock ICS, a few days ago can finally root it, and installed rom manager, installed CWM, but when i reboot it on restart in recovery my phone makes this:
secure booting error cause boot certification verify
so i have to remove the battery and turn it back, i want to try it on with some custom roms and i been reading about, but dont know yet if i need to do the Unbricking Solution to do so or what
thanks in advance
oh!!! and by the way, my GF have a chinesse phone: (the star b930) so i want to know if there is anything i can do with it (install a custom recovery, install a diferent rom) the phone is already root (im sorry about the double answer it is because i dont know where i can ask with this one)
for your first question , you cant flash custom recovery on stock ics becouse boot loader is locked
for unbricking your phone and flashing cwm use this link and follow the steps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784709

Hi all,
I have a zenfone 2 that I have just rooted....so now what?
Basically I wanted to optimise my phone so I am able to disable annoying notifications which are greyed out (although since rooting and checking this it still greyed out) I want to remove bloatware and I would actually like to customise my own android system, starting from a 'vanilla' base where I can build it up myself.
I have also read that I need to install a android recovery programme on asap after rooting.
So sorry about this but I really do need 'stupid' instructions as using hi tech words will just baffle me. lol
I have played around with computers in the past and learned about them so this is the phone stage now!
Thanks in advance and for your patience with this newbie!

Hi Kerry,
First thing you should now do after rooting your device would be flashing a custom recovery that is specific to your device (make sure your devices boot loader is unlocked first). This will allow you to make a backup of everything just in case anything were to go wrong, flash custom ROMs and useful zips. You can pick your favorite custom recovery such as Team Win Recovery Projects custom recovery (TWRP), Clock Work Mods custom recovery (CWM) or Philz Touch recovery based off of CWM although personally I would recommended twrp.
There are multiple ways to do this: Using the TWRP/CWM recovery installer from the play store or the more complicated way of flashing it from your computer. If you were to choose to install TWRP from their app on the play store (grant it root permission) you can select your device from the supported device section within the app, pick the latest recovery, hit the install button and let the app work its magic. If all works correctly you can now reboot to recovery and you will see TWRP is installed. Now you should create a backup to be on the safe side and you're good to go!
To best optimize your device I would recommend installing a custom ROM (look up custom ROMs for the Zenfone 2) and install the zip through recovery. (make sure to pick the right ROM for your device and version otherwise you may soft brick your smartphone) Now with a custom ROM you can better optimize your device and fully customize it to your liking. Make sure to look up custom ROM installation instructions for your device for better detail.
As far as removing system apps/bloatware you can use a "root app delete" tool from the play store but be careful what you remove as some applications are required!
Make sure to take your time and be careful when attempting any of these things and be careful what you modify! Just remember that no question is a stupid question as we all have to start somewhere!
Hope I was able to help you even if it was just a little, good look and have fun!
Rooted Droid Thanks you so much!!! First of all thanks for being so patient with me and secondly thanks for the useful (and easy to read) information.
I will go and install a back up on my phone from the ones you have suggested.
Hopefully you will be around over the next few days if I have more questions. Not planning on doing this all at once but rather taking the time and doing it right.
Thanks so much again!! :good::good::good:

Not a problem! I'm always happy to spread some knowledge and appreciate when people do the same to me! I also went ahead and checked the TWRP app and the Zenfone 2 is supported so it looks like your good to go. And yes absolutely, there's no rush so take all the time you may need and everything will go smoothly! I'm always around and will try my best to answer questions.

Check this site out:
http://myzen.asus.com/2015/10/13/official-bootloader-unlock-for-zenfone-2-is-now-available/
All devices have a different method for unlocking bootloader (some don't even have locked bootloaders) but this is an official bootloader unlocking method for the Zenfone 2 from Asus itself. I suggest following its directions and you should be able to unlock it this way.
Ok I followed the link but now I am confused. I have version ww_2.20.40.63_201......
Apparently I need a later version. What started off with just adding an APP means me doing other things before I even get to that point (hence the confusion! lol)
I never updated the phone via OTA as I was told it would invalidate my warranty and also I have killed a phone before using that so can you walk me through please...if you have the time....or could I just check if I have it unlocked already??
I haven't even gotten to the part where I create a backup...tee hee

Hi sorry for the late reply, I'm in Canada so it was 2am when I was last talking to you so I went to bed haha. Anyway as far as unlocking the Zenfone 2's bootloader I wouldn't have experience unfortunately as I'm using a Nexus 5. The easiest way to go about this now would be to go to your device specific forum and find a way to unlock it there.
The following way to unlock the bootloader requires you have ADB installed on your PC. This is a guide for installation on Windows :
http://www.android.gs/install-android-sdk-adb-windows/
And here is a thread specific to unlocking the Zenfone 2 using adb:
http://www.xda-developers.com/asus-zenfone-2-bootloader-unlocked-without-asus/
BTW as you mentioned "updating may invalidate your warranty" things like rooting, installing a custom OS, unlocking the bootloader, installing a custom recovery and other things like that all (in most cases) void your warranty.
Sorry I can't personally help with the bootloader as I've not personally unlocked it on a Zenfone. Still feel free to ask any questions if you need to. Good luck!
