I think if you're having issu with your antenna and already try other radio, modem, etc, you should think about bring it back to the shop... have you try complete wipe/factory data and /system reset? Or you could try to completly wipe every file in your phone, until you can only boot in download mode, after this, reinstall your stock firmware, recovery and modem with Odin.
Sorry for my english, I speak french!

Hey guys. These past few days since I flashed 4.0.4 it feels like something is amiss. I have a very shaky reception and can consider myself lucky if I have tree out of four bars, and while I have three bars, I have no connection to Google sync (the bars are grey)
My father who also has Telia (carrier) on all his phones, has perfect reception all the times without signal loss, however I'm not so lucky. My SIM card doesn't seem to be the problem, so I'm suspecting radio issues. Ever since I started to flash custom ROMs, I've been using the XXLA2 radio which came with the 4.0.4 upgrade. I currently run CM9.
How can I be absolutely sure it's the radio? I'm asking, since I'd really avoid flashing radios.
I was thinking something. I suddenly remember how I don't really run a "full" XXLA2 radio. More like a patched one. When I had flashed stock 4.0.2 yakju on my previously yakjuxw device, and I chose to upgrade through a "ripped" OTA from a guide here on XDA, I noticed the OTA "patched" the radio.
Can that be the issue? That it's patched and not really the full XXLA02 radio?
Update: I reflashed the XXLA02 radio and the problem still persists, so I don't really think it's because of the radio. I'm going to consult Telia about this to see if it's because of them. Strange, though, as my father has almost full reception all the time and he also uses Telia on his three phones.

I'm on a full 4.0.4 radio and have always had issues. There comes a time when people need to just accept that the radio hardware sucks. Its always been like that for Samsung devices. I was always told on my Fascinate that a new radio would fix it...nope.

Strange. My dad has a Samsung Galaxy S2 and no problems whatsoever. Perfect reception without signal-loss or loss of connection to Google's servers.
I can't say if I had this issue while on 4.0.2

It's perfect. WiFi isn't handled by the radio, though, it's handled by the kernel. I'm going to see if this clears up by tomorrow. My carrier said they have some breakdowns, and that it was supposed to clear up by tomorrow. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

At least there's a huge chance its not your phone lol. My reception, wifi, display, battery and sound all suck. The other 4 people I know in person that have an LTE nexus have the exact same problems.

Sorry to hear that, bro. My phone's sound is a little dodgy, though, but I'm sure it's nothing a little tweak can't fix.
How about returning the phone for a warranty claim?

The issue is due to the min CPU power being to low to support the radio. If you are rooted you can raise your min CPU level to fix the problem. Anything above 500 seems to work...

I get this loud lawn mower type sound when listening to music while using data. It goes basically as loud as my headphones can go and scares the crap out of me. I hardly listen to music anymore just because of it. My wifi doesn't connect to my schools network using EAP. The top half of my display has a different tint than the bottom as well as lots of banding/burn in. I go from 4 bars 3G to 1 bar and then no data at all and not being able to send texts to having 2 bars 4G and losing that in 3 minutes...I should exchange my phone huh? Lol

I flashed back to stock 4.0.2 and I have the same issues.. and I almost never have signal even when NOT in standby.. right now I'm using bamf and CPU minimum is set to 700.. I'm thinking mine is hardware and not 4.0.4.. I bought the phone 3 days ago on 4.0.4 so I don't know how this phone was behaving before 4.0.4..
I'm just confused.. I've tried everything... was the reception issue only a problem on standby or all the time?
Anyone have any ideas for me to try?

Hey guys
I honestly give up on this phone, I live in Israel and I flashed almost every rom out there and all have poor recption and many times my freinds call me and tell me why I am not answering, after 30 minutes I get an sms telling me someone tried to call. WHAT the hell is wrong with my phone, my iphone which is on the same network never faced such a problem.
I tried to flash the israeli rom and still the same problem
Any ideas what to do as I am really irriatted by this and I missed many important calls
thanks for your help
Do a full wipe then flash the latest rom for your country.
Also try using a different phone or sim card.

did the full wipe also flash latest roms my friend but why two different phones have different reception capabilities my iPhone never misses calls even both are on the same network
This is my first post on xda. Ive searched high and low for a solution. I get very poor reception on my note despite my friends having full bars. I understand I wont get full speeds, but shouldnt I atleast get consistent enough reception to talk and text? Ive also popped in an att sim in to confirm it wasnt hardware.....consistent full bars. Ive tried t mobile roms (jedi x), modem flashes and factory resets. This is really stumping me so I would be very gratefull for any advice or suggestions.

I was plagued with weak reception, even got AT&T to send me a MicroCell as calls were dropping at home. I tried rom after rom going from Android 4.1.1 to 4.4.2 and they all had bad reception. I read about people putting wires and things in the external antenna port, but decided against that as I also read that LOTS of people damaged their phone doing that and had to replace the phone. Well, I decided to wipe the phone and normally I wipe Dalvic Cache, Cache, System and Data, then install a new rom...but this time I was going to go back to the original recovery and rom and start all over so I wiped the Internal Cache as well this time, BUT I could not find a stock recovery to install, so I went back to 4.1.1...to my surprise, once I rebooted my reception was strong! I then went back to my nandroid backups and loaded various roms...they were all strong!
Point is, make sure if you are having reception problems to wipe the phone completely (remove your SDCard if you don't want to lose what you have on that) then try reinstalling the rom and see if your reception comes back. Mine has been solid since I wiped the Internal Cache with TWRP and this is the longest I have had good reception in a long time. I am back on Android 4.4.2 and my reception is working great again!
Flash your carrier modem people....done...
And that can even mean a 2 year old modem ....but...
It "must" be the carrier you currently use....g

Im a little confused and im wondering if someone can help me out or if someone is going through the same thing i am.... :crying::crying::crying:
So i just got a Galaxy Note 2 from my fathers friend at work and i am wondering is this considered when they say being a blocked IMEI cause its a little confusing...
So I have T-Mobile and i received the Note 2 it is not rooted or anything and the IMEI matches the same in the "About Device" and in the back behind the battery so anyways i go and pop my micro sim card in and notice right away it gets no service it just has a circle with a horizontal line accross like seen on the pics and the lock screen just says "Searching".. i go into mobile networks and try to manually select the T-mobile network and it just gets stuck on "Registering to T-Mobile" then i get an error in my notifications that says "No Service Selected Network (T-Mobile) not available" so right away im assuming that the IMEI must be bad so i call T-Mobile give them the IMEI and they tell me its NOT blocked so now it gets confusing.
while i was still messing with it i decided to turn ON wi-fi and all of a sudden the wi-fi calling feature turns on and viola! the circle with the horizontal line changes to empty service bars and in the notifications dropdown it now says T-Mobile so i go on and make a call IT WORKS! send a text IT WORKS receive calls and texts ALSO WORK! now isnt that wierd?
what do you guys think might be wrong with the phone is the IMEI really blocked but if it is will i be able to make calls and send and receive texts i dont understand please some one help me any advice will be appreciated.. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks (here are pics of screen shots)

Generally, when your IMEI is blocked, you'll have bars and even data. Your phone just won't work. So I doubt it's that. The fact that WiFi calling works tells me that the SIM reader works. Do you know if the phone was taken apart? Maybe the antenna is messed up. Id just try going somewhere else to use your phone and try.
Possibly root and flash different modem?

The sim card reader does work cause sometimes out of the blues the phone will register on the network and im able to use it fully as it should and then it goes back to having the little circle with a line accross it.... today it behaved preety good it gave me a good amount of time of usage but it would still randomly cut off and come back on..... as far as being opened im starting to think it maybe was opened or something cause it doesnt have the "VOID" sticker on the screw in the back like it should..... and maybe what u said about flashing a different modem how can I check what modem I have now?? Cause the phone was rooted and had a custom rom but I restored it back to stock with Odin not sure if doing that will restore the stock modem or not.

I don't think there actually is a void sticker.. When I opened mine up, I didn't find one . I could have just over looked it possibly. Just try flashing JediM14. Comes with everything you need much better than stock. I'm thinking maybe tmobile is working on your area so you have intermittent service. Could be anything. I'll try to help you look into it. The sticky for the modem, ,facotry img and such is in android development. I think the sticky thread is in top three. It's obvious

As long as you're stock and unrooted, you might be able to get a warranty replacement. I know you're not the original owner but it really depends on the rep that you get on the phone. If you get the right rep they'll warranty it based on the fact that no matter who originally purchased the phone, there's no way it could be more than a year old. Or, if you have the premium handset protection, you should be able to get it covered under the extended warranty that it offers.

Call Tmobile and tell them your situation. They'll reset your connection to the towers and it might help. They've done that for me. Just ask for like a connection reset. Even better if you just told them what's happening.

Could be this. I bought a replacement loudspeaker that was apparently for the T889 (which it wasn't)..[Most loudspeaker modules that say they are for the T889 are missing the third contact.] It was a missing a antenna contact which totally killed my reception. Try to take it apart and look at the loudspeaker. There should be three white tab looking things on the module itself. If there's only two, then that's most likely the problem.
