[Q] Kindle Fire 8.9 HD Bricked! - 8.9" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all!
I recently rooted my KFHD 8.9 successfully. I was attempting to install CM10 when it bricked. No lights. No power. I'm not exactly sure what went wrong but the only help I've seen requires a usb short trick but I've not found any pics of how to do this on an 8.9. Looking to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

USB short trick doesn't work on a second generation kindle fire. To be more accurate it does work, but we would have to push a signed file at one point that only amazon has and isn't going to share.

Yea that's what I've been reading. Thank you

[Q] New Kindle not found on PC

I'm an idiot who accidentally dropped my Kindle glass-side down in a parking lot. I went to get it replaced but my brand of Kindle Fire happened to be discontinued and I had to shell out $50 for a Kindle Fire HD. My old Kindle had already been rooted so I knew finding a way to root an HD would be a pain. He's the thing, for a while my Kindle would connect like a media device to my Windows 7 PC but now for some reason the thing doesn't crop up at all. What is wrong with my brand new Kindle Fire HD and why can't I do something as simple as connect it to my PC via usb?
Nothing wrong really. At least I guess so. Same thing happened to my friend with Windows 7 Acer laptop and brand new perfectly working Kindle Fire 2nd gen. It was some weird problem with his Windows's drivers. I connected his kindle to my laptop where the drivers were ok, rooted it, installed recovery and android and after that the kindle started working with the PC once again-most probably that happened because according to the PC the android and the kindle are different devices or maybe it was because they use different drivers(but I highly doubt this). Either case this is a fix. Another one would be to reinstall your PC. There may be another fix that will make the drivers working once again but we tried many suggestions in the net and none worked. Hope I helped
Does your kindle actually show up in the device manager?
Sorry I didn't respond faster. It turned out to be faulty drivers. Now the problem is that the Kindle is refusing to root. I keep getting "Permission Denied" when I try to execute the root. The Kindle Fire HD has really annoying software and I can't do anything I want to do. Amazon can seriously suck my grapes! (And all the grapes in my house are rotten)

Your grapes are rotten? You should probably have that checked out.
What are you using to root your device?

A method I found on YouTube. It worked until the final part when I got constant permission denial messages.
I'd link you to it but I'm a new user and am not allowed to. But I can tell you it's the first result on YouTube when you search "how to root kindle fire hd". It's by a user named reverendkjr.
(Update: My sister has a classic Kindle so I'm trading with her)

[Q] Disable ADB

Hi all. I copied the Time Warner Cable all from my EVO over to Kindle Fire HD using Titanium backup. It works perfectly as I am able to turn off ADB. With my daughters Kindle Fire 1st Gen, I cannot seem to find a place to shut down ADB, so live TV will not steam. Any chance there is an app or something that can help me shut that down? Thanks.

[Q] Kindle Fire HD 8.9" and cricfree tv...help

When I bought my kindle fire hd 8.9" I installed the dolphin browser and also the flash player for ICS and all was well. I used to watch live sports via cricfree with no problems at all. I used to wait for the advert to count down and then close down any others without a hitch. Now when I try and access the webpage it gives me the normal home screen but if I select a channel it does not fully upload and 'freezes' causing me to have to re-boot the kindle. Something has definitely changed as all my other kindle owning friends have the same problem. Has anyone managed to overcome this and if so how ??
Any advice would be most gratefully received

Kindle Fire HD (1st Gen) - USB device not recognized (on any machine)

Hi All,
So i recently had a Kindle Fire HD repaired (USB port was replaced).
Firstly, it wouldn't connect to any WiFi spot after the repair. Tried everything, including a reset to factory defaults.
Then i realized the time and date was February 2000. That looked like a root cause (i literally tried every conventional method of solving the Wi-Fi issue). I figured the guys might have disconnected the battery when replacing the port, which could reset time and date to the year 2000. Since there is no option to change time and date on a Fire (hello Amazon), the only way was to connect it to a PC, and to try installing a time-date change app, or run the appropriate string to do it via debugging mode.
The problem is that not a single PC can see Kindle, and show "USB device not recognized" message, while all other Android devices work totally fine. The only hardware Id in Device Manager is "USB\UNKNOWN". Installing Kindle Fire drivers from Amazon manually did not help. Installing Android Studio and the relevant Android drivers via that did not help either. Obviously, i have turned ADB on in Kindle settings, and tried several different USB cables.
I can't even send a Kindle hardware report to Amazon because of that (you can imagine the amount of hours I spent with Kindle support that they asked me to send those reports to their devs after having no other ideas, which probably would not help anyway)
Do you think this is because of the new USB port? Time and date thing is really weird too. Maybe you have any ideas how i can make this work? I need Kindle to either connect to Wi-Fi, or to a PC.
Tried to connect it to both protected and unprotected networks on a variety of perfectly working routers, with a variety of security settings. Connected it via USB to Windows 10 Pro, Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 7 Professional (3 totally different machines) with no luck of detecting the Fire.
Thanks in advance!

Kindle Fire HD 7" (2012) then, which does not change the fact that it is a first generation Kindle Fire HD, nor does it change most possible ways of fixing my current issue.

doesn't change the fact that you are asking in the wrong forum
this is only for kindle fire 1 (2011)
there is a separate section for your device see
