[Q] Any custom kernel for CM11 that can disable Thermal Throttling? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi all, I've been in the KitKat craze since day one and abandoned 4.3.x ROMs as soon as possible. However, as my secondary device, GNex is used for heavy gaming (PSP emulation in particular) and therefore requires no Thermal Throttling, or else it would stutter due to occasional frequency drops. On 4.3.x ROMs, Franco kernel has the option to disable Thermal Throttling and I enjoyed my gaming. However, as I'm now on 4.4 (CM11), Franco doesn't natively support it, the modified version from @osm0sis just wouldn't boot, and Mpokang doesn't have the option. As I heard from some other users, they're able to boot @osm0sis' version of Franco with CM11, but I don't know how. If anyone successfully did that, can you tell me the procedure (I'm a flashing veteran and I know what I'm doing)? Or, if Franco isn't compatible at all, is there any CM11-compatible kernel that can disable Thermal Throttling? Thanks in advance.
Sent from Google Nexus 4 @ CM11

I'm looking into the CM11 ramdisk changes tomorrow. Stay tuned in the f.K thread for when I post a new hybrid.

Thank you for noticing this! Being able to still use Franco is the best... Waiting for results.
In the meantime I'll leave my original question open and seek alternatives.

This kernel is pulled from ParanoidAndroid. It's made by Fransisco Franco, so it's over beloved franco kernel.

Thanks for the heads-up, but I just got Franco booting and set up on my GNex which is very intriguing. I'll keep your suggestion as a back-up option though, for when Franco fails something

Any 4.3 should work on 4.4 as long as you just use The zimage , you can fastboot it by using
Sudo fastboot flash zimage zImage from whatever directory your zimage is at . or just put the image in anykernel format and flash away

But where do I get zImage for a kernel I want (e.g. Franco)? I don't see it posted somewhere... Do I need a Linux machine to decompose boot.img and take apart randisk and zImage?

Thanx man! just what i was looking for!
ICS works so much better on a 3.x kernel, ive worked on the galaxy nexus and glaxy 2 love that kernel... also the WIFI handling for the BCM4329 is wayyyyyy better.
Batt is beter, i hacked a 3.02 kernel together using a Ubuntu chroot a while back but its not a true boot kernel would just emulate features it was oh so promising....
Im going to work on this tonight thx!

[Q] What kernel for my SGS3?

Ok so Im a little new to this hole rooting and flashing stuff and I've been reading around that the Ktoonsez KT747 Kernel has amazing battery life, even if you OC. So with this being said, im currently running SlimBean 2.7 but it doesn't say anywhere if it will support this kernel. Also can't find on Ktoonsez thread either. Maybe its me im blind when it comes to finding stuff. Thanks for help! If its necessary, I wouldnt mind flashing the CM10 M2.

[FIXED] I flashed the wrong one i did the one said above instead of the one that had the att in the name of the kernel, so its flashed and booted so i will get back with you to tell you how it goes.
[WORKS] It works like a charm thanks for all of the help.
Try this kernel http://goo.im/devs/imoseyon/d2att/lk_aosp_jb_tmo-v1.4.zip
It's imoseyons kernel. He is an amazing dev. I only use this. I have used ktoonez idk why I don't use it all the time. It says this kernel is for tmo the but trust me it works the same. He is a modified version of interactive designed for the s3. I get EXTREMELY great battery life. Go over to original dev thread over in the tmobile thread and look for lean kernel.
Use the kernel I included only if your on a jelly Bean rom.
Transmitted from my GALAXYSIII running Jelly Bean. XDA premium
KT747 can be found HERE, in the Original Development forum. There are variants of the kernel that will work for several current versions of Android.

no need for flashify. It is a kernel only so it wont mess with your current ROM install. Just download and flash in recovery. It is in any kernel format so you wont see a boot img in the zip. It extracts the current boot img from your current rom, unpacks it(splits it into the kernel and ramdisk) and then repacks it with my kernel and the roms ramdisk. As with anything else, make a backup before flashing.

It is not in a BOOT image or .img format. Never was. It has always just been a regular zip file you flash in recovery. Maybe codelazarous misread the "boot" part of the title. No need for any of what you wrote at the moment.
