Thanx man! just what i was looking for!
ICS works so much better on a 3.x kernel, ive worked on the galaxy nexus and glaxy 2 love that kernel... also the WIFI handling for the BCM4329 is wayyyyyy better.
Batt is beter, i hacked a 3.02 kernel together using a Ubuntu chroot a while back but its not a true boot kernel would just emulate features it was oh so promising....
Im going to work on this tonight thx!

There is no device tree for ICS for glacier thats the main problem....
Im compiling an attempt right now...... fml it takes for ever on a 2xcore 2.18
1st attempt
the name is wrong, i changed the identifier to make it more compatible but this is a 3.x kernel
it does boot but seems like nothing works to well.....
don't try unless you really want to....
im still working on it.
just to try
adb shell
reboot bootloader
fastboot boot boot.img
I am not the kernel type of guy, but from what I can tell this is massive progress. Hope you succeed, and if you have any questions I'm here. I probably won't be able to answer them though . Also, this kernel you posted above my post works on Sense 4?

Thanks @andynroid , there are a lot of tutorials similar to this but the main part is device config for our device. Getting the device config is not easy and this is the main problem.

arco/cowitgun kernel is not a pure cm7 kernel, it requires most of the things from stock rom. it will not work for cm7 port/build.

It can work, I have port a cm7 rom some time ago with this kernel. But you a right it is not a pure kernel, but if you overlooked samsung have released the sources of gb kernel, cause of the gpl and arco have taking it into his github.
Btw I myself have done some minor working to get me a device folder for our galaxy w, which compiles okay for cm7 and aosp, but with out luck to get it started right. It stucks somewhere in an initialization.
If it had worked, I would have let you know right away.

Yeah, I also would like to have it. And I also played with AOSP, but I'm just a beginner in android development.
I would be glad if some experienced developer could assist and guide us.
Regarding the stop in the start process I have to do some deeper investigation or is here someone who could do it and examine the boot process?

Hmmm...
Wonder if we could take that ROM, change the updater-script to match our mounting points....then we just need a kernel....
Which we have one kernel already made. Not sure if it would work though.
If anyone would help set up a build environment that would work for our kernels and roms then I will gladly help and start learning.

Well, it shouldn't take too long. It may be possible to build a CM9 Kernel for our phones using parts of the stock kernel that we have access to.
Once the JB source is released, an S3 port might actually be viable. Otherwise it's essentially just flashing a gnex image and praying something/anything works.

a CM9 kernel shouldn't be needed, just a modded kernel for our specific phone from what i believe.
We know this, but it's more of an experiment. Also, it helps work out anything we may need to do early on with the modules and drivers

Why not take this ROM, change the updater-script for our mount points, remove the flashing of the boot.img, flash ROM then flash the kernel Roman release?

It could, in theory. But we would need to work on the modules for anything to work. Could you post our mount points?
why does it have to be a cm9 kernel?
to be completely honest, as soon as we get a cm9 alpha, we will see some worth while stuff! but until then. TouchWiz it iz. We will have team kang's AOKP in no time im sure. i cant wait to see wuts to come. especially since this phone is at all the major carriers and they are all basically exactly the same! should be epic.

Everyone Im taking a one to two day break on the daothaguy regulars because im downloading cm10 sources to try and build a hd2 jelly build wish me luck. if i see that i will be getting no where than on the second day ill compile a fresh cm9 build thanks for your support and patience.
My sources on my computer is messed up until I can get the surfaceflinger problem fixed compiling is on hold.
i figured out the problem why the build was not compiling for the surfaceflinger.o i deleted the line in the surface.cpp concerning the EVENT_FORCE_COMPOSITION. it was being checked forced and it wouldnt allow for it so i deleted it and it worked. so i will be uploading the new build today. Thanks for all your support. 500 downloads for my last build so there is alot who love this build especially since no one posted complaints im content
updated to build 10/22/2012
Im still here I didnt forget about all the HTC HD2 users. Im working on some new things. Just finished compiling Gingerbread CyanogenMod right now downloading jellybean source from AOSP well see how that turns out.

ok so... im able to get the kernel to compile now but im unable to get the phone to boot im not sure what im doing wrong.. but it was working fine at first then it just stops compiling after awhile.. so i redo the kernel folder from scratch...
add the governors that i want and it compiles but it does not boot now just boot loops at the Galaxy note 4 screen
also the phone tells me the Kernel is not SE android Enforced if anyone knows how to fix that i think its the issue
If anyone has any advice that would be amazing.
Any development?
L
I'm not a dev.. I've never compiled anything android related except for a couple apk's, but it's always recommended to wipe dalvik&cache when changing kernels though it's not always necessary
regarding the boot warning, most kernels I've used recently will boot in permissive (triggering that knox warning) then switch to enforcing sometime before the OS fully loads up. so if you're using parts of source from other kernels, that may be what's going on. or maybe you've set it to boot permissive but not switch back and it needs to?
also I remember reading something about a new property being necessary to change in 5.1+ for rooted devices, TX might know what that is, given he's posted many pre-rooted firmwares
im not really sure whats going on, i can get the kernel to compile but now it boot loops, I'll keep trying tho, ill try to build the stock Kernel source and slowly add each governor one by one till they are working.
