Why is there still no roms like Venom viper One or Android Revolution for the Verizon variant of the HTC One?
I think most devs are waiting for official 4.3 or maybe even 4.4 to drop on Verizon first.
Sent from my HTC's darkside.
I think venom is still working on the gsm versions and said after that he would start on the cdma variant and quite sure most is waiting for the kernel source to drop.

Today i got a message from HTC saying "Namaste! New android software version 4.2.2 for your HTC Device is here! Please upgrade for better data experience at www.htc.com (data charges apply)".
Is it true that we have now received official jellybean update from HTC ? Can anyone confirm it.
I'm on latest Leedroid rom btw.
I also found something here -
http://technosamigos.com/htc-android-4-2-jelly-bean-update-device-list-schedule/
I don't know if I can believe it. If it's true though this would mean good things for custom ROMs based on stock 4.2 becoming much more stable I would assume?

4.2.2 Jellybean isn't even on the HTC One yet, whoever sent you this was trying to scam you, so don't bother trying to update

I dont think you would get official update notifications with a custom rom. Especially nonsensical notifications about 4.2.
I remenber that with the arrival of the first ICS Rom´s, we receive a mail fron HTc congratulating us on our new terminal. Maybe it´s the same.
Take a look in settings/about phone, maybe ro.product.device is wrong in build.pro and htc is thinking you have another device (One X or something like this)
It is either a prank, or an error. DEFINITELY not an official update. Unrooted explorers also getting this message.
When I flashed cm10.1 Google congratulated me on my new galaxy nexus. Lol. I think previous posts about them thinking we have a different phone are correct.

Rumours about android 5.0 are starting to spread and I'd thought to make a discussion topic about it here.
Google says android 5.0 is more optimized than Jellybean. Thus so it can also run well on devices with 512 ram.
We havent seen that kind of android since gingerbread.
Now we all know HTC left our One V hanging regarding Jellybean, of course there are Jellybean ROM developers but it would be nice if HTC hooked us up.
Even though HTC might not roll the update for Key Lime Pie out to our One V's, I am still very curious how this version of android would run on our devices.
Let me know what you think by commenting below,

I thought 4.3 jb was gonna be announced. I'm positive though that HTC won't upgrade us at all. So custom Rom development is the only way we would get klp when google announces and finishes it.
The hero CDMA can run jb (after being dropped at eclair) so so I'm sure our phones will run 4.3 and 5 unofficially.

To be honest I'm not sure HTC would revisit old devices but like you said, there'll be unofficial ways. It's like I got my A3333 Wildfire running CM10.
When will see some custom kernels? If we have cm 10.2 ROMs thejbwe should have kernels right.

You really need to give it some time. The Verizon One is still new and locked because of yours truly. I'm just as anxious as you are but development takes time; especially with devices on VZW.

+1 very well said.
Patience is a virtue in the Android world.
I've got one in the works
EDIT: It's not gonna be anything major or groundbreaking right now, but it'll be based on cm's and have most of the cool features on m7ul custom kernels
From what I've read the international LTE kernel source is what is being used to make custom kernels for our device. I haven't seen it implemented yet, so it would be great to see a kernel with system write protection disabled.

Those kernels are for AOSP. For a sense kernel, you would probably be better off waiting for kernel source to drop from HTC

Except HTC is legally required to release the code in a timely fashion. The code will not drop until after 4.3 is out and they usually take 2-3 months to release it. It has absolutely no bearing on an exploit or root. When the DNA got the 2.04 update, HTC took about a month to release it. AOSP kernels like CM do not rely on this. Luckily, the M7 has a nice device tree so whoever is maintaining it now (I am assuming flyhalf) does not need to modify it drastically (much much unlike the DNA). So CM wise, we seem to be fine. You will not see a custom sense kernel until the source is released.

That never happens lol only for GE HTC One it was released the same day or something
As for kernel, it could be patched from international One but then it would be a hacky impllementation.. imo not good. Because most AOSP ROMs are based of a derivative of the CM One kernel, the CDMA Ones use this same kernel: maybe there are a few patches to get it working but most of it is just from the international AOSP kernels.
Thats why there are Verizon AOSP kernels and not sense kernels. No one has patched a sense kernel to work on Verizon yet (whether they can't or are simply waiting for proper source is irrelevant, however I would lean towards the latter)
i not???

Yeah...But whether they actually do it or not is another thing. "Timely" isn't actually defined very concretely.

The reason there is AOSP source even though there is no Verizon kernel source is because CM commonizes the kernels by related device families to minimize the amount of work that needs to go into it. There is one and only one kernel for all the M7 variants, with a couple options changed, etc, but it's the exact same source tree.

Hathoiught i might see one of you guys here one day.. Hopefully I get my One back from repair (having huge issues with their and my carriers services) so I can start doing stuff to it
I reckon there's not much harm in waiting, and that's better for the long run anyway
Has anyone tried flashing faux123's kernel that states it works on all carriers except Sprint?
The 4.2.2 version?

I was thinking that because it is 4GLTE (which I read was bridging the gap between CDMA and GSM...or eventually going to), it may work. We ported a kernel from the international Incredible 2 (GSM) onto the Verizon Incredible 2 (CDMA) without issues...
Just thinking out loud.

Hi,
Is there anyway to install the HTC One Google Edition Rom on my HTC One? I really don't like the HTC customization but the device itself is awesome.

There is no way to get the "Official" GPE on the Verizon HTC One because it is only intended for the GSM HTC One. But the direction that user brholt6 has pointed you in is the closest thing to a GPE HTC One as your going to get. It does require some extra things to be done first, as in S-Off, rooted, and custom recovery, but after that all you have to do is install the ROM.
I don't know your personal level of knowledge on customizing phones, but all the stuff needed is pretty straight forward and can be done following guides on this site and others.

Hello
There is an excellent 4.4 KitKat ROM based on the Google play edition HTC one.

Can anyone tell me if the htc one can run older versions of sense? I've been looking but can't find it running anything older than sense 5. I've wanted to checkout sense 4+ on the one but can't seem to find out if it's even possible.
Why would you want to? Older versions of sense was laggy and battery hogs. Why aosp based ROMs was so popular back then.

It's just for curiosity and to play around with. I liked the old versions of sense and wanted to see how they looked on the one.
You would I guess need someone to port over an older Rom in which I doubt any dev will do. So unless you are good friends with a dev or you can do it yourself the chances of seeing it done is slim to none.
