Sooooo...here's the deal:
I'm in the Houston area. There is a constant LTE signal here, that I rely on for my tablet and my pc (paying overages doesn't matter). However, after every phone call, I lose LTE, and just the 4G signal is there, but its slower than 3G. After a reboot, the LTE comes back and my speeds are restored...
I tried chatting with an ATT rep, they of course tried to blame it on "spotty coverage and tower malfunction in your area". Yeah, sure. She said the reboot is re-registering my phone and picking up a new tower. After questioning this, she then put the blame on a rogue application. After that, she then started saying that if I travel I might not have the same signal. After telling her that this happens anywhere, even when I'm at home, she said started explaining the data that I've used this month, and that I have data left to use.
EDIT: She asked me to factory reset, and give it a try. I reset my phone, went through setup, and placed a call. After the call, no internet. I rebooted, LTE service came up. When I told her what happened after she specifically requested I perform those actions, she then told me that a factory reset phone may not work for up to 15 minutes. I'm officially done.
How about you guys? Anything remotely useful to add since apparently this isn't a common issue?
Swap your device?

Call att. Go through their spiel. Then get mad cause they can't help you. Threaten to cancel your service. They well either cave immediately or transfer you to the dept that will give you what you want, which is a replacement phone. Btw, its called the customer retention department (for a reason).

Never heard of this issue, go to the att store and ask for a new sim card see if this helps.

that's what she ended up suggesting, so I'm going to the store tomorrow since I'm sure that because she suggested it, it might be one of the generic answers the customer service reps are going to give me elsewhere...if that's not working, then its probably a malfunction of the device...
thank you for the suggestions, i'm going to try changing sims first and if that doesn't work then i'll have to follow ur suggestions

it could just be a corrupted radio on his phone, i wonder if he just needs to change radios or odin the phone back to 100% stock
I knew it was normal because my other phone (GNex) does that as well...but LTE never comes back on my SGS3. I went back to stock a long time ago because although I hate the TouchWiz interface, i use the 'motions' ALOT (especially the direct call from messaging and the swipe to message/call), and even after going back to stock AND doing a factory reset it wouldn't work. Of course, I'm sure that as soon as I get into the store tomorrow its going to work like its supposed to, as always, but even though it doesn't seem like a huge deal because our phones boot up quickly, its still an inconvenience to have to reboot the phone after every phone call just to get my LTE back

What he said... At&t doesn't offer voice over LTE or VoLTE yet. It will also wait until any open data sessions have stopped before bumping back up to LTE.
PS... Don't be a **** to customer service because they can't get 30,000 people smarter than you. We all know that would be impossible.

I like that you fell for the factory reset; it really pisses me off when they tell me to do that. If it work yesterday and the day before and suddenly it doesn't work then guess what is not going to fix it, that's right, a factory reset. I know there are a lot of legitimate reasons to factory reset but they throw that out like it's nothing, as if I didn't just spend 10 hours setting up the phone just the way I wanted it. If the software is so easily corrupted then just give me my money back and I will go down the road.
That said I believe this phone is a wonderful machine but if you have a factory producing hundreds of units every hour they are bound to eventually have a defect. But every person who purchased in atrix 2 should have been given a refund and an apology.

What was so bad about the Atrix2?
This sounds like Samsung fault, hardly at&t.
It had issues addressing the SD card . It would often lose applications that you had installed, you also would not be able to access your music, pics, or videos on the SD card at random times. Everybody and their brother had a different solution for it. The biggest consensus is that it was class 6 and above causing the problem. But if that is true then motorola should have done their own beta testing and reported that. All in all the phone was a nightmare and there are forums filled to its failure. I purchase the atrix HD and it did the exact same thing.

Hello,
A bit about my Nexus: Bought it online, it's the Domoco version, unlocked, rooted and been using just fine with many custom ROMs.
So yesterday morning, I was talking on the phone with a friend without any problem. After hanging up for a few hours, when I was about to call someone else, I realized my phone didn't have any signal at all. And it has been like that until now, about 48 hours.
It happened so suddenly without any warning. The phone has never been dropped and everything else working just fine.
So here's what I have tried:
- Restart the phone (multiple times)
- Batter pull (multiple times)
- Factory reset the phone (multiple times)
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache in CWM (multiple times)
- Downloaded SetCPU and set the minimum to 700Mhz (instead of 350Mhz)
- Reflash the ROM and tried with other Custom ROMs (I tried Xenon, Xylon, PA, and Carbon ROMs)
- Reflash the Radio and tried with other Radios too (I tried UILH1, XXLH1, SC04DOMLE3 and some others ...)
- I also went to Tmobile and request a new sim card - same problem.
- I borrowed a sim card from another Tmobile customer to try it on my phone - no signal - but the sim card works just fine on his phone.
I ran out of thing to try and I dont understand what happened ... anyone has an idea or something else for me to try ?
Anyone experience this before ?
Welcome too my hell. I have a playstore one now but my first Gnex was an international one and it has this same issue. Its a PCB problem a warranty would fix. I'm near Chicago and a few people have told me there is an electrical engineer downtown that fixes stuff like this. I don't have a price but I think something like this is your only option. Mine sadly is still a battery charger:thumbdown:

I know it sounds stupid, but have you tried toggling airplane mode? I run into the occasional loss of signal when im at work [fair to weak signal in the big metal box], and a reboot is the only thing that fixes it for me. Mines a play store model.

Ah yes, I actually did try that too but forgot to mention. I tried toggle airplane mode on and off, also the 2G only mode on and off. But it didn't help with anything.
Thanks for the suggestion.

So I guess I have to look for an electrician then, cause I have this phone just a little bit over a year so warranty is a no go for me.
Thanks for the idea.
PS: anyone else has more option for me ? I just wondered if I have bricked my phone ... cause I flashed lots of diff. ROMs to try out but never gotten a bricked phone before, could this be a bricked phone ?
Bricked refers to a phone that does what a brick does: nothing. It doesn't boot, it does not light or attempt to boot, it does nothing. This is a signal issue..I have no prior experience with docomo, but this thread came up on search: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574018, maybe it'd be helpful. Have you converted it to yakju or takju and tried a google factory image?
And this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554150. If it is a circuit board, it kinda looks like s.o.l., and im sad to say that to you.
I wanted to let you know that I experienced the same issue. I bought the unlocked Docomo Galaxy Nexus, and had it working fine on T-Mobile for half a year, and then suddenly had no signal on Tuesday. Nothing I did - factory reset, battery in and out, sim card in and out - could fix it. Have you tried using different sim cards in your phone to see what works and what doesn't?
I figured out that my phone will accept AT&T, and actually does connect to T-Mobile while roaming (I used an international sim card). But, my phone will say "Cannot find mobile network" when any T-Mobile sim card is inserted.

I also have the same problem with the docomo phone. ATT Sim card works. Tried other's T-mobile sim cards and it doesn't work. I wonder if somehow the IMEI has been blocked by T-mobile.

I know others who bought their GNEX through the Play Store and those work just fine with T-mobile. I tried their sim cards in my phone and it doesn't work. I don't think T-mobile is intentionally blocking the docomo phones, because I'm getting T-mobile through roaming, when I use an international sim. My guess is they're doing something to the cell network that just somehow leaves our configuration out. Hopefully it's temporary, but who knows.
Worse case, I'll just purchase a Nexus 4, because I love 4G data for just $30/month with T-mobile. Anyone else got suggestions?

Alright, update on this and there' good news. I called Tmobile and they said my IMEI is actually Blocked. The reason, according to him, is that Tmobile usually sweep the network to clean up all "un-supported" devices, so my device is apparently one of them and therefore got blocked about 2 days ago.
So he said for this, he needs to escalate it to business support and they surely can unblock it for me, but I have to wait until Monday since they don't work on weekend. But well, that's surely a good news. phewwwwwwwwwwwwww !!!
So to all of you guys who are in the same situation, make sure you call Tmobile first before flashing crazy like I did LOL.
Thanks for all the help.
I'd love to know if you are able to get this unblocked and working as I have the same problem as of Tuesday. I was traveling and went into a TMO store, and they told me it was NOT IMEI blocked. In fact they looked at the IMEI and read the page and said 'it was not eligible for blocking'.
I called TMO to see if my phone is IMEI blocked, and through three levels of support the universal answer was no. I'm now fully confused because if it's a hardware issue, why did several people all have the same problem all on Tuesday. For those others who are having issues, can you see the TMO network but not connect to it? That's what I have, I can see TMO and AT&T but haven't been able to connect to either one since Tuesday.

I'll call up T-Mobile tomorrow and ask if they IMEI blocked my device. I had them reset my signal and give me a new SIM card, but didn't realize it could have been IMEI blocked. I'll give them a call on Monday and let you know what the result is. Maybe it won't be too late to cancel my order on that Nexus 4...
I'm quite confused. I've been told last Thursday in a TMO store and with tech support that I didn't have an IMEI block, and the same with three reps tonight. I know the Sim Card is good, and so I'm being told its a hardware issue. However, several of the same phones had the same issue on the same day, so I can't buy it's a hardware issue. Has anyone with this issue flashed a new or different radio into the phone, either before or after the service loss? I have not, running it as it came out of the box.
I just got off the phone with T-Mobile Support, and they told me the device is not blocked. The reason is that T-Mobile cannot block or unblock devices that are not registered to T-Mobile. So I'm back to square one on this.
chowabbajack - When did you first have a problem, last Tuesday? Did you prior to that do any flashing or radio changes to the phone?
We're in the same spot....

That makes me think its something to do with the radio software, because I am the same the problem overall doesn't seem as large as the number of phones I perceive were bought on the Docomo deal.
Ive been using the docomo version of the nexus as well on tmobile for almost a year and it was since last tuesday when it no longer recieved any singal. with some digging around and too many phone calls, I found that the imei number on the phone is not the same as the one under the battery. i have the generic 004999010640000 imei right now and it not sure how i got it. as i bought it unlocked.
what i have tried:
reboot, battery plug, reinsert sim, factory reset, root and flash, got a new sim card, relocked, unlocked
sim card works on other phones.
also i have called tmobile and samsung endlessly and this is what i got:
tmobile cannot unblock the imei since it is not from them.
samsung is redirecting me to their japan branch.
docomo i cannot reach.
my phone before last tuesday:
unrooted stock 4.2.1
been testing different things to see if there is any way to restore the imei
also using root explorer, i cannot find my efs folder....
I've got the same problem since last Tuesday with my GNex and T-Mobile.
Mine is not from docomo though, but the French phone provider SFR, unlocked through FDocomo apk.
Rooted phone, running 4.2.1., no changes whatsoever in the past month and it worked fine until Tuesday, so I don't think I'm responsible for having no signal.
Honestly, I am relieved to see we are quite a few to have this problem, and also very pissed at T-Mobile for causing all this. What should be the next step then? Is there any chances they fix the issue quickly? If not, I might just go to the competition. I've tried AT&T sim cards and they work fine.

I have the exact same generic IMEI number as you, which does not match the number under the battery. I'm not liking the news that you did flash and still no go. I'm a novice at this stuff so please keep us posted.
I just got my G3 and left the country. Voice and SMS work fine, but I can't get a data connetion while out of the country. It didn't work in either the UK or India.
I'm guessing there's some sort of APN issue and I have a call into TMO tech support. The original call was to do #RON#, but that didn't help.
When I swap my SIM to my trusty Nexus 5, data works, so it's something device specific.
I've read about needing to force IPv4 when roaming and I tried creating a new APN with only that changed. One thing I noticed that's different between my N5 and G3 is there is no APN setting for Roaming Protocol.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Yes. One interesting thing is that the data roaming setting seems to reset on every reboot.
I have the exact same problem. Lg g3 t mobile, been to Germany twice in last two weeks and no data. All settings on phone are correct. After many phone calls with tech support, found someone who said they seem to have growing pains with new devices and the more they get feedback and realize there is a phone specific problem they can go to lg . Very frustrating but hopefully gets ironed out soon. I also came from a nexus 5.
That's not too encouraging. I was hoping that I'd have data sometime on this trip so I can actually use my new phone! Since it's new and still in my return window, I'd like a solution before I go home to decide if I should return the phone. I travel internationally a lot and it's one of the reasons I shifted to T-mobile from AT&T.
Tech support has told me they will have some sort of reply within 72 hours so hopefully I'll head something by end of day Wednesday.

I agree totally !!! Unfortunately we are early adopters of this phone. Tech support told me flat out that it will not be fixed for me while on my trip. I travel internationally for work and not being able to use data for google navigation and train schedule apps has been very upsetting. I will post something here as soon as they get back to me as well.
I've been trying to troubleshoot the tethering and found some interesting things. Looks like in an effort to avoid people enabling tethering without using the pcweb apn, they have broken the international roaming.
I think the problem is that you cannot use an ipv4 only APN. I added a new APN which was an exact copy of the built in one (which you cannot edit) and if I change it to ipv4 only, I get no data (in the US). Data only works when setting it to ipv6 or ipv4/ipv6. I haven't tried to debug this, but I think this could be the problem since when roaming internationally I doubt ipv6 is supported.
I also travel often to Mexico, so this is a big drawback.
Same issue in Canada
I just spent about an hour on the phone with Tech Support. Very friendly, but alas, I have the same issue. A ticket was entered, and she said she would get back to me today. If the LG G3 can't go International, my local T-Mobile store is about to get my returned handset. I'll try something else, I suppose. Glad I found this out within the first week of having it, what with the 10 day return policy.
Of note, the tech support person mentioned to me that I had to create an IPv4 APN (otherwise identical to the existing fast.t-mobile.com APN, which is IPv6).
I also tried selecting IPv4/IPv6, but that didn't work either. Neither GSM nor WCDMA works.
My co-worker here is happily connected on his Samsung Note 3. Frustrating to have a newer phone with a better processor, just to have my boasting neutralized by no roaming. :crying:
If I get a resolution, other than returning home or getting a new phone, I'll post it.
I really hope this isn't the case. I'm deployed overseas right now and get service just fine on my N5. If I can't get data with my G3 when it gets here in a few days, I'm going to be pissed.
Thanks for all the ideas. It's nice to know that I'm not alone in this.
I still haven't heard back from T-mobile and it's at 72 hourse since I reported the issue. I'm on another flight tomorrow to the UK, so if I don't hear anything by the time I land, I'm going to give them another call.
If they can't get this to work or at least give me a timeline for resolution, I think I'm returning the phone and will wait for the N6 (if one exists). Hopefully I can get them to waive the $50 restocking on return since I'm returning it for not working reasons.

This is a pretty big bug, I can't believe no one tested this before launching the phone. I sold my N5 a day after I got the G3, so if I were to need my roaming while abroad I would be SOL too. Not sure if I want to return it yet, once we get a custom ROM I'm sure we'll be able to get around this.
If it were me, I'd trade out to a different phone before I left for the UK. Still within the 10 day return period, so there's no penalty, and so you have data abroad.

I'm already in India, so it's not another trip. I'm home on Sunday evening, and Monday will still be within 10 day. I didn't really need a new phone, but what sold me on the G3 was the 3Gb of RAM and bigger battery. My N5 is sluggish and the battery doesn't last all day with all the software I have installed.
I wanted to post an update. I hadn't heard anything from TMO so I called them back to check on what's going on. I'm now in the UK and still have the problem (again). They really gave me the runaround this time saying that they needed to file a new ticket since my original ticket was filed for problems in India. They also told me that enginnering had responded that there were no roaming partners in India, which is just false. I kept mentioning that other people are having this issue in other countries and mt Nexus 5 worked just fine.
At the end of the call, they did file a new ticket and escalated to some other support team to resolve. I'm really not hopeful anything will happen before I return to the US. I told them I'm flying home on Sunday and that if I didn't have resolution, I would be returning the phone upon return.
If something happens in the next day (the timeframe I was told I would get a response), I'll post another update.

That won't work for this issue. I have a TMO US SIM and my free international roaming isn't working. The phone is locked, so I can't get another SIM.
To all having this problem - I am having a similar, but different issue. I just purchased a brand new T-Mo USA G3 yesterday. I run it on a T-Mo MVNO (Roam Mobility) since I don't live in the US. Voice works fine, I can see I'm on the "Roam" LTE network (which is really just a T-Mo USA LTE network), but no data. Proper APN is inserted and the SIM gets LTE data in the same location on my Moto X.
In the meantime I unlocked the G3 fully, no change.
Finally tried changing the network to WCDMA / GSM only and...I have data.
No idea why T-Mobile is blocking LTE when not on T-Mo itself. Will try in Canada tomorrow but expecting same results as everyone else, but will be interesting to see if it runs on HSPA+.
I tried disabling LTE and creating a new APN with IPv4 and after about 15 minutes powered on, still no data. Then I tried WCDMA only and still no go.
Latest update:
Just got off the phone with support again. The engineering team came back saying this was a handset problem and there are no known issues. I just did a full reset under direction of the support guy and still nothing.
I'll be returning the phone next week when I return to the states.
The support guy also said he will be posting on the TMO message board for other people to post issues with roaming. When that comes up, please post so they understand this is a wide-spread issue.
Maybe I'll rebuy the phone after I know the issue is resolved or by then there might be something better...
Quick update - just arrived back in Canada, and pleasant surprise - full LTE data on Fido! Just had to manually add the APN.
Woke up this morning and have not been able to access the T-Mobile network. No changes have been made that should have impacted the ability to connect. Greatly apprecaite any help.
If you made no changes then it's either your phone or the TMO system.

Well first, obviously, did you try rebooting your phone? Push into Airplane Mode and back?
Second, how is it not connecting to the T-Mobile network? No data connections? Or voice calls? Not connecting to the network at all?
Did you check your APN?
Can't really offer help if there is no accurate description of the problem at hand.
And finally, if you can gain access to post on XDA, why not contact T-Mobile themselves? As I'm pretty sure they can help you far better than many of us here with this issue of network connectivity. :silly:
Just sayin'.
I have the same issue. After a few days of getting brand new phone the data connection is messed up
Thinking of returning and getting S5
Call tmobile and have them refresh you problem solved
I went back to T mobile store. They asked me to wait 3 days. Refresh didn't help

Call up 611 on the phone (if possible) and say "Clear Location", that automatically clears out your phone connections and details (not your personal data) and resets the connections with the towers/antennas. You might need to speak with a rep or tech support to get that request, but they always do it if asked.
If you can't use the phone in question, call from another phone using 1-877-453-1304 and just give them your T-Mobile phone number in question and request the same.
Clear Location updates where your phone is being used and has it renegotiate its protocols, handshakes and talk, it essentially has your phone act like when it first booted up out of the box and was activated with T-Mobile.
I don't understand how the T-Mobile store didn't just perform that request/task with you when you were there....
They did do that and it worked in the store. But problem resumed when i got home

I would try the Clear Location again, just to see if it would fix it, if it doesn't, I would ask for a device swap in store to see if it works and holds.
It might be your account provisioning, but it was working fine then didn't, so it's most likely on T-Mobile's side. You can wait it out and when and if it works again, call up and request a credit to your account for the loss of service.
It seems to be your data isn't working at all but voice is, so you can check your Mobile settings and see if the APN is set to fast.t-mobile.com with IPv6.
Im going back today and swap for new phone. Im not sure if it was always working. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't
When i first got the phone i went straight home and used wifi. I only noticed it 3 days later when i was outside. It was after that, that I started monitoring the problem
I get the 4G icons but little data coming thru
Yeah, I would try a device swap and see if that corrects the issue, since it seems the data reset isn't.
BTW, the 4G icon is for 3G+ (HSPA), which is slower than the actual LTE speeds. If you get LTE speeds, the phone will display "4G LTE."
I just swapped the phone and new phone works as it should. In the store the TMo employee had a G3 and we compared Ookla Speedtest. Mine was definitely not working like his.
I hope this new phone won't have a problem. They only waive restocking once. I was ginna swap for S5 but decided to stick w G3 for the screen

That's good to hear that you finally got it to work fine.
Also, in regards to the restocking fee, it is waived if the device is defective. They should not be charging it when the device is broken, defective or not working as it should. The restocking fee is for those who just don't like their device and want to swap out for another one.
You might have to fight with them about it a bit, but no restocking fees on defective devices.
This is going to be long but I want to make sure I give as much details as possible. I went to preorder a note 10+ 5g. Was going to do a trade in but right before I finished the order decided to go with the BOGO deal instead and add a friend to my account. I received both of the phones and had 4g issues. Most apps had trouble loading anything. If I waited with the app open eventually it would start loading things up but not all apps acted like this. They may hang some but worked ok. Speed tests showed I had a good signal. After talking with tech support on the phone and going to Verizon stores several times they still couldn't get things to act right. They switched sim and phone out in store. One of the store managers said my first order was pending and that 1 if not both of the phones I had were supposed to be in there warehouse and that I wasn't even supposed to have them. They told me the best thing to do was to return the phones and start over. They had trouble returning the phones since I wasn't even supposed to have them. What they had to do was to charge me the full amount of both phones to my account and the credit me the amount. They said after my billing cycle was over they would do it and once my account was back to normal then try to upgrade again (still ended up paying extra on my bill for that ). So I went into Verizon yesterday and did my upgrade and still had the same issue and if I wanted to return them again I'd have to pay the $50 restocking fee . So I called them AGAIN! They have a ticket out but I tried to see what I could figure out on my own. I downloaded a network switcher app and went to 3g and everything was slow but worked fine. Everything also works fine on wifi. One thing I noticed in the app when I ran a ping was that IPv4 connected but IPv6 failed. It said IPv6: fail (1). Anyone else having this issue or know what's going on or know a fix? This is very annoying!

A couple years back we had problems with my daughter not being able to send or receive text messages and after endless efforts on the phone and going to the phone store where they suggest a new phone we looked on her Verizon account and she had some restrictions on there somehow for sending text messages. Long story short look at your account with Verizon and look at every single little nitty-gritty detailed setting - there might be something on your phone line or both phone lines that disallow 4g? Have the store try a different SIM card - NOT ON YOUR ACCOUNT, BUT A DIFFERENT ACCOUNY - and if the 4G works fine on the phone with a different sim card with a different phone number and account then the problem is with the carrier account you have...

I went through everything and didn't see nothing. As soon as I returned the phones and went back to my note 8 without making changes to my account everything worked like it was supposed to again.
RE: 4G Connection Issues with Note 10+ 5G
Hello,
I had the same phone with the same issue and am on the phone with Verizon Wireless now. We found that the 5G version will not read the 4G signal like it is supposed for some reason. So if you are not in a 5G area the data will not work. I just switched to the non-5G version of the Note 10+. We found this out by switching my plan to one that did not have 5G attached and everything worked just fine until we switched it back to the plan with 5G attached.
