[Q] Sprint galaxy S3 in Ireland - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello all and greetings from the Emerald Isle.
I was over in the States a few weeks ago and bought a used Samsung Galaxy S3 on the Sprint network. I have bought phones over there before and brought them back here and they worked ok. unfortunately this time I didn't do my research and bought a Sprint locked phone that doesn't have a removable sim.
I have gone over a few threads here but most of them are over a year old, I know I cannot remove the CDMA sim (I now its not a actual sim) but I was wondering if there is a device that can be added to the mainboard to add another sim so I can use it here in Ireland.
Something along the lines of this: .ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-Dual-SIM-Card-Adapter-Converter-for-Apple-iPhone-5-5th-5C-5S-/360736763618?pt=US_Other_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item53fd962ee2
Or if that wasn't possible is it possible to swap out the mainboard for another that holds a GSM sim?
The phone cost me $200 on Craigslist and to buy it in Ireland it would work out over $500 to buy in Ireland.
Any help or thoughts will be appreciated.
Kind regards,
Sinner Boy

There was THIS project going on. But I don't think it's being worked on anymore.

Thanks for the reply, Seems i have just wasted 200 bucks :crying:

You could put it back up for sale. Then pick up am International version. The process have dropped considerably.

Unbranded Touch Pro 2

Several readers are wondering when the new HTC Touch Pro 2 will be released by carriers, and which carriers will offer it.
HTC is currently planning to ship the HTC Touch Pro 2 to European customers in late May or early June, featuring Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and the latest version of TouchFLO 3D. FCC recently revealed that HTC is also planning to offer an unlocked version of the HTC Touch Pro 2 supporting AT&T's 3G network this summer.
I have also included the link. http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/10233.html
that's great news!!! I'm really thinking of buying an unlocked one, but only as long as it supports AT&T's 3G network. the only thing holding me back is that if I do buy an unlocked one I won't have any insurance or warranty on it. wait, does anyone know if any form of insurance or warranty is offered if you buy an unlocked version of a phone?? (sorry I've never bought an unlocked phone before) cos it's getting pretty hard to wait for fall to come so I can buy the subsidized TP2. and plus, by then AT&T will most likely have messed around with the hardware and appearance of the phone.

Im in the same boat. I prefer an unlocked (untampered with) phone, but worried about the lack of Warranty
I have bought a Tytn, Tytn II and a Touch Pro direct from HTC, certainly in the UK their warranty is good, its longer than a year certainly (I think 2 but dont quote me). I will be getting the Touch Pro II direct from HTC again, Im bored of being held to ransom by the operators.
i know that if we buy an unbranded TP2, it will more than likely come with a 1 year manufacturers warranty. that sets me at some sense of ease. but does anyone know if an unlocked TP2 will support U.S. AT&T's 3G bands? i've been hearing 2 different answers: some say it will some say it wont. can anyone supply some evidence? i'm trying to compile all the evidence and reasoning i can so i can make my final decision as to buying it unbranded or just waiting for a subsidized version that i know will work with AT&T's 3G bands here in the U.S.
also, does anyone know if HTC will sell it for less or more than those sites like expansys and such?
If they release an unlocked one directly to the US, I am sure it will support either both AT&T and T-Mobile, or they will have 2 separate ones that support either.

I got one of two HTC Tilt2 (same t7373 number) from the same link. But it was for an AT&T upgrade so it wasnt open to any carrier when i got it. It has the G-Sensor. Im guessing the G-sensor is a standard for this phone.
(oh, i got mine for 1 penny with upgrade compared to att wanting to charge 199 for an "upgrade"... lol)
yea you bought it for one penny because its for at&t, I bought it for $239

yep, mu3,. but still, you got a great deal on yours! especially for an unlocked phone where you can use for any carrier with sim card. I think i am going the route you have taken for my next phone buddy.

Are the screens the same for all GNexus'?

I bought a Sprint Galaxy Nexus a while ago because it was cheap and I needed an mp3 player (bad esn with sprint). Now I'm going on vacation and need an unlocked phone. I have a SGH T999 Galaxy S3 with T Mobile that is on 4.3 and apparently I'm not going to get it unlocked (I haven't spoken with TMo, but from what I can gather, it isn't likely to work). I was wondering if I could switch the LCD/digitizer from the Sprint G Nexus with one I purchase from ebay with a busted screen but is GSM unlocked (seems like the cheapest route, since I already have the phone). Is this possible, or should I just buy some cheapo unlocked phone for travel?
thanks in advance for read and replying =)
They have both the 4.65 in HD Super AMOLED with RGBG-Matrix (PenTile).
I have only the GSM unlocked version but searching on Internet I can't find differences on their screen.
I think it should fit.

Dubai note 7 recall?? HELP

Alright... So basically... I was on holidays in Dubai over the last few weeks. And, over there, I was lucky enough to buy a note 7 SM-N930FD, from an official Samsung store. I had bought the phone on the 28th of august.. before the recall. Now I'm back home, in the UK, reading about the note 7 recall and have absolutely no idea how to proceed. I don't want to send my note 7 back to Dubai because I'll have no phone in the meantime and it just seems like a lengthy process. Is there a way that I can maybe get my device exchanged here in the UK? Or what are my other options?

Samsung UK are being pressed to replace the handsets with local variants. If you don't mind a UK variant you should have no problems. (Initially Samsung refused to swap at all!)
A few have said that Samsung service providers are exploring swapping out for the same model but I can't see that working. Most companies of the world only swap out a device for the local variant available in the country you're doing the exchange.
contact Samsung is your best bet......
accept the local variant, thats all
The fastest way is to directly contact a Samsung
Its easy tho, I purchased note 7 from Kuwait now I am in India (my home country). Here, Samsung delayed sale of note 7 that means till now no official launch of note 7 nor they have started any recall (obvious, they haven't sell single note 7 here). Now my question is how should I go for replacement? Help

Thanks, fortunately one of my friend went Kuwait today so I send my phone with him. :victory:
Got a call from Samsung UK. Basically stated they can swap the dual sim phone for the one sold in europe so single sim - coral blue or black.
Asked about getting the dual sim as replacement and they said I would have to sort it out with the region the phone is bought from - so Qatar in my case.
Might just get the UK version with its two year warranty

Question Anyone got an A52s 5G in the US on Verizon?

I have a friend who's travelling to the UK in a couple of weeks and she's looking to pick up a new phone.
Used phones here seem to be substantially cheaper then they are Stateside and an A52s can be got here as cheap as £200 ($270) if you're patient and shop around.
However, her service plan is on Verizon and she wants to stay with them, I know Verizon use CDMA but the move to 5G seems to be changing the compatibility matrix somewhat.
She lives in NJ so has anyone used a European A52s in the US and is coverage/compatibility an issue?
Thanks in advance.
