I was triying to update my nexus 7 and i tried to flash it with the adb sideload method, it says " error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 7) installation aborted" in stock recovey and "error executing updater binary in zip" in twrp also in twrp says that md5 archive wasn't found, in both when they're about to finish gives that error, now the tablet doesn't boot but i can enter in the fastboot and change the recovery and i'm downloading the .zip again to try again.

Even if it doesn't boot, you can probably still save your data using the factory image "nowipe" option:

Since you have fastboot already unlocked, you should NOT lose any data if you use the NOWIPE option.

I just flashed my phone to use the EG31 packed .tar file system, and I flashed the CWM 5 release that was also repacked with the EG31 kernel.
However, when I go to flash the included .zip for SU in that post, I get this error:
Code:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.7
--Installing: /sd/card/Superuser-3.0.6-efgh-signed.zip
Finding update package...

Mounting SYSTEM...
Deleting SYSTEM:bin/su...
E: Error in /sdcard/Superuser-3.0.6-efgh-signed.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted.
I am not sure what I am doing, I have flashed the tar'ed package twice, and tried flashing the CWM recovery twice, tried installing superuser from the internal sd card, and the external sd card, both fail, only difference in the error is the file path.
I am not sure why it is failing, this is the same method I used when I originally rooted my system, and from the looks of it, nothing should have disallowed root access.
Has anyone else experienced problems? If so, how did you fix it? Could anyone recommend me a way to gain root access again?
Try rebooting your phone them flash the su zip, Also when you get installation aborted immediately try flashing it again. I get that too, but on second try it works. Maybe it'll work for you too.

Boot into ClockworkMod, and select the option "Install zip from SDCard", and under that menu you will see the option "Toggle signature verification". Completely different phone but had the same issue

I'm unable to install the 1.28.401.9 OTA update and was wondering if anyone else has the same issue - or whether I'm missing something obvious.
My 1X is unlocked and rooted but still running stock.
On completion of the OTA download I select to install and it boots into CWM Recovery with "Installation Aborted" at the bottom and
"E: Unknown volume for path [PATH] E: Can't mount INTERNALSDCARDownload..." etc.
So I select 'Install from SD card'>'choose zip...'> then go to Downloads and select the update file and get:
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
So I disable signature verification, try again and get:
assert failed: check_cid(getprop("ro.cid")...
Then a string of 8 digit numbers and alphanumeric codes and finally
E: Error in /sdcard/Download...[PATH]
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
Anyone have any ideas why it's not working?
same problem......
Me too
Kevin & Orel - just to be sure, can you confirm that you are rooted and running stock as well please?
Yep unlocked and rooted, but running stock. Once in CWM Recovery I see the same errors as you.

tested stock recovery, but nothing happens ....
if I try to flash the uptade I receive an error message.
Appears when I have the stock recovery, I can not access the recovery to flash, I have a black page with a phone 3 green arrow and then a red box ...
And people told me I was silly to tell people NOT TO TRY AND RUN AN OTA ON A ROOTED PHONE!!!
Seriously, guys. Historically it's been nothing but problematic trying to apply an OTA to a rooted phone. If you want it THAT bad go custom

You need stock recovery to apply OTA...
You dont flash it yourself from recovery!!!
The update program does that
i just flash .zip stock ...

+1 that
1. Download the OTA using the handset
2. Flash stock recovery (there's a download link in the CWM thread iirc)
3. Reboot
4. Go to Settings -> About -> Software Updates -> Check now
Assuming you already downloaded it, you'll be prompted to install it
5. Once the OTA update runs (it reboots twice) reboot into fastboot mode and reflash CWM
CWM can't flash the OTA and I personally didn't have to relock my device (It's not an RUU update)
Flash RUU DONT root and try again...
Once updated root again

That is because you have twrp set to simulate actions rather than perform them. You need to adb push a rom zip to your sdcard, uncheck the box in settings that says simulate most actions, do a full wipe minus the sdcard and flash the rom zip.

Why are you trying to flash update.zip sometimes an error is telling you there is something wrong with what you're attempting to flash.

now i have no os on kindle ! so iwant to install stock rom on kindlefire from trwp recovery .. how i can ?
First let me say this STOP!!! That method for returning to stock is okay for the first gen device not the second gen. No wonder it keeps failing and probably better that it has. Keep the device charging in recovery or off till I can help you fix this without seriously bricking your kindle. You need to adb push Hashcodes flashable stock zip only not update.zip. Unless you don't care and you happen to need an extra paperweight .
I have an issue that I cannot for the life of me fix. Last night my wife’s phone received the OTA update and her phone would not restart after that. Total B.S. move on ASUS’s part not to pull that update knowing the issues people were having. But anyways, here’s the rundown. I can boot into bootloader mode but I cannot get into stock recovery. I can, through a certain method get into CWM recovery and I can see the external SD, but I get errors when I try to flash an update or another entire OS. I’ve tried to bypass signature verification also and still cannot get anything to install. ADB will not sideload because it does not find my device, but the method of getting into CWM recovery is done through ADB so I’m confused there. Never have I had such a tough time restoring a bricked device. Samsung, no problem. Huawei, no problem. This POS I’m about ready to throw in the pool and call it a day. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The only way I can flash is through the CMW recovery and everything I try to flash says cant install this package over newer build. But there's nothing on the device as far as I can tell. Also says E: Error in /external_sd status 7

Open ROM archive with app (for example WinRAR),
navigate to META-INF\com\google\android
unpack updater-script
open unpacked updater-script with any text editor (I use Notepad++)
remove first line with "(!less_than_int..."
save file
put unpacked file back in archive overwriting it
put rom package on sdcard
flash it via recovery
btw, Updating IFWI takes a 10 or more minutes so wait and don't panic
I'll try that when I get home

Still doesnt work. E: error in external sd blah blah blah, same as everything else.
@MikeyLee I had the same problem this morning, i spent a lot of time to fix this, i couldn't access the recovery, i tried to flash thetered recovery and do factory reset, flash again the rom, but nothing.
To fix the bootloop i just rebooted in fastboot mode, launced the adb from pc and format cache partition, thats all.
And the strange thing is that i didn't loose the data, Although I did the factory reset, that's mean maybe a corrupted cache partition that maked impossible to flash anything or do factory reset.

Use the adb fastboot, command "fastboot erase cache"

You need the stock recovery as the same version of the firmware you're sideloading, flash the recovery through fastboot.
I was finally able to restore everything. Stock recovery, OS etc… Here’s what I did.
Using ADB and following the procedures here http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/how-to-upgrade-cn-version-to-ww-t3101556 and using fastboot, flashed the recovery.img, boot.img and droidboot.img in that order. That gave me stock recovery back. Then I sideloaded with ADB the latest FULL firmware from here https://www.asus.com/support/Download/39/1/0/13/Lk0Sg1Ulh0Ph49Hl/32/
It was the only version that did not error out in some form or another. Everything is back to normal.
Im stuck!!
I was rooted with Magisk on crosshatch QP1A.190711.020.C3, Sep 2019.
I just tried option #4 keep data and am getting the below (also attached pic) after getting to fastbootd screen during flash:
sending product FAILED (Write to device failed (Invalid argument))
When I try to reboot, it only boots to bootloader. I then tried wiping data same thing. I then tried reverting to the previous .C3 Sep 2019 firmare and again, same thing.
Im currently on slot B and as far as im aware, I havent done anything to slot A. However, in the bootloader screen at the bottom, I see:
Enter reason: no valid slot to boot
Before I try flashing anything else, Id like to try to boot to Slot A and see if I can at least have a usable phone for work tomorrow. Is it possible to boot to slot A from the bootloader screen?
If not, what else can I do?
Thanks in advance!!!!

Yup, im on 29.0.4

Huuu... Had the same problem. You should try again flash.all from pc. You wait until the i/o error apears. Then you are in fastboot.d mode. From here you choose sideload ota from pc (or simular). Now you are able to execute the adb sideload command from your pc. Then wait and reboot. This saved my ass... Make sure you downloaded the full ota image before.
OK I did the regular flash-all as you said and got error. At this point, the CLI says press "any key to exit"
I then exited, selected recovery - apply ADB update - opened CLI - adb devices (saw my serial #) and then entered "adb sideload image-crosshatch-qp1a.191005.007.zip"
And now after im getting:
verifying update package....
E: footer is wrong
Update package verification took .2 s (result 1)
E: signature verifcation failure
E: error: 21
Install from ADB completed with status 2
Installation aborted
EDIT: Im an idiot, I tried to sideload the factory image. Im sideloading the OTA now. Looks like its working. Standby

Tried several ways to get into recovery (fastboot.d) to sideload the ota after the i/o error... After a hour i got the trick (3. try to begin with flash-all.sh...). Somehow i always got trouble with system space when monthly update is downloaded automatically and can't get applied because i am rooted... Somehow it seems saver to install the full ota with sideload than the flash-all.sh procedure... Glad it also worked on your side.
