That is because you have twrp set to simulate actions rather than perform them. You need to adb push a rom zip to your sdcard, uncheck the box in settings that says simulate most actions, do a full wipe minus the sdcard and flash the rom zip.

Why are you trying to flash update.zip sometimes an error is telling you there is something wrong with what you're attempting to flash.

now i have no os on kindle ! so iwant to install stock rom on kindlefire from trwp recovery .. how i can ?
First let me say this STOP!!! That method for returning to stock is okay for the first gen device not the second gen. No wonder it keeps failing and probably better that it has. Keep the device charging in recovery or off till I can help you fix this without seriously bricking your kindle. You need to adb push Hashcodes flashable stock zip only not update.zip. Unless you don't care and you happen to need an extra paperweight .

I really, REALLY have tried going through the threads and tried to figure this out on my own but I'm just stuck. A while back I got stuck in the boot loop (I guess). It was after a few factory resets. It had been rooted. Now, I can get into twrp but once there I can't seem to find any of the files that I need to flash to get it going again. When I launch the KFU it says the device is "online" and device manager reads "Android Composite ADB Interface". I'm sorry if this isn't enough info but can someone give me a push in the right direction? :silly:
Still vague bro but hey you have twrp do you have fff? If you have those things select mount in twrp transfer ROM zip and a gapps zip to your sdcard but don't place them inside a folder... leave them in the open this is considered the root of your sdcard then select unmount go to install see if you can navigate to the files you put on the kindle if so select wipe, wipe factory reset, wipe cache wipe dalvik, wipe system, select install tap on the ROM zip flash it when done use the back button upper right... flash gapps then select reboot and system if prompted let it boot.. I suggest this ROM or a cm7 flavored variety.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778010
fff is the kindle logo with the blue (fire) lettering, right? v1.4a in the upper right corner. Let's me go into normal, recovery and reset boot mode? The only option that let's me make any progress is the recovery option and that loads me into twrp. The "mount" option in twrp gives me 4 choices, mount system, mount data, unmount cache, and unmount sdCard. Mount system and mount data are unchecked. And if I click the "mount usb storage" button it takes me to a screen that says "USB Storage Mounted -- Be sure to safely remove your device from your computer before unmounting!" and there's an "unmount" button underneath. That's all I'm seeing. I'm not trying to be vague. I just don't know what specifically is the relevant info to give. But thanks for helping out those who can't help themselves
Ok plug to your computer select mount make sure there are no checks in the boxes of data and system then hit the big button this will mount your sdcard transfer zips select unmount follow my instructions above...
hey man, it worked!:victory: But I'm sure you knew it would. So, is it a bad idea or is it even possible at this point to revert to the factory reset? You know, have it be totally stock? And is it just tricky or dangerous to do factory resets a few times? I like using just the stock kindle version. The kindle app is just a little funky. Or it was the last time I used it. But obviously I love the google suite. I hadn't made a back-up the last time because it was just as easy to download a few of the things at a time from the cloud. So, making a back up would be a good habit and help in a situation like this? Do you know of any good threads re: backups? And superuser is something I don't know anything about but how does it work and where should I learn more about that? Mega MEGA thanks again dude! :highfive:
Yeah if you want the best of both worlds go with rooted stock all the wipes I suggested after backing up first then flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916 the standard version not the altrom thats for dualboot your miles from that
What's the process to get to rooted stock? I just made a back up

just put this on your sdcard wipe every thing but your external storage and flash it http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/dow...gned-MD5-569fe6550cfcfba68dabc3d088324a46.zip your external storage is your sd card you dont wanna wipe that
its nothing but rooted stock with playstore and it wont wipe out your recovery and fff in the process
when installing the modaco custom rom, what boxes do I want to have checked? Zip file sig is checked by default and Force MD5 check on all zips is unchecked. Good?

thanks again for all your help thePooch. I've tried installing the rom a couple of times and it either freezes or I've got the following message.

do I need to just stay with the cm10 rom at this point? what other kind of fun stuff can I do to get this working:fingers-crossed:
I believe Thepooch told you earlier NOT to download the altrom. Check your download and try again.
no doubt. Funny how this stuff works the way that it's supposed to

Thanks soupmagnet yes the altrom version will fail everytime because it needs extra partitions to work which do not and very likely will not ever exist on your device.... Intructions well it helps if they are read I gave very clear ones and I definatly said not to use the altrom........

I have been trying to reroot my Kindle Fire for some time now but recently when I try to run KFU it gets to the point where it installs TWRP but gets stuck in there trying to remove the root checker. The only way I can go back and actually use the kindle is by flashing the update.zip from the amazon website. Any help?
Were you actually successful in getting TWRP installed? Have you tried to access it?

It boots into TWRP while its rooting the Kindle. The problem is that it stays there and doesn't continue. TWRP is also missing some options and some text. I have to flash the update to gt out of TWRP

Download this and push it to your sdcard
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1286034&d=1346085105
It is a flashable version of TWRP that can be installed in recovery (this is to fix any potential bad installation of TWRP).
Reboot and access TWRP again.
Once in TWRP, enter the following code to remove the root check:
Code:
adb shell mv /system/bin/check_rooted /system/bin/check_rooted.bak
If you get an error message that says:
Code:
mv: can't rename '/system/bin/check_rooted': No such file or directory
You have nothing to worry about. It just means the "check_rooted" file does not exist.
While in TWRP, you can do whatever else you need to do to root your device or just flash a ROM (they're pre-rooted). If you do flash a ROM, be sure to wipe "system" and "factory reset" first. Otherwise you're looking at possibly needing a factory cable (or firekit) to fix the problem.
Hello,
i have a problem with installing CM10 on my xperia s.
Bootloader was unlocked, i used Advanced stock kernel before.
What i did:
flashed the boot.img via fastboot
go into CMW Recovery, i wasnt able to mount the sdcard so i used adb sideload. seems to work, after i had reached 100% CWM started to installing the update.
CMW Log:
Sideload started...
Now Send the package you want to apply
to the device with "adb-sideload <filename>"...
restarting adb...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update

and after the progressbar ist filled to 75%, it suddenly aborts and i am back in the CMW menu, when i try to boot, the cyanmod logo appers but the phone seems to stuck.
What did i do wrong? I am reading post and searching for it nearly 1 hour but i cant find a solution.
greetings
K_G
ps. sorry for my bad english
Don't sideload the file? Just push it and then install zip from sd card, first wipe everything.
I see you can't push it so you might need to install stock, put the file on the sd card and then install it like that.

so tryed ist again via sideload ^^, wipe, still dont get the message but it works! i dont know why.
But i tryed to install the Cybershot Camera mod, seems this mod didnt works with cm10. System doesnt boots anymore, do i have to reflash the boot.img and the rom zip, or only the rom zip or is it possible to rescue the system.
I was to lazy to make a backup :crying:.
btw. how is the proper command to push? "adb push xyz123.zip" ?

looks like you have a soft-brick.
Download a Official-Rom, move the Update into the DLOAD-Folder,
go into the original Recovery and let it flash the file.
After this your phone should be starting normally.

I use ROOT WIZARD method....
This happened to me yesterday as well, I was about to restore apps using TB but the phone frooze and then anything made it boot. I don't know how Exactly I solved it but all I did was:
1.- Flash TWRP v3.01
2.- Wipe all the phone, including system, data, cust and internal sd
3.- From within TWRP flashed STock boot and recovery for 118CN FW.
4.- Placed 118CN UPDATE.APP in external sd/dload
5.- from within TWRP still, rebooted the phone to recovery.
6.- The phone started to flash the update from external SD.
7.- It succeded to flash files but couldn't mount /sdcard so I repeated steps above once more
8.- from stock recovery wipe/factory reset
9.- Tried the update again and voila! Phone succeded and booted just fine... Now it's been running with no issues since 2 days
I was running 118CN FW and a test kernel with some "non tested" or unstable features which I think forced the phone to frooze and then the data corruption...

huawei
hi thanks how do you flash with trwp? cause i am not that expert please cant use my phone

You must do it through adb.
ahhhh..
sry
but i can't even install a rom by using the adb sideload command..it fails because of "file_getprop: failed to stat "/system/build.prop": No such file or directory"
what can i do now?
tried to reload the B510..
should i try with a custom ROM?

Flash through adb stock recovery. Extract your sdcard, create on it dload folder using your PC/Laptop. In dload folder put the update.app of the ROM you want and insert back in the device the sdcard. Press volume up + volume down + power button until the HUAWEI logo appears, after that release all the buttons and the phone will start to update the firmware.
Thanks beyond..
Got it finally again..
But it was very tricky..
Had to usw the b507 by reyncla (thanks for sharing)..
I let this for now in my phone..
I tried the Method you mentioned..but i could not reach the phone by ADB directly (in twrp via ADB sideload it worked finally)..
Thanks for answering..maybe i switch sometime back to the b510 or to the official release (when it comes)..

Hi,
Probably after select something wrong in TouchRecoveryInstaller-v1_01 i cant start my phone any more.
- PC don't recognize usb via cable
- sd card not detected (apply update from external storage) appears ../ (E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file of directory).
- wipe data/factory rese - does not help.
- reboot system now - blocks on logo HUAWEI Ascend
Each expert suggestion and idea is welcome and thank you.
I have an issue that I cannot for the life of me fix. Last night my wife’s phone received the OTA update and her phone would not restart after that. Total B.S. move on ASUS’s part not to pull that update knowing the issues people were having. But anyways, here’s the rundown. I can boot into bootloader mode but I cannot get into stock recovery. I can, through a certain method get into CWM recovery and I can see the external SD, but I get errors when I try to flash an update or another entire OS. I’ve tried to bypass signature verification also and still cannot get anything to install. ADB will not sideload because it does not find my device, but the method of getting into CWM recovery is done through ADB so I’m confused there. Never have I had such a tough time restoring a bricked device. Samsung, no problem. Huawei, no problem. This POS I’m about ready to throw in the pool and call it a day. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Try flashing CN version and dont forget to disable zip signature and format everything before flashing

@MikeyLee I had the same problem this morning, i spent a lot of time to fix this, i couldn't access the recovery, i tried to flash thetered recovery and do factory reset, flash again the rom, but nothing.
To fix the bootloop i just rebooted in fastboot mode, launced the adb from pc and format cache partition, thats all.
And the strange thing is that i didn't loose the data, Although I did the factory reset, that's mean maybe a corrupted cache partition that maked impossible to flash anything or do factory reset.

I've wiped cache multiple times. What steps did you go through?
Use the adb fastboot, command "fastboot erase cache"
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using Tapatalk
You need the stock recovery as the same version of the firmware you're sideloading, flash the recovery through fastboot.
I was finally able to restore everything. Stock recovery, OS etc… Here’s what I did.
Using ADB and following the procedures here http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/how-to-upgrade-cn-version-to-ww-t3101556 and using fastboot, flashed the recovery.img, boot.img and droidboot.img in that order. That gave me stock recovery back. Then I sideloaded with ADB the latest FULL firmware from here https://www.asus.com/support/Download/39/1/0/13/Lk0Sg1Ulh0Ph49Hl/32/
It was the only version that did not error out in some form or another. Everything is back to normal.
