My customized Nexus 7 - Nexus 7 (2013) Themes and Apps

I just wanted to share what I've done with my Nexus.
The video was made using SCR: https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Iwo Banas&hl=en
I've modified the Google Play edition S4/One's bootanimation (logo and .zip available at the bottom)
I'm using Light Grid Pro for my wallpaper. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joko.lightgridpro&hl=en
Here's the theme share link:http://com.joko.lgt/5c0j7e7408p34cga085lq34q1k00s7gf0c8004hs2cu1a1ou6chhpvnv (import function kinda works, you might have to try a few times)
The Android blue color is #33b8e4 by the way.
I'm using Xperia Launcher 2.0.5b (2.0.6 must be the same): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2103403
It is limited to only 4 dock items but is otherwise highly customizable, rock solid and filled with features nice touches I can't find anywhere else.
I love the Xperia launcher Weather widget (it's nicely animated) and I've been using the MIUI weather app, also fully animated: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsInByby5idXJnZXJ6LndlYXRoZXIiXQ
I'm using the Xperia Album (5.2.A.0.6) and Walkman (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39451002) apps . Both work partially/crash sometimes because 4.3 Xperia is not out yet, but they do look good.
Finally, I'm using Viral for floating videos: https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Mata and GoogleEars/SoundSearch 1.17 which works in Canada even though we don't have Google Music yet (can't find where I got the apk though)
Of course it's all based on TheMrcool212's excellent PA 3.99 RC2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446576
Don't hesitate to suggest other interesting alternatives. Of course I take no credit for all the wonderful apps/mods I'm mentioning here.

320 views and no replies. Some cool mods you got man. I guess everyone is only caring about the kitkat release threads. Been using viral for a while here too. It dont look as nice as the offical youtube but i like the floating video feature.

No offense, and I don't mean it in a bad way but I think is mostly because there's already a thread for us to show our Nexus 7 themes. That's my thought, I could be wrong.

Live Wallpapers that don't lag

I know a lot of people think they're useless but, for me, it's a guilty pleasure of sorts - i find them to be irresistible and it's one thing that makes iphone fanboys seethe with envy.
Unfortunately not all of them are optimized to run smooth on our devices - i've only found two so far which do.
EDIT: Updated list:
1. Phase beam
2. Digital Rain
3. Solar Winds
4. Luna Stream
5. Black hole
6. Pixel Rain
7. Sparkies
8. Mystic Halo
9. Crazy Colors
10. Rays of light
11. Vortex Galaxy
12. Nexus revamped
13. Aquarium free
14. Matrix LWP
Help me expand the list!
Galaxy from aosp also does not lag.
Solar winds and Luna stream work well.
Just like you, I want a good and sexy lwp that doesn't lag and one that uses minimal battery.....not sure if there are many more that meet that criteria
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
If you use nova launcher, you will find that most lwp doesnt lag. The stock launcher lags alot using almost every lwp. The org nexus lwp from the nexus one is still my fav. You can download nexus kang lwp from the market and customize it as you like.

Maybe I'm just not sensitive to it, but I don't notice any lag on the Beautiful Weather LWP by Levelup Studio (The Beautiful Widgets people), plus it looks amazing on this screen

Thanks for the list! I too have been looking for LWP's that run smoothly. One question, can you post a screen shot of the "Galaxy" wallpaper? Is this the same Galaxy wallpaper from Gingerbread?
I have a Galaxy Nexus and I don't see any live wallpaper called "Galaxy".
If it is the same one from Gingerbread (and Froyo for that matter), could someone post the updated apk for the Galaxy Nexus. Thanks!

it's actually 'galaxy4', or 'black hole'.
Some great suggestions so far. Pixel Rain and Sparkies don't lag too.
As pointed out by many, there's a definite pattern here - LWP's with static backgrounds (i.e which don't move with the homescreen) don't lag

Thanks for the reply.... so in that case what is the difference between #3 and #6?
I have #6, aka Black Hole. What I don't have is "Galaxy".

That is a warez site and although they are free... you might get banned for posting those links. FYI.
I've been using Digital Rain. Black Background and matches ICS well.

thanks for the heads-up. didn't realize it was a warez site, just searched for galaxy4.
Link removed from the main post.
Agree with the black but most if not all the the LWPs that don't lag are on a static black background. Getting a bit samey, though i'm digging rays of light at the moment
I really wish galaxy pack and galactic core ran smoothly on the GN - those are just made for this 'galaxy' nexus.

good point. fixed.
I see more than one "black hole" listed in the market. Which one? Also, I use Nexus Wallpaper Revamped, and it works well (though I don't tax it).
Sorry, didn't see that it was already listed in the OP

Sabsa Prime 6.0

Hi there,
First place I would like to thank the developer for the time and effort building up this amazing Rom. Everything is working pretty well and smooth. Only thing is about camera that needs to be resized (think that u already pointed that out in the changelog). Also, the keypad in the lockscreen and calculator need to be resized.
Another thing is about the style of the icons when u do long press in the home button (to kill recently opened apps). Is it possible to have it like in the stock ICS?
I'm uploading some screenshots to show exactly what I mean.
Thanks again for the amazing Rom and hope u have time to keep the good work going
Regards
Btw, didn't post at the rom's tread cuz I still don't have permission for that

About calculator you Don't need to be re-sized because the style of the calculator itself is Default.
I know It looks like the numbers are too big but its the HTC default calculator (It was there on gingerbread too with big numbers).
I would recommend you to use RealCalc. It my Best calculator. I loved it so much that I had to purchased the Pro version.

[REQUEST] MIUI Power Control Widget

I was wondering if someone could port the MIUI Power Control Widget to AOSP or Stock Samsung Roms.
I think it looks really good. It has got the same function as the AOSP toggles but if you click the 3 dots, a bigger menu opens (see screens attached).
Thanks in advance!
Don't shoot me for asking again, but does anybody know of this or of some kind of alternative that looks this clean?

I've been asking this for a while in different forums but it seem to fall on deaf ears. I would like to see it replace the stock power control widget that you seem to get in all roms as the miui one look soo much nicer.
use mihome app from market, its only working with miui launcher
here is the link
this app is already included in my ROM
check the signature

thanks mate but all I would like is the some help on how to extract the widget from mihome launcher app and add it to miui roms as I use the full Miui v5 for my phones. thanks anyway
but if you know what and how I am very willing to learn. :fingers-crossed:
Ya know, i have never even seen that get brought up before. It is a beautiful widget and would be great if someone can port it. Im not too sure if it is possible though because it may require the miui framework which has quite a few changes from aosp. If your interested, I have a section in my thread (link in sig) that has all (at least to my knowledge) MIUI ports to date.

hey thanks mate will have a read I'm currently using miui v5 from HERE
it's the unofficial miui v5 so as far as my thick skull knows with it's less than average knowledge of these things it should be compatible/work.
would I be right in thinking that getting the right xml files and graphics from the mihome launcher app and putting them into the rom somewhere e.g. framework-res.apk, frameworkmiui-res.apk or miuihome.apk should add the widget to the rom? or am I way off?

Hi Dodgexander.
It's a UE J7000.
After spending an age tweaking the picture settings, that was a trial, it finally looks something like. But that's only if you're feeding it a top class source and just for the lucky person in the box seat, if you're not sat directly and I mean directly in front and level with the screen things start to go awry.
It's not a set for family viewing, it's incapable of providing that service.
I had hoped I'd got a non Samsung panel and could send it back but sadly after running the check it proved I had the genuine article.
On visiting an independent tv shop this week my thoughts were the new tv's, bar 2 Sony's, were even worse (they had no OLED's in stock).
I was going to contact you on another forum so I'll see you on there
Thanks for all your info and help.

Is that the JU7000 from last year? Did you have the chance to look at the KS Samsung TVs this year or the Panasonic DX-902 or even Sony XD93. Those TVs should be a significant step up. I particularly like the motion control on the Samsung KS series because for the first time through motion interpolation it's possible to get a lot less motion blur on an LCD without any kind of motion artefacts or soap opera effect.

Thanks for the post. I'm a big fan of floating resizable apps.
Here are some others you might consider
1)hovernote for making notes
2)Stickit! to watch media and youtube. You can reduce this so that it goes to task bar and music still plays in background
3)Tswipe makes a floating resizable keyboard. But it is a bit pricey...
4)Overskreen is a nice floating resizable browser but it does not work on jelly bean.
5)Airterm makes a floating terminal
5)Popup stopwatch
6)Popup calendar
There is also some interesting work going on in the N7000 threads that describe how to adopt a tablet ui such that all the apps
can come up in a floating resizable window. However, I have yet to see it work on GN2. Here is a link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2105063
EDIT: Oops! I just noticed your OP is for "free" apps. Still might be worth it to compare...
