If I'm on a completely stock ROM (not even custom stock) and I want to relock my boot loader, I can use the Restore With Backups button in freegee, correct? I saw that a FAQ was "how do I uninstall this" and shellnutt answered, "Restore With Backups" but I just want to make sure I have my info correct. I shouldn't get the LG Security Error if I'm on LGs own ROM..correct?

I was wondering if I used the Freegee project app from the play store to flash CWM can I use that version to flash the CyanogenMod 10.2 without any problems? I know it says use a loki-fied version but I can't find where that is located at.

If you were rooted and used freegee to install CWM recovery. You are good freegee installs a lokified version of CWM.
Therefore CWM applies the Loki patch for you when you go yo flash a ROM.

Hey guys,
if i ''restore with backups'' with the freegee tool ,does that mean that cwm recovery is uninstalled or does it just lock the bootloader?
If i do that is any way to see that the phone has custom recovery and not the original?(its for warranty issues)
i want just to lock the bootloader and then unroot it..finally i will do a factory reset.
The reason im asking is that im a bit of noobie and the whole ''kdz revert to stock'' process i a bit scary to me
Thanks in advance!

For warranty reasons simply use this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660
Also Freegee doesn't 'unlock' the bootloader, it simply flashes custom recovery that patches the boot partition so that we don't brick our phones. It's actually just a bypass. Virtual Machine if you wish to call it that I guess.
Recovery for kitkat version
........on free gee i could only find cmw for jellybean version......there is no lokified version for kitkat...anybody who know about this...plss help me..
While trying to flash to the latest slim bean beta 4 I believe I bricked my device. It came up with something about secure bit being disabled. Lucky I was able to enter download mode and flash a Telcel ROM to make my phone work. I really want to run something other than this stock ROM. This is the first time anything like this has happened during a flash that I've done on any device.
Please help!

Secure boot error. Cause: boot unlock, so boot successful.
It's supposed to say that. That's how Loki works. I advise you to do a little more reading that way you don't freak out and do something hasty. Also always make sure you read the op carefully. Reroot your phone and try again.

I read the OP, I didn't really see anything about Loki. All I did was root, then install CWM, then flash the Slim ROM. What didn't I do right?

You really didn't do anything wrong. You supposed to wait for the rom to boot though after flashing. I say give it 5 minutes.

The ROM never booted. I flashed the ROM, them gapps, then modem, them hit reboot in CWM. That's when I get the error

It doesn't sound like you used Loki..
Root device then go to play store and download
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.shell.freegee_free
Make sure to select yes on security unlock and I would pick cwm recovery to avoid touch screen issues with twrp.

Did you install cwm thorough freegee? If so its auto lokified. And did you wipe data, cache, dalvik and format system? I do that every time with very rare boot issues. Rom posts will only mention Loki if they have lokified it themselves, youre expected to have read all about loki in the recovery threads.

Just remember after you root your device you must install recovery by using the app Freegee from Play store and select yes to security unlock.
Only flash ROMs made for a 980.

Well there's my problem. I didn't know that it was the recovery.
I used this recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2284298
Clockworkmod Recovery v6.0.2.8 v1 for Optimus G Pro
which apparently doesn't support Loki (still don't know what that means, but I guess its bad ). Maybe I'll order an external battery charger and try it again with the Loki-fied recovery.
Thanks for the help!

The boot loader is locked so there is a security. Loki is what's used to bypass the locked boot loader.
You must use Freegee to install a recovery that had Loki built in that way you can install ROMs because the recovery will always bypass the locked boot loader cause its using Loki.
The app is great and I suggest buying the donate version. I also recommend freegee to backup your els.
Also I suggest selecting cwm as the recovery when freegee asks.

Yes you can. Make sure to wipe data..after freegee you will start seeing a quick screen that shows up on reboot about bootloader security unlock success or something like that..this is normal.
Again only ROMs in this development section and for the E980

Is this option going to relock my boot loader? I'm on my stock ROM (not a custom stock ROM, the ROM straight from LG). I can't get LGNPST to connect to my computer (running windows 8). My phone randomly loses internet connection (started when I flashed a 4.4 ROM) even though it says I have full bars on LTE. Tried restoring my EFS from before I began flashing, however that didn't work.

Also, I saw that one of the FAQ (according to shellnut on his post about releasing freegee for the OGPro) was how to uninstall this. He answered "restore with backups" so...I'm assuming that means as long as I'm on the LG factory ROM and use the restore with backups, I'll be relocked and won't run into the LG Security error like I would on a custom ROM.
**EDIT**
from what I understand, restoring with backups will relock the boot loader without wiping the ROM (which is why restoring with backups gives you the security error when doing it on a custom ROM) so...I'll be fine with doing it on the LG stock ROM. Right? I know I'm kind of answering my own questions but it helps to hear it from someone else. I'm currently waiting on a reply from shellnutt.

I think I gave an answer in another thread about FreeGee and how it works.
When you use FreeGee it doesn't just backup your EFS it backs up the boot and two other parts. FreeGee is a dumb app meaning that it always assumes you are restoring to the same ROM. So if you are on ZVB and run FreeGee then move to ZVC and do a restore it can crash your phone. If all you want is to restore your EFS then hit this link for details. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38348745&postcount=1

I have no idea nor have I heard of it and no-one here or anywhere can tell you it will. If you want wait for a better answer or until I can look it up.
Look in here for more info but it doesn't cover unrooting/re-locking http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050582
I will tell you that there is a chance of an unbootable phone if you have removed any bloatware and then re-lock the phone.
If you want to be safe then just LGPNST back to stock. You'll have to reinstall everything but that is always the safest.
Yeah I removed bloatware but I don't remember which ones I did besides the file manager.
Never mind, I have them all still. Only one I didn't have was File Manager but that was reinstalled with the Application Manager.
Trust me, if I could LGNPST I would, but for some reason it won't recognize my phone. I need the windows 8 drivers I think but even then, I was told theres some weird process you have to go through in order to get it to work on windows 8

More questions? lol LG apps will do it too. If you don't unlock your bootloader, you'll become really good friends with LGNPST, if you uninstall an app LG wants. Sucks I know, but unlocking isn't that bad. The safest way to unlock? Just LGNPST teeny bins. I haven't heard of any issues with it. But s#*t happens.
I want to LGNPST but alas, LGNPST hates my phone. I checked compared to my moms LGOG, I'm not missing any apps so I should be good with the freegee relock I guess. I hope so.

Hey guys. I was wondering if there was an app or a program that could take a backup of my phone like the one from cwm. See i have a permanently locked bootloader and i want to try out the 4.3 firmware, without losing all my customisations on my current firmware. If thereis an app or a program that makes such backups, link it to me. THANKS
Sent from my C2005 using xda app-developers app
Well, if you have root then you can use this app. Another option would be using "adb backup" command, this one works without root but some contents may not be backed up...
Thanks for the reply, but there is one problem, that app doesn't allow me to restore the backup that i have made. Is there any app for that, or is it just impossible. By the way, i have a rooted phone, i just cannot unlock the bootloader
Sent from my C2005 using xda app-developers app
Uh, I forgot that, Online Nandroid Backup only makes the backup, a recovery is still needed to restore, so, it's useless for you. You'll have to stick with adb backup then, it'll backup most of your apps and data, but modifications you made directly to system (buil.prop changes, files flashed with Flash Gordon, etc) will be lost...
Ah ok thanks bro. I'll just wait until a root method for licked bootloaders has been discovered on 4.3.
Thanks again
