I'm currently using MIUI 12.31 and I generally like it. I would like to try a nice stable easily customizable gingerbread rom. Can someone help me sift through all the available roms? I've had my dinc rooted since September, and have tried several roms, but I'm no expert in the more development. I must rely on the work of others. Thanks for any help.

As far as I can tell, all of the Gingerbread ROMs coming to the Incredible are fairly new. You're not going to get anything thats 100% stable until people use them and report back. You also won't get the stability you are looking for because some apps may not play nice with 2.3
Agreed.. The source code was released only a couple of weeks ago. Soon... But not yet

If you feel like experimenting with gingerbread try R2doesinc omgbv6. I've been using it for a few days now with no issue and good battery life. There are a few known bugs though... issue with missing apps and video recording.
Be sure to flash the ota fix found in the thread otherwise it will keep trying to download the vzw froyo update.

I've got it booting now. Just need to do a bit of cleanup to get everything working.

Don't.. it's quite terrible really. I'm not seeing anything special over stock Android. I don't see any of those neat features shown in the screenshots.
So either this dump isn't a real dump of the shipping phone or I'm not looking in the right places.
I've got 3G working and most everything else working, but am having serious gfx issues making the ROM unusable.
I'm not really terribly interested in Meizu M9 but was bored and up for a challenge. If I can't get it working fully tonight, I'll post what I have and someone else can takeover.

No idea, I wasn't impressed months ago when they announced it. Only reason I am doing this is because I figured it would be pretty easy to do. I was partly right.
I'm not sure what is really going on with the gfx.. but there is a new M9 firmware released a few days ago.
http://www.meizume.com/meizu-m9-firmware/12641-meizu-m9-firmware-v1-0-2-14504-a.html
Gonna try using that to see if it's any better and if not, just release as-is cuz I'm kinda over it.
Graphics issues are fixed... I should be able to release this sometime tonight once I fix up a few other issues and update it to the latest m9 release.

There is no all-purpose porting method. Sure some things work on most AOSP roms (kernel, drivers, etc.) but every ROM is different and it really just comes down to experience and troubleshooting skill.

They are all updates that try to improve and fix things. Do a full wipe and try the latest. But consider them all betas. For issues follow the thread on CM7.2 with Wimax in Development. See what issues people have. 12 fixes the 4G toggle plus other stuff.

They are called nightly's because a new one is built every night. Or at least that has been the case for the past 12 nights since becoming a CM7 official device. Version 12 has been running well for me but I'm looking forward to the new lockscreen coming in vr 13.
Here is the easiest way to track changes between each release: http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=epicmtd
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App[/QUOTE]
There's a new version every day because they build nightly.
In the software world, nightly builds help ensure that recent changes haven't broken other functionality. It's much less stressful to incrementally test this way than to get to the end of a project, check everything in, find a handful of bugs, and have to trawl through months of work to pinpoint where something went wrong.
The quick turnaround of this process is a major reason why they don't want you filing bugs against nightlies; A bug found in nightly 100 might be discovered, fixed, and baked into 101 or 102 before anybody even looks at the bug report.
If stability is your main concern, you probably don't want to get on the nightly boat. Instead, wait for the next Release Candidate.
If you think you can handle being on the bleeding edge, you can get an idea of what's changed each day (and what's slated to be in the next build) from the changelog that rocket321 just linked. Be prepared to use a phone that is less than perfect, and understand that a major feature you use your phone for could suddenly stop working in the next build, but it's your responsibility to deal with it.
Gone with the wind. Please delete. Thanks.
Thanks TLS! I will give it a go later today. I will post back my results. Just a quick question, any SODS?

Well, on my current setup, I flashed everything one by one, and I'm stable. Not a single SOD/RR. Great battery life. However, AOKP JB is fragile, the only way to know is to test it. I'm making a nandroid right now, so I myself can test at around 3:00 PM eastern and report back by dinner time, lol.

Any RR or SODs?
I promised I would get back to you, so I am. So let me start off by saying that it is SUPER smooth. When I first booted it up, it was really smooth. One bug i found though is that data doesn't work. It says in the notification drawer that it is on, but when try to go onto the internet, it doesn't work. Also, there were no SODs or RRs. I also liked the fact that is a like a "lite" ROM. You didn't add too many extra applications. The data is a big problem for me, so once that is fixed, I will use it as my DD. I went back to the ROM I was running before. I am really impressed that on your first release, it only had one bug.

Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Thanks guys. I'm gonna test it out this afternoon and hopefully figure it out from there.
Edit : I have a educated guess into what the data problem could be, so I'm going to remove speed tweaks for the net.
As for the auto-rotation not working, not sure what to say about that at all. I'll review it when I get back, I'm highly curious to see if I can resolve these bugs. Thanks guys for testing! Hopefully no SOD/RRs yet for anyone!

Hello Dev, I think you should remove the word "stable" from your heading. It is misleading. But hey, I am sure you will have this rom up and running nicely. great work.
Why do people keep complaining that is isn't stable? It is pretty stable. I used it for around 20 min. earlier today and no lag, no issues (besides data). It is really nice like I said earlier. Perfect for people who want a ROM without any extra apps.

Edit : Rev 01 should fix the problems. If not, I should have it all fixed by tonight. I'm typing this from college right now, can't wait to go flash it though. AOKP is buttery smooth with great battery life. CPUSleeper + tweaks = even more performance.
However, the biggest two killers you should be wary of are 4G/3G (data) and high screen brightness.
OK thanks.. downloading now..

Because it is based on source that has SOD and RR. There have been no core framework or kernel changes, so it inherently has the same issues as the source it is based on.
BTW: SideKick...good job. keep up the good work.

Honestly I dont get why you guys put all these unofficial builds out all the time if they have SOD and RR in the first place.. Great, you can compile a ROM from source that's got broken kernel problems and patch mods in. Well, seeing as up until very recently team_kang was only releasing builds on a NO ETA cycle. The nightlies give people something to flash and tinker with. Code is merged every night from the team, so we (people lik erik, myself) release nightlies for the community. Now, Sidekick has taken things a step further by providing yet another option for the thankful members of XDA to flash. If you have no intentions on flashing the rom in the OP, i would suggest you move along.
Choice is yours, but I doubt that OP appreciates someone trolling in his thread.
OP updated. Fixed most bugs.
Anyone that has the urge to change, alter and or make better this rom. All I have to say is feel free!! The whole great thing about open source is just that. Make sure to give credit where it is due! The only credit due here is for Slim, I only compiled from there source. If I can help get slim w/android 4.2 working on hercules than I am a hero, but for now I am just sharing source of a great rom.
Compiled on the 28th. Version 2.8.1
I know gmills was having problems with his computer and I have been building for a while now so I figure why not share.
I am not having any problems with this rom at all. Stock kernel, stock build.prop etc.
I would like to have some of ya'll test as is and see if you have any issue's.
For anyone that wants to help test, I would like for a clean install, just like coming from stock phone. Format everything and start from scratch with this build. I am doing another build this evening and will let the testers know when. This build I am posting now is very stable and I will not post anything that Is not stable and pre tested in this thread. If you want to test new builds, just let me know.
I take no credit for this at all, All the members of Slim Bean and of course cyanogen and team chop sticks made this possible!
Also special thanks to team rook! If you are interested in building from source then read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798056

Thanks for helping out and providing this for us. I'd been waiting for the official update but finally decided to ahead and pull the trigger when I noticed this thread.

Yes this is Slim's base. I am going to do a 2.9 build, it appears Slim Bean has been updated. Starting build now and should be done in a couple of hours!
