Hello mates,
My question is if you know if the Cyanogenmod team is working or will work in one of the SM-P605 ROM.
Thank you very much!

AFAIK at the moment there is no development, nor comments on plans for it. That being said, when you look at the Samsung lineup supported historically, it ought to get support at some point.
Also worth keeping an eye out for any OmniROM support in the future, which consists of a solid team of developers, including Chainfire. It will support S3 and Note II at some point, so perhaps more Samsung stuff will be added later. Note, that OmniROM will support multiwindow.

Thanks for the reply!
I was waiting for the release of the new Nexus 10, but as it seems that Google has other plans I have considered purchasing a Note 10.1 2014 Edition.
The problem is that I prefer pure Android on Samsung adds layers, so my question about Cyanogenmod ROMS.
If not they hope the team OmniROM get something going.
Greetings Fellow.

I was also waiting for the Nexus 10, I love my Nexus 7. The s-pen and multi-window convinced me to get this tablet though. So far I am very happy and use both features all the time. They are also the two most stable and well-designed features. Rest of Samsung's gimmicks I found pointless or too unreliable. I will try OmniROM as well if/when it comes out. Still need to sort out if the s-pen stuff will work just as well with OmniROM... but that is months away, at the moment we have root and the last bugs are being ironed out for the recovery, after that comes new ROMs and kernels I hope

I'm in the same boat. The third alternative I'm considering is Sony Xperia Tablet Z, which has slightly lesser specs (though it has better looks in my opinion) but is already supported by Cyanogenmod. Considering my current Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GSM) was never fully supported by CM (i.e. no stable versions), I don't really want to buy a tablet before I'm reasonably certain CM will work well on it...

Why would you make cm a requirement? Are other roms that have been fully de bloated etc and use a modified kernel, all that jazz, are they really that bad? Especially with an s pen...I may be wrong but I suspect that s pen useability would be sacrificed with a non tw rom

Well, my priorities are "stockness", UI customization (things like battery indicator, softbuttons, lockscreen shortcuts), stability (including a low amount of bugs), and Android version upgrades. While s pen is nice, its usability is an acceptable loss for me.
As for other more customized roms... As a Linux distribution and kernel developer myself, I believe a proper release process (including a long-ish stabilization period) and QA is a must on a project as large as Android roms to achieve a good level of stability, and CyanogenMod seems to be doing quite OK in those.
(I guess this doesn't apply that much to ROMs that are just minor modifications from manufacturer versions, since the possibility of regressions is much smaller on those)
I also don't care for specific kernel modifications or performance improvements etc. that much, the question I ask myself is "Why didn't the manufacturer do it like that in the first place?" or "Why doesn't CM do it?". If there's something I want that is missing from CM, I would submit it for inclusion in CM first, in which case it either gets merged in or refused (for a good reason, I'd hope). From what I've seen their policy has been reasonable and suited to my needs so far.

Bingo!
Can't we do a pledge thing and hope someone would help make the note 10.1 2014 reach it into cyanogenmod? I would definitely pledge a fair amount.

If you don't care about the S-pen, why even get this tablet at all!? There are a number of other tablets that while maybe lacking OTHER features than the active pen, but generally that's the specific feature that people get ANY of the Note series for.

The reason I got it was for multi windows only, and I'm sure with cyanogenmod we could come up with a mod for multi windows. This tab also has a beastly CPU and RAM which are other reasons I got this tab. I personally don't see using the pen much at all.

Personally I wanted the super high resolution, and the Nexus 10 is now getting long in the tooth and not available with 4G or 3G (and no way I'd go Apple!)
The pen would work with Cyanogen anyway (it did on my previous Galaxy Note I), you just lose the advanced functionalities. Plain Android has support for pen input.
CM is good and I use it on my Galaxy S3. However the multiwindow features for me personally are too good to give up. I figured I wouldn't use CM unless there's a multiwindow mod for it, or something like Omnirom should come out for this. The only other S-pen feature from the air view I find useful is pen window. Everything else is just gimmicks it feels like.
However I would really like a knox 0x0 root method first for the P600 version...sad to say it might not even happen at this point
really want it
Currently No Cyanogenmod rom has supported Multi window, So your probably out of luck OP you will lose Spen and multi window with cyanogen multiwindow is part of the touchwiz framework if I remember Correctly

I was about to invest money into CM because I really like the mod.. However now I read that S-Pen and multi window are not supported? As I just bought a Note 10.1 2014 Edition, I am interested to find a Mod that supports multi window and s-pen, can anyone point me in a direction? apart from having installed CM on my devices and the devices of some friends I have no idea about the mod world.
Thank you

You people make no sense. Why spend $600 on the most advanced tablet on the market only to attempt to install a ROM that will wipe out all of its selling features to then try and spend several hours finding a way to get those features back? I enjoy CM on my S3 as much as the next guy, but on this tablet it just makes no sense! Wait for Google to refresh the nexus 10 if you need stock Android that badly.
@¿Will-it-Blend?
Many reasons, Ill list some of the important ones:
1. I like samsung (Im a shareholder)
2. The tab in itself is good, so when I can chose to have a good tab with no extra features or a ****ty tab with no extra features I chose the good one.
3. Should any of the modders ever be capable of implementing the extra gadgets I already have a tab that can handle them, if not I have a good tab that can do the same as the ****ty tab but with more style
I hope this answered your question to your satisfaction, sadly you didnt even try to answer mine. Im still interested if anyone knows of any mods out there that support the extra features and are as stable and clean as CM? Or any mod for that tab, as at this moment my tab is laying around unused since there is no CM version for it.

I didn't answer your question because there are none . Ommi ROM has a multi-window feature but I highly doubt they will support this device. It will be some time before CM even supports this device. I feel sorry for you that you feel the need to cripple your device but it will still be a good while before you even see CM and it incorporates the features the stock ROM offers and for it to be just as stable as well. And that's if AOSP ROMS incorporate these features at all.
About the multiwindow on CM thing, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but there's an xposed module that lets you use a feature similar to multiwindow.
Hey guys..
For the first time i am having the opinion that finally a phone has landed in the beloved 4.3" segment which i (among many other fellow thinkers) believe can become my next purchase.
However, i have few questions which i would like others to comment upon:
1) I have always like the UI of Samsung. Currently using a Samsung phone with apex launcher and it is something i am very comfortable with.
Question is: How much close to that UI can i pull a Sony Xperia phone?
2) Can the night photography get better via future OTA updates?
Something like a patch/f.w revision?
3) I like to install good quality case on my phones. Havent seen anything for the z1 till now.
Any news on this dept? I hope the device gets good support from manufacturers like Spigen etc..
4) A bit OT, but somebody pls tell/direct me to ascertain the difference between Android Development Vs Original Android Development ?
Hi,
I don't have Sammy device but I can still answer few of your questions.
1- Sony UI is very nice indeed when I first used it but I use Apex the most as I like to personalised homescreen, icon and drawer.
2-probably YES and there already have new firmware update been approved by Sony for the Z1C. It could be anytime soon and awaiting to see what improvement it does.
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/02/21/firmware-build-14-2-a-1-142-hits-the-xperia-z1-compact/
3-Already have quite lots of cases around. You could check CASE and SCREEN
4-No idea.

Example here:
If you take source of CyanogenMod, adjust it and build a ROM specifically for Xperia Z1 Compact, it's "Android Development".
But if you create a completely new ROM (or develop a new feature), it's "Original Android Development".

I haven bought z1 compact, but from my usage of XS
If you use a 3rd party launcher, some of the Xperia widget would not be available? This include weather, walkman, photo gallery, notepad, quick toggle widget etc. But, you can always use 3rd party app.

2) From my understanding, using manual mode with proper ISO settings and no flash takes brilliant night photos. I mean, that is generally how you take good night photos with a good camera anyways. While I understand why there is the flash bleed, the flash on a tiny smartphone, let alone a compact point and shoot isn't going to do any good anyways. Unless you have separate lighting, flash ruins anything but a tight portrait shot, and even then, this can mostly be fixed by the simple DIY thread on fixing the bleed.
Short of the Nokia 920 I had, I haven't had a phone that takes particularly good night shots ever. Yeah, some take so-so shots, but nothing has been spectacular, because no other phones have a 3-way OIS (optical image stabilization). 2-way OIS seems somewhat useless.

Z1C is still considered a fairly new device, and where i live people arewaiting in line to get their phone, so as case and accesorymanufacturers see that the device is selling heaps, they will start shipping compatible accessories. I got a dirt cheap wallet-leather folding case-thingy, that i might swap out since I'd like to use the magnetic dock at some point in time.
Bottom line: I have no regrets moving from my S3, and the screensize is perfect. With my S3 i even missed my S1 on some occations because of the one-hand-operating-friendlyness of the latter.
Hope this helps
this is the best device for me. Best battery, design, powerful device

I am using the Case Mate Tough Case which I consider er "good quality case". Unifortunately Case Mate have designed it without access to the Magnetic Charging Port, but as shown in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2631321&page=4 you can mod the case to take care of this. All in all I am really happy about both my phone and my case although It obviously would have been preferable if Case Mate had made the cutout for the magnetic charging port themselves.
Did it happen to you ?
My phone (Z1C, rooted, locked BL, UK software loaded as described in XDA roooting procedure)
sometimes forgets settings or set them to random values.
Example:
1. Alarm clock returns sound to default.
2. I noticed that I have 3 extra alarms set, completely at random hours.
Questions:
- Did it happen to you ?
- Any idea what could cause it ?
Never happened to me though I don't use the stock alarm, I use Timely Alarm Clock ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.bitspin.timely )
I say that not to be mean, but because of using my other Android devices the last few years and loving it, I was looking forward to a similar experience with the 10.1 tablet (WiFi,) only to find out it seems like there really isn't a scene for this rom.
I saw one rom that was discontinued, and maybe 1 or 2 more, but it doesn't seem like the roms are being maintained like on other devices. Maybe I am wrong and missing something, but if there is any other roms for this 10.1 tablet (WiFi) that I am missing out on, please do point me that roms way so I could give it a try.
Thank you,
Whiteice
Yeah I wish I had bought the tab 2 10.1. Only difference in specs is this retarded intel cpu. Breaks my heart to see all those roms in the tab 2 10.1 forum. I guess I secretly hoped someone would port windows 7 or 8 to this because of the cpu. Captain backfire, [me] my last tablet was a dell streak 7, so I am no stranger to orphaned devices. At least we get kit kat (hopefully)
Of those that are available, the discontinued BinDroid ONE v.2.0.1 seems to be the best, IMHO. Has a nice look and feel. All the bloat is gone and it runs very smoothly. Will it increase battery life I don't know. I haven't run it all day to see what I will get out of it. I really don't use my tab for anything but as a small chart plotter for sailing in to/out of harbors. And in that regard, it works great. GPS is very fast and accurate.

No idea what you are trying to get out of it, but you can do any of the mods that developers do for the ROMs on your own with very little effort. Root, then freeze or remove apps you don't need. Use xPOsed to tweak the theme. Forget overclock and voltage, its not worth the effort. Don;t like the home screens?, install a new launcher from the play store.

Yes...I can do all of those things...but have you ever installed a custom rom? I mean come on man. it's a little more than home screens and a launcher dude. I have had kitkat on my captivate for 6 months and it is a 2010 device. Cyanogen even supports it but not my brand new tab 3 10.1. Yes, root and remove apps is no big deal but certainly not the reason I install custom roms. Is that the reason you install a custom rom? If so...you don't expect much from your device.
Are even Intel devices overclockable? I thought that Intel restricts such thing. Feel free to correct me. The GPU is another story though...
Hello everyone. I have been reading forums on this website for a long time and I must say there is tons of useful information over here. So thought I should become a member too.
Recently I Bought Note 10.1 2014 Edition LTE version. I was expecting it to be much better that its really is. The display is nice but there is lag on this Tablet. It stutters during web browsing. I have a note 3 also which is much smoother although it has 1.9 Ghz Exynos processor as compared to 2.3 Ghz on this tablet. Anyways I have read on net that may be its because it has double the amount of pixels on display as compared to note 3 therefore it has some amount of lag.
Ok my main question to you guys who already own this tablet. In reflection of light I can see the Digitizer Matrix all along the display. its a bit annoying looks like faint sctraches on the screen. I have used many android devices but never experienced anything like it before. while looking as it directly with no light reflection it is not visible at all but even in faintest light reflection is starts to become visible even with the display on
So is it normal or a defect?
Help would be highly appreciated.

Have you used a device with an inductive display before? It puts out an electromagnetic signal which detects the presence of the pen. That's why the display looks different. I've been using mine since November and have never noticed the grid in everyday use. As for lag it pretty much went away with the 4.4 update. If you're already on 4.4 and the display grid is going to bother you return the device while you still can.

The visible matrix does not bother me too much when in use. The display is still beautiful.
I am still on 4.3 coz 4.4 is not available in my region yet. Lets hope once the update is made available in my region, lag will reduce.
The gaming performance however, is better than on note 3.

4.4 is rolling out painfully slow. What region are you in and what model number N10.1-14 do you have? Chances are you can safely download and install a compatible region's ROM without changing the status of your device or tripping KNOX.

You can download the HK 4.4 ROM here.
http://samsung-updates.com/details/30043/Galaxy_Note_10.1_2014_LTE/SM-P605/TGY/P605ZSUCNF1.html
Many people on the forum are using ROMs from other (but compatible) regions because 4.4 hasn't been rolled out to their specific region yet. I'm using a Panamanian ROM on a SM-P601 from Trinidad. They work fine. There can be some oddity (I still have lock screen widgets which I shouldn't and don't have Daynote when I should) but everything else works as designed.
If you've never installed a non-standard ROM on your device do a Google search on "Odin." It'll link you to s/w you need to download and provide you with instructions. I can answer any questions you might have. There's little risk and it doesn't affect your device's status (it stays "official") or KNOX. For me, 4.4 was like getting a new tablet.
Yes I am sure 4.4 solves many issues. I will try the above instructions today. thanks a lot and best regards.

I can answer any questions you might have. There's little risk and it doesn't affect your device's status (it stays "official") or KNOX. For me, 4.4 was like getting a new tablet.

Hi due to political instability in my country, my office is off nowadays and I finally got some time to update my software.
I installed P605XXUCNF2 version which is from NEE region. At first I was not sure but then the lag and stutter in my tablet forced me to go for it.

Like you said Barry its literally like having a new tablet. The lag is gone and overall it has become really smooth.
Thank you for your advice without which I would never have found the solution.
God bless you bro.

[/B]
So is it normal or a defect?
Help would be highly appreciated.

i just thought i'd pitch in, theres a setting in chrome you can change to eliminate that lag - it just doesnt allocate enough ram for the resolution its rendered at by default.
Wow another thread about lag..I have had this tab since Dec 2013 ..Never had lag, no issues ever... I have a life, so I don't sit and stare at the tablet all day and pick at it. It's Android . And Sammy it will have some issues...There are quick easy fixes for the mysterious lag people are complaining about. This is the best tab out for this year..The Tab S is the same tab minus the pen..it only has a better screen ..but that could be debated as well.

The amoled display will considerably increase battery life and will have better contrast. Its a huge improvement.
Other specs of tab s is same as note 10.1 as far as I know.
I haven't looked into the files etc. in the ROMs, but from looking at the physical hardware specifications they are VERY similar in terms of processor, GPU, RAM, internal storage etc. The question I have is whether they should be very easy to port from one device to the other? Are the drivers for the sAMOLED massively different from the LCD in the Tab Pro?
I may have a go flashing one of the Tab S 10.5 ROMs on to my Tab Pro 10.1 and see what happens...
Does anyone know if there is anything obvious which would prevent it from working? Other than the model ID checks obviously...

I wouldn't try flashing a ROM for a different device on your Tab Pro, you could get yourself into a lot of trouble and you could end up with a Bricked tablet!!!!!

???? Look again. The Pro uses a Snapdragon 800 SoC from Qualcomm, the S an Exynos SoC from Samsung.
BTW, there is a sticky in this forum indicating that questions belong in the Q&A/Troubleshooting section, not here. The mods will move it shortly.
Apologies for putting in the wrong section.
that aside, the tab pro 10.1 comes with the exynos chipset here in the UK. The 5420 to be precise, the exact same chipset that the tab s comes with. The only differences between the tab pro 10.1 and the tab s 10.5 is the SAMOLED and the S-pen compatible touch matrix.
I know there are variants of the tab pro with snapdragon chipsets, but the 10.1 is exynos.
FYI
Having had a bit of a mess around with some of the ROMs for the SM-T800 (Galaxy Tab S Exynos) I managed to get some pleasing results. Some elements don't work, mainly the keyboard and WiFi at the moment (presumably they use different wireless chipsets). Managed to fix the Wifi but still working on some other bits and pieces.
May contact a ROM dev who works on the Tab S and see if I can produce a port of one of their ROMs. Mainly interested to see if I can port over a Lollipop ROM but thought starting with a 4.4.2 one was a good shout.
In the most light-hearted of ways - SHUN THE NON-BELIEVER!
If everything works as planned i'll set up a ROM port in the general development section of the forum. :good:

Kudos to you. I have a 10.1 pro and the chipset is Exynos (I'm in UK). Interested in the port which is likely to be successful. I'm also interested in rooting it whilst keeping Knox 0x0.
Thanks

Will keep ars***g about as it is still uber buggy and I don't have permission from creators to distribute yet but will keep you posted.
Currently using the new 'flat UI' which looks and performs great.:highfive:

Any luck here?? Looking at all the hardware and software I believe the files are identical and only differentials are ram, processor, display.
LG G3 VS985 SkyDragon LP
If I've helped you please hit the thanks!! ? ?
Apologies people, not made much headway recently as work has been manic (I'm a 25 year old IT account manager so free time is a rarity!)
I am still awaiting a response as to whether I can kang some bits from other ROMs as well so will do some chasing and see where we can get
I have been running my mash-up for a little while and there's still lots to fix before it becomes useable...
I'm glad people are interested in this, though
One thing to one of the posters, this is just a 'flat UI' style ROM based on 4.4.2/4.4.4 so is NOT a full LP ROM - that may change, but I haven't played with kernels enough yet to try and lob LP on it properly.
:highfive:
Keep trying your best. We are waiting. Do let us know if we can help.
