A few days ago I noticed that the up/down arrows are no longer functional when writing a reply. Left/right/home/end still work OK.
The symptoms are similar to what was reported here, but XDA appears to be running jQuery 1.10.1 which should have the fix:
Code:
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
I see this on three different PCs running Firefox 21 and 23, with or without ad blockers.
This happens when I click "reply" but not when I click "new thread," "quick reply," or "edit / delete."
Has anything changed recently that might explain this?
Thanks.
Arrows work fine for me.
The server admin @bitpushr might know more.
I think this was just affecting Firefox users, but it should be resolved now. Thanks! :highfive:

Wanted to try the ReTweet button you see on each thread and post, but when i click it, it takes me to a blank pages saying:

Edit: Tried with Firefox, Chrome, IE and Opera all 4 gives the same message as above. This is on Win7 64bit if that has anything to do with it.

Same here, Chrome 5.0.375.99, Windows XP SP3.

Okay good to know, It's probably not working for anyone at the moment then. Hopefully it will be fixed.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Here working well: Opera 10.60, Win7 32bit
Hm, i've tried Firefox, IE and Chrome all three give the same message. Gonna install Opera and check. But anyway, there must be some kind of problem with the feature, can't be right that it should only work on Opera?
Edit: Nope, not working in Opera either here. Don't suppose there is on option in my User CP here on the board i must enable or something?
We're trying to fix - it has to do with the Twitter API we're using. Thanks for the note!
Ah great, looking forward to when it's fixed =)
Not sure if anyone else is running into this, but lately any thread I open on XDA is PAINFULLY slow. Scrolling is unresponsive for a long time. In my status bar in Chrome it says that the site is waiting on www.facebook.com to load..
Loading individual forums seems to work just fine. It's only threads that this happens in.
Is anyone else running into this? What is going on here??
EDIT: When the hell was the Facebook Like button introduced? I blocked the widget via the WidgetBlock Chrome Extension and now speed is back to normal.
Horribly poor implementation, I can't possibly be the only one who experienced this.
+1 10charr
not sure. Becoming more happy I joined with the old style forum that doesn't have thank or like buttons...
thanks for the link, solved my issues
I was coming to this forum to complain
fixed my slowdown issues with androidcentral as well
I just noticed the "Like" button myself. Thank for the link to remove it.
Are we going to be seeing +1 buttons shortly as well?

If +1 buttons come to XDA, don't worry, because that Chrome extension I posted was already updated to block that too
I was having the same issue and have removed the while <li> that contained the button with AdBlock in Chrome for now.
I have PM'd svetius with a link to this thread.

Not really, since it's technically a google user blocking google, not google itself.
using XDA 2010 theme.
Chrome 13.0.782.112 m (problem screenshot attached)
example post
Clicking on an attachment (e.g. first attachment in link above) gives a blank page that says "No input file specified."
http://attachments.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=459690&d=1291868970
Works fine in IE9 and FF4.0.1

anyone? frustrating...
The first example post link you posted has a problem. The attachments are missing for some reason. That's not a problem on your end.
Actually: this happens of 50% of the thumbnails I've looked at.
They work fine in Firefox tho.
Same for me using Chrome Version 23.0.1271.1, 'Attached Thumbnails' surrounded by an empty box, not tried a different browser but will do later :good:
For Chrome users, do you have adblock plus enabled on xda-developer's forums ? If you disable adblock plus you should see the attachments. This is what i experienced with Chrome 23 myself

Have you seen a Muffin..?
One way of getting it to work is to click on the post count.
Sometimes it requires multiple tries.

Works for me, open one post with void attachments separately ( by clicking on the post count) and it'll show the thumbnails, now just refresh the main/other page and all the attachments will appear..at least temporarily.

... in the latest Chrome browser, after editing the post. If I pressed "Save" after editing, I just getting a spinning indicator.
But if I switch to "Advanced mode" everything works as it should be.
Update: same behavior/bug on "Post quick reply" button
P.S. Hmm... I'm confusing: it works now...

yup, @bitpushr should be aware of it and hopefully solve it for good some time in the future and its not the only issue XDA site is going through , so in the meantime the work around might have to do for now. :fingers-crossed:
I don't know why but such useful browser feature doesn't really work on XDA-Developers forums. For example I see a itneresting new on the right side widget. I middle mouse button click it, but it won't open in a new tab, but instead it will open in the current tab just like I would left click it. I can give you numbers of similiar behaviours like that over the xda. That's really annoying.
Why is that happening and are you guys ever going to fix it?

Suggest you try an alternate browser.
Also try a fresh profile in case something in your current profile is the cause.
Its not working for me can you suggest me an other way ?
Does it still work correctly on other sites?
Not a Chrome user so can't really help with it.
General troubleshooting though. Try other sites. Try a clean profile.
Try other tools with the problem site.

It does work correctly on every other website. There's no "clean profile" option in chrome and I have no idea what do you mean by "other tools".
This issue happens with particular stuff, like the widget with the news on the right side of the thread view.

Are you using the new 2015 theme? I think there were one or two links on the old style which were like that, but it should be resolved now on the new style

Just middle button pressed "XDA PORTAL POSTS" news and it still opens up on the same tab. Even on 2015 / 2015 dark theme :/
I'd actually would prefer to use the old theme either way so I could use Dark XDA Stylish theme by @GermainZ as for me it looks much better. Just a presonal preference.

We had additional google analytics code on those links, my guess is that was blocking the open in new tab option. We made this change a long time ago so this must have been long-standing.
