I have installed a 16Gb SD card into my Ace 2
I'm now getting an error saying USB Storage is full.
Is there any way, without rooting, of being able to use the SD card for apps or anything to free up the USB storage so I can view pictures again?
I have moved all pictures from phone onto a PC, but its the apps that are taking up the room - Dragonvale takes up 90Mb alone.
I tried Link2SD but this didn't seem to do the job.
, transfer sdcard pics to DCIM in ext sd then swap vold.fstab

Yeah, tried that and all solutions required root, unless I missed something, which is why I asked
You cant almost fix anything without root
but you can this problem ... here is link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267103 (Only if you are using jelly bean)

Damn, its on 2.3.6
Guess I'll have to root it.
Is its easy enough to do?
Do I need custom FW too?

Phone is already on 2.3.6
I'll need to root, custom firmware, upgrade to jb. Sounds like a lot of hassle, might be easier to sell it and get a better phone

You can flash jb directly, why root, fkash custom fw then upgrade. Ive flashed every rom available from gb to jb (except Minooch and blue job and inzhi). And dont. Insult. Our codina -.-

Hi all, this is my first post and i hope to take advantage from it.
I've done a lot of research in the android development forums. The first thing i did to my phone was to get it rooted. So far so good, i followed the instructions and everything went ok.
Now i want to install a ROM. Thing is there is a lot of terminology i do not quite understand and i want to know for sure how this process is done correctly. In theory i know how to install a ROM but some disclaimers keeps me from doing it.
The main question here is, my phone has to meet some prerequisites in order to install a ROM? I mean, the android version of my phone, baseband version, kernel version and build number necessarily need to have the same characteristics from the ROM i will be flashing? For example, Team Kang's Juggernaut base band version is T989VKID mine is T989UVKL1, the android version is 2.3.5, mine is 2.3.6 and so on. That basically is it. I do not want to mess up my phone but at the same time i wanna enjoy those great roms.
Thanks in advance and i wish a happy valentine's day to all
Download ROM manager. Pick install from sd card. Wipe data and cache. Pick the ROM you downloaded. Just make sure you only install roms from this forum
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
The answer to your question is basically no. Roms don't change your baseband. So that doesn't matter. If your on 2.36 and you install a 2.35 ROM you'll just be on 2.35. But in the case of a kickass ROM that would be just fine.

instead of using rom manager, I would suggest doing everything from the CWM recovery itself. The manual way is always better and you encounter less problems along the way..
i.e. backup/restore isn't complete. didn't wipe everything clean... etc.

I could be wrong but I think the last version of CWM wont let you make backups to the internal but you can flash from the internal. But the newest touch version that just came out a few weeks ago does have internal suppoert for backups so you have to flash the latest one. And I would listen to them when they say not to use rom manager there are far too many problems with it. Also the latest version of juggs is 4.1 and that is 2.3.6. I would use that one. Good luck

You normally have to do a full wipe b4 installing a different ROM.
Chk out this site (galaxys2root.com) it gives me a lots of EASY TO UNDERSTAND info when i started playing with ROMs.Currently i am on my fifth ROM .
Yes do full wipe, Clear caches and do a nandroid back up first thou and make sure after flashing and re booting to let it sit for 10min

Both of the thing you want to do will be availble with a new custom ROM. Install TWRP, download a new rom into your SD card, back up, wipe then flash your new rom, all in TWRP and in that order.
CleanROM is a really good suggestion, really close to stock and it has all the things you want by default.

Yes I have done searches and have only found that running a rom is the only solution that I have found, and since I like the stock rom on the Note 2 I was trying to avoid flashing a rom ( I have had bad experiences in the past with flashing rom's) but if that's the only way to get tether i'll do it. I should have been more clear in the original post. I was hoping someone had something like FoxFi running.

You can gain tether by installing a zip file after you root the phone. And yes you can stay on stock to do so.
But you won't have any of the benefits of a custom ROM. Per say, battery life, OC, bloat removed etc. But if your rooted already then you can try and find that zip is floating around somewhere here on XDA SEARCH!
Just my 2 cents...

Use Foxfi. Its only a couple of dollars for the License. It works on all The roms I've had on my Gnote2(stock,custom). And your right about titanium backup to get rid of bloatware. I bought a Pro key from them also. Well worth it.
Just Follwing the guide.
To setup use tethering use the mod by mostyle . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000851
And to remove bloat app use MrRobinson to remove it in TWRP. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1997329

I ran into a little problem the other day. I was trying new things and tried to save all my apk files to a new sd card i picked up that is 32gb male for samsumg. I'll try it. But I did want to start over and reflash the rom. You think that would fix the problem or would I still have to install kies and all that. And what's the difference between JB and KK? Would I be better off with KK? Sorry for the noob questions. I'm not a programmer or anything I just like to tinker haha.
Going off that screenshots of wicked, your still on 4.3 jellybean and have not officially updated to kitkat. If your sdcard is not being recognized I would try using a SD card adapter and put into a computer and see if it picks it up in order to backup any data and then possibly format it to fat or exfat. I use mini tool partition to do all my formats and or partitioning if needed on my sdcards, it's a free program just google it.

Simply back up your apps with Titanium Backup, and put your contacts on your SIM card if you haven't already. Everything on the internal SD card isn't erased after a factory reset (in TWRP anyway, not sure about CWM), so you don't have to worry about pictures or stuff.
EDIT: I guess dual booting IS possible. I stand corrected.
Use the built in import/export function for contacts as well.
You can dual boot with a modified recovery...

I saw on a thread that someone was using "Multiboot" to run CM11 as their daily driver but also having TW on it to use for WiFi calling and such.... I want to ask:
Was this a fib?
If not then how can I do it?
Is there a guide I can look at?
If it is possible then I would like to run CM11 and TW 4.1.2, I already have the images and ODIN for that. I never updated to 4.3 so I don't think that is a problem?
If you have help please quote my post so I can get a handy email of the response ^-^

Get the AT&T version 2.12 - it has a fix in it for the External SD card that appeared in 2.11. While it's an AT&T recovery, it'll work fine on our phones as the TMO and AT&T S3 are the same phones.
Once you have the file, flash it via CWM and you'll have a MultiBoot TWRP as your recovery. The thread for the MultiBoot Recovery has a couple of Youtube videos that walk through setting up additional ROMs. I'm currently using z999 (Odexed 4.1.2 TW ROM) as my backup ROM to use for Wi-Fi calling.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.

For some reason, on the 2.11 version, I couldn't get the secondary ROM to see my external SD card. I backup all of my apps there - it was a pain to copy my backups to the internal SD card. There were a lot of comments about the issue on the AT&T forum and the developer put out a new version (2.12). However, he never put out a version for d2tmo - only d2att. So, I messed around with the install script and loaded the newer recovery on my phone. External SD problem solved.

Okay so I am researching how to do it and I believe I understand BUT the T-mobile TW file I have has to be flashed through ODIN, it's not a zip, and I want CM to be my stock ROM. So I was searching for a 4.1.2 TW rom (I prefer that version) and couldn't find any zip files...
Do you know how to help me? Do you know where to find a stock .zip flashable through recovery?

The multi boot recovery won't "find" your CM ROM - it will always be the "internal" ROM. Multi boot will only show secondary ROMs in the multi boot menu. Anytime you want to boot CM, just boot the internal ROM.
Give me some time and I'll do a video on how to set up multiple ROMs.

I couldn't install it on the internal storage directory. So I ADB pushed the files to the /tmp folder and installed it off that and I finally have it working!

Would it be possible for me to use a 4.3+ ROM using multiboot? I have the old boot loader or whatever that came with 4.1.2 along with those modems etc.
If it's possible to run a 4.4.4 aosp ROM on the old boot loader how come you can't run newer versions of TW? If there is a ROM I can use along 4.1.2 that'd be nice.
TW roms have Knox.

To be honest, I don't know. From what I've read, some of the 4.3 ROMS don't play nicely with MultiBoot. I haven't given it a try yet. If you're willing to give it try, please let me know what you find. The good new is, if you try it as a secondary ROM and it doesn't work, you can just delete it.
