Hello there,
since 4.0.4 wasn't coming to my phone, I've flashed the stock image from google on my GNexus. I was wondering if, having unlocked and re-locked the bootloader, my warranty is void, or if it is back on.
Thanks in advance
Doesn't rooting already void ur warranty?

As long as you put stock from and relock bootloader, no one can tell you've done anything to your phone or voided your warranty.
Just like an iPhone jailbreaking voids your warranty until you restore it back to official firmware.
Galaxy Nexus GSM
You can always return to stock and lock the bootloader. No one will be able to tell you've done anything to the phone at that point.
I send my SGN in for repair after reflashing the stock image and relocking the bootloader. And there were no complaints that my warranty is void. So I asume there is no flash counter like on the SGS2.
Alright! Great to hear
Thanks a lot for all the replies =)
Oh, that's great to hear!
I have a similar question...If you were to be lazy and not relock the bootloader, would the people at a local VZW really know? I mean, in the past, I have seen people take rooted and Rom'd HTC phones to sprint and easily gotten replacements.

They probably wouldn't know... but how the hell lazy are you? Connect the phone to a PC and type "fastboot oem lock" into the command window. There's absolutely no reason not to lock the bootloader before sending it back in.

if they have 1/2 a brain, yes they can tell the bootloader is unlocked... since there's a picture of a unlocked lock.
As I wrote before I send my phone in for repair and relocked it before. Today I got my phone back and when I turned it on it was unlocked. I think they don't care about unlocked bootloaders as long as the issue is not caused by onlocking the bootloader.
They should be able to tell whether ur bootloader is locked. It changes one of the codes. For my w8 it changes Rxxxxxx (locked) to rxxxxxx( unlocked) so as long as they check ur warranty is as good as dead

unlocking and relocking the bootloader is extremely easy guys....
I had an issue with my stock recovery ....so I had to unlock by bootloader ..then flash the stock recovery image ...and then relock my bootloader.... all this took under 10 mins...
and yes once you relock..its relocked...

Why bother even relocking it, if you need to unlock it again you'll have to wipe your internal storage.

no, you can't unlock the bootloader (well that was what other people said when I asked, last year)
but there might be a new method to unlock it...if there is...then I NEED to do it
hey guys, after much searching and finding different and none conclusive answers, i have have to ask this, bootloader unlock allowed:no i understand thats linked to the disabled fastboot feature which is somehow related to the simlock, anyhoo ive removed my simlock via nck, ive not yet performed a clean flash (if that would even work) but is there a way for me to now enable fastboot on my device or should i accept its a no go?
Some have claimed a sim unlock unlocks the loader but there is no proof, if you're locked youre locked, just get a different device honestly

thank you for your response, i might trade in then, just startin out at development, need 2 ditch stock to progress with the learning lol
I originally had an xperia c1905 but cross flashed c2005 FW onto my device. What i find really annoying is that when i open the configuration in the service menu i find out that i cannot unlock the bootloader, ie, bootloader unlock allowed no. I haver read online and i have researched it, but other posts were made in 2013, i thought id ask ahain in 2014. Is there any possible way whatsoever of unlocking my phone's bootloader? will i ever be able to do it? Are there any modern ways that i might have missed?
Guys please dont tell me to send my phone to sony and they will unlock it for me. I have already tried it, but fot no response from sony. I have even contacted o2( my sim carrier) and asked about information on how to unlock, they told me that they cannot comment on that subject.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
If u have any information, i need your help, thank you!

As far as I know, no way of unlocking your bootloader if it says no. You still can try the regular bootloader unlocking procedure method, the only thing that may occur is it not working...
Or it can brick the device just leave it for now and wait for the time being there might be a way of doing it if it gets found if not the new firmware that's getting released shortly might lift the ban off the bootloader

I have the same problem. Please somebody need to find a way to unlock it. I bought my phone from Orange. I flashed the stock Sony's firmware and rooted it. I can't flash any CyanogenMod :crying: My old Galaxy Ace hasn't got any locks or something, installing custom roms was easy, but on this phone for me it's almost imposible...
I stumbled on a post on the Sony Talk forums the other day that stated if you carrier unlock your phone (so you can use any SIM card) and then flash an unbranded ROM the bootloader unlock status changes from No to Yes. This statement was made by a moderator on the forums and I have no idea how well the procedure will work.
Oh, the post was regarding the Z too so I'm not sure if it applies to the M.

I've read around, and have come to the conclusion that I would need to pay someone to unlock my boot loader. Who here provides this service?
