Has anyone had an issue with the phone not holding the lte signal? If I toggle airplane mode or reboot it'll pick up lte for about 3-4 min then it drops to 3g

weird I never had an issue with holding a LTE connection. Even when I travel to areas that dont have 4G or even 3G, when I get back near good coverage it will automatically switch back. Sense or AOSP ROM?

Both. I was traveling this week I wonder if the xray fried my sim

Very possible! Its at least worth a try with another SIM.
BTW, I remember you from the VZW S4. You still Deving?

Yes I am. I'm involved with team gummy. I have a aosp kernel for One also. I put my SIM in my razr m when I got home last night and it only picked up 3g. So it is most definitely the SIM.

Sprint 3g while on phone call

Ok i thought someone posted this before but it had turned up to be a cm9 bug. Well im running the phantom blazers Rom version 1.4 and i was talking on the phone using GPS and missed my turn. It rerouted me with no data connection error. I then opened up the browser and went to xda's website with no issues. Actually seemed faster then normal. Click on a new thread that i have never been on and pulled it up no problem. I am in Ohio so no lte plus it's disabled. What's the deal?? It showed 3g the whole time.....

Turn on LTE

Does anyone have the link handy for the post on how to activate LTE on the Note 2 (by popping out your sim) ? I searched for it, but didnt find it for some reason.

That's not really turning on lte. I believe it was just to have LTE as a option, but it's not like it'll do you any good.
Sent from my SGH-T889
Why wouldn't do me any good if I had the option to select it? I live in Vegas they keep turning it on and off while they test it. I was at the T Mobile store today and one of the reps had their Note running on LTE.

I guess we gotta wait on a leak for this ota then. I was thinking we were ready to roll without any mods but I guess not...
There's already a person with it activated in a test device. He said it has new apns and is based on android 4.1.2, so when you see that update we will have LTE. Right now it is currently only going to be active in Las Vegas, and Kansas City.
There is a CM10 ROM that is suposedly gonna have LTE capablilties. I have not yet tested it but I may at a later date.

I went to *#22693# and came across an LTE option on my T-Mobile Note 2, has it always been there? I thought the bands were not enabled yet.
Currently on LL4 .
Curious, when lte comes out, would it consume a lot more battery power than the current 4g?
And what if your on rooted rom? Will the option be there or will you need to revert to stock for the OTA ?

Tbh id rather wait for the tmobile lte than try and use att. I had my friend at work run speedtest on his and its not much more faster than our hspa+ right now.
My connection on average is around 13-15mps, ive peaked at 22mps too before. The att one that was ran was at about 19mps. Since att is realease 9 lte and tmobile is said to be releasing release 10 lte. Im going to wait and see.
Hopefully the 2 people here can post their speeds with the test devices to see what we can look forward too.

If your connected to LTE you should see about an 30 min to an hour less of battery life, if your connected to "4G" (3G) but your phone is constantly searching for a LTE signal you going to lose about 1:30-2 hours.
I just bought some batteries to deal with this

Any news on LTE in Vegas? Can you post your screens of ServiceMode or speedtests?
THanks
Thanks that explains why my battery life has been fluctuating. Even when I am connected to 3G my phone still displays 4G and the battery life consumed is the same when I am connected to either type. Is there anyway to turn on the data connection automatically whenever a particular app requires it?

At&t lte users

Ok so I thought I'd contribute a bit and start a topic regarding what people thought of AT&T's LTE network.
I got an iPhone 5 the day they came out and was getting some amazing speeds. Like 15 Mbps down and 6 Mbps up. But within a few weeks of having my phone I started noticing dramatic drops. I live on Los Angeles and in the city I now get 2-3 down and less than 1 up. So what I would do with my iPhone was turn off LTE and too my surprise the 4g network was doing leaps and bounds better. About 6-8 down but still less than 1 up.
Now I have my new galaxy note 2 and still don't have the best of LTE but 4g is still giving me the high downloads I was seeing on my iPhone 5. So for the most part I keep my LTE shut off on my phone though turning it on and off isn't as easy to do on android as it was on my iPhone. Unless anyone knows a toggle I can add some how?
Anyways just thought I'd start this little discussion to see what everyone else thought about their LTE in their area. Personally I think it's a joke how expensive AT&T is and how poor quality their bandwidth is. If it's gonna be expensive it ought to work great. But I guess that's just how things go with all carriers. Well love to read your guys' thoughts.

I get no more than 12mb down/9mb up in Margate/Coconut Creek/Boca Raton, FL area and that is at NIGHT when no one is on. During the day, the HSPA+ is faster.
I usually get 10-15 mbps in Tulsa Ok. I have seen 50+ a couple times. Unfortunately I don't get LTE anywhere I go on a daily basis. I can get it by going 2 blocks south of my house, but my daily commute takes me north away from any coverage. Still happy enough with hspa+ as I usually get 4-5 mbps which is plenty fast to do anything I really need to do on my phone.

LTE to 3G

So im really not sure.. Baseically the m7 switches from lte to 3g after awhile and never switches back even on stock rom
Ive flashed stock and factory it, still didnt fix
Ive flashed original radios and rom, still nothing
Ive called verizon they have "refreshed" my connection.. Still no dice
Ive always gotten lte anywhere i went, just dont understand why its acting this way
Anything else to try?

Try turning off your data, turning on airplane mode, then turning data back on and turning off airplane mode. That normally works for me. It gets the phone to rescan for towers, and it switches back over to 4G.
If the new SIM works let me know, I might have to try that.

It could also just be a weak 4G signal. Notice how Verizon likes to brag about their coverage but not speed; that's because they put up a few antennas every few miles and run them at high power. The LTE network just isn't as dense as 3G, so you have these signal gaps everywhere where the phone is on the border line between 3G and 4G. AT&T and T-Mobile stomp all over Verizon's 4G where they have coverage.

Losing lte on a call, then doesn't come back.

I guess T-Mobile recently updated my tower to lte in past couple weeks. I'm rocking some great speeds, but when I get a phone call it drops the lte and goes back to 4g.
It stays in 4g after I get off the phone and doesn't come back. I have restarted... gone in and out of flight mode. Nothing... when I leave the area and come back or wake up in the morning... then I get lte back again.
Any idea on this?
I'm rooted, stock, wanam, uninstalled knox and carrier iq btw.
Thanks for any assistance

You can't make phone calls on LTE yet with T-Mobile. Thats why it drops to 4g(HSPA+) which allows calls. Not sure why it would not go back to LTE, maybe a sim card problem or a phone problem. I do not have any problems with going from 4g to LTE after calls. I have wanam, no knox, and no carrier iq as well. Are you on stock rom or a moded stock rom. Have you just removed knox and carrirer iq on stock rom?
I'm stock. It could actually be a SIM card issue. I'm using the same SIM card I had from my old galaxy s. I had to cut it to fit the note. Hmmm.. I think that's as good as any place to start.
It could also just be this tower is finicky. Maybe it's not 100% up and running yet. Just wish it would lock onto lte after the call again. It's so choice having those speeds!
Thanks for the SIM suggestion. I'll let you know how it goes.

Is your lte connection stronger than your 4g connection. Because even though it may be faster it always goes with the most reliable connection.
If I know I have lte I just quickly go into dialer and change it to lte only and then back to lte/wcdma and it'll stick to lte afterwards

Couldnt one simply use 4G toggle app?
I tried toggling 4G... going into and out of flight mode... taking the battery out and restarting... going into GSM only and then back to auto select.. Nothing worked.
The method I described above apparently forces LTE only mode and somehow causes it to stick on LTE after going back to Automatic.
I've been doing it all day with great success. It would be nice if it automatic went back to LTE, but in the meantime this is a solution where there wasn't one before.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
It's because they just recently updated the tower. I was having the same issue in my area. I thought it was the phone and had it replaced. I finally spoke to someone at T-Mobile who knew what they were talking about. He said that it takes them months to tweak the tower until they get the optimum signal. Once that happens, you should go back to LTE after a call.
