carbonrom alternatives - LG Optimus G Pro

carbonrom is the first rom I've been able to run other than stock. used some touchwiz roms on my s4 but they sucked. I'm completely happy with carbonrom but I was wondering if anyone could suggest others that are as good as carbonrom.. just so I could try out a couple more or should I stay with this since I like it? let me know

[Q] A Few Questions

I've been wondering....
1. Is there any really close 4.2.2 or 4.3 TouchWiz rom's yet that have S-Apps on it yet?
2. If not what is the best, or closest TouchWiz-esque 4.2.2 or 4.3 rom?
I just just feel like all CM, AOK/SP roms feel naked Without TouchWiz or S-Apps, yes I know there's some alternative S-Apps for CM, AoK/SP roms.
3. Has anyone thought of trying to incorporate ChameleonOS With TouchWiz like the MyMiUi?
4. And there really still is no sign or mention of a Official Sammy 4.2.2 or 4.3 for us yet is there?
I wanna upgrade to 4.2.2 or 4.3, but I don't wanna TouchWiz and keep looking at my rom/phone feeling like something is lacking or missing from it.
For a touchwiz Rom I like cleanrom 5. If you want an aosp Rom go with slimroms or beanstalk

OMNIROM

Is someone building a gnex omnirom build for our device? It seems easy to do and i read that it should work normally on gnex, but nobody tested it yet
I also want to get this rom, as currently cyanogenmod is not like it used to be...
2 plans for me, go to stock when 4.4 is out or use Omnirom, but don't know the time for either...

New to Android

Hi guys, need your help. I am coming over from the iPhone. Just ordered a used S3 for my first Android phone and very excited.
It should arrive this week and I would like to have it rooted. I would like to also install the latest stable Cyanogenmod release for this phone. Is it 10.2?
I have never rooted a phone or loaded any roms. I am having trouble finding the CM rom that's the latest most stable one. I just see a bunch of different names and have no clue which one I need. Can you guys recommend something?
Can someone point me in the right direction? I would like something quick, good battery life, and good for a daily driver. I saw a youtube video that showed Cyanogenmod as most closest to stock and very stable.
I would really appreciate your help. thanks in advance

That's a one-stop shop for S3, rooting and flashing custom recovery. Check that thread and follow the instructions there. You need to root your phone first and then flash a custom recovery like TWRP, before you can flash Custom ROM's like CM 10.2
Yes CM 10.2 is the latest version of CM with Android 4.3. CM 11 with 4.4 Kitkat is also in for S3, but dont expect it to be stable.
Also, release that there are lots of ROM's based on CM source, so they should work fine too. There are other very good custom ROM's like Carbon, Paranoid Android etc which offer unique features, while there are hybrid ROM's that combine features from all these. You need to try different ones to see what works best for you.
Also, refer to this video and others from that channel.

I suggest you take time to read, then take time to try all the roms here, as they are all good.
As we do not encourage arguments over which rom is best or is "most stable" I am going to close this thread, please take time to read what is being offered in the development areas, and welcome to android phones.

[Q] Official 4.4.2 vs CM 11.0 Nightly

Hi guys,
Just wondering how does the Samsung 4.4.2 official ROM compare with CyanogenMod 11.0 nightly builds (or any other AOSP ROMs)? If anyone of you had the experience from both worlds I would appreciate if he could develop his thoughts. Having run CM11 for few months, I don't see the point yet of reverting back to the official ROM. I understand it's a bit too early in order to draw conclusions from the recent Samsung 4.4.2 ROM.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks.
The best option is to try both options and compare them yourself. Everyone can have different experiences based on individual configurations.
Asking for comparisons between ROMs us against xda rules. It potentially causes arguments so I've closed this. Good luck with which ever you choose. Stock or other.

[Q]Stable Custom ROM

Dear All,
I'm looking for stable custom rom (if possible lollipop/marshmallow) for my e988 4g KitKat device, especially that can save battery usage. Do you guys have any refference?
There are so many custom rom but i'm difficult to find the plus and minus side of those rom.
Ive been looking to cm site, but unfortunately they are not available anymore
Thankyou
Look, most AOSP ROMs have same issues: camera crashes, bluetooth connection problems etc. etc. Everything else is pretty much same. People were mostly using SlimLP and Carbon, some used Bliss but I think there is no download link for it. Slim and Carbon use a bit more customizable kernel (dave used my kernel for as long as he built Carbon, and SlimLP has just a bit newer version of it, with GPU issues fixed completely).
My choices were Slim and (later, after Slim stopped updating their Lollipop sources) PAC (built for personal needs, no uploads) so if you want AOSP, go with SlimLP or Carbon. Carbon was working nicely too, and last time I had Bliss installed was somewhere after Lollipop just started, so can't judge how last versions worked.
If any of this is not good enough, try any of these stock roms, if any still available. I can't recommend anything from there simply because I never wanted to use those - if stock was that good, I'd stay on it
P.S. This device never received Marshmallow updates due to insane amount of work someone had to provide. I had few attempts but never moved over some issues with modem. More in the forums...
Thank you for the explanation, i will look more for Carbon in Android Development threads.

Were there any MM kernels ever compiled that you know of? Could someone with enough time and work be able to successfully compile a working rom? A bit of a developing noob, but have two E980s and plenty of time on my hands.

Yes, mine I was probably only one who worked on Marshmallow, but sources are now long gone, drive I've kept my repo is dead and I haven't uploaded that anywhere.
I've been using Carbon KK for several months and it is very stable and smooth. I've never used MM so not sure how it compares, but it has all the features I need to keep using this phone every day.

Resurrection Remix 5.5.9 + WildKernel works quite good for me on E986
