Being the one that turned most of you on to XtremeGuard screen and full body protectors with that crazy deal they had going for 75% off and free shipping here in the States, I think I need to do my own review of the product so here goes.
Battery cover
First and foremost, yes the cut of this cover allows for removal of the battery cover. Upon initial inspection of the cover I noticed some black specs along the edges as most others have mentioned. As for the cut of the cover, it's not perfect but it's close enough to where I didn't need to modify or cut it in any way to allow it to fit. I don't know how they go about cutting these things but one area they can improve on would be the cuts, I'd like to see more clean, smooth and precise cuts free of "hiccups" or jagged edges. One are in particular that stands out is the area around the charging port, will post pics once the cover is done curing. Another is the corners...I don't know what, if anything, can be done to decrease the gap around the corners but I'd like to see that exposed area there made smaller as well. Lastly, the area that surrounds the camera, speaker and flash is cut with some pecuilar angles I'd guess to ensure maximum coverage. I would prefer something that follows the contours and general shape of the items in that area more closely....those items in that area have more of a rounded square shape so I think if that cutout followed the same outline it would be much more uniform and cosmetically appealing.
Installation:
The install is very straight forward, relatively easy, but requires patience.
Prep
Gather up a small bowl, something just large enough for you to dip you fingers in freely, a microfiber towel (a cleaning cloth that came with a screen protector will suffice), some soap (I prefer Johnson & Johnson Baby shampoo), the squeegee that came with your protector and of course, the protector itself.
This was my first time installing the full body protector and I wanted to minimize dust contamination so I followed the advice of one of our more experienced members and did the install in my bathroom with it all steamed up from the hot shower I had running. I forget his name, sorry, but if you read this let me know and I'll credit you The idea behind doing this is that the steam and humidity in the room will hold the dust down. So after steaming up the room (I just let the shower run the whole time honestly, about 10-15 minutes) I washed my hands and cleaned off the protector under warm tap water to try and get rid of as many of those black specs as possible, removed the cutout for the camera, speaker and flash. Dried off my hands one I was happy with the results and cleaned the battery cover, which of course had been removed from the phone, making sure not to get any fingerprints on it. Set that aside and fill up your bowl with warm water (1 cup is plenty) and add a drop or two of baby shampoo, gently stirring it in the water to avoid bubbles. Dip all your fingers in the water and then peel the backing off the protector, then dip the protector in the bowl to coat it with the mixture and lay it down on the battery cover. No need to be precise with this initial placement, but precise enough to ensure the cover doesn't touch anything else like the counter. I'd suggest laying it down from top to bottom, this will ensure minimal air bubbles get trapped under there. Once it's on there you'll be able to move it around to get it where it needs to be and once you do so you can begin working it to get out as much of the water and bubbles as possible. Because of the way I laid it down I had very little air bubbles or water trapped under there so I decided I'd just use my fingers, didn't use the squeegee at all but you can if you choose. Instead of rubbing or dragging my fingers across the protector, which can cause it to move ever so slightly, I "rolled" my fingers in the trouble areas where I seen an air bubble or gathering of moisture. Once I spotted the area I would take my thumb and set it down on it's side, just off to the side of the area, and roll it over the area as if taking a fingerprint. Don't be shy, press as hard as need be. I prefer this technique as it virtually eliminates any marring of the protector and ensures it stays in place at the same time. You will spend much of this time trying to get the corners and the top/bottom edges to lay down, take your time. You may even need to hold said areas down for a few minutes each but they will eventually start to hold. After you think you've got it, recheck your work and make sure you have no lifted edges and that everything is lined up nicely and set it aside. I put mine out in the direct sunlight for a couple hours to help speed up the process.
Screen protector
Preinspection turned up some black particles again, grrrr.....This is a QC issue and i'm going to bring it up to them and hope they make the changes needed to ensure it gets rectified. Not a big deal though, just washed it off as best as i could before installing. The cuts again aren't the ultimate in precision but it does cover the whole screen....just for clarity, there are cutouts for the earpiece, one of the sensors up top and the home button, these cutouts are in the shape of a U so there are exposed areas where those cutouts are. But top to bottom, side to side, the whole screen, beveled edge and all, are covered except for those areas. The only thing I did differently is applied a piece of scotch tape over the camera lens...this was to prevent possible damage to it as I had the phone sitting on the counter at the beginning of the install. Install is the same as listed above, however this time I did use the squeegee because I had to lift the protector once after the initial lay down which caused much more air bubbles and water pockets. So once I got the protector in place by sliding it around I grabbed the cleaning cloth and pressed down firmly on the area by the earpiece and home button to absorb as much water from those areas as possible and using the squeegee I worked it side to side to minimize the water concentration around those two areas, making sure to absorb any significant water being expelled during the process. MAKE SURE TO DRY YOUR HANDS AFTER GETTING THE INITIAL LAY DOWN DONE! You will be handling the phone and don't want wet fingers touching your SIM card or microSD card slots, let alone the battery connectors. After getting 99% of the water/bubbles out and being happy with the coverage of the protector I used the cloth to absorb any water build up along the edges and to ensure the protector was pressed down nicely all along the outside edge of the screen. This was a much quicker install, maybe 5 minutes. It is not resting outside next to the battery cover in direct sunlight to expedite the curing process.
Pics will be posted once the curing process is done, most likely not until late this evening or even tomorrow.

It takes many hours for these to cure, at least 8. I'm setting mine out in direct sunlight to expedite the process but still, don't expect pics until late tonight or tomorrow.

Nah, I'd have pushed you aside and showed you how to do it in 5 minutes
I used J&J when I installed the XG on my Atrix 2 and it worked out nicely so it's gonna be my go to soap for this until it somehow shows me it's not worthy.
Well, looks like i'm gonna have to peel this one off and go at it again. I got 2 specks of dust on the screen, one close to the middle and one on the bottom right Other than that, looks good and feels good too. No distortion, banding or any other clarity defects. It's not quite the smooth as glass finish as the one on my Atrix 2 but it's very, very close. No orange peel or anything like that but if you look close enough at an angle in direct light reflections you can see some very slight texture. If it weren't for that damn specs of dust, I'd be satisfied.
After using the TriboScreen for a week I kind of like the feel of those. The feel of these wet application protectors is a bit tacky, not enough to impede using the screen but not nearly as slick and smooth as the dry application type. Not really an issue to me if the protector covers every square inch of the screen since I have a Silicrylic case on it so i'm strongly considering giving a dry application protector another shot since I have 2 more XtremeGuards which I can always fall back on if need be.
Any suggestions on a nice dry application protector?

Turn on the shower and get some steam going it the popular method.
BTW anyone reading this, if you miss any of the coupon sales, ebay has the full body for $4 delivered http://www.ebay.com/itm/XtremeGuard...ccessories&hash=item35bcdc39ee#ht_3731wt_1270
EDIT: I think I am either addicted to these or to saving, ordered 5 more FULL Body protectors. Who can pass it up, delivered for $10! (that's a total so far of 7 full and 7 screen I've ordered, at $1 per screen and $2 full, it's cheap!)

I like the XG too, it would be perfect if not for the 2 specs of dust that got caught under it, grrrr. I just wish it were more invisible cause when tilted at an angle I can see some superfine texture....cant feel it, its more like waves or swirls in the material itself instead of being completely transparent. Think im gonna try a different one to see if there's better out there.

I may, but not now. Going with Realook.
My XG is now fully cured and bubble free aside from those two specs of dust that got in there. I've got that rainbow banding something fierce, all over the screen, its bad Gonna slap on the protector that came with my case to see how that is, this one's gotta go, cant even wait till my Realook's get here. Very disappointed

Here are a few pictures of the Diztronic case I just recieved today from Amazon. Total with shipping came out to $15. Which I think is a decent value for this case.
I have the Spigen Ultra Clear screen protector on the phone. As a side note the Spigen screen protector is the best I have used, this is the first time I have used this brand, I definitely recommend them. In the corners, if you press the case into the phone the screen protector starts to lift just slightly at the edge, do to pushing against the edge of the screen protector. On the sides the case seems to sit more on top of the screen protector and does not lift the film from the glass.
The case fits the phone very well and doesn't provide to much added bulk, which was important to me. The phone does feel noticeably wider than it has since I've been using the phone with no case till now. This is the first time I have used a case at all on any of my phones, I'm one to enjoy the original look and feel of a phone versus covering it up. This phone is probably the best looking of any phone I have had and probably any phone out there right now. But I do feel like it needs a little extra protection, which this case adds. The charcoal gray color is nice too and the feel is a soft touch plastic feel. The matte finish helps with finger prints too. The case is flexible, but stiffer than the silicone cases I've seen. The case has a black glossy ring around the top lip, which adds a nice detail to it.
Overall I would recommend this case to anyone looking for something fairly thin and discrete and of good build quality. If you have any other questions let me know. Hopefully the pictures help this review a bit more too.

Do you have the Otterbox and have you used them ever? I'd love a quick comparison if possible! That's what I was going to get but I just want better protection with minimal thickness.

Bought the Otterbox from sprint store with the phone, but immediately jumped on the Diztronic case on black friday release date. I have had a Diztronic case for my Epic 4G Touch before and it looked nice plus saved my phone on quite a few falls. However, it is not an otterbox bomb shell...
Really happy with how the Diztronic case fits on the LGOG and it is more protected than naked. I guess if you want a sleek case, that offers some protection, I will recommend Diztronic... However, if you feel your history with phones is quite harsh, then go with the extra size and protection of Otterbox.
FYI.. I returned the Otterbox as I never used the screen protector and was within 2 weeks of purchase... Very happy with with my Diztronic case.
Wow that's one boring looking case; I guess since they think the Optimus G looks boring, it's only natural...

I have the same combination of the Diztronic case and the Spigen screen protectors and overall am pretty happy with them. Short of a simple bumper, I don't think you can get any more minimal as far as cases go than this one and still provide some basic protection. Without the case, I always felt as if I was going to drop the phone (feels slippery IMO) but now that I have the case, I feel much more reassured that it is not going to slip out of my hands. I had a Diztronic case on my previous device for over a year and it held up well and so I am expecting nothing less from this one. The black color matches well with the phone, looks pretty professional, and the buttons are easy to push.
I do have a pair of high-end earphones (Etymotic ER-4P) that cannot connect to the phone though due to the connector's surrounding plastic being too thick / the case's headphone cutout being not wide enough to accommodate my earphones' connector. I've had these earphones for several years and while this case's headphone connector cutout seems like a decent size, this is the first time I've come across a case that has blocked the use of my earphones. To fix it, I guess I could have just gone ahead and taken an exacto knife to the case but I went ahead and purchased a simple short headphone extension cable and I anticipate that will solve the issue. The only other thing I don't like is I wish Diztronic would just stick to a simple logo branding on the back of the case instead of writing out the entire name of the company + the logo (seems like overkill).
This is also my first use of the Spigen screen protectors (normally use Boxwave but they were unavailable when I checked) and so far so good, seems like a pretty comparable product to the Boxwave one.
Ordered one of these cases yesterday

No, and be aware, the case may push at the sides/corner of your screen protector which causes it to lift up. Other than that, I really like the case.
Was just informed my diztronic case had arrived at my house. Ill do a quick review when i get home from work. Cant wait to check it out

I like the case a lot so far. The case is a little tight but not as tight as the body glove case. Also much thinner then the commuter case. Love the matte feel of the case and its paired extremely well with my anti-glare screen protector. But it IS making my screen protector bubble up a little but not too bad.
Overall satisfied with the case and I'm sure it will loosen up after having it on for a little while.

Got the Diztronic this morning. Quality is amazing. Slightly tight fit on the phone, but I am sure that it will work in some if I remove it a couple times.
Feel of the case is almost slick with the texture that is on it. Hopefully that will wear in a bit.
My only complaint is the gate location from how it was molded. It could have been placed better in a less visible area than a corner.
Jus got it today and its actually better then i thought it would be, really nice fit and it doesnt feel bulky at all like an otterbox, i would only get one of those if it came with the belt clip but currently they dont offer those yet for our phone, otherwise this is a really good case

You can already buy cases with belt clips, but they are generic. Just search ebay for "ls970 case belt clip -leather -pouch"
I just ordered mine, it should be here by the weekend.

As requested by Cruzerlite This is the "official" Cruzerlite case thread. Please post your reviews, thoughts, pros-cons, and videos here for discussion(nice and organized).
I love this case. I was using the diatonic matte before this and I like this one a lot more. The feel of it is awesome and it looks great. I just echo what everyone else is saying, cruzerlite cases are the best and are worth every penny. I may buy some more, I wouldn't mind having a grey one that is a little translucent.
Here are some pictures (note the pictures don't to it justice, you need to hold it and see it in person)
Buy it, you won't regret it!

Well, I just received my Cruzerlite case in the mail and slipped it on my S4 Active!.
First thing that stands out is how tight the fitment is. This case fits like a glove, imparting a sturdier, more quality feel in the hand than my Diztronic case. Second, the texture of the case is great. It's a little grippier than my other black matte TPU case, but without sticking in the pocket, thanks to the matte finish on the back.
I opted for the for the gray clear color which is exactly what you'd expect. My Active is a business phone so I opted for the plain jane case, but I like the look enough to get one of the brighter Cruzerlite cases for weekend duty. The etched android circuit board on the back actually looks pretty cool and adds a little flair, plus it feels good in the hand. Another pro is the raised lip on the front of the case give an extra measure of protection to the screen over the Diztronic's lip. Overall, I get the impression that the Cruzerlite case would do a little better on an accidental drop than the Diztronic, but that might just be due to the overall quality of the fit. If you're a chronic dropper, obviously you'd want to go for a harder case.
The only cons I have come up with during my brief time with this case are more personal preferences: I prefer having a solid case over the volume and power buttons, similar to the Diztronic, whereas the Cruzerlite opts for cutouts. I will see if over time I come to prefer the cutout, but to me it takes away from the "seamlessness" of a case and just seems like another entry point for sand, water, etc., to enter the case and possibly the phone. I know, I know, our phone is supposed to be resistant to those things, but why push it? The second minor issue I have is that the mic and IR blaster cutouts are bit off center. They are just on the edge of being partially obstructed. I tried to shift the case around to try and center it better but had no luck. I don't think that performance will be affected but it's flirting with the tolerance level. I believe this may be beta unit, so perhaps that will be tightened up a bit as production ramps up...which I hope it will because this is a great case and a great phone!
Thanks to Chad Oakley and Jason at Cruzerlite for sending me a sample of their upcoming Cruzerlite S4 Active Case!
I just recieved my case in the mail today as well and I'm really liking it! It's nice and slim, exactly how I like my cases. I had another slim tpu case on before this and I already prefer the Cruzerlite. It's definately more grippy which is nice as I prefer not to throw my phone on the ground. I'm diggin that you can see through the case so you can see the nice patterned case on the phone. The ridges on the sides of the case give you a nice tactile grip. All the buttons are nice and accessible which is always nice. Of course the big android on the back is cool, a nice subtle styling to the case which doesn't go overboard. A nice benefit is that it fits in a holster that I got with another slim case on ebay. I hike a lot so it's nice to be able to attach it to my pack. It slides right in, snug. I'm positive this case should fit in most slim case holsters.
Overall, I'm really liking this case so far and it's going to be staying on my phone.
A big thanks to Cruzerlite for sending me a nice case to test out, it's great! I will report back on any more findings in the future.
I purchased their bug droid exo case. at first I really liked it the protection was good but i had to get a refund the dirt just sticks to it like glue ( heres a pic) cruzerlite offered a replacement but it never came i got tired of waiting and calling them so i had to get a full refund. I didnt like their costumer service the only way to contact them was through txt messages and even then it took them a day to reply back. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80505191/20130808_142715.jpg its a good case just dont get the white/black.
Ok, here goes my review for the Cruzerlite case I received today. I was going to wait a couple of days to do my review but I have gotten a good enough feel of it today to go ahead and post it. I received a blue bugdroid case as you can see. The lighting in my house doesn't really show how good the blue looks in the photos I uploaded. I always buy black cases so this is the first colored case I have had for a phone and I'm extremely happy they sent me blue. It fits the phone perfectly. At first I wasnt sure how it was going to be with the volume and the power buttons cut out but I can access them without any problems. The charging port is very accessible as well. The overall feel of case in your hand is nice and comfortable. It's not too bulky and it has a good grip to it. I am really overwhelmed with how this case fits and how good the blue color looks on my Active. To the guys at Cruzerlite I would like to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a tester. I'm truly impressed with what you guys have done for this phone. I give it a 10 out of 10. I recommend this case for anyone that owns a Active.
Edit: I'm not very happy with the pictures I took of this case. They really don't show how good that blue looks. I took them at midnight in my kitchen. During the day tomorrow I'm going to try and take some more that have better lighting and I'll post them back here in this thread.
Edit Again: I tried to take better pictures with no success. Take my word for it though, the blue is a good color for the Active.
Just got my Cruzerlite Androidified case for my S4 Active in the mail today. I have a Body Guardz glass screen shield on the phone. As compared to the Diztronic, the Cruzerlite case wraps further around the front of the phone. Where before you could see the edge of the screen protector, now it is only visible on the top due to the speaker cutouts.
The case installed as easily as you might expect, and I like the soft texture of the inside of it. I also like the smooth and matte combination of the back. As you can see, I got a black case, which made it a bit hard to photograph, but hopefully you guys can see what you want to see from the pics. I took a pic as it showed up, tried to get a pic of that soft texture inside the case, and then several pics of the phone in the case as well as close ups of the buttons and stuff.
Speaking of buttons and stuff, all the holes lined up perfectly, and there is a little lip around the camera on the back which is bigger than the Diztronic case and hopefully will protect the camera better. As you can see, there is no covering for the buttons and I am not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand, I'd prefer the buttons be covered, but on the other maybe it will stop my inadvertent pressing of buttons when the phone is in my pocket.
Bump. It's there any more people needing to give a review? I'd like to see some other colors.

Hey guys been busy, finally got around to doing the review of this case. I must say I'm very impressed! I figured it would just be a generic case I could use until Best Buy finally got a Otterbox or the like, but it exceeded my expectations. It fits very snug all the way around and my biggest fear of the charging port being hard to access due to the cover was addressed very well.
As you can see the area around the bottom of the charging port cover is cut out far enough behind the indent where you open it that it doesn't get in the way.
There is some dust in my photos because I put the case on the phone and used it at work this week around a LOT of dust. Here is a pic of the inside. Dirt mainly got in the top left corner. This may be due to the headphone cutout not being quite big enough for the plug in my car. It wasn't plugged in around dirt but maybe this made the area loose. Yeah I know this isn't supposed to be an airtight lifeproof case or anything but I thought it did pretty well.
Here is the headphone jack area. It is already raised up like that, but it might have been made worse by my use. The IR blaster and I'm guessing that's a mic are fairly aligned. I have used the IR with the case on and it works just as well/badly as it did with it off.
Side view shows the branding and large cutout for the volume rocker. As you can see, the glossy sides will attract fingerprints unlike the back.
The other side has another large cutout for the power button. You can see the area around the camera is slightly raised.
It is also well centered and the bezel area around the camera lens is raised. Not only does this protect the lens but it helps the camera lay level, because otherwise it would lean on the headphone cutout slightly sideways. Also notice how the glossy black and the "grey" matte area really match up well with the original colors of the phone.
The speaker is well-aligned and it sounds good flat on a table. The back tapers slightly starting at the speaker, allowing sound to escape. It "throws" the sound out the back and Blood and Thunder sounds a little better with the phone face up on a table than it does holding the phone up.
Lastly I am just relieved that this case allows me to now rest easy when I set the phone down. Of course the back of the case protects everything, but so does the front. If that tiny raised lip on the front of the Active, along with the raised buttons made you cringe when you put it face down, you can relax with this case. It isn't raised too far though. I can still match candy in that stupid game still.
Hope this helps anyone wanting to buy the case. Not sure I would trust it for drop protection but better than no case at all.
I really like the Dive Blue color of the S4 Active, so I opted to have Cruzerlite send me a clear version of the Androidified A2 case to review. Overall, there are four things I look for in a phone case, so here's my take on Cruzerlite's offering:
1. Overall materials and production quality. I've had my fair share of generic TPU cases for phones, and in general they all feel cheap and rubbery to me. I was pleasantly surprised by the Cruzerlite case though, in two ways. First, the TPU material is much nicer than I've experienced with other cases. It's not rubbery at all and feels very high quality. Also, the overall production quality is high, with clean mold lines and no parts left untrimmed (or poorly trimmed).
2. Overall fit. Cruzerlite definitely did its homework with this case, in that it fits the Active perfectly, with all of the port, button and socket cutouts matching up with the phone very well. The phone snaps into the case easily, but doesn't feel loose in it.
3. Color. Cruzerlite offers a good assortment of colors, but I wanted to see how the "clear" version fared. I wouldn't call it "clear" so much as "translucent," in that while it does allow some of the Dive Blue back (and printed-on honeycomb pattern) to show through, it has an overall white color cast. I suspect that this is par for the course with TPU material in general, but calling the color "clear" is a bit of a misnomer; "frost" would perhaps be a better choice.
4. Practicality. While there are a number of well-made, well-fitting cases out there, not all of them are practical for use as a daily driver. I'd been using a Case-Mate Hula for several weeks, and it always made me a bit uneasy that it left the back of the phone exposed, and while it offered some additional grip, I still worried that I'd drop the phone during extensive one-handed operation. I'm not as worred with the Cruzerlite case, partially because of the full TPU back, but also because of the ribbed texture on the sides offering a bit of extra grip. The usability of the phone isn't impacted at all either, since Cruzerlite wisely decided to leave cutouts for the power and volume buttons, instead of trying to do push-through TPU overlay buttons (which tend to be hard to press, or fit so tightly that they press buttons on their own). This definitely feels like a daily driver case to me.
I was on vacation for the last week and saw all these reviews of the case, hoping that when I got home mine would be there. Thankfully it was, I don't know if I could have waited any longer.
Functionally this case is great. It fits the phone nice and tight and the cutouts are almost perfectly placed. Others have mentioned that their IR port may be partially obscured by the case, but mine is dead on. The cutouts for the power button and volume rocker are cut in such a way that I don't have any problems pressing any of the buttons. The bezel on the front is thick enough that when laying face down the menu, home, and back buttons do not touch. This is reassuring knowing that I can set my phone face down and not have to worry about buttons being pressed. This was especially frustrating when the press home to wake function was enabled.
Aesthetically the case is very pleasing, the two-toned colors resemble the originally two-toned design of the S4 Active. The inside of the case even protrudes a little bit to actually fit the bumpers, it's really the little things that make this case great. The two-toned feel is also very nice. The back has a nice matte finish while the edges have a glossy, more tacky feel to them; it is great when holding the phone as it feels very secure in your hand, but isn't so tacky that it is difficult to get out of your pocked. Overall, this case feels and looks great.
I do have a couple suggestions though, all aesthetic. The first thing I noticed is that the case covers only the top frame of the camera, I can see the silver frame on the bottom and sides, but the top is covered. This does not effect camera functionality in any way, but I would suggest enlarging the camera cutout slightly so that the silver frame of the camera can be seen all the way around. Secondly, the cutout for the charging port protrudes a little bit and has sharp corners. I'm not sure what the reason for this is, but I would have thought the cutout would have been similar in shape and feel to the cutout for the power button. Again, it doesn't effect the charging port in any way, I just thing it would feel a little more pleasing in the hand.
Finally as you can see in the pictures I received the white case. On day one it looked really good, but after two days of use it's beginning to show dirt on the back (you can see a couple smudges in the pictures). I'm going to clean it with soap and water, but after two days of use the back is noticeably a shade darker than the inside of the case. If you're planning on getting this case, and you definitely should, I would recommend getting a color other than white if you're concerned about showing dirt.
Overall this case is great and I would recommend it to anybody who has an S4 Active. If the couple of changes I recommended above were implemented I don't know how you could find a better TPU case.
I have it, but for me this look like not complited plastic.

Review
Howdy gang, I wanted to share my thoughts on the Cruzerlite case I have had the opportunity to test. The case I have been testing is the clear Androidified case. I wanted a clear case to show off the awesome blue S4 Active that I own. I have been one to gravitate towards bulky cases like the Otterboxes, but I wanted something a little more trim for the Active. I will break down what I like and don't like in each main section below.
Visuals: Overall I think the case looks awesome. The portion around the edges is truly clear, which lets that glorious blue hue shine through. The back of the case has the familiar 'circuit' design with the android robot, and that is the best part. I am not sure if Cruzerlite did this on purpose, but regardless, they really nailed the design. The background is translucent, while the design itself is completely clear. This lets the blue shine through, and when light hits the back the design almost looks like it is glowing electric blue. It is a pretty neat effect that you kind of have to see in person.
Materials/Build: This is a pretty nice case from what I have experienced as far as TPU cases go. It fits nice and tight and doesn't feel thin or skimpy around the corners like some cases do. It is smooth, but has enough of a rubbery feel to it to have decent grip. The camera cutout has a lip over half of the cutout which helps raise it off the table when set down screen up, but I think they should make go all the way around the cutout, and also add a little strip of material between the camera and flash to cover the camera surround bezel. I also wish they would put a raised lip over the speaker cutout. I have found that other cases that have this sound better when using the speaker with the phone resting screen side up. There is a thin line of flashing around the perimeter that appears to be from the manufacturing process. It is a little distracting, but I am being pretty nit-picky. The clear material can show scuffs so that is a con. It also attracts dirt and deposits it under the lip of the case, which is visible due to the transparency of the case. But if you want a clear case then I suppose it comes with the territory.
Use: I really do enjoy using the case. It is thin and light, but sturdy enough to handle some misuse. I have dropped it once with no ill effect so I can vouch for it's protective properties. There are a few things that I do not like. First, I don't like the cutouts for the power and volume buttons. I would personally like covered buttons with a raised tactile area like the Diztronic case. I think the cutouts make it tough to hit the buttons at times, especially with a large phone like this one. The cases that have covered buttons offer a little more protection and ease of use IMHO. I also don't like the headphone jack cutout. It is too small for two mini jacks I have tested. This is a pet peeve of mine and unfortunately a lot of cases are guilty of this flaw.
Final Impressions: This case rocks. It has a nifty design that really shows off the cool blue S4 Active that lives underneath. It is about the nicest TPU case I have used. With some tweaking I think Cruzerlite could really knock it out of the park. Thanks for reading, and thanks to Cruzerlite for the opportunity!
Fosmon Hybo Snap case for the Moto G - Updated review - built-in protector IS removable!
I mentioned this case in the Moto G case list thread, it arrived today: giving a more detailed review since people requested it
Caveat: Update: Seller promptly refunded the money I had to pay for extra shipping, would purchase again from them. On an annoying note, I got charged an extra $1.13 by the USPS for inadequate shipping by the seller. Filing a complaint with Amazon -- it's a small amount of money, but sellers should not be advertising free shipping if they're going to do that sort of thing.
Cost: $4.50 + additional $1.13 for USPS charged shipping. Seller has since upped the price to $7.95 on Amazon & Ebay.
Onto the case itself:
- Two-piece TPU / polycarbonate shell case, with covered ports and a built-in screen protector
- Put on the TPU part first, then push polycarbonate part on top, then click the TPU flaps in place all around the phone. Extremely easy to both insert and remove the phone into the case.
The case itself does not feel cheap for such an inexpensive case. Both parts fit together very well -- the TPU piece snaps into the hard back and I didn't notice any large gaps or seams or other signs of shoddy workmanship aside from 1 point that I'll get to in a moment.
The TPU is rigid but pliable (not the stiffest TPU I've seen, but somewhat firmer than the rubber band around the official moto G grip shell). It's close to true black (not dark grey) and the sides have a nice texture for good grippiness, with a satin finish overall.
The polycarbonate (hard plastic) back is very matte and has nearly the same texture as the official Moto G backs, albeit a little more "velvety" (smoother feeling, hard to explain). It looks like it will also be a fingerprint magnet as well.
Both the headphone and microUSB ports have covers. The headphone cover is snapped in very securely, but the microUSB cover does not and sits slightly ajar (I'm not sure how it will hold up to repeated opening/closing). There are two small holes on the top and bottom of the case to allow for the two mics (regular mic + (noise reduction?) mic on top).
The back cover raises the camera/flash/logo/speaker off a table surface by around 1mm -- sufficient to prevent scratching, imho.
The buttons remain responsive with the TPU covering them --- in fact I'd say they're more sensitive because they are raised instead of recessed, this could be a plus or minus to you. Hides the jiggliness of my power button.
Updated: I was able to remove the built-in protector easily after cutting the protector in the middle from the cutout for the speaker down near the bottom end --- with it split, gently pulling one of the sides allowed me to smoothly peel off the entire protector with what looked like little or no residue. I am much happier with the case now that I'm able to use it without the built-in protector. Including photos of the peel job + what it looks like (edges of the screen lip, very clean) afterwards.
The built-in screen protector is the part I feel the most ambivalent about. I'm not a fan of built-in protectors in cases normally. This one is typical in that it sits slightly above the surface of the phone (not an adhesive type protector). You will hear a slight "click" when you're tapping on the screen and I find my finger dragging more on the screen. Responsiveness seems to remain the same, however. I had no problem firing off several texts and an email, or navigating through the phone itself. Clarity and color remains the same (included a photo of the phone screen on with the screen protector as a visual) --- the "greenish" tint in the photo is actually just a protective film you remove from the protector prior to installing the case. Does not interfere with the proximity sensor.
Conclusion:
Overall for a case under $10 it seems like a good deal. I'm still annoyed with the shipping issue, but the case itself is pretty solid --- it fits the phone exactly, flaps snap in as they're supposed to with the exception of the microUSB cover. I compared the thickness of the TPU around the sides of the phone with the Moto G Grip Shell, and it's definitely quite a bit thicker. While this adds more bulk to the phone, it also increases the protectiveness. The thinnest parts of the TPU are covered with the hard plastic and gives more added protection.
I'll be keeping my phone in this case for now and will update this review if anything else comes up.
Photos: (I kept my other cases, the Moto Grip Shell and the Rearth Ringke Slim case, for size & color comparison in some of them)

EDIT:
Added another two photos to compare the "black" color of the case versus other cases and other black objects:
In the shade, no direct light (indoors)
In direct bright sunlight
Update: Built-in screen protector is easily removable! Shown process pics below as well as an "after" photo showing the clean edges of the lip with the case back on the phone.
Is it possible to remove the screen protector? I paid the price of otter box for this case to ship to my place, after reading the click thing you said in your review about the screen protector I got a bit disappointed.

Thanks for such a detailed review Angomy, seriously considering this case. Is the front covering just a see through flexible plastic and do the screen colours still show through it as nice as without it?
I'm off to see if this is available on Amazon or ebay in the UK.
Is this the same case, but just different colors? I ordered two of these the other day. Waiting on them to arive.

Updated edit: It is removable, it just seemed impossible when trying to pop it out whole (like you would with an Otterbox etc), but once you make a half-way cut in the protector, and pull one half down to the seam, it removes very easily along the seams without leaving any jagged edges etc. Very pleased with this now.
I don't have sensitivity issues in the middle portions of the screen but a 1/2 cm border at the edge of the phone, I have to press down harder or it sometimes doesn't register. This is probably due to the distance between the protector and screen being the greatest/least flexible at these points.
Keep in mind though that I already have another screen protector (static based, a Ringke clear one) already applied to the screen so it probably reduces the sensitivity even more.
I may see if I can remove it safely later this week and let you know the results.

It's a see through plastic, pretty stiff but still flexible --- the colors do not appear to be affected. I tried tilting it in bright light and at a short set of angles there's that slight "rainbow" effect you sometimes see, but I was looking at the phone at an angle that you wouldn't normally use at to see it.
I'm more concerned with the issues I posted above (re: reduced sensitivity around the edges, clicking) to be honest, if there's a reason for me to stop using the case it would probably be this but I'm picky about my surface sensitivity.

In terms of actual protection it's the case I'm currently taking with me to the bar & bowling alley this weekend where beer flows freely and I've dropped my old phone numerous times before
I'd say it feels a lot more secure than the Moto Grip Shell because the TPU is thicker all around, and the thinnest parts are covered by the polycarbonate back. I actually tried dropping it ~2 feet onto berber carpet yesterday (no damage) just to see/hear the bounce of the tpu, but didn't have the courage to drop it from a higher distance.

Why are you putting this in the Fosmon case thread? Completely different case................
This case is absolutely perfect, with modifications, though. Actually, I was able to remove the screen protector but it took force and the glue isn't as strong once you get a small piece off. Volume buttons are too sensitive for me so I plan on shortening it on the inside

Good news! I was easily able to remove the screen protector after I decided to cut through it (beginning with the speaker cutout at top) into half near the bottom edge. With some gentle pulling it easily lifted off did not leave any messy glue residue that I could see, though I still cleaned the areas with Goo Gone. Please see the original review for updated photos!
(Note: Ah I see someone also had success ^^ Good to see!)
Awesome, still waiting on mine to arrive. Should be here sometime next week.
RULES:
1) Name the version of your phone and when you bought it. If it’s Original, Replacement, RMA, Launch, etc. specify that as well. Ex: Black 32GB – October 31st, 2013 (Launch). This is just to see how long you've had your phone, and I guess bragging rights?? (I no longer can say I have a launch day phone... )
2) Name ALL of the accessories you are currently sporting on your phone. Include brand (if applicable) and LINKS!! This is so that anyone else who likes the look of your phone and what you’ve done, can look it up themselves, or buy those accessories. We want to share ideas.
3) A Picture of the accessories on your phone! Preferably nothing too huge, 1920x1200 and below would be best. Just nice enough, and big enough to show off your look.
4) This is NOT a what is better than what thread, or which company is better than the other! NO arguments! This is just to show off what you've done with your phone and to discuss ideas. If you like what they've done, hit the thanks button. Don't bash people or their choices. Everyone has their own opinion and taste, respect that.

Well a few days ago the Nexus 5 hit the 6 month old mark. You know what that means… It’s old sauce now and completely outdated! You might as well get rid of it and buy something newer. It’s clearly too slow and can’t keep up with the new phones that have just launched/are coming out.
Of course, we know that’s not true at all!! This phone is still a damn beast and remains pretty close to being top of the line!
So, being 6 months old I’m sure many people have had a lot of time to personalize their phones. So why not show off what you’ve done with your phone? It’s a good way to keep an “aging” phone interesting, and it will help others here maybe get some new ideas of what they would like to put on their phones! It also gives me reason to post more pics!!
If you rock your phone naked, that’s cool too! If you want to show us a picture of your naked phone go for it. It would be nice to see how your phone has held up over the months with no protection at all!
We’re here to show the looks and give ideas. So give as much information as possible. Include the brand name if there is one, and where you bought it (a link please)!

Well, that's a bummer. I really wanted to try a metal bumper, but the only two options that I can find on ebay aren't exactly inspiring. The phone makes direct contact with the metal frame so it probably wears off the coating and affects signal quality. Something like the one you own, but with a metallic outer rim would be ideal.
On a different note, I can barely wait for my ringke fusion to arrive. Expect some drool worthy pictures of it along with some neon glowing skin if I can my get my hands on a friend's DSLR .

It's mainly metal backs that cause signal issues. GPS and the like.
@Mmmbacon: I don't suppose you'd be able to share some more screenshots of that screen protector would you please? I'm interested but I dont feel I get a good idea of it compared to your shots (when searching the net)

Sure, no problem.
After taking these, I noticed that I didn't put the protector on completely centered! I can't unsee it now... It's only off by maybe half a mm or less, but still.
Anyway, these are as clear as I can get them without having an SLR. My 8 year old Canon Powershot was about to explode.

I've ordered a Nillkin H+ protector, too, based on the reviews on this forum, and I gotta say, it looks pretty awesome. How does it feel according your perspective?
I hope I can slap mine on half as accurately as you did!

It feels just like the normal screen. It's basically a second piece of gorilla glass with an oleophobic coating, slapped on top of the first one. Just as smooth, just as responsive, and fingerprints wipe off just as easily. It's so much better than a plastic screen protector, well, because it's not plastic! You don't feel the difference because there really isn't a difference between this and the actual screen.
A tempered glass screen protector is basically a 3rd party version of gorilla glass that you can install yourself, without actually calling it "Gorilla Glass" which is just a marketing name. It's the same thing as Apple calling anything with a high resolution a "Retina Display".
Anyway, we'll see how long before the oleophobic coating wears off, but I've had the screen protector on the phone for over 2 months now and it still feels and cleans exactly the same as the day I put it on.
Man that screen protector looks so good that I just bought one. I'll be coming over from the plastic protector world so I'm pretty stoked. Hopefully it doesn't take as long as Amazon told me it would to ship here either :silly:

I've never tried a glass protector so I can't speak about it. You may be right about the fingerprint part, I don't know, but I do know that my amFilm plastic screen protector is smooth as silk. Maybe because of all the skin oils? Anyway, whatever floats yer boat.
I will be posting pics of all my stuff once it comes in, but I'll have to use my roommates phone to take the pics, since my Nexus is the only decent phone I have. I can't exactly take pics of my N5 with my N5. Cheers, and happy 6 mo. anniversary Nexus 5.

You'll notice the difference, probably instantly.

 You've lubed up your screen protector so much that it's nice and smooth!
The biggest reason I went with a glass screen protector was the drop protection. I wanted to avoid this from happening again (or at least drastically lower the likelihood)... I didn't know that the feel was going to be like a night and day difference compared to the plastic ones I've felt before. A tempered glass screen protector will protect much better from a face down drop, compared to a plastic one which won't protect at all. They are scratch protection only, not impact.

I used to be a big case kind of user, but I just can't cover up my red N5. I just use the ringke crystal fusion (?) clear case. I like how the case is semi-tacky, and easy to hold. It has a little extra in the corners, and may protect from small drops. Haven't dropped my n5 yet, so I can't say if one case is better than another. But, I did see this case from Ballistic: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ballistic-G...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item51b9f69eed
I just wish the back of it was clear instead of all those "holes". A nice 1 piece snap on case that had some real corner protection, but still was clear, would be nice.
@mmmmBACON
Thanks for your review and thank you for the eBay link to the bumper. I've been searching for something like this for weeks! BUT WHICH COLOR?
So I've got a white 16GB N5 from February as because I RMA'd it because of the hissing issue in videos (didn't know that this is software related)
Original was bought on December...
Also, I've ordered an tempered glass film on Aliexpress:
0.3mm Explosion-proof Tempered Glass Film for Google Nexus 5 / E980
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/0-3m...-Film-for-Google-Nexus-5-E980/1728914566.html
It costs less than 9 USD so it's worth a try to see if the quality is good as described or not.
There's also an dbrand black titanium skin on the frame and on the back of my white N5. I'm waiting for coupons to replace it by white carbon on the back and matte white on the frame.

Yeah I'm a fan of minimalism, which is why I used the quicksand hardcases. Since I wanted to use skins this time around, I switched to bumper cases. The phone still feels relatively small because of the thinness of not having a back. Though it is a bit wider and taller, but I didn't want to go completely naked, so of course that's the tradeoff.
Yeah, that ballistic case reminds me a little too much of the Samsung Bandaid S5 and a dog bone haha. Probably fantastic for drop protection though.

Yeah, there are a bunch of nice colours but I stuck with black for a couple of reasons.
Black tends to go with anything, it's a safe, neutral sort of colour. So even if you decide to change the skin on your phone to some crazy colours or patterns, it should still look good as it would be a nice black border. With the other bumpers (except maybe white which should also match nicely with everything) you have to try to match colours well or it might clash.
The other reason is that with most TPU cases (even though this is a harder TPU), if you choose something other than black, there is always the chance that it will stain or get dirty very easily. It usually ends up being hard to clean, or you can't clean the stains. With the black, you don't have to worry about it staining, or it doesn't show. I'm not sure if these ones will stain or not, but I just decided not to take the chance.
Also, once you get your glass screen protector you should tell us what you think and post some pictures in this thread. It would be good to see some other options out there and how they fit and look. I chose the Nillkin H+ because it was a highly rated screen protector for a very reasonable price. If there are other nice protectors out there at good prices, that's always a good thing. I don't believe tempered glass screen protectors are worth spending anything more than $10 - $15 on. The process of how they are made is pretty much the same, wherever you buy them, so there's no real point spending $40+ on a big brand when there are very good ones for 1/4 of the price.
Bought my 32gb white N5 off of Swappa in late January. Had the Slickwraps black alligator leather skin on for about a month, before switching to the red carbon fiber. I'm using the lucency bumper case mmmbacon recommended, and love it.

Yes it does a little bit, but it will effect your signal.
