Neo Hybrid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HycezWiWU7A
Slim Armor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5WahhWrBvA
I REALLY wanted to love the Slim Armor. It really is a shame that the case has a problem rendering it useless. The case design is great but the fact that it presses the power button all the time is inexcusable. Going to have to use the Neo Hybrid until better options show up!
Let me know if you guys have any questions at all, as I'd be glad to answer them!
Is it really useless or unusable if it only interferes when putting on the case? Are you really changing cases that often?

It permanently pushes the power button down whenever you put the case on. It just sends the phone into a constant power cycle loop.

I have the case and it works perfectly fine for me, it turns on when I want and off when I want. The case fits great, not sure how well it will protect, and as I'm used to the oterbox as well.
I can put it in and out of my pocket with out it turning on and off.

Some units have the manufacturing flaw and others don't. On Amazon about half the reviewed reported this issue with their case.

Yeah, not my first choice,
I actually ordered this one i-Blason Google Nexus 5, but until someone makes a good quality case hopefully these 2 will keep if from getting banged up and or broken.
Just did some more testing, placing the phone on my desk if i tilt/roll the phone on the edge it will turn the phone on and off again when rolling back and forth, just tried it also with my Gnex in the otterbox and it did the same thing although with a little more pressure.
Spigen has said that they will send you a replacement if you have this issue. Also, not all of the Slim Armor cases have the issue. Lastly, I have the same one you have in the review and mine doesn't do it. It is literally the best case I've used.
you can cut off the button part so it will works well :good:
Is the hybrid thicker then the slim armor? I have the hybrid now and it makes the phone so much wider, is the slim armor identical?

I don't have the hybrid but dimension-wise it should be very similar to the slim armor.
Even the Neo Hybrid makes the phone taller and wider though.
I meant neo hybrid vs slim armor. Not the ultra hybrid. Is slim armor less wider then neo?
i did run a search and saw one response to this question. before i take that one response as the gospel, i was hoping a few others who have the slim armor could confirm.
is it true that the slim armor does NOT come with a screen protector?

I know exactly what you mean. My Slim Armor has a similar issue with the power button, but Spigen is sending me a free replacement. Hopefully it works better this time around since I really like the case. My Neo Hybrid will be here tomorrow though! Really looking forward to giving that one a try.
i wonder how long we'll have to wait before the next batch of slim armor cases comes out that fixes the power button issue?
reason i'm wondering is because i was late to the party to order my n5. it's not gonna ship until mid december. i want to order a case and screen protector a week or two ahead of time so i have both ready to go when the phone arrives.

From the amazon posting:
Q: If I order this now will the power button issue be resolved with the product i receive?
A:
Spigen SGP says: "Thank you for letting us know! If you are having issues with your power button, we'll send you a replacement part to fix these issues, we'll have them around November 11 for shipping! Just send us your order number and let us know your issue through Amazon messages and we'll be happy to assist you get a fully functioning case. Thank you and hope to hear from you soon!"
Just got my Neo Hybrid case... Man, this thing sucks! Thing is so damn slippery on both the back and the sides. Like holding a bar of wet soap. Sending it back. On a side note, also got their slim case and like that much better.

The Slim Armor you mean? If yes, any issues with the headphone jack or USB charging port clearances?
Bio: I was born and I haven't died yet.
Got the Slim Armor case from Amazon and had the same problem with the power button. Returned it, despite the promise from Spigen to send out a fix. I won't support a company that obviously rushed a product to market and puts there customers in a bind like that.

Hello,
With this topic i would like to ask out of these 2 populair cases wich one is best in your honest opinion?
In my opinion i think so far the UAG is alot more nice and maybe a bit less thick,
But maybe the Commutor is alot more Durable and better against drops? But also a bit uglyer than the UAG.
I am still struggling just due i think it has to be good against drops, Due thats whats a case is for obviously.
I hope you can help me out of this and probably other users aswell since i doubt i am the only one ^^
Best regards,
DrLuigi
Or of course if you have another case wich isnt above 35-40 dollar please say so ^^
But i think these two are the best around for this price tag.
I tried out the commuter at a bestbuy and while the case feels nice. the buttons are insanely hard to press. You have to really press it really hard and you don't get feedback so you don't know if you pressed it or not until the screen reacts.
Other members here have said that it eases up over time but not that much.
I personally have the ballistic sg and it seems to be the nicest for me. (not the maxx, just the sg)

Yeah,
Heard the same thing about buttons, But not becoming lose at all, is what i heard,
Also it just doesnt seem nice anyhow, But its very strong i have heard against drops.
Also i have to say that case seems nice,
But i do think Urban one does look nicer,
But idk about being good against drops or anything.
Trident Case has a few rugged options and I heard they are coming out with a charging case too. They range from $35-$50 but they are having a sale, 25% off everything.
I have the commuter. Highly recommend it for protection. It has saved my phone from so many drops.I think some people exaggerate on how hard the buttons are to press. Yes you have to press them a little harder but not much. I just ordered a Uag case since i heard so many great things about them. Either way I don't you can go wrong with either case.

Any idea when it should arrive?
Just so you could tell us maybe how you think it is?
For example so you could tell us wich one you would prefer as first case?
Due the chance is pretty high i get both aswell (Well or something else ofc like a Power Charge case) , but the second will be for over like 3-4 months so ye
Thanks for the help everyone ^^
For Otterbox commuter and Ballistic SG case, please have a look to my thread as I had deeply compare both. For UAG, there is a thread with more 200k view about the case. It's base on your personal preference. If you want your phone to be protected well (with dust cover), then get a Otterbox Commuter(Dont worry about the button, it will getting better after few weeks of use). If you want a unique looking, protective and less bulky case, then get a UAG case. Currently, commuter is much more cheaper than the UAG. I owned 3 of these ultimate protective case, I guarantee that you wont regret if you get either one. But personally, I recommended UAG..^^

Hai,
Thanks for the explaination,
Did not know there were such topics already there sry ^^
But i also just wanted to know wich one would be better when talking about Quality/Drop/being pretty.
Anyhow ^^
If anyone knows also a pretty cool case please repley ^^
I probably think to buy UAG first, Afterwards perhaps a Otterbox for when i do other stuff that it would be more common it to fall etc etc.
Best regards,
DrLuigi.
Btw how thick is that UAG case?
Since it seems on picture pretty reasonable thin,
But wanted to ask ye first ^^
Also is the back panel plastic smooth or grippy or?
Thanks ^^
I have the aviator UAG. Color isn't great, Gunna get the blue one instead sooner or later. As far as everything goes, great protection, solid feel, all around good quality. Little slippery on the back tho.

So I just got my UAG case and I love it. It does feel a little slimmer than the commuter. I feel as if it is a bit less protection from the otterbox, but it feels so much better in the hands. I saw a drop test on youtube with this case and seems pretty good.
Sent from Flip's S3
I have both and I always find myself going back to my UAG. It fits better in my opinion and has a much thinner profile. The small raised areas on the back corners help it from sliding around when its on its backside on a flat surface. The otterbox on the other hand is slicker they the naked phone itself. The UAG also comes in and out of pocket easier. Lol my advice is extremely one sided, but its some food for thought.

I personally am a otterbox fan I currently have the following otterbox cases for the s3
-gun metal grey / white defender
-orange / black / realtree camo defender
-red / black defender
-white / gunmetal commuter
-purple / pink commuter
I switch these cases out like switchimg out my underwear
YES THE COMMUTER CASE at first is hard to press the buttoms but the more you use it the better and easier it becomes
I also love otterbox customer service always friendly and have no problem exchanging out your case for you or trying to work out something
Ok so I think I got a defective UAG case. The power button on the case gets stuck when I push a little too hard which sends my phone in a bunch of bootloops. Contacted the seller and hopefully I get a replacement

how do the buttons feel? do the metallic buttons have any play? When you press them, can you feel the actual click of the button?
I bought a neo hybrid case for a different phone about a year ago and while it did make the phone look great, it didn't last very long. The case was two pieces... A tpu case and a plastic frame that went over that to secure the tpu to the device. I'm not sure if this case for the N5 works in the same way so I'm hesitant to buy it. What ended up happening to my old case is the plastic frame eventually broke and I'm hoping that won't be the case for this one. Can you tell me if this may be a problem with this one too?

my guess is that as long as you don't constantly take it off and on and put any unnecessary stress on the plastic frame, it should be fine and last at least a year.

They did fix it for the Galaxy S4 with a revision (the area around the port charger) since the plastic is thinnest there. This one... doesn't look like they attempted on preventing the same issue.

Again I want this case too. I love how it looks. But I already own 2 for the 2 Galaxy S4, one which had the area snapped around the port charger, and both had their paint finish starting to bubble and peel.
Looks great! I've got my Neo Hybrid case sitting on the counter in the packaging, waiting for my Nexus 5 to arrive Thursday. It's gonna be a long 3 days of waiting.

Buttons feel good, it has that 'tick' to it. A bit sensitive on the power button side, but it doesn't accidently get pressed on. Just doesn't require a lot of effort to push it in.

I wasn't sure what to say because this phone is bigger but yeah it doesn't offer much grip.
In terms of it holding up, I sure hope that it does, I saw that they had a 90-day warranty on the case so we'll see what happens. The back doesn't leave any fingerprints. I will say this for sure, the phone feels REALLY REALLY REALLY good without a case on.

Its exactly what it is and has more protection with the extra piece inside. From what I can tell (im charging the phone right now) it doesnt touch the outer piece or cause any pressure to it. Theres a gap between them (very minor but enough that it doesnt pressure it).

I was watching this earlier when I did a YouTube search. When I saw the design for the Fusion and Ultra Hybrid, I was immediately attracted to the Ultra Hybrid. The Fusion looks a bit too round for me, which is a shame since I loved the Fusion case for the Nexus 4.

I thought mine was scratched too, but you need to peal both the front and back protectors off.
I have both as well. The Spigen is higher quality, but the Rearth is slightly smaller and much more comfortable to hold due to the rounded edges. Also the buttons are easier to press on the Rearth.
So far I have all the Spigen cases and the Rearth and I really don't like any of them. I have a Supcase and a Diztronic on their way. Having a PITA time finding a decent case for this thing. I know I'll like the Diztronic, but I am really, really hoping UAG comes out with a case for us (they likely won't).

just got my diztronic. give me a few minutes to gather some thoughts about it.
Edit: Alright. First off, it looks very nice and sleek, and it definitely does not add as much size as the neo hybrid did (that thing literally gave the N5 the height and width of a Note 3). Fit and finish is OK, not quite as good as sgp or even the older Diztronic cases I remember having on my ATT One X. There is a little bit of flash at the bottom edge under the charging port, so if you usually rest your pinky near the charging port, you will feel a little bit of sharpness. Other than that, the case is pretty formfitting. The buttons actually have a nice click feedback, and it doesn't feel like the case is constantly putting pressure on the buttons when they are not pressed, which is VERY good thing and something I cannot say for most cases. Overall, a solid case, and definitely knocked the neo hybrid away. Waiting for the Supcase for further comparison and judgement.
so it seems that the diztronic wins over spigen and spigen wins over ringke fusion....hmm..
i wonder why no one here mentioned the slim armor from spigen...with all the differences of opinion and no seemingly "excellent" case out there (and with slim armor my preferred one ahving button problems) i dont know what to do ! please do post your reviews people specially if you have multiple cases and which one you like best
So I'll be getting the Nexus 5 pretty soon and I want to order my case and my screen protector as soon as possilbe.
Im currently using a gs3 with an otterbox commuter + zagg invisibleshield HD. Never had problems with this combination although I don't care much for otterbox I think they're overrated and partially crap. Nevermind why, let's jump into the Nexus 5 stuff.
So as for the cases... I wanted to order one of the following but here's why I have doubts:
http://www.amazon.com/TEXTURE-Non-S...qid=1384020752&sr=8-3&keywords=spigen+nexus+5
All reviews on Amazon and Reddit say that this case will scratch the n5 when I'll take it off or put it on because it has sharp edges.
Not only this Spigen version but the same goes for the Ringke version.
So I don't really know wether to order it or not. If so, which one and why? Basically I love them both because I need a slim case.
My other choise was the Neo hybrid:
http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-Google...044&sr=1-1&keywords=spigen+nexus+5+neo+hybrid
I want it very much but I've read it adds a lot of bulkness to the phone. Also the volume and power buttons are not very easily accessible..
Is that true?
My screen protection choises:
the steinheil by Spigen:
http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-Protec...sr=8-3-fkmr0&keywords=spigen+glass+tr+nexus+5
I have nothing bad to say about since everyone are ordering my other choise which is Glas.tR. I don't think I can buy the Glas.tR because I can't find anyone that ships to my country. So I decided to maybe go with the Steinheil protector. Any thoughts?
Thanks guys.
i use the neo hybrid spigen case and it rocks. really tight fit, it really is a quality case. i dont have a screen protector yet but honestly just get a cheap one theyre all pretty similar.

They are easy to press, but they are very loose and rattle more than the original buttons themselves.

Yeah the buttons are very easy to press. Lots of people don't like them but I really do. They feel snappy and responsive.
Hey guys,
I know this is totally subjective. However, I have been looking for a case for my nexus 5. I like the Spigen NeoHybrid, and Slimarmor so far, however I have heard bad things about the Neohybrid, and that the Slimarmor is somewhat bulky. Some guidance is needed. Thank you!

Spigen cases are always good to use and I have used slim armour of it...and I just love that case....so my vote will go for Slim Armour.....

you can also check out the ultra hybrid one too...thats too a really nice case to go for....:good:
sometimes thick cases will mess with the camera by changing the light sensitivity because the lens and/or flash are shrouded. go on amazon and read the reviews... i decided against the slim armor because of potential camera issues and because people complained about the buttons either being hard to press, or no feedback/bad feel from the buttons. but it does look like it would protect the phone well and with tpu instead of cheap silicone like all those old iphone cases i had to deal with years ago i'm sure it's still a pretty good case. but i went with the neo hybrid and it should be here this afternoon so i'll give my opinion then.
I have the slim armour. I was a bit disappointed at how bulky it is when I first put it on my Nexus, however I have grown accustomed to it and it is a good quality case.
The button feedback is actually the best I've ever experienced on a case. Really nice.
I would personally prefer a slimmer case but if you're not worried about bulk, slim armour is a definite one to look at.
I got a Slim Armor and the buttons are no good. Makes them feel spongy. I'm returning it and ordering a Neo Hybrid.
Pretty awesome. Thank you guys!! Anyone encountered fitting problems with the neohybrid, especially the use of the headset jack?
I have the slimarmor. The power button is a bit too snug and i feel alot of dusk seeps into the bottom of the case.
However, I have dropped the phone 2 times on the ground outside (concrete) and there's not one nick on the case itself and the phone is perfectly fine. It does add a bit of bulk, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I can't promise I'll stay with this one for good, but It will definitely be in rotation with other cases

A drop test! Thanks for your service:good:
Feeling better about my slim armor now!
I got the neo hybrid. I was unhappy with the size it made the phone and The grippiness. I think it looks nice though.
I returned it. Now have the nilkin v series flip case on order.

I have both and like the slim armor better. Better protection and list slippery. If you want slimmer I also have the ultra hybrid which I feel is made better than the neo hybrid and is slimmer. That's my 2 cents on the issue.
i have the neo hybrid and think it's fine as a case. the case buttons transfer the tactile feel of the phone's buttons very well.

It is good to have real life drop test. This is the exact reason why I bought this case (ordered, shipped, but not received yet).
I have the Neo Hybrid on mine and I love it. It makes the phone easier to hold and adds a nice layer of protection. Plus it looks pretty awesome!

Any issues with camera flash?

i just got the neo hybrid. it adds more bulk to the phone than i thought... the back is thin but something about squaring off the back makes it feel a lot bigger. also the tpu + bumper adds some width. i was afraid of button access problems through the cutouts with some of the tpu cases out there so i didn't go with a cheap tpu case, maybe i would have been happier with a contoured case rather than this but overall it's a very good case. the power button feedback is a little less, but the button works consistently, my dennon headphones fit, but others might not, the phone stills charges wirelessly without problems.
I picked up the Slim Armor and love it. Great protection around the corners, screen, and camera lens. For a two layer case, it doesn't feel bulky at all. Fits very nice in the hand IMO.

None that I've noticed with my Neo Hybrid. I just wish it wasn't so difficult to remove.
I haven't actually tried either case (because I haven't even gotten my phone yet... backorder ) but I would trade bulkiness for protection by getting the dual layer Slim Armor. I have had a dual layer case on my current phone and I have dropped a couple times over the past two years. In combination with a screen protector, a dual layer case can be the best insurance for your phone without actually paying $100-200 for real insurance.
I was originally planning on the Neo Hybrid just cuz it looks so damn nice but more than 1 person has said its very slippery... and that'd be silly to buy a case only for you to drop it more often.
I ordered the Slim Armor instead, waiting for it to arrive. Amazon's shipping is kind of wonky, they said 2 day delivery but the package has just sat at UPS's facilities for the past 3 days and its scheduled for tomorrow- oh wait, of course UPS changed the date to Thursday.
Hate UPS, but cant wait to get my hands on the case. Hoping it doesn't have the accursed power button issue (though I reckon it won't be too difficult to fix anyway).
I recently got the slim armor. Quality case. Make sure you play around with putting it on. The buttons are very sensitive as you've probably read elsewhere and would turn the phone off. After about 2 tries I got it on and the buttons are working normally.:good:
