It's funny to read something like this :'D
Anyway, in my opinion a deodexed stock rom is the best. Try with wanamlite.

seriously buddy... you are begging for a flame war. If you didn't make it then it doesn't belong to development...
And besides that, your question is way too generic as it completely depends on your preferences. There is no best ROM.
Asylum rom is excellent in term of battery life + performance .. but its CM10.1 rom ... not normal samsung touchwiz rom .. so you miss some samsung features as a result.. and you will get many new features as well
In general, any light roms (100-400 mbs... not 1GB size roms) would go easy on battery

There is no "best" ROM since we all have different requirements. The "best" ROM is determined by you after trying a lot of them out.
Hi,
I am a fully satisfied Galaxy Wonder I8150 user, however - since I found an offer for the Galaxy S Advance I9070 for about 200€ - I am thinking about changing my phone.
Is there anyone who also has the I9070 and can give me any suggestion?
I am a bit worried about development: since our beloved I8150 is much more widespread, there's a lot more here than for the I9070, but it's just probably a matter of time... hopefully!
Opinions and discussions are more than welcome, thank you very much.
I have a friend who uses I9010. Although it is good from spec, and bigger screen.. But well, XDA has only few devs. Seems it is a bit minus points since many of 'em were stock-modded.
€200 off-contract? Cheap..

Thanks for your answer.
I don't understand what you mean by "seems it is a bit minus points since many of them were stock-modded", may you please clarify that?
Re the price: 200€ off-contract, yes.
I've been watching this phone since last year and the best offers I found were 250€ at the end of November 2012, 230€ now in most of the shops. A local supermarket is going to sell it for 200€ in the next days.
So the price doesn't go down fast, but slowly it does!

Many of those ROMs were not pure AOSP/CM-based and just stock, with some mods/changes, so maybe you may expect 'bloatwares', including that useless apps etc. Well there is actually CM10.1 but it is not that reliable since mostly it is for hi-level devs (as you can see there are many bugs there including the Phone.apk (that is for the calls) so it is impossible to make calls), the BT, the Wi-Fi if I'm not mistaken. But well if you can stand that it's yours.
Also, I think the newest S4 will fit. Well its announcement is still on March 14th (15th GMT+7, if it is announced at evening in NY). And I don't think if the price would be another 200 Euros off-contract.
Again, it is your privilege to buy a new phone and leave the other. So, choose it wisely.
Maybe you can post this question to the S Advance forum so that the user of that phone can share their experience with you

I see, thanks for the info.
Well, surely CM10.0 is not usable at this development stage... but it will probably in the future, hopefully soon!
From what you write, I got the impression that Galaxy S Advance does not (and will not?) have so much development/ROMs/etc. as for our beloved Wonder...

Yep, I'm not interested in high-end devices, my budget being around 200€.
That's why Galaxy W is good for me, it does what I need for a reasonable price, imho.

That's clear.
I won't leave my Wonder completely though, since it will stay in my family.

Anyway a bugged cm is long way better than a stock Samsung rom. When you install a cm rom is like buying a new phone. Maybe w with cm is better than s stock...

actually I would recommend you to buy S advance.
with the JB update, the phone is really smooth even without any custom rom or tweak.
But the only big problem is there is not much special tweaks and custom rom available for S advance. So when you are bored of stock S advance, there's nothing you can do unlike our lovely W with so many awesome devs.
Both phones have their own pros and cons. It's up to you.
Samsung Galaxy W Vs Samsung Galaxy S Advance = DRAW :highfive:
I do not know anything about s advance but i'm so in love at first sight with my wonder. Before bought wonder i do some search and comparing but i dont know that our lovely wonder have so many cusroms , mods , tweaks and kernel developed by many brilliant devs. And i never feel regret to bought wonder . This phone is just awesome , and completely helpful

Surely Wonder has a lot more mods, roms, etc. available.
However, I also had a chance to try the S Advance and I must say it's much more comfortable just for the slightly bigger screen. The keyboard is easier, and the GPS works perfectly in Advance whereas in my Wonder takes ages to get the fix or loses it every minute....
All in all, if I had to buy a new phone, between the 2 I'd go for the Advance I think.
I choose wonder because wonder is my device

I currently have a HTC One and am thinking about selling it, pocketing most of the money and getting the Galaxy nexus. I really really want a stable AOSP build and the HTC one simply does not have one yet. What are your guy's opinion on making this switch? and how are the ROMS and Kernals for you guys?

Well since the One is better than the Nexus it would be a easy disicion for me. I think since the play store version is released the builds will come in in no time. I think it is only a matter of time before the aosp custom roms will come. The Galaxy Nexus has awesome kernel and ROM support since it is a Nexus phone. Some developers are leaving for the Nexus 4 but this phone is stille alive and there is plenty of development going on.

Read the rom/kernel Dev threads and see the comments. I suggest you wait, new nexus coming out. Meditate before coming back to the light (aka lite) side of the Force.

Why the galaxy nexus? Unless your on Verizon id go with the nexus 4 its about the same as the one.
I have a old Verizon gnex. Its super laggy on 4.2.2 I would reccomend faux kernel on 4.1.2 that is pretty fast

Nope. If you're a root/custom ROM user, don't. Knox is gonna mess with your life if u do. (Unless your phone came with 4.3 outta the box.

Hi
As you can read from the above it all depends what user you are. If you need a new ROM every day: leave it as it is. For a plain vanilla user, that's me, there is nothing mind-throwing in 4.3.
For the last case, why don't you just use it for a couple of days, read around on GNote 2 with 4.3 a bit and then decide if you want it?

Sorry but when is the update coming? not a single update since november? i can understand the diffuculty of pushing it through carriers but even for the WIFI p600, no update has arrived. I wonder if it will even arrive before the summer.
No one knows. We will have to wait till Samsung rolls out a testfirmware or a leak.

frustrated
Its so frustrating because all the new tablets have 4.4.2 and they have identical specs asides from screen size and a multitasking button. I have been a long time apple user and "converted" to android about 9 months ago. I had an iphone then got the htc one then got the Note 3. I traded my ipad for the note 2014. I love android but I feel like the notion I am getting from android manufacturers is if you want the latest upgrade youre going to have to buy the newest device. Sorry for the rant.
With Samsung you'll need some patience.
Actually they are rolling this update out to a fair amount of their products, we are in line.....

Probably at the end of the line.
Not too big a deal imo, but the performance increase in KitKat would be sweet to have.
Like Khairy said the Galaxy Tab Pro. 10.1 is identical except for the 1 gig of ram and the S-pen. It can't be that difficult to get our Kitkat update out.

Samsung is slow with updates. I just got 4.4.2 on my S4 if you want OS updates faster you have to get a Nexus device.
It's just the way it is I can't wait for KitKat on my Note 10.1 I like it on the S4.
I only got jelly bean on my Note 2 the other day...so don't hold your breath
At the very least fix the lag on a lot of the animations, I feel like samsung is trying to get me to buy a pro series tablet. I guess 600 isn't pro enough.

I just hope it doesn't mess with my SD card access, otherwise I shall wait.
My note is just as I like it at the moment.
Seriously why do people keep asking when it's coming? That's not gonna change anything and we know just as much as you. Google it or something. Be patient people! You'll get it when you get it!
