Hello
I was in the previous version of this firmware N7100XXDMG1 Which is 4.1.2 JB.
I tried to update this Version (Previous one to mentioned one) But I can't Through Kies.
Now, I flashed that through Odin By downloading it from Samfirmware and Successful.
But now also I connected it It shows the same message that:
Your Device's Current Firmware version is not supported to update firmware via kies.
What to do?:crying:

Your device status in about phone must be "Modified"..that's the reason u can't update from kies which was the same situation with me..

You need to unroot. Use triangle away to reset counter and then flash stock again and then factory reset. If your not rooted then I dont know.

Since you've rooted you will not be able to update official firmwares from samsung through kies or OTA.
If you still require to update through kies first you've to unroot and the device status to normal. Follow the below instructions and you'll be fine.
1) installed pre-rooted firmware or root it again
2) Use Triangle away to reset counter Mod
3) Use titanium backup to wipe data from Enterprise Sysscope and Sysscope ( Sysscope may be frozen so, de-frost it and then wipe data).
4) Format the Ext SD card as it may contain some backups which might trigger the modified status
5) Use Root explorer to delete busybox from system/xbin/busybox (Since full Unroot will not delete busybox, the Sysscope will scan the phone for this after boot and change the Status to modified)
6) Full unroot using Super user
7) Reboot and enjoy
Hi All,
I'm facing a similar issue on my Note II.
I used Dr Ketan's guide to root and reverted the firmware to a UK stock early this year but has since gotten a
"Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies"
My device is now unrooted and counter is reset (status is normal).
According to my research, this could be due to a CSC mismatch but can't find anything wrong with it.
This is what I'm on at the moment,
AP: N7100XXDME6
CP: N7100XXDMF1
CSC: N7100OXDMF1
It's the lastest UK stock firmware but I had to install it using Odin instead of Kies.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
That's strange, i have a rooted phone, made with chainfire autoroot method, and i just upgrade the firmware with kies without any trouble. No unroot and no wipe before update. It's a stock firmware with root.

Try using * # 272 * your IMEI #
This will pop up a list of CSC. Choose your original one and it should be okay.
Note: Changing the CSC using this method will factory reset your phone without any warning
Download and install Kies 3. Connect the phone. Kies will inform you that the connection failed. Leave the device plugged in and go to the menu bar, tools, reinstall device drivers. Leave the phone connected while the device drivers reinstall and it should work from there.
Before I get to the point let me explain what happened. I attempted to root my S3. It did work up until I got to the point where I was ready to flash a ROM and it didn't work. I received the "status 7" error on CWM and I receive an error on TWRP that means the same thing. So what I did since I couldn't restore from a backup that I would get bootloops from, I attempted to install a ROM that was .tar or md5.tar through ODIN which only worked for original firmware (given in the screenshot). I have managed to install this ROM on my phone through TWRP but unfortunately it is for TMobile and somehow my AT&T service works on it. Here is a screenshot of the phone. I have tried flashing "aokp_task650_d2lte_kitkat_6.3.2014" that is made for the AT&T S3 but no matter what I try to flash it will not flash. I have already tried doing the "ASSERTS" method but it did not work. Can someone please help me fix this issue??? :/

The hybrid firmware thing shouldn't really happen but for some reason, cross flashing between T999 (T-Mobile) & i747 (AT&T) sometimes happens without necessarily causing a brick. I would suggest you do a complete stock restore to AT&T 4.3JB firmware (UCUEMJB). Thereafter, you can go back to flashing your preferred custom ROM. Since you appear to be able to get to TWRP, you can first, from custom recovery, remove all existing firmware including OS and then reinstall the stock firmware. It appears the bootloader is still UCUEMJB so flashing AT&T stock firmware shouldn't be a problem. Please see the thread below for 4.3 stock restore...

So in this case, I just flash everything that it gives me correct? Is the stock ROM still rooted? If it is not then what rooting process do you suggest I go through? If it is a rooted ROM. Then do you recommend I unroot it and root it again or take some other alternative method? I really appreciate your help

It's a complete stock image which will take you to as near factory condition as you can get. This means it is unrooted. You would need to re-root after (successful) firmware installation. Prior to flashing the firmware, please remember to use custom recovery to remove all existing firmware including OS. Once you've restored the firmware, there are several ways to root but my preferred method is SafeRoot. You can find the download links and instructions to SafeRoot in the thread below ...

I am running 4.4.2 on my S3 (AOKP Task650) but unfortunately I am receiving some battery drain. Is there a Kernel I could use to prevent this and save more battery? Which Kernel do you recommend most? Also I am having issues with my Data. I get "E" for edge in a 4G LTE area? Is there a radio that I can flash or APN for this to fix that problem?

What exactly are you trying to do? Get the official update or flash a custom rom?
If you want the official, remove root and install the OTA (you can use towelroot afterward to root).
If you want a custom rom, follow the FULL instructions in the rom's OP that you choose.

I want to the official ROM for KK, which I can find.
OK so from what you said the first thin I do is unroot? I will research that.
I was wondering if I can go direct from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2?
I would use ODIN on my PC?
Do I have to do any sort of backing up ( I have Titanium pro) before hand, restore procedures?

Tibu is my fav backup app, just make sure you don't restore system app/data. Just make a batch backup and restore once you've flashed KK.
Unroot can be done directly in SuperSU (app).
Yes you can go directly to KK (or any other version), just don't downgrade once you'll have the 4.3+ bootloader or you'll brick your device.
And yes, use Odin on your PC, mobile Odin doesn't flash bootloaders.
The entire process is fairly simple. Just gotta be patient
galaxy S3 AT&T: from stock 4.1.2 to 4.4.2
I am new to these forms, please help me with my questions.
I have a smartphone SGS III AT&T. It is unlocked and working perfect with:
ROM: 4.1.2 Stock
Baseband: DMG2
Kernel: 3.0.31-1300972
Build Number: JZO54K.I747UCDMG2
I am not in USA, so my Smartphone is unlocked.
Initially I used the *#197328640# commands to unlock it
I want to apply enewman17 thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789917 to upgrade to 4.4.2
My questions are:
1. When the procedure is finished, the smartphone still unlocked?
2. If it became locked, is there a free procedure to release it again?

My I747 AT&T is now in 4.4.2. No problems at all. Still Unlocked.
One point more:
When I was in 4.1.2 Stock, I was not able to use "USB Theter" because I am not with AT&T SIM Card. With this version I can USB Theter without restriction.
unrooted 4.1.1 won't update dead android
My AT&T SG3 was rooted until yesterday with stock 4.1.1. I unrooted, re flashed stock image and stock recovery. The phone status says "Normal" now so I think I successfully unrooted. When I try to do the OTA after downloading, it goes to a screen which says installing then updating with an incremental percent counter. When it reaches about 29%, it just reboots and comes back with "Install Interrupted The software update could not be installed". When I do "adb reboot recovery" from a command window, I see a dead android with a red triangle and I assume that has something to do with it or is some kind of symptom. Is there anything I can do to get the latest stock image installed? Did I miss something in the unroot process?

I spent several hours on this again today. I thought I had discerned the fix when I found a post showing the custom download count on the download screen and references to the yellow triangle program to reset it. I rerooted the phone, put stock recovery back, zeroed out the counter with yellow triangle, put the stock image back with ODIN, factory reset, and ended up with an unrooted phone with zero count. The download screen now says:
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (in light Grey)
I thought that would do it but the OTA still fails and I still see the red triangle on the stock recovery page. The only thing I can think of now is that SuperSU is still on the phone. It is disabled but still has 12KB of data that I don't know how to clear. I used the stock image from the skipsoft Android Toolkit.
Any ideas would be really appreciated.
I would steer clear of the toolkit. Follow enewman17's how to update thread in the General section. Seems to have a pretty good success rate.

It worked perfect for me from 4.1.2 stock to 4.4.2. The final result is the same that you get by OTA (if OTA works)

I solved my problem by a convoluted process that I could not recommend but will lay out as best I can in case anyone is that desperate. I had re-rooted and un-rooted a couple times since my last post and finally decided to try a different stock image. I found a link to one in an article
how-to-unroot-att-galaxy-s3-sgh-i747 (sorry - not allowed to post URL)
The link is to stockroms.net. Really slow download - it took a couple hours. After the download (and unzip),
I attached my unrooted phone via USB cable to my computer.
Installed it with ODIN and watched the phone reboot
It seem to get stuck on the Samsung splash screen.
I went into recovery mode and noticed that - at last - I did not have the red triangle and no dead android. I tried wiping the cache a couple times from the recovery screen but it still seemed to get stuck at the splash screen (not sure if I waited long enough).
I finally did the factory reset from the recovery and it finally came back to life and went through the whole initialization thing. I confirmed a couple times that the red triangle was gone and noted that I had gone from Android version 4.1.1 to 4.04. Maybe that was the key or maybe I had a bad stock version of 4.1.1. IDK. But I started going through a series of updates. I am currently at version 4.3 and downloading what I hope will be the last update.
Started with 4.1.1 and used outdated stock image to go back to
4.04 - small update but version still
4.04 - cleared data from AT&T Update App to get around the wait 24 hours - got the update installed to version
4.1.2 - checked for update and got upgraded to
4.3 - check for update wanted me to wait 24 hours and I could not see how to clear the data - so changed the phone's date to next day. Automatically started downloading a new update - I'm hoping its the last
Hi i have been trying to update my att SG3(rooted) 4.1.2 for a while now, when i try to update to 4.3 it says it does not have any update available but i know that this phone can go up to 4.4.2 kitkat,i have tried to do it with odin but unfortunaley i couldnt find the original firmaware in sam-mobiles ,plz help,it does not necesserly have to go to 4.3 if you guys also now a way to go directly to 4.4.2 it will be great.and i have also tried before rooting my phone, still didnt work.P.S:sorry for my bad english.
If you have the 4.1.2 bootloader on your phone, the simplest way would be to flash back to stock ATT 4.1.1 with Odin and use OTA update to get to 4.4.2.
Using Odin will wipe all of your data off your phone.
You can also odin flash MJB firmware available in the General section. Then you'd only need one ota to get to 4.4.2.

There are various pieces of software that need to be installed in order to all of the various functions to work. The main components are:
the bootloader http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...bootloader-on-android-phones-complete-guide/;
the modem/baseband http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseband_processor; and
the operating system or ROM itself.
ATT never released a full firmware (ROM, bootloader, baseband) for 4.1.2 but they did for 4.1.1.
Since your phone is on 4.1.2, you would download the firmware from the previous post, download Odin, install the USB drivers, and flash the firmware.
ok,thank you both DocHoliday77 and audit13
Just a quick FYI, it's more than just the bootloader/modem. The firmware includes the following partitions:
aboot - bootloader
NON-HLOS.BIN - modem/baseband
RPM - resource and power management
sbl2/sbl3 - secondary bootloaders
TZ - Trust Zone
System - rom
Boot - kernel
Cache
Recovery
The first group MUST all match. If they don't it can hard brick.
(This is why I've always wondered why people on the AT&T forums always say to just update bootloader and modem. I'm used to referring to it as the base firmware if not including the system/rom components, or full firmware if including the system.)
Sorry, a little OT. Not anything to be overly concerned about, just me being overly technical is all.

If you follow audit13's instructions you'll be fine.

Now that you're on 4.1.1, use the free method to sim unlock your phone before running OTA updates.
When you are in download mode, do you see the word "Custom" anywhere? Did you run triangle away before flashing back to 4.1.1?

When you are in download mode, do you see the word "Custom" anywhere? Did you run triangle away before flashing back to 4.1.1?

i have done a unlock method,i can make phone calls but i cant connect to the internet (wich is the main reason why i want to upgrade to kit kat,so hopefully it will fix that)or when i try to activate mobile hotspot it says"mobile data is not available or invalid sim".
When i am in download mode there is no place written "custom".

If you are on a completely stock ATT 4.1.1, OTA updates and data connections should work.

Thanks
But i successfully return to my stock firmware
I relock the bootloader but still i am not able to use samsung pass
It showing your device rooted
Good to heard you flashed stock firmware. But there is NO way to use any samsung-exclusive features.
As unlocking bootloader tripped Samsung knox, the protection layer that Samsung uses. Which Samsung pass is an app requires Samsung knox.
For more: https://www.google.com/search?q=samsung+knox+explained
but I search though the forum and found this, although it from 2017 and things might change since then. You may want to try this with a rooted phone.
