Goodbye Gnex community - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello everyone!
I got my Nexus 5 yesterday night. I wanted to leave some information to you guys.
First to start with Gnex vs N5:
-the display is truly amazing on the n5. But i miss the amoled colors though...
-the vibration on the gnex was way better than the one on the n5.
-overall n5 is a nice device, very fast and smooth. huge improvement over gnex...
So I wanted to thank all the developers for the amazing year I have had with my gnex.
Thanks to:
-all the rom developers
-all the kernel developers
-everyone i have missed!
You all made my gnex last longer. e.g. in the 4.2.2 period, all the developers trying to fix the memory leaks. amazing.
I have learned a lot in the year I have had my gnex. I developed a whitemod for Rasbeanjelly, and it was good to learn how to do it.
Now our ways are being seperated..(or maybe i see you guys at the n5 forums! )
Goodbye :good:

Enjoy your new device.
Beamed from my Maguro

I'll be joining you Friday when mine arrives! *high five*

Sorry for the grumpiness this morning, but I can't stand when people make threads saying goodbye and that they got a new phone. Are we supposed to have some type of farewell party for you or something? This happens in every single forum too. It just makes other people feel pretty bad to go out of your way to make a big deal about it.
Funny thing too that in every thread that's like this the original poster will always throw in a con of the new phone to make it look the old one still has some sort of advantage.

"But i miss the amoled colors though..."
yes, you will , adios

All the best!

Atrix got CM9 ICS ROM!!

Yup, the Atrix 4G, the phone I was previously on, which my mom is currently using, just got a CM9 ICS ROM -_-;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445052
We need to start moving and trying to get ICS on the Nitro. Even the Rezound also got AOSP ICS port, albeit some things still borked.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/htc-rezound-gets-pure-aosp-ice-cream-sandwich-port/
Despite all the talk of starting slow with some improvement ROMs and maybe a CM7, I hate to say this, but we need to get either CM9 or ICS, or at least some kind of progress towards it. Every phone out there, old and new, are getting ICS or CM9 infused into them, I don't believe we can't do so with ours. We will spark much more interest in people and members here and maybe even more Devs if we bring ICS to the table. What do you guys/gals think?
I agree.
This is my first Android device and I really enjoy it a lot, thus I hope this phone can get a lively community of mods, roms, etc. At the same time, the SGSII LTE HD will be launching on AT&T soon, and I think that in order for this community to thrive we need ICS before this launch. The SGSII LTE HD is just about equal to the Nitro HD as far as specs are concerned, many who demand 720p and LTE will have the choice between the Samsung and the LG. Due to reputation, Samsung will undoubtedly outsell the Nitro.
I write this not to be **** and try to boss around people who donate their time and receive no more than some meaningless "Thanks" count. I am very appreciative that we have people like Bytecode, Kernelpanic, Cloudraker, and Malnilliom. (sorry if I left some people out, these guys just came to mind)
Lastly, does anyone know where to get guides on doing things like "ROM-cooking" and CM ports. Like I said, this is my first Android phone and I really don't know where to begin looking for this kind of information.

Yeah, I didn't even know about the Skyrocket HD until someone mentioned it here on our thread, and I immediately thought to myself, "Aww F*** we are screwed now". I think it's a **** move by AT&T to release their "flagship" phone under LG and then less than a month later announce the Skyrocket HD. Sorry to say this, had I known they were gonna release the Skyrocket HD, I would've waited for it over the Nitro. But alas, what's done is done, there's no need to cry over spilled milk, the best thing to do is to move on and prove we have the better phone than Samsung does. Anyways, I never was a fan of Samsung Phones since they started making phones. I find they always look..cheap
So with that, again like red solo cup said, thank you to all who have contributed countless amount of time n effort to support us; Let's bring it to the next level!

Best of luck. LG phones usually have mediocre/poor dev support.
Heh , Dont have a nitro but i just synced CodeAurora ICS Port for MSM8660 (thanks to codeaurora for making life a bit easier for qcom products) , My first Task would be to port the kernel , Test it with CWM (before i brick my friend nitro)

Does it mean great things when our device is on the main page? Or will it still get overlooked. Not being sarcastic, really curious.

I'll be here but i can't port anything to any device as i'm not that knowledgable i could bring stock heavily modified roms though.

I didn't say anything was great, I would not know what great means in terms of development on a phone released 7 weeks ago.
N
In that time span a cwm has been developed and 2+ roms with atleast one more announced on the mainpage so someone here at xda seems to think that warrants front page headlines so I am trustin their judgement as well as acknowledging the hard work devs have already accomplished.
It all sounds good to me. I'm new to all of this so I just don't know what to expect.

Im very curious what Revolution is trying to bring to the table with his Domination HD Rom. More as the story progresses
WE should not even be thinking about sense/CM9 roms on here for awhile.
Quite frankly, I don't think CM will ever get around to making a ROM for this phone.
CM9 is being ported to the Lag Nitro by Ricardo Cerqueira. Head out to his Google+ to see what he's done.

Farewell and all the best to the best XDA community out there!

Well guys.
The time has come.
I've bought a Google Nexus and and sitting here configuring CM10 as we speak.
My Wildfire S finally gave up the ghost and it is with regret that I am jumping forums and beginning to work, help and learn about a new phone (for me.).
I just wanted to say goodbye and thank you to all of you who helped me along the way to learn about and get my footing with Android OS and the Wildfire S.
It was a great time and I've made some really solid friends along the way.
I was proud to be a member of this community of dedicated users and happy to give back the knowledge I learned along the way as well as benefit from the work of so many great devs like Alquez, Modpunk and many many more.
Be well and perhaps I will stop in every now and then.
Good luck with your GPS's and keep on rolling...

It was brand new and going for a very good price.
I'm liking it aside from the 16 GB of memory but there is always another phone coming along.
Cheers

Big and beautiful. I can finally type with my big hands. LOL
It's a real pleasure to use. Finally all configured and trying to get back into "enjoy your phone" mode.
Thanks for your work bro... Best of luck in life.

I used to be a nexus *****

I used to be proud to call myself a nexus *****. I had a gnex,a n7 and used to fantasize endlessly about the nex 1, but couldn't afford it because I was in college then.
When dev rascarlo introduced the term nexus ***** for us crack flashers, I adopted it without question, because I believed thats what I was. I hated tw with a passion, but I always loved the look of sense, but kept myself from buying the one x by saying to myself that it's a slow device heavily bogged down by sense, multitasking is **** on it, and the screen is bad compared to my super amoled.
Then my wife broke her galaxy s. N took my nexus. So being short on cash right now, I had to choose between the onex, nexus 4 and the note 2. Note 2 being too pricey, and nexus 4 being too brittle,I chose a 32gb hox, albeit with apprehension.
I AM IN LOVE.
I instantly fell in love with the build, the optically bonded screen is mindblowing, sense just plain works, beats sound is super awesome, camera is light years ahead of my nexus and everything is just do damn pretty. Btw viperx rocks like crazy. After 2 weeks of use,I also finally solved my battery woes. I just can't express how much I love this phone, it's like something I can just plain enjoy, nothing else, no ifs no buts.
I KNOW I AM MORE THAN A YEAR LATE TO THE PARTY, BUT HELLO Y'ALL!
You lucky bastards, you....

Welcome to the HTC side of force
Its not easy to hold myself back when Sammy launches a new Galaxy, i mean specs are mind blowing usually. But after holding the plastic brick in hand and just looking at fisher price colored menus, choice is clear. HTC starts to make sense.
Better late then never, lots of decent devs in the HOX forums. I'm certain you'll have heaps of fun. Happy flashing.

Thanks guys. Honestly though I don't see any need of flashing right now. I got ma fone exactly the way me wants it. Now just that pesky ****-off thing.....

Hi guys I'm in the same situation , I was a proud owner of a Sony Xperia T . Thought it was the dogs danglies ..... Until I played around with my friends one x .
Got it yesterday and I'm in love massively better .
Sony firmware is so so buggy to be usable one a daily device .
Love the sound quality as I'm a Dj I use my phone to listen to all my mixes everyday . Screen is awesome .
Love it fact .

[Q] General Thoughts on the One M8.. Considering returning to Dev

Hi All
some of you know me some of you don't, looking for some general feedback and feelings around the One M8 as a device overall from its xda user group.
The plan, providing I manage to get my hands on one, is to get back into Development and resurrect LeeDrOiD Roms.
It's been a while!
Cheers
It's a great device, certainly a worthy successor to the m7, if you've had any time with that.
screen is gorgeous (if not for lacking a little bit of space due to the on screen buttons)
the camera effects are a treat and fun to play with. For the most part they work pretty well. 4 megapixels is a shortcoming though, regardless of the ultra pixel size
gestures work (they are take it or leave it though, if you use them you love them, if you don't you can do without them)
BoomSound kicks and is an improvement over thevbeats audio sound profile
OS is extremely quick no lag whatsoever even on bloated stock roms
touch screen is extremely sensitive (maybe a touch too sensitive)
ample built in storage + sdcard = [emoji106]
BlinkFeed much improved over initial versions
There's definitely more I could say but I'm sure it's all stuff you've read in reviews, so I will just give my personal opinion: It's friggin awesome!
As with the m7, the m8 has a very robust development and theme community (in the international m8 forum), however, there's always room for LeeDroid!
Excellent. Definitely should consider coming back and doing a ROM for this phone. It's a great successor to the M7.
I use to only but HTC devices. Starting with the Nexus One to the HTC Hero and all the way up to the Evo 3D . I then felt like they weren't what they used to be and felt they were dropping the ball. So I decided to switch to Samsung. I've owned the Galaxy S2, 3, 4, the Galaxy Note 1, 2 and 3. I then started to get a little disappointed in Samsung and had to make a choice of sticking with them and going with the S5 or giving HTC another chance and getting the One M8. Well I decided to go with the One M8 and boy am I glad I did. As with every device there are going to be a few things you wish they would of done differently but in all honesty, this is hands down the best Android device I've ever owned and I've owned a lot so that's saying something. I'm telling you now if your on the fence just jump and jump fast lol. I promise you, you will not regret it. HTC hit it out of the park with this one imo.

Man, can't wait to see you back...
Why you just don't consider developing for M7 and M8, the rom is almost the same... But both phones are awesome! I have a M7
Just to chime in here, I absolutely love the M8. It's my favorite phone since the HD2.
You should definitely grab one, even if you don't wanna dev on it, just to have.
But of course, on the other hand, the more devs we have for it the better.
Hey leedroid! I remember your developing from when I had my old phones. I used to help out sundawg with his ROMs testing and thread maintenance. I am picking my M8 the first week of July when have my JUMP available. The wife just got the phone and I'm jealous. Its an amazing and beautiful phone. We would be honored to have you back deving and this device would be perfect!

Yeah old thread, but I decided to search google for leedroid to see what was going on. I was right thinking you weren't dev on xda anymore, but to see that you're maybe coming back! Your rom were awesome. Since I quit your rom for a new phone, I'm on viper and has been with them for my last phones. But if your to come back, to M8.. dam... I'll surely try your rom for old time sake!
Leedroid makes incredible roms...... would love to have something from him on this awesome piece of hardware!
Hi, The Legendary Leedroid.
I have been using your Leedroid ROM for Desire since 2011.
In fact I'm still using it until now.
It's good to hear that you are planning to come back.
Can't wait for the next Leedroid..
Regards,
Szenpai

Time flies but memories last forever!

It has been three and a half years since i bought my GIO on 28th September 2011.
Boy o boy was i crazy about the whole new android and smartphone era. Updates came, a "FEW" official and "MANY" Unofficial from the lovers of this great phone. Just as i type here, i feel like this is going to be my last post here. Almost everyone here has moved on to other phones and this group suddenly feels lonely.
I will never forget those memories where i bricked my phone and learned to fix it, rooting, usingscripts, flashing new ROMs (The best part). All this has to end sometime. I don't plan to thorugh away my GIO. NO WAY. This baby is going to be with me forever.
Lastly, thank you guys who were there to support each other whenever anyone required any kind of help whatsoever. And off course, a big thanks to the developers who gave all of us new hopes to keep this little great phone of ours, alive.
Thank you.:victory:

Gio is amazing phone! My brother bought Gio back in 2011 and I bought Galaxy Y (s5360). Both of us have moved to new phones some time ago but I still turn on Gio and Y (my brother gave Gio to me) and play little bit with them. Gio totally rocks with Final CM11 and MA kernel. I did also learn rooting, flashing, bricking and unbricking with Y and Gio. They have give me alot! Great devices, great community. Memories totally last for ever .
Ps. Waiting for CM12
Cheers mate. Thank u for this.
