Dont panic. With stock rom i had 4gb free space... That 3gb from your phones storage is for system files. I recommend you to buy a memory card

Hi,
Just started to try out all the great custom roms on this site,
everythings ok except for one thing:
Internal memory after flash.
I see that other users are getting upp to 140MB after flash and reboot,
but im not even near that amount of memory, usually, im getting around
70-80 MB after flash, no matter which rom i flash.
(except for Pays roms where im getting around 135MB)
Am i missing something?
I always wipe everything before flash and always do a second reboot
after first initial setup.
Thanks
u must partition ur sd card to get full internal memory
with rom manager u can partition ur sd card but search and read before install

Did you perform a full wipe of the caches before flashing each ROM?

Which ROM did you try that had low internal storage?
I know from personal experience, I had around 78 MB with DJ Droid's v1.0 R1 (BETA) release before installing the Apps2SD+ patch (not required now as v1.1 has it incorporated into the ROM), which increased the internal storage amount to from 78 MB to 142 MB.

I've tried them all, incl. DJ Droid's.
Only rom's that gives +135MB is Pay's and HTC stock.
I dont use APP2SD and i have not partitioned my sd card, is it required
to get full internal memory?
If yes, how come Pays and Stock HTC stock roms gives full internal
memory without partitioning the SD card?

Not too sure why you are getting more internal memory in Pays ROM...
Does his ROM have A2SD or A2SD+?
If it's just A2SD, then that only send apps to the SD card. With A2SD+, that keeps the apps the Dalvik cache on internal memory.
Some ROMs specifically state that you need an ext partition, and because you have not created one, that's is most likely why you are not seeing the 'true' amount of internal memory maybe? I would think for this reason, the Apps2SD script included into these ROMs expect you to create an ext partition otherwise it would not work as it should.
You can create a partition in ROM Manager and it is very easy to do, so i would suggest you try creating one, perform a full wipe, and then install a ROM again to see what it shows for the internal memory amount.

I think Pays roms have A2SD/A2SD+.
Ill create a partition and reflash different roms, ill be back with some results.
Thanks for the help
The reason your not getting FULL internal space is the dev's are not odexing the rom to help theme makers.
You do NOT need a ext partition at all.
I odex all the rom's I flash myself and have at least 120MB free internal space, I dont use a ext partition at all.
Please stop relying on EXT partitions and APPS2SD+ etc, it is not needed at all on a Froyo build.
Set Froyo's install location to Externel and move widgets back to internal, then you have as much space as you need.

I have got the same problem too. After flashing a new custom rom I start with 25mb of internal storage.
I always perform a full wipe. But when I have installed the new rom, I still have history on my mobile. So it looks like the wipe does not perfom correct and stuff is left behind on the phone.
Hi, Im running MIUI v4 and when I go to App Manager It says I have about 54MB left in my internal storage. However, When I try to download Skype (about 25MB) It says that my internal storage is full. I'm not sure if thats a system bug or it's not showing my internal storage correctly? Any ides on this?

It Does.
In CWM partition your SD card to ext4 and
try ex2int --> put it to init.d folder in rom package and reflash your phone. After restart and reboot you will have a space from sd card on your phone.

One question. I understand I have to reflash ROM for this but can I use a backup to restore it after wipe so I dont't have to install everything all over again, Or I must reflash NEW ROM?
Use odex version.

Take a titanium backup...
Check all files are linked.
Integrate davlik into System ROM using titanium backup.
reboot.
This question goes actually for @surdu_petru, and it would be nice and useful for everyone if he can answer and give a solution for that large sized backups done in TWRP, even when the compression box is checked. It;s like 10 or 15 GB, too large I'll say. Of course.including the backup of sdcard.
So, how to make smaller sized backups with TWRP ?

Internal Storage & External Storage must not be included in backup ! :good:
Only Internal Storage has about 4GB , and External Storage can be 32GB , why you need to backup this ?
Usually, we use backup only for the rom & also for custom partition in our case !
Is the first time I hear someone trying to include in backup internal/external sdcard, or install a custom rom with stock recovery !

Hi,
I just installed Cyanogenmod 12 into my HTC Desire 816 , for flashing I used TWRP. So the whole proccess was as follows:
1)Install CM via TWRP
2)Reinstall CM and GAAPS
Everything works fine and dandy but I have one big problem. My internal storage only shows 4gb of total space, from which I have only like 1GB of free space available. The phone originally came with 8gb of internal storage, and is just after I did this that it was reduced. I did clean up all the Dalvik cache, I also tried doing a new factory reset, but still it's showing only 4gb.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The phone shows 8 gb but half of that is taken up by the factory OS and empty space allocated for future updates in a seperate partition and the rest is system apps . I actually gained storage space in the partition with the remaining storage after flashing CM so I'm not really sure what's going on with your device but low storage space is just a known issue with this device. Obtain S off thru the Sunshine app ($25) or install a write permission script mod for your particular firmware called a WP_MOD.ko I believe here on XDA and then install Link2SD and get the paid version that allows you to move app data to external SD card then partition the ext SD card using a partition manager exe program on your computer following the Link2SD instructions and you will gain all the extra storage space you will need. I did true S off because I wanted to keep my SE Linux permissions set to enforcing not permissive which the write permission mod does but to each his own.
