Hi!
Could somebody share with me the setting that are used to create an inset or cutout text effect?
Examples
Inset : designshack.designshack.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/css-textshadows-8.jpg
Cutout : [www].pinoy7.com/psptutorials/7/textcutout/images/img0.jpg
(can't post outside links yet =(( )
Guess is semantics on which term you use. I tried using a blur offset of 1 then -1 for both the x and y with a color that was lighter and tried even darker. Didn't really work for me.
Hope somebody can help! I'm learning and I've learned a lot just trying to recreate things I've seen!
Thanks many times in advance!
Dave

I noticed yesterday after a rom change that the BB appears differently on my device. Prior to this change, when viewing this BB in PIE, set to one column view, the browser adjusted the text box of posting to fit the full width of the screen. Now it seems to be trying to maintain the white border around edge. I also get variation in the width of the boxes. there is usually three to five mm of white space on either side now. It is frustrating because it requires much more scrolling to move through a thread.
My question is, did whomever maintains this site change something, or is it a setting I have missed, or is it inherent in the version of PIE I am using?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Ditto here, would like to know if there's a fix.
Ok. I've tried to make my own templates. I've took one of the default ones as a guide, and applied all the same settings but with the images I want.
I have one frame with the image, then a second frame with the black area that should be the photo area. When I view this in the camera, I am seeing a semi-transparent bit where my blackness is from frame 2, but not seeing anything of the image from frame 1. Can someone please explain how to make my own that actually work? thanks
camera templates
I'm having trouble doing this as well. Were you able to figure it out? Thanks!
Making Camera themes
I found this thread but didn't find an answer to it. Can anyone help in making a camera there?
I am also trying to work this out. Hey ho.
Now working on Black Calendar....
much better thanks...
does the Diamond Style clock work/look okay on HD?
thanks a lot!
Great graphics
Looks great, but maybe the edges around the numbers should be more visible. Now they are a bit unclear.
Looks great, maybe it'll also save some battery too when using the calculator frequently (no bright background having screen eat all the battery)
Google's concept of saving energy www.blackle.com ..
LCD screens it doesn't matter the image color the illumination is always the same.
Unless you dim your brightness. Bu that makes dark images harder to see.
I've gorn and lost my mscalc.exe !!
Didn't notice it until I installed it, sure that had nowt to do with it tho'.
Anyone able to post up a copy for me?
Verry nice. Thanks.
IPC Calc and Black Dialer are the best out there. Thanx.
AVLev, your work is really beautiful! This is what everything should look like on the Diamond!
I am addicted to IPC Black Dialer, but after I updated my Diamond to the new HTC ROM 2.03 (with the slide-to-answer button), I can't use it...
Any chance of an update with a slider?
Thank you
Thank you
Excellent, thanks.
Perhaps a way to change something to 00 for hundreds.
Landscape Mode
What about a landscape mode for Calculator?
That's Great!!thanks for your share,I am searching this app. for a long time.
Yes indeed! Absolute great apps - IPC Calculator and Dialer!
But one question to the cab in the first post. I get no difference to the first version - it always looks as you see below - the left one. Also very fine - but the other one (right picture) is still better. So please, what is to do?
-------------
Ok - now I see, that I jumped into a blackstone thread with 480 x 800.
But anyway the look of the keys is better and the 1-2-3 at the bottom is what I am used to. So it would be great to get this too.
But thanks again so far for the apps at all!
By any chance does anybody know how to get rid of the IPC_Calculator? It replaced my original calc. I installed a new calculator and like it, but the original ipc is still there. and the version I got doesn't work in landscape. How do I get the original calc back?
I try and is great.
Thanks for your work
Landscape
Halo, not working in landscape mode IPC_Black_Calculator not even IPC_Black_Dialer. It's big damage.
Hi, does anyone know if the Black Calendar is out yet? The link in tho OP sig doesnt seem to work. Or have a link to a decent calendar / organizer for HTC? Havent found one I like yet
Ok I have been looking everywhere and can't seem to find a app that will set the wallpaper as is without cropping or cutting the edges off. I know the best resolution is 960x800 but it still cuts off parts of the picture. I've tried wallpaper set and save and a host of other apps from market and various android freeware sites. None of them seem to set them right, any help would be highly appreciated. I have an HTC evo running cyanogen 6.1 stable and everything is so far so good and I want to thank this website because without it I was lost. This is my number 1 forum so I know ill get the answer, its out their please help me find it. Thanks in advance!!
flikie wallpapers hd is about the best ive seen at this. it still crops but i keeps most of the image quality
Only thing I can think of is to take the photo you want, make the actual photo whatever the screen resolution is (480x800 from what I've read) with black bars on the side to make the entire picture file 960x800. Then use launcher pro to freeze the background so it doesnt move when you swipe. Your picture should be centered.
When you select the image for a wallpaper, you see that little box in the center? Drag outwards on one of its edges.

Thank you all for the speedy replies, I see what your saying. I have my desktop set to have only one screen already, but I went and got launcherpro cause of its features. But yea I downloaded a few pictures before that were 480x800 and it had the black bars on the sides but when I set it, it cuts off the head and feet, 960x800 however does not, it only cuts just a little off the sides. I'm guessing now that the picture is to wide and I wanted to know if I could make a picture keep its height and change its width. I don't know maybe keep the height from the 960x800 setup and the width from the 480x800 setup if that's possible.
My friends, friend has his set up so that when he sets a wallpaper it gives him the option to set as is, to crop, and i think the other one was to cut it. I don't know if its a application or if its the firmware (like cyanogen i mean) he uses, I would ask but he lives very far a few cities over. I have been combing the internet for this app or whatever, and I'm fairly new to android phones, but I got a pretty good history with computers so that definitely helps. But this one seems to be a common problem with a somewhat easy fix. Any ideas?
Are you sure you didn't mix up the 2 sizes lol. 960x800, and not 800x960. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but I've done that before using Photoshop.
Note: This is a work in progress.
Note: All Image manipulation is done with GIMP.
Note: This guide is mainly for the A101 but can also be applied for the A70.
I was getting sick of not be able to take a good picture and use it as a wallpaper so that it looked good. I know there is an alternative "MultiPicture Live Wallpaper" but that thing is a memory hog.
PART 1
So I came up with this picture it's a PNG of 1200x1024. The different grids are the following sizes.
Blue: 8px
Green: 16px
Red: 32px
White: 64px
When this is set as a wallpaper we can finally see what is happening to the image.
Here are the screenshots for the 5 screens of the Stock Launcher of the Archos 101.
Screen 1
Screen 2
Screen 3
Screen 4
Screen 5
Since the status bar can not be hidden on the Stock Launcher we loose 32px at the top and on the right with the soft buttons we loose 40px. When positioned on the first screen we have a good view of the top left corner (1024x600) of the reference picture.
Now lets get to work with this picture below.
Size: 1680x1050
So what do we need to do. The result must be an image with a size of 1200x1024 for the A101 and 960x800 for the A70 where only the top 600px (A101) 480px (A70) will be visible in landscape mode.
Scaling the image to a height of 600px and keeping the aspect in mind. The result is a picture of 960x600
On the bottom add a 424px black border.
On both sides add a 120px black border.
and the result is
Size: 1200x1024
And the screenshot to prove it works.
This was tested with the Stock Launcher and ADW.Launcher.
PART 2
So this worked out because the original picture has a black background. So here is the solution for other pictures.
I made a multi layer xcf file with GIMP to address the problem. You can download it here for the A101 and here for the A70.
Open WallPaper_cropping.xcf in GIMP.
Select the "Background" layer.
File -> Open as Layer -> select the picture you want to crop.
Scale the layer to 1200px width and keep the aspect correct.
Position the layer so that the visible part looks good.
Turn visibility on/off so that only the layers "Background:, "The Picture", "Black Not Visible Part" are turned on.
Save the image as PNG with option "Merge Visible Layers"
Send to archos and apply as wallpaper with the Crop Wallpaper app and use the "Overall" button.
This is all for today. Next We'll see if we can do something with extending the background instead of cropping it.

Worked fine for landscape But when I turn it portrait there is a black bar at the bottom - How do I get it to fill in that black space??
Using ADW Launcher if that has any effect on it...
Would put up a screenshot but the forum won't let me...

There is no way to do both landscape and portrait at the same time. So you have to choose.
ah ok- Thanks anyway.
Thanks wdl1908. It will be difficult for me to explain because of my poor english. But with your settings and my A70it it didn't (the image was too high). So I have set the top of my image at 183px and the bottom at 644px and now it's perfect. Maybe someone with skills could check those values cause I'm a newbie.
Thank you very much.

If you attach your original wallpaper I'll look at it to see what the best method is.
So this is my actual wallpapaper. In landscape I see everything of the middle layer and not the 2 others (normal). And in portrait I don't see the face of the guy on the first layer. But this is not important cause those layers are just there to fill the blanks in portrait mode.
The original picture was found on socwall and was 2500*1324px

Very nice wallpaper. I usually don't bother with the portrait mode as long as the landscape mode is shown correctly. I would just cut out the middle part and use that to fit into the portrait visible part of the template.
