I found a trick on the play Store.... - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hello. So I wanted a few apks from the Play Store but didnt want to pay for them, so I found out a way to do so.
MOD EDIT - Theft in all its form is a despicable act and a true show of character. This is not the kind of sharing that XDA is about.

Piracy is not condoned here on XDA. Thread Closed, and OP edited.

Not so much a question or an answer...

So, I get updates from XDA via facebook and twitter, which is nice! The most recent one was about the iheartradio 3.0.3 app. There was a small thread and a link to the .apk for the app. Someone else had mentioned that they couldn't find the app in the market. So I went to the market on my PC36100 and I couldn't find it either. And then I remembered that the android market was now categorizing apps "not compatible" with particular devices. So, I went to the market via the web and there it was: iheartradio 3.0.3 - Not Compatible with my device! So, I went to the XDA thread to leave a little note about what I had found. WRONG! Because I have not posted 10 (threads, posts, replies?) I could not post to that particular "development thread". It's not a development thread, its an app notice, but I digress. I understand why XDA implemented this 10 post minimum, but it is a kind of a bummer. I don't post much on XDA because my knowledge of android is plebeian at best and the 10 post minimum doesn't help. I understand members, mods and devs are probably pretty tired of the vague, redundant and repetitive questions of the etiquette uninitiated and digitally uneducated masses... I'm just saying! [/RANT]
On the bright side, posting this increased your post count, and as of right now looks like you've broken the 10 post barrier. So, hooray, issue resolved!
i think the dev section is for roms only. u woulda got flamed bad. u coulda posted in the themes and apps section cuz u r talkin about an app

Crap SGY Blogs List

Have you ever searched for a galaxy y blog, found a really cool looking 500+mb game or something, just to later on realize that the game doesnt work for SGY? Then you go "WTF? Y they post this in galaxy y if not working on phone?"
Im creating this thread to help create awareness about those BS blogs, where the lame authors dont even test their games, their just in it for the ad clicks...
Let me start off with some sites to put in your ban list:
galaxyygaming
galaxyyarchive
sgylove
These sites are just filled with warez that dont even work on our phone. Please do avoid them. If you have other sites you want to include in the list, please just post it!
(To the authors of the blogs that will be mentioned, dont get offended cause its your faults in the first place.)

It worked, I was a follower of that site actually, then one day the site gets hacked and unknown new authors pop up, posting useless stuff. I know the original owner was Sanved, I worshiped him for bringing awesome HD games, but he doesnt own the site anymore. The predecessors of Sanved moved to another site after this one got hacked, of course I wouldnt be mentioning what site it is since that would be giving you a link for warez

Well sorry for my language then (honestly its my first offense, and I did censor it the first time, so I was wondering why the mod shortened it to BS)
Secondary, the purpose of this is to tell people to AVOID these sites. They can sure as hell try them, but trust me, anything they download there wont work for galaxy y.
Ok first of all, galaxyyarchive has never posted a single non-compatible game.
And second, they do not share any pirated games, see the disclaimer page you idiot. Also the last 2 sites try to help unlike the rest of the blogs who keep posting pirated games with no single guide to help a newbie out.

Language and even tho I kinda agree with the sites only having warez, I see, this thread going the wrong way.

[ATTENTION]: Updated Rules for Sharing/Selling Themes

OK folks, after much discussion, the rules regarding theming have been updated. It's important that everybody take a couple of minutes to read this.
*Please notice...As of late we see a lot of playstore links to paid themes popping up. Keep in mind XDA is a development environment and we love to see graphical modifications for our beloved expensive devices. We of course encourage theming using a "sharing is caring" strategy since that's what XDA is all about. And we are trying to keep it this way. XDA is not and will never be a marketing platform, so from now on we will not allow direct links to paid themes on the playstore. Basically these are the rules :
1) No direct links to paid themes.
2) You can mention your theme is available on the play store as "donation ware" if there is a free and exactly similar version on xda.
3) Paid version must stay exactly the same as the free version, update on playstore has to reflect version freely available on XDA.
4) Do not discuss playstore in your thread, but you may add it to your signatuee. (this does not mean you can create an obnoxiously huge banner). Please keep it to a manageable size. There will be no exceptions to these updated rules. Anybody found posting links to your "donation ware" themes on Playstore will be removed, and there will be consequences.
Thank You.

Hacking Windows Store trial apps

Adding link here, as its been in the tech press today, and contains useful info on Store apps configuration etc
* Link Deleted *
Promoting warez or helping people get cracked apps is forbidden on XDA-Devs. Many of us are "legit" (store) developers as well as hackers. Nobody here *should* be helping people bypass trial restrictions or similar.
If you want to extract the non-piracy portions of the post, or better yet do some research of your own, and then write your own blog of forum post about them, go ahead and put that on XDA. There will always be people cracking paid apps, but they are not welcome here.
I agree with you
I only posted the link because the discussion had lots of info about how app configuration and xml files and tokens etc work
which is stuff we do need to know about in a Development and Hacking* forum
[ * Hacking in the original sense of the word ie investigating/understanding/modifying]
Update - I've removed the link in the above post
Anyone interested will just have to web search for the relevant My Digital Life Forum entry
