[Q] cant perform search on Stock Email App - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi all,
Been trying to solve this issue, my nexus 7 2013 doesn't have any search feature in Stock Email app for my MS Exchange sync account, but I've found some device has this "binocular" icon on the top right screen,
Any idea how to solve this issue?

I would take a guess and say its something on the exchange server side that has to be changed. It works just fine on mine.

But previously I was using Galaxy Note 10.1 and S3 and they works fine for me, until both of my nexus 4 & 7 unable to search emails.

[Q] Facebook Picture Sync?

Since getting the Galaxy Nexus it appears the Facebook app lost the option to sync contact pictures...anyone know of a work around or possibly another app that will do that for me?
Thanks in advance

You can read a bit about it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393924
You can use a custom ROM - Paul O'Brien from MoDaCo has enabled it with the Facebook app but quality is pretty poo at the moment. But at least it works
Use the app friendcaster it will let ypu sync ypur facebook contacts on the nexus

[Q] No Facebook notifications?

Hello,
The first week I got my GN, Facebook notifications were working like a charm.
Lately they stopped working completly. Both Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
Is there a real push alternative rather than the intrigrated one? They always seem to fail somehow?

It's Facebook's fault, their apps suck.
Logout from the App and log back in and adjust your settings again. Sometimes that fixes it.
Tried logging in and out with no luck
Is anyone else experiensing the same problem?

I'm getting notifications just fine if you go into the app settings you can set notifications within facebook rather than on the phone. alternatively you can sign up for mobile alerts or email notifications on facebook website from your account settings .

Well, I dont like email spamming from Facebook. Thats why I turned them off.
I've set notifications ON only in the app itself. Never seen such settings on the phone.

Lol there aren't any on the phone I just wasn't sure if you thought there were. alternatively you can set up a new gmail account dedicated to your facebook and have notifications pushed there. Personally I just set a filter in my main gmail account 4 anything with the word facebook in the email address to go to a custom facebook label. I like to have access to those notifications in the event that comments are deleted or I need to refer to something. Although this means every time I get a facebook notification it's immediately followed by an email notification.

I've solved that by installing facebook messenger, works like it should within couple secs after a message is posted.

Calendar syncing issues

Is anyone besides me having an issue with the calendar not syncing events between android devices. I have a LTE Gnex and my events will not show up on either my Zoom, computer, work Droid X2 or my wife's Razr.
They will only appear on the device they were entered on. Syncing worked perfectly for about a month and then it just stopped working.
I did a Google search online and apparently this is a fairly widespread issue. Any thoughts?

You do have sync enabled in your options, right?
Both app and system sync settings?

Yes to both.

I often find that I need to delete the cache and reboot the device in order to see changes update. The first key is to ensure that you can see your information on your computer's web browser calendar.

Google Bookmarks gone from SGS3 browser

I recently formatted my AT&T Galaxy S III SGH-I747 to factory to get a fresh start in the mist of rumored Jelly Bean update coming soon. I synced my phone with google to get all my app data and profiles and such. Some reason my bookmarks I had saved to my gmail account are not only gone but I dont have the option to save new bookmarks to the gmail account. Anyone know how to fix this? Saving bookmarks locally on phone isnt enough for me. I thought syncing them with google was enough.

I have the exact same issue on a galaxy note 2. I hope someone can help with this issue

SMS sync on nexus 7 using hangouts possible?

So before when I has my nexus 4 and nexus 7 2012 I would use tablet talk to sync sms from my phone And tablet. Now that KitKat has come out and the new hangouts integration can I still use something to sync the messages? I would like to not have to stop using hangouts on my tablet.

From what I just noticed between my One and N7 it syncs automatically, I don't do anything for it to happen

It syncs the hangouts conversations started by email but not the ones with an actual phone phone number

I'd like to have this as well. Did MMS work before too or just SMS?

I'm looking for this too!!! In the meantime... I use either MightyText or something like that
I'm also looking for a solution to this. I have a WiFi only N7 2013 and a N4. I would like all hangouts messages that go to my N4 to be synched to my N7 and for me to be able to send SMS and MMS from hangouts on my tablet.

Check out MightyText. I'm in the same boat as you only I have a N5 instead of N4. I'm able to send and receive SMS and MMS from my N7 going through my N5. It's cool because you're SMS messages that you send from the N7 using MightyText actually show up on the phone as if you sent them from your phone. However, when you send MMS messages, they don't show up on your phone (I got a pop-up message saying this is has something to do with Android 4.4), but the message does still send. It works really well, and I don't see any significant battery drain using this app.
