I recently formatted my AT&T Galaxy S III SGH-I747 to factory to get a fresh start in the mist of rumored Jelly Bean update coming soon. I synced my phone with google to get all my app data and profiles and such. Some reason my bookmarks I had saved to my gmail account are not only gone but I dont have the option to save new bookmarks to the gmail account. Anyone know how to fix this? Saving bookmarks locally on phone isnt enough for me. I thought syncing them with google was enough.

Hey all,
Been having an issue and wanted to know if anyone has experienced the same thing.
I recently added a second Gmail account for my school email, and the first time it automatically downloaded some apps that I guess were downloaded from the market under that account. This is fine and I expected that, however...
I deleted all of the apps it downloaded because I don't want them anymore. A little while later it proceeded to download them all AGAIN without me doing anything. I deleted them a second time and then when I got home and connected to the wifi, it again downloaded all of the same apps.
Any idea on why it is doing this?
Thanks

Settings > Backup and Reset > Uncheck automatic restore.

Thanks. So it's normal for it to "restore" my apps more than once after adding an account, and after I delete them multiple times?

It doesn't work yet on stock ics
So is there any rom that can have this work?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Nearly all have a facebook sync option built in
Another option is HaxSync, a paid app that syncs high res facebook photos

I have flasshed a ROM called eagles blood mod, based on 4.03 and i can sync with facebook. However, i cant see the contact pics yet.
Im on aokp and it shows up
The solution in those roms gives low-res pictures though apparently. You might want to look at the Haxsync app on the market.
Is anyone besides me having an issue with the calendar not syncing events between android devices. I have a LTE Gnex and my events will not show up on either my Zoom, computer, work Droid X2 or my wife's Razr.
They will only appear on the device they were entered on. Syncing worked perfectly for about a month and then it just stopped working.
I did a Google search online and apparently this is a fairly widespread issue. Any thoughts?

You do have sync enabled in your options, right?
Both app and system sync settings?

Yes to both.

I often find that I need to delete the cache and reboot the device in order to see changes update. The first key is to ensure that you can see your information on your computer's web browser calendar.
Okay this isnt a complete solution for jb but if you use Facebook for alot of your numbers then this will work for you. Unfortunately for now haxsync doesn't sync numbers just pics, statuses, etc etc so what i did was use an app called super backup: sms and contacts and backup contacts in an ics rom that supports fb sync then flash the jb rom and restore contacts with the same app. You should have them all and it actually makes them into regular contacts so you dont have to use fb anymore for them. If you want hq pics then use haxsync or any of the other fb picture sync apps

Nice find, I wish I saw this while I was still on ics. I made a post about this a few weeks ago but didn't get much input
Thanks

Np and hey you can just backup your current setup and then flash an ics rom that has fb sync and go back to the backup. Itll take maybe 30mins max but its worth it if you need the contacts like i do

I might just use my old sgs2. Sync the contacts there and copy over to my nexus

that works too lol
Thanks for the info
Np. Glad i can help

Another workaround:
I was going to start a new thread on this, but since it's my first post I feared getting flamed..
So, here's the best workaround that I've come across for phone number syncing for Facebook on Jelly Bean..
1. Go ahead and sync your facebook contacts by clearing the Facebook app cache and adding your Facebook account to your phone. It will ask you to sign in, and then it will sync contacts without phone numbers.
2. As you try to dial someone's number and you realize that it's on Facebook instead of Google, open up the Facebook app and search for that contact by clicking the "three horizontal line" icon on the top left.
3. The contact will have a phone icon next to their name if they have their phone number stored on Facebook. Go ahead and click the phone and it will bring their number up in the dialer.
4. On the bottom right of your dialer, click the "three dot" icon and select "add to contacts". You know what to do from there.
It's not the best solution, but it's the best i've seen so far. You won't have all of your contacts at once, but you can search for the ones that you know right off the bat, and then search for them as needed later on.
Thats a really long process lol i have over 300 friends so that would take forever. My process saves you alot of time and has the added benefit of turning the fb contacts into regular Google contacts.
Also haxsunc doesn't sync numbers so alone it was useless to me lol

All of your facebook contacts can be dialed directly from Facebook. So just keep them on the facebook app until you need to dial a specific Facebook contact, and then take the extra 2 seconds and save it to Google contacts before you dial it.
Plus, I'm sure everyone doesn't need that weird kid from science class from the 7th grade's phone number. This way you can pick and choose who to add as you need it.
Even if there is eventually a way to sync every facebook contact, i much prefer this method.
Thank you for the tip
I can't for the life of me figure out how to sync my bookmarks with the stock browser. I just to to ut rather easily on my s3. Any ideas?

Im in the same boat as well. In for answers.
Do you mean Chrome bookmarks? You have to sign-in with your Google account and make sure Auto Sync and Sync Internet/Bookmarks is on under Accounts.

There isn't an option for syncing bookmarks, that's where I remember it being on the S3 but it's not on my s4. Stock browser not chrome

I have the same issue! I rather like the stock browser, so I'd love to have all my bookmarks sync with my gmail account.
In my s3 stock browser automatically login to my google account and sync all my bookmarks and everything else, now samsung wants us to use this useless scloud and now we haven't sync with syock browser in s4... is there any way to have this working out? The stock browser is far the best to me.

I aslso love the stock browser best, never found a way to sync google bookmarks. So i saved my bookmarks to my Samsung account and started syncing from there. Problem is that when i flash a new rom and sync my bookmarks, some if not most are missing. I don't even have that many, just like 6 or 7

Well that's another way, but we should be able to sync it also with Google like before. I had a look into many xml and features and compared it to s3 files, but nothing...

This sucks... I hate Chrome. Is it the fact that Google is trying hard to push Chome on us?

Well, looks like Samsung is trying to push the Samsung cloud service, Samsung backup, Samsung... I don't even see why we have Samsung apps if we have play store, and books, music...

I'm working on this. Had same problem with old phone. Got a half ass solution then. Maybe better luck with this one.
All my bookmarks sync just fine in Chrome, still it's not my browser of choice.
