Hey guys.
I've recently started getting into building AOSP bases ROMs for our I9190/I9195 devices (sorry I9192 users. Somehow I find it difficult to trust those who have two separate phone numbers).
Anyway- a lot of people seemed to like his Carbon JB ROM, myself included. Would it be worth my time building Carbon JB from source and uploading nightly/ as regular as I can?
Bit of a lame question, but I need to know if anyone would actually be interested before I go setting up a new workspace and initialize the Carbon git.

First of all I'd like to thank prox for his time and effort, carbon is a nice rom but I prefer pac. That said the more roms the better

Where do you put the new roms because the elder threads are all closed now?
And please do a full port of the (new) slim rom.

i9190 serrano3gxx is uploading now..

I agree, we have 2 sims for work/personal, most of us, at least. I left my i9000 with cm because I had to carry a dumbphone also for work...
Not about proving something, but more about helping... We with i9192 are very dissapointed that there's no alternative to stock rom
It seems people are interested!
Proxuser seems to have made it clear in this thread that he'll still be giving our devices some dev-attention. Thanks for that, Proxuser.
I9192 Users: I was just kidding about the dual sim malarkey, it'd be great to see your devices getting some attention. I'll compile a Carbon/Pure CM-10.2 ROM for your device soon. I'll need testers, since I don't own the device. I do feel however, that people are gonna start to lose interest in ROMs which aren't based on Android 4.4 or above.
Just to be clear- I'm just a compiler. Proxuser is the one for developer consultation.

hey guys, the last months i've seen almost 4 topics about developing (such as Maroc&Razor, Motafoca, Androhacker etc...) why doesn't anyone of those combine and form 1 single team. I think it will be much better than 4 seperate teams.
And 4 different ROMS are better than 1. Everyone is working with someone else at the moment.

agreed. if people having options they will try rather then using one......
I agree with OP.. unity is the strength here.. they would hv developed it faster if they worked together.. although there can be major clashes over the the concepts.. as some strongly support some issue some don't at all!
But the point is for the sake of the dev.. they might consider sharing what they hv achieved so far.. like so far the one by razor083 is very much working.. but with lot of bugs.. if they try they can make it work! instead they r building it again separately! They should only do dat if there is nothing to be done on this port by razor083!! in dat case they should proceed from source again! but atlst they should take a look at it!!

argh,
really, if paranoid (or at least cm10/11) won't be available soon, that will make me buy these LG Nexus or whatever else Google may show us
Right now, there are no official porters for CM10 for the galaxy note.
Samsung, by not releasing exynos/framework documentation, basically has made it too difficult to develop CM10 for it.
The Note 1 developers basically got fed up and quit until Samsung makes it more practical.
So no CM10 means no PA.
We can hope that a new developer takes the reigns, but as the other poster said: we're in for a long wait.

We have no official CM porters? since when are porters official its either original CM or ported CM
Anyways , atleast im more than 100% sure we WILL get ported cyanogen mod, and most probably PA too.
now ive used ported CM 10 on around 3 of other devices, and take my word if you havent tried it yet, a port totally depends on which device CM it is ported from. E.g. If we get ported cm 10, it will atleast be as much performing as CM 10 on S 3, whose hardware is resembling, because the porters will take as much help as they can from CM10 of S3...
And if CM10 may be ported, why not PA? its not like first CM has to be ported in order to port a PA second
Thats kernel source, not hardware sources, they are two separate things the CM team need both to make a fully working CM rom for this device (and any other modern Samsung device)
Hey everyone,
So I've been using PA roms for a while now, and the best thing about them (in my opinion) is the Hybrid Settings.
Only problem is, PA sometimes tenses to lag a bit. So Slim Bean would be a good alternative, but sadly this rom doesn't have Hybrid Settings.
Well, here is the rom perfect for the people like me: Based on Slim Bean, with the best of AOSPA and some AOKP features (and many more!), this rom is amazingly fast and has a lot of customization.
I would love to get this rom on my Galaxy Nexus maguro, but I myself have absolutely no idea how to port a rom, so I asked one of the people who develope the rom, $droyd$, if they were planning to port it to our beloved maguro, and he said:
As of now its not planned for the galaxy nexus but it is open source. That being said if you can build it for the galaxy nexus or know someone who can have them contact us and we can see.

So this is where I need your help! If there is someone, who knows how to port this rom to our Galaxy Nexus, please help me (and other people). Currently the rom is still in development, so not all the final features are there. It has had it's first official release (sadly without the Hybrid Settings, but they plan to add it back soon) and version 2.0 is on its way, so we have no hurry. But it would be awesome if there would be someone willing to help port this rom to our Galaxy Nexus!
If you want to know more about the rom, here are some links and a video:
Google Nexus 4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338448
Google + $droyd$: Mike Williams
YouTube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf-9S1WRxQg
I hope I convinced some of you enough so we can make this happen! Anyway, thanks for listening
Questions should be in Q&A section! Mod should move this into right section soon!
Why you want it to be ported if you may be able to build it from sources?
I'm not sure if that ROM is open sourced to be able build it for maguro,if it is open sourced then just set up building environment on Linux and download sources and then Maguro properiatry files and start building it for Maguro!
No sense to port it because then most of the things wouldn't work!
Thread moved to Q&A section - for future questions please use this section. Android Development is for Development

Check my blogspot got support for all 3 maguro toro and toroplus
why dont u people try to build an AOSP rom instead ofa CM....coz probably cm is sumthing that is modifications made to AOSP....and even the touchwiz ui is modified AOSP so if we can have a AOSP build itll probably be easier for us to build these roms..
...if sum one is ready to help me learn about building roms from source ill sure try making CM's and AOKP and paranoid and what not
is better but its based on AOSP.....its like imagine AOSP as a stock rom and CM as a custom rom...wait why imagine..its actually like that....so the basic idea is to improve performance...where CM show up...but whats the base CM uses??...its AOSP....so if we have a perfect AOSP which is obv possible...coz Samsung wouldn't be able to build TouchWiz withouta base...for obv reasons...so why not try building an AOSP first and then continuing with CM
do u even know whatcha sayin?
tl;dr
Here's some math:
No sources = no base
No base = no sources
No sources = no cm
No cm = no aosp
So unless you try to find a way to make those proprietary sources available then I'd suggest doing some research.
Also even if you tried you'll fail, we have the best devs for sgy working hard for that goal and we're honestly not making good progress. Well except for percy and his cm9 and psycho's cm7 but still a long way from "stable as stock".
This post is in compliance with the national potato safety regulation.

My information might not be correct. A friend of mine told me this.
See cm is made by aftermarket developers keeping in mind that it can support lot of different phones.
On the other hand aosp was made for nexus phones so they don't give a damn that it works on other phones or not. They are just selfish lol.
So building pure aosp is tougher compared to cm. Cm has modifications on aosp to support different phones.

Naman...we haven't tried making AOSP yet so we cant just confirm this and it cant be that it was made for nexus only coz its an open source project so they must have probably kept in mind that many dev's will try to have it on different devices ..... the Gingerbread that our SGY uses is nothing but a custom rom of the aosp which we call as stock....
for obv reasons...samsung would not have made their own android os right...they have used google sources....the point is...the time dev's have spent on making CM if would have been focused on AOSP we might just have a build close enough to psycho's work!
and what ive learned or i might be wrong in this that psycho used aosp's sources for the fixes....Maybe wrong about this...i just read it somewhere here!.....and as our device has the largest community of awesome dev's why not we try the AOSP thing out??
we cant just conclude without trying...can we??......some months back people were like we wont have a CM....we have a working CM7 and CM9 which are working pretty fine except for the driver bugs....same way,we might just end up having an AOSP...
another hope to Young GT-S6310. need a great developers to make it true

Maybe you should see this. www.cyanogenmod.org/about
And also about android opensource project. Google gives aosp source to all manufacturers as part of aosp allience/programme which they further modify. And first phone running android was not nexus to say that they don't give damn about other devices. And the number of devices running CM is still very low.
Like I said, a friend told me about it.

man.. they are just stock based roms.. everyone is upgrading these days, android 4.3 has been released and you are still on 2.3.6. Which makes you guys really outdated..
Kernel? yeah there are huge number of kernels here but if you notice that most of em have same features See other phones like nexus 4. They have whats called "real" kernel development.
Pico which is 1k more expensive is 100 times better than this phone and you also know it. Why not buy that? I sold my Y for 3.5k and another 3k can buy you a arm7 phone. Which wont get outdated for another year atleast..

You have to see if the dev will ok the port first. Then you can get the rom ported over.
That shouldn't be a problem. They are very amenable to porting and building roms for new devices.
