I always use Press and Hold on HOME and it will show what processes are active. You can slide off the ones you want to close.
You can use the Back key instead of the Home button and use its built-in Task Manager to close all running apps.
Not really much point on closing apps now days especially in this device.

Need to turn on Developer functions first.
Setup -> General Tab -> About Device
Tap on Build Number 8 times... then it is active.
Then you can go to Setup -> General Tab -> Developer Options and you will find the USB debugging options.

^^^ he said. Enable your dev options in case you miss that.

For the task manager, you can use the widget. You can find it by opening all apps then tick on the widgets and just look for the one that says task manager
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Thank you so much

Rick's ROM Problem...Programs hides

I have a problem w/ Rick's ROM, when I open a program and I don't use it for a little while the programs were hide automatically but they stay in Task Manager.
That will be a ROM problem or a setting option?
adavid
thats windows mobile. depending on your power settings, the phone hibernates and minimizes any open application after X:XX amount of time. and thats what the task manager is for....to find them and use/or kill them

Quick list of running apps? With "Force Stop" option?

Is there any apps which will list all the apps which are currently running on my Desire, and give me the option to Force Stop them, without having to go through the Manage applications option?
I was showing my Desire to a new iPhone 4 owner and was showing him some of the different Launchers I can install on my phone, and because I use Home Switcher to go between them, I think the other Launchers I have installed (HTC Sense & ADW Launcher, I use LauncherPro) are still running in the background.
And the only way I can see to stop them is to go through the Manage Apps program.
I don't want an Automatic Killer, but I would like a list and an option to kill them?
Any ideas?

Yes, but that is only the last 6 apps, and it doesn't give a force stop option.
I guarantee that there is aLOT more apps running on your phone than that 6.
Used advanced task killer from the market

STT: System Loggers

Hey guys, i have this emblem in the top left corner on the top bar.
It says STT: System Loggers in my notifications, is it supposed to be there?
I dont want it on there, What does it do, and how do i get rid of it.
Thanks
I'm not familiar with it, but it sounds like an app to me.
Most apps will have the ability to hide that icon, Check the main area where all the apps are to see if you can find and get into the app and modify the settings accordingly. (Normally it'll be called Notification)
Otherwise you can simply go to the apps section in the settings menu and uninstall/disable the system logger
Is there a way I can do a screen shot? And I will take a pic
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Press power button + home button for screenshot capture
You can check what apps running using the task manager.
Here is a shot, haven't found a option to remove.
Also when im in the setting, there is a option for Developer options.
Does every one x have that option.
Also found out that my phone has S-OFF also.
Everyone has Dev options (it's in ICS) but no idea what that app is
If i go into the app section in settings its not in there.
Here it is when i open it.

The reason you don't see these is that the Android team moved the NFC enable/disable setting into the secure settings in 2.3.5. Prior to then there were a few NFC toggle widgets on the market. Now those apps would need WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS (so you're looking at only devices with root access willing to make your app a system app or JB+ devices where you can request it from the package manager with root access).

I don't think that there's a solution for automatic NFC turm om. What is more, it's not really safe.

I don't auto-turn on NFC. You can create an app that does this if you just have it request WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS and then either use root to grant that permission via the package manager or copy/move it to /system/app

System settings --> more --> nfc [check/uncheck]
Or..
system settings --> system --> quick settings panel --> tiles and layout --> add --> nfc, then its on your quick settings panel.
I too would like to see a way of turning the NFC on and off without the manual prompt - like you can with bluetooth.
It appears that you cant do this because its "unsafe" and because of this reason they've also made NFC not work while the screen is off although some crafty people have realized this kind of defeats the purpose of having NFC and for some phones they've enabled NFC to work with lock screen closed (see link)
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/activate-nfc-at-any-time/
I can kind of see how its unsafe to be able to turn it on without acknowledgement - but if you could setup a rule that required Root access then this should be a reasonable stop gap? You would then be able to setup a rule in say "automateit" for example so that the NFC turns on and off during certain times or after certain rules are activated or stopped - this would then kind of make safe because you can turn the NFC off and know for sure its off after certain events have occurred.
I know this is a very debatable subject but I think its a good subject to debate.
I use shortcutter app from play store. Although you have to grant the relevant permission via adb.

Easy way to toggle a developer option?

Is there an app that allows direct access to one of the developer options so I can easily toggle it? I'm running stock, unrooted.
Here's the issue: Just upgraded to 4.3, and there's a bug that resets the Transition Animation Scale back to 1x whenever you run the Camera app. Right now I have to do Settings > More > Developer Options > scroll down to Transition Animation Scale > set to None > exit. PIA every time I use the Camera.
What I'd like is to have a script that runs the Camera app and then on exit automatically resets the animation option. Short of that I'd settle for a direct link to the option setting.
Any help appreciated.

Good thought. I am actually using Nova. Just looked through all the available Activity links but don't see direct access to the specific option I need to toggle.
I've also installed the Developer Options app, which does allow one click access to the Dev Options, so that's better than drilling down through Settings, etc.
