The reason you don't see these is that the Android team moved the NFC enable/disable setting into the secure settings in 2.3.5. Prior to then there were a few NFC toggle widgets on the market. Now those apps would need WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS (so you're looking at only devices with root access willing to make your app a system app or JB+ devices where you can request it from the package manager with root access).

I don't think that there's a solution for automatic NFC turm om. What is more, it's not really safe.

I don't auto-turn on NFC. You can create an app that does this if you just have it request WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS and then either use root to grant that permission via the package manager or copy/move it to /system/app

System settings --> more --> nfc [check/uncheck]
Or..
system settings --> system --> quick settings panel --> tiles and layout --> add --> nfc, then its on your quick settings panel.
I too would like to see a way of turning the NFC on and off without the manual prompt - like you can with bluetooth.
It appears that you cant do this because its "unsafe" and because of this reason they've also made NFC not work while the screen is off although some crafty people have realized this kind of defeats the purpose of having NFC and for some phones they've enabled NFC to work with lock screen closed (see link)
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/activate-nfc-at-any-time/
I can kind of see how its unsafe to be able to turn it on without acknowledgement - but if you could setup a rule that required Root access then this should be a reasonable stop gap? You would then be able to setup a rule in say "automateit" for example so that the NFC turns on and off during certain times or after certain rules are activated or stopped - this would then kind of make safe because you can turn the NFC off and know for sure its off after certain events have occurred.
I know this is a very debatable subject but I think its a good subject to debate.
I use shortcutter app from play store. Although you have to grant the relevant permission via adb.

Hi All,
Unfortunately I lost the original 2 stylus. Don't ask me how, but they were disappeared somehow. So based on an idea from someone on a Hungarian Touch HD forum I wrote a small and very simple application called NoStylusWarning. It is simply monitoring the stylus state and if you set up some warning then it can put a notification onto the task bar and vibrate when e.g. the device is moving.
Improvements:
- language file support (xml)
- sound notification
- autostart
- partial solution for full hiding (background processing)
- vibration on stylus state change
- last settings are saved to the registry, application will load them on startup
- cab for easier installation
- some minor redesign
Features:
- notification icon and balloon for switched on device
- vibration for suspended device
- monitoring g-sensor to detect moving
- monitoring light sensor to detect stylus loosing in pocket/pouch
- running in unattended mode to detect events in suspended mode
- smart minimize (X using your default setting, to minimize, use the menu)
Installation / requirements:
- .Net 3.5 is required as well as an HTC device with g, light and stylus sensor
- Install the CAB file. For language support find the EN_Language.xml in \Program Files\NoStylusWarning directory rename it to language.xml and edit it to your language or rename an existing xml file to language.xml (only Hungarian is available at the moment)
Known bug(s):
- light sensor changes are not detected in suspend mode.
- registry values are not deleted when uninstalling (it can be a feature also )
- full hide mode is available only when taskbar notification is selected, there's no return point to the application when it is hidden except the button in the notification bubble. :-(
Comments and requests are welcome. Thanks!

Testet on Diamond and function like a charm.

I hope yes, because of the same sensors in Diamond, Pro and HD. I have a HD so I could test just on the HD. If one of the sensors is not reachable / available, the application will warn you and exit. But I think Diamond and Pro is supported.
It seems that not memorize the settings when I close it.
The app is in the background on.
Is it possible to make, that is the app only in the Autostart active.
Look the pic.

Do you mean that if you autostart the application, it will run minimized by default? This connects to the previous suggestion about saving/loading previous settings. If so, (I hope) I can put it to the application...
Jes.
hi is in the autostart and also like on my pic.
If I make minimize then is it so.
If I close, then is the app not active.
Neato little app!.. but no sound alarm??
I have set MemoryMagic to play an alarm sound when the stylus comes out... works for me.

If you want to hide it from showing in the task manager (like in your pic), do this...
Settings > System tab > Task Manager ... When you see NoStylusWarning running click and HOLD on it, choose option 'Add Exclusive'
Cab file is attached, install to main memory
thanks
ill have also lost my stylus, but i have fond it back it was in my car

Hello, I don't think so. As far as I know Xperia has different sensors and maybe the vibrator function is not on the first led.
I hope i will have enough experience to extend my app to other winmo devices, but it is a big requirement that the device must have a stylus sensor.
Great function would be to use gps data to check where the stylus has been lost just in case you didn't notice the notification.

As an optional monitoring feature this is a great idea. I will try to do my best to implement this (and all above mentioned) function to the following release.

And if you lose the stylus in your bag, and the program stores with gps data the place where it starts notification, but you are going around with your bag or leave it at home or in office?? Where is your stylus?? where indicated from gps data or in the bag but you don't know??
Thanks for sharing ! Very useful for me lol !
Is there any way to run this automatically on startup??
Putting a shortcut in the startup folder doesn't work right??

I've got the HOX rooted and was wondering if there is a way to grant Tasker more capabilities externally i.e. through NFC Task Launcher (smaller tag sizes when launcher a tasker task and more potential capabilities).
Even with "Allow External Access" checked, I am still denied access to functions that I would love to use, such as Button, Silence Ringer, Kill App, Send SMS, etc...
So, I don't know if it's plausible, but with root access is there anyway to back around the restrictions placed on tasker outside of the native app/widget?
Thank you in advance.
I don't know about the other tasks you mentioned, but root does allow Tasker to kill apps (you have to check the box to use root). I set up a NFC switch in Task Launcher that opens an app (and does a few other things) using a Tasker task on the first NFC scan and then closes the app on the second scan.

Check the box to use root? The box in Secure Settings or is there a box in tasker that has to be checked?
When you add the Kill App task, there is a box in there to use root.

ah thanks. In the meantime i'll see what I can do with Sure Setting plugin. maybe it can take care of certain things.
Hello,
I do not quite understand how Android permissions work.
When I install any app it says that "app does not require special permissions", however after installation I go to Settings - Privacy - Privacy Guard - select that app, and see that app wants to read my contacts, read my SMS messages, start at boot, and turn on Wi-Fi! And all these permissions are allowed by default!
Why these permissions are not displayed when I install the app, and why these permissions are enabled by default?
Is it possible to disable absolutely all permissions (or "Always ask") by default? I haven't found anything like this in Privacy Guard settings.
I use LineageOS 14.1 on Samsung S5 "kltesprsports" if that matters.
I found one similar thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-improve-fix-privacy-guard-lineage-t3739136
Seems that it was done intentionally "in attempts to clean it up".
What really shocks me is
Until an app actually uses a feature it will not appear in the privacy guard unless it has been specifically declared. This also means by the time it appears in the privacy guard, it's already accessed your information.

Is it possible to disallow all permissions for all apps by default? Or do I have to run the script provided in that thread for every new app I install?

Setting 'Enabled by default' from the overflow menu on screen 1 of PG settings should auto-set those permissions to "Ask'.

yes, it does not. I would like to set by default all permissions to ask in privacy guard.

unfortunately, it's impossible.
I found out that the Privacy Guard is owned by Google for several years already (i.e. moved from Cyanogenmod to vanilla Android) that's why it has such behavior.

Not sure exactly what you are trying to achieve, but have you looked into certain "apphider" apps? they have app hider apps that install on your phone and actually need a pin you can create to access. It's almost like having another App drawer on your phone that is hidden and you can install apps into that hidden area. food for thought

Not sure why you guys dont look in the SECURITY section in the settings menu.
But my phone as a built in phone lock option, where you need the pin or pattern /fingerprint of the phone to open apps.
Also, there is a launcher option to change if you want an app drawer, or all apps on the desktop.
I remembered that the Magizk Lsposed module used to be created a shortcut in the app drawer, however with my P6P, it only gives the option to create a shortcut on the home screen when it was first installed. I only keep a few daily used app shortcuts on the home screen and Lsposed is notone of them. Is there anyway to have a Lsposed shortcut in the drawer as I occasionally need it to see if there is anything wrong of its setting.
This method is done to avoid detection and you can add the app if you really want it. According to the documentation the team provides this is the safest strategy to take advantage of. However it's your device and make you own choice now since you understand the consequences

Thanks for the feedback, but how to create a shortcut in the drawer? I know it gives the option to have one on the home screen but once I say no, I couldn't trace it anymore.

You need to download the separate APK and disabling the module and enabling it should bring the prompt back if you want the widget shortcut.
If you need the APK, unzip the magisk module and install the manager.apk from the archive.
