Hey, how great is working Gangstar Vegas on your LGOG? Which rom and kernel do you use, do you use oc? I use Vanir 4.3 with Kite Kernel , and sometimes, i've got slight framerate drops (below 25 fps) on Very High details.
It is lagging even on galaxy s4
Snapdragon 800 with adreno 330 gpu is running this game smoothly
Like lg g2 and note 3

Yep, but i know that S4 Pro can much more...In my opinion it should be working on Very High (and it's working).
I don't like stock rom, because of thermal throttling (phone makes warm, and cpu drops to 1100mhz), on Vanir 4.3 (one of Oct nightly) phone is a bit cooler. I was using Kite Kernel (4.3 version of course) ,because of better scores in Benchmarks and slight OC (1620 option), the phone wasn't so hot as in stock. But the 1 Nov 2013 is very great build. On "nuclear" kernel (provided with rom) theoretically phone was slower, there were no OC option, but... framerate is much much stable in games, Gangstar is working now without any lags on very high, and...WOW! the phone is cool (never seen cooler OG), there's no thermal throttling, 1,5ghz all the time
My problem is solved

I have turned thermal off (probably the thermal file is deleted or thoreshold is rised up)...Anyway in the rom that i use, it's not necessary, bucause, my phone doesn't become hot already.

I have recently gotten my first android phone, (samsung gio S5660) and decided to install a custom rom on it and root it. I now have CM9 and I overclocked it to 900Mhz.
However, I get 6.2MFLOPS on the linpack test and between 250 and 300 points for processor in the quadrant (standard) test (which takes forever), I feel this is a bit low do you guys agree? And what would cause it? Should I try another rom? if so which one would you guys recommend?
nothing. who cares about scores?
its about how your phone performs, not how it scores into such apps..

These scores represent how my device performs during their tests, 3d wise its all ok, but the CPU seems to be slow which is noticeable when browsing the web for example (this is a guess tho, since I have not experienced any other android devices.)
I also experience some lagg in other applications and I wish for my device to run it as smooth as possible.
So, does anyone know why my CPU is getting these low grades? Or if I should move on to another ROM? Or if this speed is to be expected from a gio.
How are your cpu frequences set?
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
Frequencies?
using setCPU I set the max frequency to 902 and min to 122, it has no effect on performance when I change the 122 to 902. I have set the "governor" to performance.
try delanoister BNC rom
I get on quadrant test 2576 point

Yeah, decided I would flash CM7 after an other rom did not flash well. Works like a charm CPU scores have gone up from 6MFlops to 11 and from 300pts to 800. Browsing works snappy and games work better.
Thanks guys for the help.

I know you shouldn't trust benchmarks too much, however I benched alot of times and I felt these marks where valid as in that they where twice as low as I was expecting them to be. Also the lagginess of some parts of the system made alarm bells go off.
However now it's fixed, and my gio is steaming ahead.
Thanks once again guys.
Im asking since i just got my Nexus about a week ago and immediatly flashed JB stock ROM. My gripe with the Nexus before JB was the weak-ish GPU it had which made me steer away from it until JB announcement just made me get it no questions. Now im testing ShadowGun and it plays perfectly smooth and Quadrant 2D/3D benchmarks always are at or near 60fps. Since i did not have a Nexus in the ICS days, are GFX/Games better in JB or was performance the same? Because i underestimated the GPU before but its doing a great job so far in my tests... note to self: Just try the damn thing and forget the specs on paper *lesson learned

about quadrant and the 59fps.. our devices are capped at 59fps. plus, our screen resolution is larger than most other devices, more pixels to push. so, at 59fps, it still looks great, on ics and jellybean. in jellybean we did gain a few more fps, but not in quadrant. if you want, go to the the main settings, developer settings, enable force gpu rendering. things will look a bit better, in the ui especially and in apps that can use gpu rendering. the "weak" gpu is just a myth that the media has scared us with.

The initial Wild Blood 1.0.7 had full effects and it ran bad on Tegra 3 devices (especially the slower ones like the Nexus 7)
Gameloft quickly botched the game with the v1.0.8 update and downgraded most effects to make it run well on Most Tegra 3 device
check this post for screenshots comparison and how to return your game to v1.0.7
Interestingly the game runs well on stock 2.17 kernel with gaming boost, yet it runs very bad on the One X gaming optimized kernels like Faux, Tegrastats revealed it's using only one core, without gaming boost it rarely crossed 50% load and with boost it rarely crosses 82% load, in other words this game is not using the Tegra 3 CPU at all
Not only it doesn't even begin to use the CPU, Gameloft still fails to optimize their games for the Tegra 3 GPU shortcomings for example Wildblood has an high level of Anisotropic filtering and our GPU is pixel fill rate bound, a reduction to this filtering could have been enough to relief the GPU instead of killing off all the effects
The very best way to play wildblood v1.0.7 is using the One X base 2.17 stock with gaming boost 2.1 or even better with the custom gaming enhanced stock 2.17 kernel
For some very specific reason it runs perfectly playable on this kernel even with full effects as long as you use gaming boost
However if you like to force this game to run well on custom kernels like faux and franco, continue with the following methods
Since this game and many Gameloft games don't uses Tegra 3 cores, we will want the maximum out of our single core
How to Run Wildblood and many Gameloft games at the maximum possible performance on custom One X kernels
First Method: Dual Core lock
- Download the latest Renovate Gaming boost
- Download any CPU control app like SetCPU
- First Enable boost in the gaming boost app, this will set the maximum background free memory and tweak the GPU
- Then change the CPU Governor to Performance mode using your CPU app, this will lock Tegra 3 to dual core mode at maximum clock speed, since two cores are disabled for safety in this governor you don't have to worry about overheating
Run Wildblood 1.0.7, you will notice it runs at least 2 to 3x the performance of default values
Recommended custom kernel for this method is Faux 11 mainline but also works with stock kernel, make sure you don't use an OC kernel since this method will push the device and you don't want it to overheat
OCed kernel might have issues with this method
Don't use this method and game on the charger otherwise your device might overheat
This tips is for non Tegra optimized games, using it with the THD games will surely cause high heat
Once you are done gaming disable boost mode and restore your CPU governor to ondemand to conserve your battery
Alternative method: Quad Core + Throttle lock
This is a much more aggressive method and will heat the device
for some reason the game runs in full quad core on the userspace governor using faux 12b1 and it runs over 30fps with full effects v1.0.7
we also need an OC kernel like faux' variant free this is because we don't want it to throttle all the way down to 1200MHz which always cause a massive drop in speed, I think its related to linked memory speed, so faux variant free or ultra or beta, will throttle to 1350
I didn't try any other kernel like stock but Franco doesn't have userspace and ondemand is only single core on this game, the stock kernel has userspace but I didn't try
so using faux 12b1 enable gaming boost 2.1
using setcpu or ur fav CPU app switch to userpace gov and Noop scheduler
set the min and max clock to 1400, this will lock to the throttle speed of 1350mhz at full quad
run the game and be surprised
u can reduce the lock a little if u feel its too hot, but don't set min below 900 because this governor has a mind if its own
In theory this should also work on stock kernel but it will lock to throttle speed of 1200mhz at full quad
Don't use this method and game on the charger otherwise your device might overheat
This tips is for non Tegra optimized games, using it with the THD games will surely cause high heat
Once you are done gaming disable boost mode and restore your CPU governor to ondemand to conserve your battery
This is cool to use on stock kernels?

yes tons of free CPU apps just search in google store, system tuner is one of them
AND YES it works on stock kernel, although it beyond me why you insist on not trying a custom kernel like faux (2 to 3x the frame rate in Beach buggy)

TBH I can't seem to ever get round to flashing a custom kernel, also I'm still not 100% confident enough to do it. I'm not sure on which kernel to flash tbh and I'll be jumping up to ARHD 11.1 soon so don't see the point until after then.

Both version is same, just for 1.0.8 version, they've decreased the graphic.. so hamdir just giving us how to revert back to 1.0.7 that hold full graphic enable for those have update to 1.0.8. So, this is the way to make it full effect enable.
@nashshafrulrezza im also getting freezes with the game, Faux11 mainline it's but not the kernel because i press home and i can exit the game, so i think there is something wrong with TB back of v1.0.7
extremely fun and smooth though , this method proves the real problem is that Gameloft is not using the CPU well
@everyone else v1.0.8 made the game smooth by killing effects so you don't really need this method, its only for those who want to play it with full effects enabled on v1.0.7

Agree.. it's the game could be.. just need anyone to test it with latest franco.. cause before this, franco kernel working better when it comes to wildblood.. Maybe we'll found out an answer to this freeze problem.

I did the tweaks: Enable Boost and Performance Mode
Beach Buggy Blitz is much smoother at full resolution. But the device still gets overheated I can blame either the chip in 'my' One x or like other people said the jb builds heat up while gaming.
I remember when playing beach buggy blitz normally without tweaks, the lag in the tunnel/dark areas was the most. With these tweaks the lag is barely there
Thanks Hamdir!

While it works great, this tip is not intended for Beach buggy ill make it clear in the first post
beach buggy and other real Tegra games uses the CPU core and GPU pretty well and they get heated as they are with gaming boost
unlike wildblood which is barely pushing the GPU or the CPU, with this tip it remains very cool
so yea this tip is for wildblood 1.0.7 and maybe other non Tegra optimized games like the ones from GL
the JB kernel is confirmed by many as hotter (so far) if they didnt' fix this, our kernel gods will deal with it, of course this means waiting for the kernel source, once the OTA roles out ill be annoying HTC with requests about the kernel source on Elevate
This is why im now happy that my devices has Asian OTA and will gladly update later when the gaming situation is clear
Alright. Thanks once again.

True, if you're having issues and need a benchmark to start from, I'd stick with the stock ROM until documented testing had been done.
The XPERIA LT26i using an Adreno 220 only gives about 7.2avg and maybe peaks of 8.9FPS using AnTuTu test(OpenGL 2.0)
The Adreno 220 GPU is reported to be considerably stronger than the Mali400-MP GPU, but Samsung seem to 'pimp' their GPUs for higher performance.
HOWEVER, you're comparing the Samsung Galaxy SII 480 x 800 ~217 ppi SD (Standard Definition) screen with an XPERIA LT26i 720 x 1280 HD ~342 ppi (High-Definition) screen.
Plus, there is a fair chance your bro's SGSII is running Samsung supplied JB 4.1 and colour me stupid, but I'm not always sure if you're going see GPU improvements(Hardware Acceleration etc)[clarification needed] in XPERIA S ports to JB before the official Sony release becomes available.
So, yes, technically the XPERIA LT26i is a stronger phone however with graphics FPS, it's gimp'd with the larger screen.
Fingers crossed we see some GPU performance gains in the upcoming Sony JB 4.1.2 release (when it comes)
I've just started using [KERNEL][ICS/MIUI][3.0.8] RaymanFX' ELiTE - V2 | STABLE | SMOOTH | BALANCED on a stock rooted 6.1.A.2.55 ROM and the CPU-GPU-OC Kernel does gives some real world improvements. I ran the Epic Citadel benchmark with and without the GPU modified kernel and the difference over a stock kernel in this given test is approx 3-4FPS increase with both Kernel CPU clocked at the same speed/governor/scheduler. I know it's not much, but still, better than being smacked in the face with a maggoty cat.
Oh and the bonus is that you get to keep GPU HW acceleration, which is not always the case in some of these mod'd Kernel/ROMs.
So, I was wondering if it is possible at all to overclock the Nexus 7 (2013). When I go to the app to overclock it (Yes, already rooted and installed busy box) I am unable to change max CPU's frequency higher than the default 1.5ghz. I also can't change the GPU's frequency over 400. Was wondering if there's like a limit to it or something. I was hoping I could overclock to 2ghz. Please help, thanks

Everybody has to start somewhere.
The kernel linked above should work fine. I would recommend backing up in TWRP/CWM before installing in case something goes wrong.
Why would you need to overclock this device? It already runs amazingly smooth with no lag whatsoever. What is it that you need the overclock for?

On a funny side note, cm11 runs everything lag free without needing oc or custom kernels, so maybe it's the stock kernel that's crap

Nexus 7 frame drops
I have a Nexus 7 2gen and i hace notice a frame drop playing Shadowgun Kik Kat 4.4.2. I was so frustraded that I was starting to dislike the nexus 7, but searching I found this threat and read a comment were said about installing a different kernel so I installed ElementalX 2.6, since then I haven't expirience any frame drop playing shadowgun I really enjoy it now, maybe is bad stock kernel. I hope this threat help others

The only game I've played that managed to drop my frames substantially that I would notice was Real Racing 3.
Now, I have CleanRom and ElementalX onboard but haven't played anything to test the performance. 2.1Ghz and GPU at 500Mhz.
I am currently using stock rom with elementax kernel, cpu @1,72ghz and gpu @450mhz. When i tried 2ghz oc, everything worked fine, but it got really hot while gaming. So i´m asking me how dangerous it is to use such high oc values in daily life. How much could it decrease the lifespan of the components?

We can only guess. Keep it at 2ghz, and let us know how long from now before your CPU is baked, then we'll all know for future reference.
Also there is an inductive charging coil on the inside for wireless charging some day when they come out with the chargers, sweet ****

Actually it is an underclocked snapdragon 600, but i didn't know that this cpu supports a clock speed until 1.9ghz (thought 1.7ghz would be standard clock). So i think up to 2ghz there shouldn't be any problems and it's okay for everyday use. I've also heard of some rumors that our nexus 7 2013 contains a "second choice" snapdragon 600 chipset, which didn't fullfill the predetermined requirements and that's why it was rebranded as an s4 pro... but this is really unimportant and just speculation.

omg you certainly shouldn't overclock it because the SOC architecture is designed to run at optimal clock speeds... by overclocking it, you might shorten the lifespan of your device and you might even damage it permanently as well
