I just downloaded textra and love the app, so much cleaner than gosms. gosms has too much bloat. I cant get MMS to work on textra.
the default APN settings in textra were:
MMSC: http ://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
those did not work, so i went to settings -> mobile networks -> access point names and it was set to "ATT LET pta" i copied the apn settings from there into textra, they are:
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMSC proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port: 80
As soon as i did this i received like 3 MMS messages that were sent to me yesterday, but i am not receiving new ones.
Anyone have any idea whats going on?

Not OP but was having the same issue with Textra and MMS. What fixed it was manually changing those old cingular URLs to be the mmxc.mobile.att.net and proxy.mobile.att.net. I kept the MMS proxy port at 80. FINALLY I am able to send MMS pics again.
I'm so tired of the GoSMS bloat and the fact that they send me spammy text messages. Happily uninstalling it to use Textra now that I got the MMS figured out.
Thanks for the help in getting it running, jda2631!

Thanks! This fixed it for me on Nexus 5. Not sure why these aren't the default settings.

Hi may I suggest another app that recently launched. It will let you send images over standard sms (picture sms) you will not need mms.
This app supports mms anyways.
Give it a try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.svs.shareviasms

Hi everyone,
Ive been testing the new ROMs for a while now and have flashe everything except for nprussells release from today. On all of them (with or without MMS fix) I found that MMS wouldnt work. Retesting MMS on most of the ROMs I've found that deleting all original APNs (as we normally do anyway) then adding 2 APNs as below resolves all MMS issues. I can now receive and send MMS without any additional apps, mods, etc.
To add 2 APNs: add one for data, call it whatever you want and add information ONLY for data access (no mmsc, etc) leave these as they are by default. Also leave APN type and authenication.
Then for the second APN add only the data server + MMS info. Again leave authentication blank. Then under APN type type mms.
Do not add any more info for data access and make sure that only the data APN can and is selected. Also ensure that there are no other APNs.
UK Network settings: http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
Hope this works!
ps I know that this has officially been resolved but I am sure Im still getting problems with not receiving some texts :s
I can't get MMS to work, could you expand a little more on your fix?

Hi,
Please provide more details on the problem - which ROM are you using and what have you done so far?
In detail you should download APN backup & restore from the market and use it to delete all APNs.
Then go to wireless settings, mobile network, access points.
Add two new APNs as described above - remember to save them both and set the data APN to active. Also make sure that mobile data is enabled. Then you may need to restart you phone although I didnt have to.
If you need specific settings then please let me know which network you are on and in which country so I can help you further
Could you help me aswell? i'm on vodafone UK currently using VillainROM 5.2

pay as you go or pay monthly?
I'm using villain 5.2 and I'm on o2 monthly
I tried the adb shell fix, but it couldn't find the carriers database to update. I then tried manually entering them in the mobile settings and it still doesn't work

According to the O2 forums, you can only use one APN, so all settings have to be put into one (I have tried setting up 2 different ones and that didn't work either)
This is what I have:

MMS Port: 8080

Got those exact same settings and still no mms, in fact I can't now access the internet from my phone. I can use Facebook App and Twitter, etc (I get the H for or the 3G symbol)
If I trued and get a webpage, it just won't connect to anything
I have been searching around for a solution. Looks like guys on sprint have it working by fixing the APN settings. Does anyone know the settings for Verizon? I tried the server setting that used to work in WinMo before it was working correctly. I don't care if I can't send at this point I would be happy to just receive them. Any help?
I think they figured it out by just planing around with the APN settings... so be a pioneer dude, figure it out and help out other vz guys.
I don't use MMS, so it's never been a concern for me. Besides, don't you have a website that shows you your MMS'? I know Sprint does - even in WinMo, I don't get MMS, I just get an email saying I have a new MMS. Maybe I set it up like that a long time ago, but I don't remember doing it

I tried some settings, but I really have no clue what I was doing and it was more of a guess. And the only way to test it was to have someone try and send me a mms which was getting old with requests.
I tried the basic settings that people are using on sprint, but used the Verizon server address with no luck. I noticed the Name: and APN: where reveresed in my phone already. I didn't change them. Also the Password: field had four *'s in it like there was a value there and the Server: field also had one * in it. Also the APN type: field had a * in it. I didn't change those as I have no clue what they do or what the actual values are so I didn't want to change something I didn't know how to change back.

These settings allow you to send mms, still working on trying to find the right settings for recieving.
Go to Settings -> Wireless Controls -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> Android
Modify the following settings:
MMSC: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms?X-VZW-MDN=<your ten-digit phone number>
MMS proxy: leave empty
MMS port: 80
PS don't put these in<> just your number

Is anyone else experiencing this? My GSM Galaxy Nexus only receives small, lo-res pics when I get an MMS. I read that it has something to do with T-Mobile not recognizing the MMS user agent on unlocked phones. I'm very inexperienced with hacking/rooting and would appreciate anyone's assistance with fixing this issue.

Thanks for the heads up, man. Looking forward to a possible fix.
Many are having problems with receiving only low resolution MMS on T-Mobile, related to using an unlocked phone on their network with a User Agent that wasn't recognized. I found an easy way of receiving better quality MMS without rooting/hacking.
Download Go SMS Pro from the market.
Open Go SMS Pro and go to that app's Settings>Advanced>MMS Settings and change this:
User Agent: NexusOne ( SGH-T989 also works )
Put a check mark by 'Preserve image resolution.'
Next, go to the Go SMS Pro's Settings>Advanced>Important Tips and put a check mark by 'Stock SMS Uninstalled.'
After that, go to the Galaxy Nexus' APN settings (Settings>More...>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names) and make sure they say this:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: <Not set>
Password: <Not set>
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: <Not set>
MMS Port: <Not set>
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication Type: <Not set>
APN Type: <Not set>
Send an MMS to yourself to test it out. After you send a pic, you should then receive two versions, a high-res pic and a lo-res pic. If you successfully receive both the high and lo-res pics, you may now go to the Galaxy Nexus' Settings>Apps>Messaging and disable the stock messaging app. You should now only receive a high res pic when you send yourself an MMS and when others send you an MMS.
I found that you must wait until the very last step to disable the stock messaging app in the GN's settings for this to work. Feel free to give this a try and post here if this works out for you guys.
This doesn't work Buddy. I'm guessing at the moment the only working fix would be to either push an apk with the user agent spoofed, or root and change the UA in the messaging prop.
Anyone else have any other ideas?

I am on T-Mo too, I have had that problem more than a few times, and each time, I had to call T-Mo to renew my network connection.
You best call on another phone, as they will take you out of the network and re-insert you to it again. You will have to remove the battery, wait a few, and then reboot. After that It works!!
One time I had to clean out the cache and data of my mms client and the native mms app and it worked (fine ever since)
Good Luck and Aloha!
