[Q] What ROM is right for me? - LG Optimus G Pro

hey guys! I'm posting here today to ask your kind advice = ]
Recently my fiance got an AT&T LG Optimus G Pro E980..and I rooted and flashed a stock deblaoted ROM. After a sketchy baseband flash (think I accidentally flashed the E988 instead), Found out it wiped the IMEI and it got zero signal even after changing the APN. I returned it to stock and my fiance got another one without any hassle from AT&T (thanks LGFlashTool!)
Now I got one finally and I was wondering if there is a safe and sable Custom ROM I can go to that wont have me tamper with the "radio" or "baseband" and can be used as a Daily driver. I have a white AT&T LG Optimus G Pro (E980!) on stock and rooted...Used Titanium Backup to freeze all the crap...But this Rom STILL has CarrierIQ in it..and I like to keep my android experience lean, mean and free of (possibly spying) carrier parasites .I like the QuickRemote feature..other than that the A&T garbage and that qslide crap can go phuck itself. Any advice? I've seen
BeanStalk,
Carbon,
UNOFFICIAL and OFFICIAL CM,
ParanoidAndroid,
Pac-Man
Vanir
and Harmony
Thanks!!

pfft. was wondering which one had the most RISK of installing (NOT features or which one was "better") but. fine.

Just try them. That's half the fun of rooting.

[Q] Clean Android ROM for Tmobile G2 & Updates

Is there a total clean ROM for Tmobile G2/Desire Z?
My situation: I have a Tmobile G2 ROM from the US and I am using it in Europe. My problem is that this ROM is not all that stable and working as I would want. Also, with the recent blocks of tethering apps by NA operators, I think I would like totally free my phone from crap!
My worries is that I can have the Scandinavian åäö still usable on this phone. Well at least I have been able to use the software keyboard now with the stock Tmobile ROM.
Any suggestion is accepted... thanks!
What's not stable with the stock G2 ROM? If you aren't happy with the stability of the stock G2 ROM, I don't know if a custom ROM or the stock Desire Z (with Sense) is going to make you any happier.
They only blocked the apps from market...though I can still find easy tether lol

My advice is just flash a stable ROM onto it. The most stable ROMs I've tested so far are Virtuous and Trollogen if you want something stable but you don't want updates from TMob. The updates you'll receive with developer ROMs are obviously just from developers. Although you'll probably get more updates on a developer ROM than a TMob one.
People are so damn lazy these days...here's an idea, try some for your self, I know I know crazy new concept

OGP 4.2 Update deatils

Helo guys , I have just got off a friendly chat with my close friend who works for the LG Android Team in India and who are testing currently the software..
as per him the OGP E988 ( for now ) will recieve the 4.2 update by last week of Jan or 3rd week
This is confirmed info .. so another 2-3 weeks..
As he said all of the engineers are asked to prioritise updates for G2 than Gpro .. be it work or anything and engineers are working weekends to deliver for G2 first..
Such a shame after all this time we only get 4.2 (They should at least give us 4.3 with Trim function)
SO only 4.2 but no KitKit??
Can't tell Its a good or bad news ???
Better 4.2 than nothing
its bad news that take them too long
but 4.2.2 is nice update after all better then nothing
and maybe it will help our great devs port KK from lg g2
4.2 too bad

That is good news..Something is better than nothing..
OG Pro is already too awesome with the stock 4.1.2..4.2.2 will mean only better things!
Hope it releases soon.

I think it's bad news considering we are on 4.4.2 now on CM official nightly. And yes could bring great performance and New apps, but won't you still feel like **** knowing you are on jelly bean while all other phones are on kitkat, maybe even better 5.0 by June next year(2014). I say join custom rooms and forget official outdated outdates.

I know being on 4.1.2 right now seems like left behind. But I have used 4.4.2 and not so impressed. The LG stock as modified in these forums is much better than other brand stock roms and the performance is better than my experience with the 4.4.2 custom roms.

I guess with this update we might get the knock on feature integrated for our phone. Its gimmicky but sometimes is convenient.

One can't just undermine the lg stock 4.1.2. With root access and xposed frameworks it works like a charm. Never had a random reboot or any freeze for the first few weeks i used it. Heck at one time i had 500+ hours uptime.
Though i have moved on to slimkat now. That's another beauty. Most stable kitkat rom IMO

I don't like 4.2
Oh my Kitkat

[Q] Out of the Rom game for awhile

Hi All,
I haven't tweaked anything lately, due to a a very busy work schedule (which I can hopefully share a new app that'll be released fairly soon with all of you, here's a link http://www.yondermusic.com/)
However, I was wondering what's been lacking in the dev community? Looks like you have plenty of Roms, but I've provided a poll in the top to see where I can try to contribute. The LG Optimus G was the first phone I've contributed on, and I'll like to do that again.
Thanks,
Adriel
Glad to have you back. A ZVC version of Lifeless? How's your stock kernel skills? We could use another one of those. Again.... Welcome back.

Look at that! You've become a recognized contributor! Congrats.
I'll be doing anything that's required so if a stock kernel is needed, I can definitely start there.
glad to see you back!
I'd like an aroma zip containing lots of g2 (or even g3) stock kikat apps that would be compatible with 970 & 975 stock roms.

A gproj Kernel for CM11?
Something like stock cm kernel but adding gamma control, etc... Preserving stability and adding some essentials teaks?
There's only a few options for those who still run gproj because our phones doesn't like gee, almost all the devs have been working with gee now.
And... Hi, thanks for coming again over here. :good:
Stupid Question,
What version of Android is the LG on?
4.4.2?
4.1.2?
Or something else

Haha, no such thing as a stupid question. Well, for the most part. But that's definitely not!
Stock is 4.1.2 for the Optimus G

Here's hoping 4.4 comes down the pipe soon.

Can I drop any gpad rom on vk810

As the title states I would like to rom my vk810 Verizon 8.3 gpad. I really don't care about GPS or mobile data as I don't use either on this device. Will any of the CM11 roms and others work on this device? Will I lose anything else?
My tablet is a little sluggish and loaded with Verizon typical bloatware. I would love to have a rom more similar to my lg g2 4.4.2 rom I am running. Dual screen would be nice on this tablet.

The only ROMs that'll work on our VK810.4G are ones specifically made for our variant. You can't use V500 or V510 ROMs at all, don't even try it.

Be patient my friend there is a rom in the works right now cleanrom is coming soon cleaned out with way better performance.
Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. The stock rom is laggy compared to my g2 phone but that one is running a modified stock rom so maybe thats why it blows this tablet out of the water.

This is exciting. Where did you hear this? I didn't think anyone was making anything for this tablet. I know there was a cm12 rom but that's on hold.

D851 ROM Closest to Cloudy?

Is there a D851 specific ROM similar to Cloudy G3? I like the way Cloudy looks and runs but I miss the WIFI calling since my phone can't ever seem to get a signal in large buildings like a hotel.
What is my best option if I am used to Cloudy?
TIA!

I was in a similar situation, I ended up using the SR lollipop debloated T-Mobile ROM, then followed a couple of different guides to add G4 home, weather, and concierge board (smart notice). Very happy with it, especially with Gabriel kernel... Buttery smooth.
Edit- I don't have links, as I don't remember everywhere I went to make sure I understood what I was doing before diving in. Also, on mobile, at work...

I'm using fulmics 2.1 and it's even better than cloudy. It's multi variant also. Check it out in the general g3 development page
I'm on fulmics.
