Can I drop any gpad rom on vk810 - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title states I would like to rom my vk810 Verizon 8.3 gpad. I really don't care about GPS or mobile data as I don't use either on this device. Will any of the CM11 roms and others work on this device? Will I lose anything else?
My tablet is a little sluggish and loaded with Verizon typical bloatware. I would love to have a rom more similar to my lg g2 4.4.2 rom I am running. Dual screen would be nice on this tablet.

The only ROMs that'll work on our VK810.4G are ones specifically made for our variant. You can't use V500 or V510 ROMs at all, don't even try it.

Be patient my friend there is a rom in the works right now cleanrom is coming soon cleaned out with way better performance.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. The stock rom is laggy compared to my g2 phone but that one is running a modified stock rom so maybe thats why it blows this tablet out of the water.

This is exciting. Where did you hear this? I didn't think anyone was making anything for this tablet. I know there was a cm12 rom but that's on hold.

[Q] how come there are no custom roms for this phone?

Just checked the development forums and they are basically empty.
Is it just that the phone is new? Or has there been no way to root it yet? I'm thinking of getting this phone but I'd like to know if I'll have the option of rooting/loading a custom ROM.
One last question - is this phone any different then the nexus? it seems to have the same hardware other then a better camera and have LTE.
Thanks
Nexus 4 is optimus G with no amplifiers/filters for LTE, less storage, different camera, wireless charger, RGB led.
No roms cause thats the international version section, its still kinda rare and the boot still locked.

I'm in Canada so I'm not entirely sure, but if Sprint is like any other carrier they will push an update to 4.2 loooooonnnnnggggg after the devs here have cooked about a dozen customs Rom's for it. They are working on AOSP now. Shouldn't be too long.

Oh i know i can get it sooner here, but this isnt my phone and for some stupid reason my friend doesn't want me to root his phone, so just wondering how long he's gonna have to wait to get any of the new stuff 4.2 has

You sure? I read that because unless we have CWM, we're not getting custom ROMs.

CWM and TWRP are both out for the North American variants. Just need the ROMS to be cooked.

From the looks of it, there are a few devs that have this device (judging from the "root-testing" discussion). I'm sure that it won't be too long before we see some work. Still a relatively new device here in the US.
I'm getting my hands on it tonight, so I'll give her a looksie. If I can do something with what I find, then I will. It's my first LG (primary body of work on Moto devices), so it might be slow...

Sprint LG G2 no love?

So Ive never had a device (even on sprint) that has no development to be seen within a weeks period of time. I believe the Root we have is from other devices and the CM 10.2 build that was posted was something that was supposed have never seen the light of day and was broken. I totally love this phone but I was really excited for the development aspects since its basically nexus 5 with a different shell. Anyone else with the sprint variant a little worried by the lack of interest?
I'm on the same boat, many probably are.
This phone is still solid stock.. all I really need is tethering... patiently waiting

Those other carrier variants have been out way longer than ours. We've only had ours for 1 week now. Give it a bit more time?

Development is under way. There are 2 devs working on a CM 10.2 ROM right now and another working on a version of CleanROM for us. Its going to take some time and the phone hasn't been out for a week yet.
Also the CM 10.2 ROM was removed because the build was not tested and verified by the dev to be working and they removed the links to it in case it caused a potential brick to the phone. People who downloaded the ROM say it had GPS lock and rotation issues so you don't want to download the ROM anyways. In fact they saved you the hassle of reverting back to stock or a nandroid backup. Read the last few posts in that CM 10.2 thread to get a sense of the situation.
I am not worried at all about the "lack of interest" in this phone. You have to remember that not all the potential devs have received the phone yet such as garwynn who probably just received the phone today. Lets give the potential devs some time to come out with new ROMs and other mods. There are enough ways currently to mod the current stock ROM anyways through Xposed and other mods like (increase volume).
Its only been a week. Our device was rootable even before Sprint released it. I'm not worried. For now I've been using Greenify + Titanium Backup to keep my phone in battery/performance BEAST MODE.

Install G2 xposed and you'll see you can do a lot of the customization yourself. There's also an xposed kitkat theme in the theme's section by ock. The device is already fast and ignoring aosp roms, you can customize the stock rom to your liking.

I guess I didn't think about the fact that the other variants had been out for a few months already, but I really wasn't trying to comparing them. I was just noticing that compared to devices I've had in the past (even the SGS II which I hated lol) had some things pop up pretty quickly. Also make sure that no one takes this as me complaining, just thinking out loud here.
And as to the xposed stuff, Im atually just interested in some slimed down stock roms and AOSP, but thanks for making sure I knew about it
PS: Ive also had this phone for close to a month so Im probably feeling that rom flash bug harder than most XD

How can we help test it if we can't find the darn thing?
Here's where the Rom is located:

So far I've rooted, download rom, installed twrp, tried flashing it but it booted stuck on carbon logo. It may be because I don't have the gapps file.
Any one with a link to 4.3.1 gapps?

[Q] Out of the Rom game for awhile

Hi All,
I haven't tweaked anything lately, due to a a very busy work schedule (which I can hopefully share a new app that'll be released fairly soon with all of you, here's a link http://www.yondermusic.com/)
However, I was wondering what's been lacking in the dev community? Looks like you have plenty of Roms, but I've provided a poll in the top to see where I can try to contribute. The LG Optimus G was the first phone I've contributed on, and I'll like to do that again.
Thanks,
Adriel

Look at that! You've become a recognized contributor! Congrats.
I'll be doing anything that's required so if a stock kernel is needed, I can definitely start there.

I'd like an aroma zip containing lots of g2 (or even g3) stock kikat apps that would be compatible with 970 & 975 stock roms.

A gproj Kernel for CM11?
Something like stock cm kernel but adding gamma control, etc... Preserving stability and adding some essentials teaks?
There's only a few options for those who still run gproj because our phones doesn't like gee, almost all the devs have been working with gee now.
And... Hi, thanks for coming again over here. :good:
Stupid Question,
What version of Android is the LG on?

D851 ROM Closest to Cloudy?

Is there a D851 specific ROM similar to Cloudy G3? I like the way Cloudy looks and runs but I miss the WIFI calling since my phone can't ever seem to get a signal in large buildings like a hotel.
What is my best option if I am used to Cloudy?
TIA!

I was in a similar situation, I ended up using the SR lollipop debloated T-Mobile ROM, then followed a couple of different guides to add G4 home, weather, and concierge board (smart notice). Very happy with it, especially with Gabriel kernel... Buttery smooth.
Edit- I don't have links, as I don't remember everywhere I went to make sure I understood what I was doing before diving in. Also, on mobile, at work...

LG G3 to swap with LG G2?

Hello guys,
I bought my father an LG G3 and I can't decide if I want to swap it for my LG G2. I know that the G3 has slight overheating problem, but there is a fix. It is running stock right now, but I always use CM on my devices for maximum performance on old devices like ours. Can someone with CM or any lightweight AOSP ROM run an Antutu benchmark? It is preferable if you don't have crazy amount of apps so the results are as good as possible. I know that the benchmark isn't everything, but it will at least give me an idea if it is worth it reading 2 hours of information about rooting and flashing.
I am happy with my G2. I get 51k on CM13. He gets 50k on stock. The only thing I really like for now is the display and the solid metal band around the display. In your opinion - is worth it swapping the phones or not? Is it a big jump in performance?
I will be very happy if you do the tests and save me time to flash only to test. Thanks.
Don't swap it man! What model/country is the G3? You should update to Android M, you'll get better performance if it's available. CM 13 is also a stable rom but I'm currently stock Marshmallow and getting
